Gune's senses were on fire. Among his current tribe, only he could truly see in the dark. But even his superior vision did nothing to help shake this harrowing sense of apprehension that another abomination could be hiding in any shadow or behind any tree. He constantly scanned the tree line of the ominous forest as they forged a path.
He fell in line as Ishalla barked orders, forgetting entirely his responsibilities as chieftain for a time. Subconsciously, he hoped their most recent encounter were not a clear and prescient danger of what Mirkland has to offer.

The forest begins its descent into darkness, but the dim torches of the outpost push through the shadows as a beacon to the party. There isn't much to see, especially through the growing mist. You do stumble upon a collapsed tree though, a chunk of its upper branches sundered by what looks to be a scorching lightning bolt.

Finally, a beacon of hope! Gune saw the torchlight of the distant outpost, and felt his spirits lift. With their goal now in sight, he and his tribe should make a more expeditious advance through the dark, horror-ridden forest. Gune made a great effort to keep his anxiety buried, and the encroaching fog wasn't helping.
Still keeping a wary eye on his surroundings, he inspected the fallen timber that blocked their path forward. As an obstacle, it was very lackluster. Gune believed he could scramble over it as gracefully as a halfling delicacy on the run from a dinner knife. They were always so hard to keep on the party platter unless you maimed them first.

"Fat scales!" He cried to Ishalla. "Chieftan Gune say we run to outpost from here. No one catch us!" His toothy grin brimmed with confidence and belied his obvious desire to make a run for it and be rid of the forest altogether.

Ishalla was honestly glad they made such good progress, yet when she saw the tree in the middle of the road she looked around extra carefully. There was a reason to this for sure, the scourge marks hinted on natural ones, but she suspected that magic was not out of the question. She didn't believe it was her own lightning breath that had caused it, and if there was someone of her kin here, it was either really good... or really bad. "A Lone Tree blocking the path... Keep eyes out for bandits. Someone might have hoped to catch a cart on its path to the outpost... and that someone might decide to jump a group of adventurers in the cover of dark" she said as she scanned ahead, she looked for possible traps even thought it might slow down their progress.

Some might call it being a bit paranoid, but in a new place such as this... and from what she had seen so far she was very glad she was that extra bit careful. Althought Gune's comment made her sneer coldly at him... calling her 'fat Scales' was very insulting. "what was that?... " she growled as she tighened her grip on her mace just for show. She quickly went back to scanning their surroundings however as she looked for possible traps and ambushes while proceeding towards the encampment at the 'same' pace.
