I could probably help teach you, though I should make a point that it's rather difficult to do this type of role-play at a 'free' level of role-playing rather than 'casual' or 'advanced' -- role-play duelling, especially when doing so without using stats or dice, is all about the details and strategy, which usually can't be done in a couple of sentences.

If you're going to do it at a 'free' level, I'd recommend using stats and dice since they allow for more simplified combat that doesn't utilize elaborate tactics and mind games -- this allows for a much lower level of writing without any problems arising, since these 'Tabletop' systems are inherently designed for games that have minimalistic storytelling in mind (making them more ideal systems for people who don't actually know how to role-play duels well). If you want to learn proper role-play duelling, you'll want to do so at 'casual' or - preferably - 'advanced' level.

That being said, I could probably answer any questions you have about it if you send me a PM -- I don't have time to take on another opponent myself, but I'm always available to tutor.

I'm not the best but I can certainly fight and explain some stuff how we usually do things around here. It would help if you give specific questions about it or else I may end up rambling for a bit.

As Shoryu says, free is not the best choice for this unless we went only for rule of cool where details don't matter (or his suggestions). I suggest we try for casual and we can practice getting more detailed as we go along. I'm guilty of not posting super detailed either, so perhaps I need some practice as well.

Okay. I bet you will find yourself able to post more lines as you practice. Most posts have you reacting to what your opponent is doing and carrying out their own plan, so it will naturally be at least two lines. That's twice as much as free right there! ;)

Our characters likely wouldn't have any high level abilities for a simple fight scene. Do you want them to have minor magic or none? Fantasy weapons or modern? I'd advise against guns right now unless you really want them.

It's getting late so let's start something tomorrow. I can try to match your characters power for a fair fight if you post about him/her/it.

Yes, we should definitely do unranked for now. Ranked matches will be best if you can start getting some more detail in where both participants can give a clear picture of what they're doing so they can accurately respond to each other. A good paragraph is usually in order unless their actions are very simple.
