If you know what Dissidia is we're set. We're just taking the story from the games, except we can use any FF game we want to here. Whose interested?

I've got a bit too much going on currently, on and off the site, but I like where this idea could go. While I usually don't like playing as canon characters from other licensed works, Dissidia has always been a cool fighting game series -- I'm actually eagerly awaiting the confirmed PS4 release of the new one.

How active are you expecting posts to be? As it stands I've almost had to pull out of the only role-play I'm part of here, for a variety of reasons. I'm not exactly a 'casual' level role-player though.

Well, as long as I know you're still there, I suppose you can be as active as you wish. I don't have that much of an active presence on this site anymore, but I do have flashes of inspiration, here and there. To be honest, it doesn't really matter to me if you're Casual level, or whatever.

You have pretty good grammar, and I'm pretty lax for the most part as far as anything else goes. I don't have any real peeves. Sometimes I post a single paragraph, sometimes two, sometimes I only write what I think is nessecary.

I'm sort of infamous for tossing up 'walls of text' IC and OOC -- I believe the term 'high advanced' is what people use on this site for the way I go about doing my role-plays. As for my activity on this site... I've more or less got a few issues being here and I want to prioritize my own story project work, especially since my passion for role-play is largely rooted in that story. The only exceptions are occasional bursts of inspiration I get for ideas I don't think would fit into my main setting.

Anyway, did you have a particular plot or match-up in mind? I'm curious which character(s) you were thinking of using on your end.

Nothing really convoluted. The Dissidia story formula is pretty solid as it is, honestly. I guess the main draw, is that characters that would never speak to each other interact.

It makes it interesting, because they can give each other different perspectives and make them think outside the realm of their own games logic. This is a roleplay after all, so I guess we'd be doing a good amount of that. We'd pretty much just follow the standard Dissidia setup, the characters wake up with most of their memories lost, and their base personalities from early in their games, before their character development kicks in.

They are told by Cosmos to find their crystal to stop Chaos, while Chaos's Warriors try and vanquish them. Each character has their own mini-arc, with the climax being a battle with their series respective antagonist. The ultimate goal, would obviously be the defeat of Chaos.

If we'd fail, the story would begin another cycle. As for my characters, I strongly want to play as Layle from Crystal Bearers, as well as Jegran, the games main villain. And of course, whatever else comes into my head, maybe an obscure character, I dunno.

So we'd ultimately be playing both heroes and villains. I'll think over whether or not I'll be able to add this to all the multitasking I'm up to, and once I have a better idea of that I'll contemplate what characters I'd introduce. As I've mentioned, I usually don't use canon characters and I'm not huge on fandom-based role-play, but I got my start in play-by-post on a Final Fantasy role-play forum and at one point I almost registered as Seifer Almasy.

Not to steal Shoryu's thunder, because he's a great writer from what I've seen, but I have some interest in this as well.

Mainly have interest in playing FF:Tactics Advance1/2 characters. I'm thinking Marche being on the side of Chaos. (Because he's often portrayed as the antagonist in many people's opinion) and Ritz being on the side of Cosmos. One could say Queen Remedi/Li-Grim should be included, but that character is "meh" at best as the Final Boss. And I'd choose Mewt over Ritz for Cosmos; But Mewt is weaker than an unequipped Spoony Bard, and Ritz is a cooler character anyway. Not to mention actually competent.

Alternatively, for Advanced 2, Luso for Cosmos and Illua for Chaos.

I'm pretty busy most of the time, but I try to slip one reply in a day. I'm not super-familiar with PvP, so I might need to get corrected if I over-step my bounds, but I'm happy to learn from my mistakes. I suggest, regardless of you accepting me or not, that you perhaps take Shoryu as well; Because, as I said, he's a great writer.

I'm curious what you've seen of me to make that statement. Have you actually taken a look at the only IC thread I'm in on this site, or are you basing that mostly off how I present myself in the OOC discussions or in my bio (the latter is really a disorganized mess right now in my opinion)? Nevertheless, I appreciate the compliment.

Whether or not I'll end up having enough time to do this is still very much up in the air, so if you're interested in this then by all means take my place, as I insinuated in my previous post. Worst case scenario I could always take him up on this some other time when I'm less overworked, especially since I don't usually do fandom role-play (or, specifically, I don't usually use canon characters).

Yeah, I noticed it while I was browsing Arena randomly. I mostly glanced it over, but did take the time to read a fair amount of the replies; And I personally think they're pretty good. All around however. you do present yourself as a pretty straight-forward person, and I think that's one of the best kinds of people to have as a roleplay partner. Also, your bio has way more effort put into than I'd ever bother doing, lol. It's fairly impressive itself. Though I can see why you see it as a bit of a mess.

I plan to try and nab a chance at this, for sure. I'm sure in the long run he'd probably not mind running two, so it'll be fine, I'm guessing. Of course I can't speak for Gohan, so I don't know that for sure, but it's a general assumption I make with 1x1's. Running a variant never hurts.

Ah, right. Appreciated, even if I don't consider my work there to be my best. I haven't properly done any role-playing on a forum in over five years, so I've mostly took part in that thread in order to get some exercise.

There's a lot of details that people who're unfamiliar with PvP role-playing can end up missing that leads to mistakes, but honestly so long as the role-players collaborate effectively in the OOC and the characters are established as a good match-up from the beginning - the latter which is aided somewhat by using canon characters - then most of the issues can be dealt with easily.

I'm working on a massive project, yeah. I've been working with it for many years, and a lot of things keep getting in the way. I actually joined this site because I was trying to boot my morale after some technology problems made me lose a large chunk of notes. Nevertheless, the site has been really distracting me and I need to get back to my work, but I might have time -- we'll see.

The only other issue is I've never played either of the first two Dissidia games directly, so while I've watched a lot of videos of the matches - and I've also looked up plenty of spoilers about the plot - there could be holes in some of my knowledge.

Well, the only thing I can say that can help is to try and find a compilation of all the cut-scenes. Try searching for "Dissidia full movie" on youtube or something. Then just watch the ones for both the original and 012.

That's a good idea. If I can get my PC into a state where having another tab open (for a video) won't cause any issues, I'll potentially do that during a break. I've got a lot of spoilers, but haven't seen the cutscenes themselves.

It's one of the things holding up me setting up a Discord chat for discussion about my 'Guardian Ascension' project (this discussion channel has been mentioned in the hang-out thread recently).
