Such an advanced world. It was amazing how much humanity had evolved over the last few years. Nobody would have thought this was possible, but the world had made technology and human fusion possible. Some had chosen to go full out with the evolution, and more or less changed into robots, while others decided to only have small bits of augmentations in their bodies. However, everyone were now part of the technological advanced world, in one way or the other. This also meant that it had become more dangerous when people was exposed to hacking attempts. The Cyber Killers, or Cyber Assassins, as some would prefer to call them, were the new kind of terrorists, at least if you had to believe what the news told you every day on the television. These people were masters in hacking and killing from a distance, simply by getting entrance to the augmentations, wires, and everything else, that humans now had in their bodies. There were countless of ways that these Cyber Assassins could kill a person, and most of them was not a pleasant way to go. It was usually painful and lasted long enough for the victim to want to commit suicide, though the victim was usually unable to do so, as they would be completely controlled or destroyed by the hacker, and would have lost control over their own body.

Gravity Zero, as she called herself, was one of those Cyber Assassins. She didn’t belong to any of the factions that existed in the world yet, she went her own ways, but that didn’t make her less dangerous. She was a professional and she had never once been caught. She had many augmentations, some that hadn’t even been possible to do for the common people and scientists. She had invented some technology herself, and had placed it in her own body. It had saved her life when she had done so, as her life hadn’t been one of flowers and pink beautiful clouds. She had her reasons for doing what she did, and she wouldn’t stop, no matter what. She liked to kill, when people deserved to die, and she liked to torture, when people deserved to be tortured. She didn’t go after innocent people, however, the police obviously didn’t always agree on when a person was innocent, and when they weren’t. For Gravity Zero, a person who was good at cheating the system was just as bad as a serial killer, which meant she would kill, or torture, or possibly both, that person. The police didn’t think that person was guilty of a hard crime, if even a crime at all. Many politicians and big companies cheated with the tax and all other things in the world, as they always had, and everyone knew it. It seemed that just because people knew about it, it made it okay and it made it apparently impossible to give them some kind of punishment for doing so, which was one reason why Gravity Zero took down those people as well.

Today was just another day in paradise for her. She had her target, and she was already in the system. It was a male 40 years of age, who had not only been cheating on his husband, but had lied about his sexuality to gain entrance to his husband’s high-value company. Gravity Zero had found out that he wasn’t even a homosexual person, he had just pretended to be that, to gain access to the company. At the same time, he had been seeing a woman, which seemed to be in on it as well. Gravity Zero would have her turn with the woman later on, as she wasn’t that innocent either, but for now, she had to take care of the man, and she would do it while he was in a crowded area, so everyone could feel the fear of the unseen. Gravity Zero was sitting in the top floor of a very high apartment building, one of the most expensive apartments you could find in the whole city. It had glass walls all around, though you couldn’t see inside the apartment, from the outside, but she could see outside the windows just fine. The windows were very thick and bullet proof, which meant they wouldn’t break easily. She had very expensive furniture in the living room and the bedroom, and she had a very expensive bathroom as well. All in all, she lived like a millionaire, without ever having worked for it. In the living room, she had the technology that she needed to hack into people’s bodies. All it took really, was a plug-in system that she attached to her back, which went into the machine, not bigger than a computer, and from there, she would be able to follow the technological code that she was hunting for.

She could see out of the eyes of the man she was inside as well, which meant she knew everything that he was doing, at all times, for as long as she was attached to the system. She smiled to herself, the time had come to finish him off, after she was done, she would have to go play a little online game to keep her skills as sharp as ever, but first, she would have fun. Outside in the sunshine, the man was walking through the crowded plaza now, when he suddenly stopped. His briefcase that he had in his hand, dropped to the ground and his arms started to stretch themselves out to the sides. “Wha-what’s going on!?” he shouted out, which made people turn around to look at him. Gravity Zero grinned to herself “This is for lying and cheating you fucking piece of shit.” Even though she spoke, the man wouldn’t be able to hear her. She started up her own personal virus, which was a self-destructive one that couldn’t be traced or found after the host died. The man started to scream in pain, his body started to electrocute him from the inside, his own two hands went up to his eyes and started pressing into them. She then started to decompose his metallic bones in his legs, which the man would feel like acid melting away the rather tough metal that the bones were made of. People started to scream just as loud as the man did. Gravity Zero smiled “Here comes the finishing blow.” She traced his wires to his heart and made the flow of his energy go in the opposite direction, so instead of going out from his heart, they went straight into his heart instead. His eyes had been destroyed and blood was coming out from them, he was lying on the ground as well, as his metallic bones had completely melted away. His heart now beat so fast because of the electricity that was flowing into it, that it was growing in size, and a few seconds later, it exploded with enough force to create a hole in his chest and destroying the front of his tuxedo and shirt. People fainted and those that didn’t, ran away screaming. Someone had called the police, but before the whole game was over, she tuned into one of the commercial billboards above the plaza. She didn’t show a picture of herself obviously, and she didn’t talk, what happened was instead something else. She made her name appear on the billboard “Gravity Zero.” in bright neon blue color. Though people wouldn’t know whether that was a name, or something else, as it wasn’t explained. The police might have seen the name before, if they had been searching through other cases prior to this one, but the public wouldn’t know of it.

She then detached herself from the body she was in and the technological tube that went into her back and pulled up her shirt. “A job well done.” She smiled. She turned around and turned on the TV, which was built into the glass wall that faced the whole city. If the news would show the incident, she wanted to see what they said about it, though she was sure that they were already there. As she turned to the news channel, she was right, the reporters were there. “We are standing here at the plaza where a most horrifying scene has just taken place. A man killed himself it seems, though it is unsure whether it was a malfunction in his augmentations, or whether it had something to do with the ‘Gravity Zero’ sign that appeared shortly after his death. No factions of the Cyber Terrorists have taken responsibility for the attack, which leads to the question of what it was that caused the death of Traloy McCallan, and what ‘Gravity Zero’ truly is.” Gravity Zero smiled to herself, the fools had no idea who they were talking about, and that was just what she wanted. The clock was 12 Midday, and her job was done.

When the time hit eleven PM, she had logged into the online game ‘Augmented War’, which was an online game that allowed you to play in virtual reality. Virtual reality wasn’t something new anymore, it was a system well known, and was used for all gaming consoles now. But this game had been the latest installment in online gaming, and it had taken it to a new level with feeling and precise control of the avatar you played as. She logged in with her username ‘Sierra’ and pressed ‘Search for lobby’. It didn’t take long, as the game was very famous. She didn’t really care that much about the team she was on, as she could usually keep her team winning by her own score itself. She was good at the game, one of the best, but she had never wanted to go to the press or anything like that, or make money on it, even though she often got messages in the game from people saying that she was good and that she should really make money by joining tournaments and so on. But if she did that, her identity would come out, and she had done so much to make sure that her identity would stay hidden. Besides, this game was a way for her to relax without having to make any serious kills; it would be a shame if she had to destroy the game and the players that had met in her in the game, just because someone wanted her to become famous.

There was never a dull moment for the Section 0.

Umbrellaed under the Department of Cyber Terrorism, the government's response to the integrated techno-human evolution, Section 0 was perhaps the most secretive of its sections. Section 0 was small and comprised of law enforcement, military, and other personnel that were tapped directly by the director. Each individual was capable of functioning independently and the freedom to operate often came at odds with normal law enforcement. Their jurisdiction was indeed broad. Some operatives abused it while others held onto the idealistic idea of protecting humanity from a front for crime. Even with the many direct interventions that prevented greater chaos from ensuing, Section 0 was given no credit. No acknowledgement. They were ghosts that remained incognito. Only did they reveal themselves when a major operation needed to be carried out. They were ghosts.

Jamison walked past the crime scene holo-tape as she showed her badge to a nearby officer. He scanned it with his badge reader. His eyes widened ever so slightly before letting her pass. Walking to a nearby detective, she looked at the body. "Traloy McCallan." She crouched and looked at the body. It was real piece of work. Jamison would've concluded ordinance usage, but there were two pieces of evidence that rebutted that assertion. No witnesses reported any weapon discharge and the name 'Gravity Zero' on the billboard that overlooked the plaza. "Probably in his 40s. Business man from the looks of it. Iris?"

An AI appeared in her field of vision. She alone could see the AI while others couldn't. Several years ago, before joining Section 0, she had been a cop. Part of the Direct Action Tactical Teams, DATT for short. Someone in the sweep team didn't do their job, and she caught the back blow of an explosive device. She lost her eyes and her body was heavily scarred despite her protective equipment. Under the Federal Servant Care Act, the government covered what was lost in the line of duty, after reviewing that she had not intentionally done the damage herself but received it from the hazardous situation of the job.

She hated the augmentations at first. Years living with it, however, they became useful. She could see clearer than ever before. She could see heat, and monitor biometrics from a person. It was scary how much technology could put someone at an advantage. Only those with the proper clearance had access to these though. Unless you wanted to risk the black market, it was illegal except for high functioning operatives. Like Section 0. Plus, she got a friendly AI pal to help her with her day to day activities.

"I see the problem already. I'm pulling up his file," Iris said. Seconds later, a file downloaded into her cyber brain. "Married to a prominent business man. Nothing too incriminating background wise. I see several infractions for substance abuse and multiple complaints from certain persons. The complaints have been debunked however. The rest of the file is on the up and up. Shall I keep digging?"

Jamison pursed her lips. She pulled out a pair of gloves and manipulated the body. A gaping hole in McCallan's chest suggested something exploded his heart. The metal that innervated with his body turned to liquid. Hemorrhaging from various orifices. A biological virus could've explained the hemorrhaging but not the melted metal or the heart.

"Hey!"

Looking up from the body, the detective and several other officers had gathered around her. "You're ruining my crime scene. You know what we do-"

"I'm here as a courtesy to your police department," she said to the detective. The anger indicator in her field of vision started to spike. The man had a short temper. "Once I finish my inspection, I shall be on my way. In the meantime, stop talking."

"Why don't I arrest you for interfering with an investigation? Who even let you in? Show me your credentials."

The officers' fingers were all toying with their rifle triggers. She sighed. She showed them her badge. "Satisfied?"

The detective hmphed and walked away. The others slowly drifted off to. Good. She preferred it that way.

Looking back at the body, she contacted Zach, an analyst at Section 0's headquarters. "Jami here. I'm going to upload what I can from the victim's cyber plug. I doubt you'll find anything. It's a gory job."

"Well, why don't you send it, and we'll see?" Zach asked. She heard typing in the background. "Just got signal from the transmitter chip. Hold on. Shit. All the data's scrambled. This'll take a bit. So, Jami. Send pictures? Maybe of you would be nice."

She scoffed. "No."

"You're no fun."

"I'm standing next to a body."

"Oh. Still."

"How long will it take to salvage? Except for the billboard, there isn't much to go on. I can dive in myself, but we have tech nerds like you for a reason."

"Ouch," he said. "Either the poor sod ran into a hacker that really screwed up or a CK. I'm trying to find this Gravity Zero person. I bet its an avatar. Nothing. Only thing is leaving a mark. Kind of like the billboard you see. She's good."

"You found out the gender?"

"No. I just like assuming every suspect is a lady. You know? I've met some lady hackers, my god-"

"Focus."

"Yeah yeah. Give me a few hours. Hopefully I'll have something then."

Jamison killed the communication line. She took a few more pictures and took another look around. Nothing was left behind. The CK was a professional. Even cyber traces were limited, which worried Jamison a tad. Jotting a few notes down for later, she walked towards the detective who glowered at her. "You won't find anything physical here. Have your techs do some cyber work," she said. Jamison pointed back to the body. "He's all yours."

Taking off her gloves, she placed them in a nearby trash can. She had more work to do. This Gravity Zero was her next target.

Jamison stepped out of the industrial elevator that led to her warehouse apartment. Opening the door, she stepped in and breathed in a sigh of relief. It felt nice to come home after slogging it at the office. Checking her various physical and cyber wards, everything came back in the green. Security was something that came second only to her well-being. As an operative in a highly secretive branch of the government, everything ranging from her personal fire wall to the wards in her living quarters was taken seriously.

It wasn't fancy by any means, her apartment. Her couch was worn in while her TV hung off a wall. Her kitchen was old but still modern. Things were kept out on the counter while her blanket still laid unfolded on her couch. She often slept there instead of her bed. Too many late nights spent watching the TV or tipping back glasses of wine.

Settling on her couch, she positioned herself as comfortably as possible as she pulled up Augmented Wars. She usually didn't play video games, but this one was different. The player assumed the avatar directly and fought against others either for recreation or for money. She opted for the first reason. Money was covered though she did entertain the tournaments. Perhaps from her training, she was one of the top players. Her play style was aggressive but flexible. She adapted to what she saw from the enemy team and her teammates. Her team did frustrate her sometimes. No coherent movement or communication.

Logging on as her username 'Cypher', it took a few seconds for her to find a game. Her avatar materialized in the arena. Her armor was thick yet light enough to emphasize maneuverability. Her weapon of choice was a rifle that was meant for close to middle distance. The frame of her avatar, mainly from her armor, showed just enough curve to give her a feminine look; although, she tried to make her avatar as gender ambiguous as possible. The helmet she wore distorted her voice to make it sound robotic though some human inflection was kept.

Looking at her team roster, she looked at the names and recognized some. One stood out in particular. Sierra. She laughed. The game was going to be quick. Their team already had two top players including herself. The other three on her team she didn't recognize.

The counter read thirty more seconds before the arena doors opened. It was a simple elimination.

"Holy shit. Cypher and Sierra?" A tank avatar approached her then looked at Sierra's avatar. "Oh man. Oh man! I gotta snapshot this."

The other avatars made their way over and started to talk among themselves. Cypher (Jamison) laughed and looked over at Sierra. "You'd think they'd balance the teams. I suppose casual games don't really care for that. First time playing with you. Handicap or no handicap?"

Sierra’s, AKA Gravity Zero, character was wearing nothing but a tank top in the style of a corset (g01.a.alicdn.com/kf/HTB1FtVNIXXXXXbOXp..). On her legs, she wore baggy pants in black (g01.a.alicdn.com/kf/HTB1BuwoLFXXXXX8Xp..), which actually fit quite well with the tank top that she was wearing. She didn’t care much for armor, as she was a tech-stealth class. What her skills consisted of, was using rewards that you received once you had accumulated enough points, either through killing the enemy players, getting assisted kills in any way, or having used some other way to help your team or take down an enemy. She was rather good at that, and while she could handle both close combat and long ranged combat, she preferred the long range. She supposed it came from her real life, where she always operated from far away, hacking into peoples’ brains and systems. So for this match, she used a sniper rifle, which could be turned into an assault rifle as well, though it wouldn’t be as powerful as a normal assault rifle. The point-rewards she had chosen to play with during this match, were rewards that required quite a lot of points. She had a jammer reward, which jammed all controls for all players on the opposite team. This was of course, one of the most difficult rewards to get, which meant only the best of the best ever got to use it, and it lasted for about ten seconds. The second reward she played with was a reward that let her call in a gun ship equipped with broad laser cannons. Unless the gun ship was shot down, it would stay over the arena for five minutes, firing off four beams at once, in different places in the area. The last and third reward she played with was actually a reward many considered useless. It was a reward that only affected the team, and not her as such, which was why many people didn’t want to play with it. People wanted to play with something that helped themselves most of the times, but the idiots didn’t realize that this reward could gain you a lot of points, if used at the right time. It made the rest of the team gain tracking on their maps, so they could see the enemy position, but what people didn’t realize, or could make happen if they did realize it, was that if you used it with the jammer reward, your team would have a high chance of finding the enemies very fast. Plus, she would still get assisted kills and accumulate points from that, because it was a support reward. And while she liked to play by herself and not care about her team, this support reward was mostly based on gaining her more points, for her at least, as she would be able to use the laser cannons as well, to hit the jammed enemies.

She was a deadly woman in the game, and she would make sure that everyone knew that with every game she played in. Besides the clothing that she wore, her hair was dark red, and her skin was chocolate brown, nothing like the real her at all. She wore a pair of black sneakers on her feet as well. Her hair was short, only going down to the edge of her chins. While she stood there, she heard the tank avatar getting surprised to see her and Cypher. She had heard of Cypher before, but never actually played with her. But since they were both on the same team, it meant that the other team would have no chance of winning. Even so, Sierra wanted to take it serious, while having fun of course, and completely annihilate the enemy team. She turned her head to Cypher when she talked to her and gave her a small grin “Look at my wardrobe choice; I believe I can’t make it any more difficult for myself than this.” She said to Cypher’s question about the handicap or no handicap. “Games have never balanced teams in the sense of making it a fair fight. But I don’t care, no matter who I’m up against, I’m going to take them down, and that’s how it is.” She smiled. Her eyes were blue, the only thing on the avatar that was the same as her real life eyes. “As long as you don’t get in the way for a kill, I have no problems with you or the rest of the team, but I hate being obstructed by another player.” She said, then looked to the tank avatar “This also goes for you. I’m going to take down every last one of the other team, don’t get in the way and we’ll be fine.” She told him. She wondered how good this Cypher person was. If she was as good as the rumors said, then they would indeed have an interest match during this game, but that would be proved at the end of the round.

Now the countdown finished, and the match started. They were in a forest arena, with housing and treetops and jungle like terrain. Perfect for Sierra. She ran to the best sniping spot that were in the game, and laid down. Because she wore no armor, it was almost impossible to see her in the grass. She readied the sniper, which fired old-styled rifle bullets, and took aim. She could see almost the whole battlefield from this point. The downside to this spot, which was why many avoided it, was that it was difficult to hit targets far away, even if you were a sniper, as there were many trees in the way, plus, there was a long way down to the other side of the battlefield, even when you had a sniper. But of course, Sierra saw no problem with this, and as soon as she was in place, she started firing. In the first five minutes of the match, she had managed to take down ten of the enemy team. Of course, they respawned and joined the fight again, but it made no difference, she kept taking them down. To make it more fun for herself, she started to give away the enemy position to her team members, just to make it an even bigger pain for the enemy team. Soon she had killed fifteen “First reward is being activated. Team gaining trackers on their maps.” She said. Then she took down five more, one bullet per enemy. “Second reward activated, jamming the enemy signal now.” She said to the team, through the avatar-voice chat system that was in the game. The points quickly accumulated high, and she took down four more, making it twenty-four, while the jamming reward was up and running. She gained the last reward now and she activated it “Gun ship, laser cannon reward, activated. Don’t get in the way for the lasers.” She said with a small grin. There were two seconds left of the jamming, but the lasers managed to take out five of the twenty enemy players that were on the map in those two seconds, while it kept being active through the next five minutes. It was a piece of cake to win this match, their kill score already read 140, while the other teams score read 30. They just needed sixty points more to win, and then this match would be over.

Even though everyone could hear when someone talked, Sierra still talked more directly to Cypher when she spoke again “Hope you’re having fun with your first time playing with me. Seems like we’re close to winning just after seven minutes.” She grinned a little. “But I suppose, when you fight like me and you, that’s just-“ she stopped talking, and for a second she didn’t say anything. Someone had come running from behind her, but she managed to turn around fast and shoot the enemy at close range with the sniper, effectively sending the enemy’s dead body flying back. She then turned back to look out over the arena “-How things are. At least for me, I win every match I’m in.” she grinned. It was going to be fun to play with Cypher, as she proved to be quite a good player as well. If this kept going, she was even inclined to try to make a team with Cypher. Sierra knew of a few good players that would be interested in creating such a team, even though none of them, including Sierra, ever played as a real team fighter. Though if all of them were good, there would be no reason to play as a team, as they would completely annihilate the enemy team before the first ten minutes had passed, so all of them could still fight any way they wanted, without having to worry about the others on the team. But that was just an idea for now, she wasn’t highly interested in it, but it was an entertaining thought. “Score count is reading 190, ten more kills and we win.” She said. And in the next thirty seconds, the team scored the last ten kills. They were all returned to the lobby again and Sierra was about to play more, but she heard her computer getting an email, and when she got an email, it meant that there was someone interesting to check out, either to rob them blind of their money, or to go for another kill. And while she was off work for the day, it didn’t hurt to take a look at the new target. She left the lobby, with her score for the match reading 80 kills, 0 deaths, and 60 assists. She left the game open and send a message to Cypher “Good playing, should play more often, for the fun of it. Will leave game open for communication. But got some stuff to do.” And with that, she went to check her email.

Cypher was surprised by Sierra's response though she probably shouldn't have been. It took a special type of someone to make their way to the top of a leaderboard. Unlike the other games that circulated the market, Augmented War took into account a person's natural abilities via the reflexes him or her already possessed. Stats did increase when one leveled up, but that foundational reflex was what set apart the good players from the top players. Cypher certainly didn't have the time to practice like some of the top players, she surmised, but her occupation already drilled in elite operative reflexes. Because of that, the game really gelled with her. She wasn't looking to be the best. Her having fun put her there. The popularity was unnerving.

Merely nodding to Sierra, Cypher checked her weapon as the timer began to countdown. The other players were talking among themselves. Cypher wondered how long it'd take to secure the round. Surely not long.

The match begun. Cypher sprinted towards cover. Sighting the enemy players, she started to let out controlled bursts of fire. Beginning to rack up points for her team, she kept firing into the enemy ranks while shifting her fire to suppress flankers. Red icons popped up onto her HUD courtesy of Sierra. Checking the scoreboard, she was amazed at how many kills Sierra had already gotten. What surprised her even more was the following perks the player called on. Especially the gunship. If that wasn't overpowered, she didn't know what was.

Cypher wasn't content on not doing her part however.

Peeling away from her cover, she vanguarded into the enemy rank. Activating her suits shield barriers, she activated her adrenaline power as her senses her heightened. Sighting enemy players, she began to pull her trigger as she began to build up her kill ratio. A few bullets pelted into her shield, but it held. She'd used it enough to know its limits.

Hearing Sierra's voice over the chat, Cypher smiled as she placed a bullet between the eyes of an enemy she kicked down. "And that makes 200."

Transported back to the lobby, Cypher gave a thumbs up to her teammates before leaving the lobby like Sierra. It was best to leave if you were a top player. Kept the lower players from badgering you too much.

About to look for another game, she received a message from Sierra. She opened it. Staying in her private HUD, she sent a message back. "That was by far one of the quickest matches I've been in. It was fun." Cypher pursed her lips before clicking on Sierra's profile. She sent her a friend request. "If I'm on, give me a shout. See if we can't raise some more hell."

Sierra heard the message sound appear while she was checking out her target. She opened the game window again and read the mail with a small grin. “We’ll see. Maybe we can play together another time, though I don’t normally take on friend requests.” She said, but accepted her anyway. It was rare that you found someone that was as good as Cypher, so it could be fun to have her as a friend in the game. However, she had to get back to her email to see who the next target was. It proved to be a politician, one that wanted to expand military power and close off borders for people that wanted to come and live in the country. That in itself, was not a crime, even though Gravity Zero didn’t agree with him, what was a crime though, was that her intel suggested that this male politician, Garvy, had received huge sums of money from companies that created weapons for the use of warfare. In these days, there were companies that made weapons for defensive times and only sold their weapons to the army if they had a contract that said it would be to defend and not to start a war. Though there were also companies that wanted to go to war as they could benefit heavily from that, and they gave Garvy a lot of money to try and push for more provocative politics that could result in warfare, and an increased income for those companies. But it was illegal for a politician to get involved with anything that had with national security to do, which meant that while it was a political agenda, it was still lawbreaking, and Gravity Zero didn’t need any more reason than that.

Five days later, she was sitting with the technology tube attached to her back again, and she was hacking into Garvy. She searched through the thousands of tech-DNA that was in the city, until she found his. Then she latched herself onto it and forced her mind into his systems. Now that she was inside him, she could see that he was in a meeting with someone, on a top floor of a building. This was going to be a lot of fun, and more brutal than the last one she had killed. She waited though, wanting to see what would happen. A case was presented to Garvy on the table in front of him and when it was opened, there was a prototype of a weapon inside. Supposedly, it was a gun that should be able to dismember any soldier on the field, mechanical or human, without making a big mess. A clean cut, so to speak. Gravity Zero grinned “Perfect.” She said to herself. Before long, she had complete control over Garvy’s body, and played a long with the meeting, while Garvy’s only possible action was to look at the whole scene unfold, without being able to say or do anything else. “We hope you like our new advances for warfare, this gun should provide excellent and fast results.” One of the weapon dealers said. Gravity Zero forced Garvy to smile and take the gun. She could get three birds with one gun here, and she would, besides Gravy breaking the law, the weapon dealers were as well, as they perfectly knew that getting into politics was an illegal act for them as well. She raised the gun fast, and before the two dealers could react, she made Garvy fire the gun. A lazer blade shot out from it and cleaned both of their heads in half, splatting the whole room with blood and brains, killing them on the spot. Garvy tried to gain control without knowing what was going on, but he couldn’t do anything. Gravity Zero then turned the gun to the arm she wasn’t using, and fired it, cutting the arm off from the shoulder. Blood was flowing out heavily, but she wasn’t done yet. She broke the glass window in the room, threw the gun out of the room and grabbed the arm that had been shot off, which was still whole without any damage to it, other than it was no longer attached to Garvy’s body. Then she turned towards the broken window, and ran and made Garvy jump out while holding the severed arm. She didn’t leave Garvy’s body until he was halfway down the building, and then Garvy was allowed to scream, though he only managed to do it for five seconds before he hit the ground and pretty much made blood fly everywhere. Again, it was in a crowded street, though today it was raining, so the blood was flowing with the water rapidly. Because of the technology in the blood, Gravity Zero could take control of it, at least for a short while until it was no longer responsive. She made the blood gather in the water, and wrote “GRAVITY ZERO” in cursive bold letters on the ground, and with that, she logged out and detached herself from her hacking devices in her apartment. This could have been a clue to the police department about who she was, but the thing about this was, that taking control of the technology inside blood, was something that was very very difficult to do, and only someone who was either a very highly evolved VI, or had a hell of a lot augmentation inside their body, would be able to do something like this, and even then, the blood was taken control of, AFTER the host had died, which meant Garvy couldn't be the one to do it.

Six days later, it was a Saturday evening. She had agreed to meet up with Cypher, after they had managed to play a lot of rounds together. It proved to be more fun, and challenging, than she had expected, and it seemed that Cypher had thought the same. Gravity Zero still didn’t know if Cypher was the woman’s real name, but she supposed it wasn’t, like Sierra wasn’t her real name either. People would probably think she was making a joke if she told them that her real name, or at least the one she considered to be real, and the only one she remembered, to be Gravity Zero, but to her, it was her name and she wanted to keep it. This Saturday, she was meeting with Cypher at around 10 PM in the Burst Galaxy Bar. It was a bar that had an age limit that said twenty-three. They wanted to keep the younger crowd out, and have a place where the richer customers could be allowed to drink and let loose, without having to be annoyed by people who tried to make them pay for drinks. If you came to this place, it was because you could afford it. You were allowed to take a friend with you, that weren’t up in the high salary parts yet, as long as you took care of them, but no more than one. Gravity Zero wasn’t sure if Cypher was actually rich or whatever, but since she was allowed to bring a friend, she saw no harm in meeting with Cypher in a place that actually allowed them to talk and meet, without dumb youngsters interfering. Gravity Zero was dressed in a long black sleeved shirt and long black baggy jeans. None of her skin was exposed though. Her skin was also working rather well today, so she didn’t need gloves on her hands, though she did have to wear her mask as that part of her face was impossible to do anything about. She could still drink though, as she could manage to slip a straw underneath the mask, without exposing the real sight of her lower half of her face. She didn’t wear any underwear, as it was rather uncomfortable with the way her body was now, but it couldn’t be seen from the way she dressed. On her feet, she wore black socks and a pair of black high heels. Basically everything was black, the only thing that was slightly different, was her dark brown hair, that was on the border of being black, but not quite there. She had changed her eyes to the color of blue, so that she didn’t give away how much of her body was augmented. Her eyes normally had a silver color, but it was impossible to be born with that color, and not many people had the augmentations needed to change the eye color to silver, so it was better not to raise any suspicion, as she already had to explain her mask, probably. Her own augmentation did make it possible for her to change to another eye color, though she had to update her systems if she wanted to change what colors to change from, as she could only have one besides her original silver color.

She was sitting up at the bar now. The reason the bar had the name it did, was because the whole ceiling of the bar and the walls, looked like the real galaxy and universe. If you didn’t know it were walls and ceiling, you could easily have been fooled to think it was the real thing, that was how real it looked to anyone that was new to the bar. It also proved that the bar was expensive, as it took quite a heavy load of cash to get something like that made on the walls and the ceiling. She had a drink in front of her; her hair was loose and hanging down to the middle of her body right now. She was waiting for Cypher to show up, and she was unsure what Cypher actually looked like, but she had given a description of herself to Cypher and had told the door attendant that if someone came to ask for Sierra, as that was the name she had decided to use for tonight, he should let the woman inside. Now all she had to do, was wait for Cypher to show up, and see how this evening and night would turn out.

Jamison pinched the bridge of her nose. Her headache threatened to split open her skull. Skipping morning coffee was a poor choice she should have learned years ago. No matter how busy you were, making time for coffee was God given responsibility. Unlike any other day on the job, though there wasn't anything 'normal' about her occupation, another murder had occurred. Murder in general was quite common this day and age, but this one had a unique MO.

Gravity Zero. She stood in the middle of the busy street where they body had fallen from the window above. It should've been a suicide or maybe a deal gone bad, but the circumstances were inconsistent with that conclusion. Garvy, a prominent politician, was the victim. His arm had been removed by a weapon Forensics found on scene. Two other bodies were found though their identities were still trying to be identified. There was going to be fall out for this death though. Given the man's standing within the government, questions would be asked. Given the direct assassination of a politician, a solo operation was probably about to end. Section 0 would have to mobilize. Its operatives would start levying more power with this Gravity Zero. Headquarters was probably diverting a bulk of its precious free resources to this Gravity Zero. Maybe even pull off of current ops. What was this assassin's angle?

"Iris." Jamison hooked her feed to the AI. Her eyes roamed over the body. She stooped down and shifted her gaze towards the blood. "Our assassin isn't subtle."

"Odd but not unheard of. Many examples of assassins leaving a mark exist throughout history. Would you like examples?"

Jamison grunted. She stooped down and retrieved a vial and scooped some blood into it. She pressed a button as the vial lit up. "I'm sending over a sample. Don't trust the locals to send information over."

"Organization scuffles. Humans are odd."

"You're telling me," Jamison said. She stood up and surveyed the scene. There was little else she could do. All she could do now was write up her report and submit it to headquarters. Downtime was about to become sparser than it already was. Why did that stupid assassin have to go after a government official? Jamison almost felt sorry for the killer. Section 0 was extremely good at what it did. Counter act cyber terrorism of any kind. 'Cry havoc! Let loose the dogs of war'. She shook her head at the quote. She'd been reading too much in her spare time.

Walking out of the crime scene, Jamison moved over to her car. She got in the black SUV and started it up. A mountain of paperwork awaited her. And sending that blood sample too. But first, she needed a cup of dark roast coffee.

The office called to her, but Jamison needed to step away from the case. Like she guessed, her soloing on Gravity Zero had changed into a team effort. Analyst were pulling together everything that had anything that smelled of Gravity Zero while agents were following up on leads with whatever means necessary. It was an awesome responsibility. An agent could do everything from pull information bypassing lawful means to interrogating suspects. Some took advantage of the system, but Section 0's internal inspectors kept everything in check. However, the inspectors knew better than to keep agents on too short of leash. Too much and the efficiency would go down.

Tonight, however, Jamison was heading out. A rather rare adventure since she joined the Section. After playing with Sierra some more, they agreed to meet in person. Something Jamison never thought she'd ever agree to do. Initially, she should've said no. Keep gaming and life separate. They got along well though. Jamison played regularly with a very small select group of players. However, she played with Sierra most often. They hadn't lost a single match, which made their teammates happy. Free loaders riding the work of the skilled. Nothing you could do about that though.

Finding herself standing before the Burst Galaxy Bar, she regarded the building. It was elegant yet urban. Doing her research of the place before hand, she knew this bar didn't let the common rubble in. Affluent, influential, and intrepid. That's how she'd describe the clientele this bar attracted. Given the twenty-three age restriction, the younger crowd dilemma was all but eliminated. Admittedly, Jamison herself didn't belong here. She had significant influence and connections to the upper echelon of society. She was extremely good at her job. What she didn't have was the discretionary funds. She didn't have the capital to be considered 'average' for a place like this. Jamison dressed like she normally did on a day off with her rich brown hair tied in a messy bun. She didn't know what to expect at a place like this. Hopefully they gave points for the attitude.

Entering the bar, she walked towards the door attendant. "I'm meeting a friend here. Sierra."

The attendant gave her a once over. She wanted to punch him straight in the fucking jaw. "ID please."

Jamison made sure to hand over her civilian ID.

Checking it through a scanner, the attendant handed it back to her. "Head on in. Welcome to the Burst Galaxy Bar."

Moving through the space, it was way nicer than her normal frequented locations. The party, sex, and drugs vibe was missing, which she didn't mind at all. It wasn't her cup of tea to begin with. Her eyes scanned the room. Looking for someone that matched the description Sierra gave her.

Moving towards the bar area, she caught sight of someone matching the description. The mask was the last give away. Why did the woman have to wear a mask? The thought plagued Jamison's thoughts as she neared. Other than that, Jamison was surprised - relieved - to see that her meet up wasn't some ogre that pretended to be someone they weren't. If this was Sierra, she actually looked ... nice.

"Excuse me? Are you Sierra?" The woman was already sipping on a drink throw a straw that slipped underneath her mask. Jamison did feel a bit childish for asking the question. "Does Cypher ring a bell? If not, I've got the wrong person."
