He chuckled softly, sinking down onto the floor beside her with a sigh. "They're hanging in there, I think." he answered her question, blinking sadly. "I worry about Robyn sometimes, but she's not going to be happy until she finds Aleu...and I don't want to pressure her by forcing her into other duties." by now, Chincf was beginning to worry that if they ever did find the pup sitter it would be in the form of one of those strange-smelling corpses, but he wouldn't say it out loud. "That's not the kind of alpha I want to be." he touched his nose to her ear fondly. "We'll manage, we always have."

Tikaani

Tikaani glanced over at the alpha pair, her tail wagging ever so slightly. She was more than happy for her brother, and the new little ones would be good for pack morale as well, after everything that had happened. She considered Luna's question, nodding absently. "Yeah, I guess it would. I never really thought about it too much before." she admitted sheepishly. Having pups of her own had never been the top of Tikaani's priorities list, she was content patrolling the pack's borders and keeping them safe for the other pups. But that wasn't to say that she wouldn't be open to the possibility, if a particular male found his way into her heart. "Must be something special though."

Saaba
The biting chill had left the air, and with the weather more pleasant, Saaba had taken to sunning herself just outside the mouth of the cave whenever it wasn't her turn to hunt. Her eyes were closed, and she didn't see the adolescent tiger cub prowling towards her until Calypso's full weight landed sprawled over her shoulders, needle sharp teeth biting into her ear. Letting out a long-suffering groan, the tigress rolled over onto her side to try and dislodge the cub.
"Calypso...can't you sneak up on Avir or Rosette for once? Maybe you should go with Kayla and Jackie on their next hunting lesson?" she complained about how annoying the cub was, but Saaba was attached to Calypso now since they had been looking after her. They'd lost Ezy a few nights after the little group of tigers had joined together, the young cub just too frail to survive the bitter winter. Calypso on the other hand, had survived and was growing very well on the prey they were managing to catch. Though the strange smelling kills and the occasional wolf or tiger body that they came across was a bit unsettling....

Luna laid her head on her rather large paws, which were larger than was normal for her tiny shape. Her reddish eyes blinked and she let out a tiny huff. She then began to lick herself, trying to get the dirt off her white fur. She said, stopping for a moment, "I think it would be nice, you know...?" The she began to lick herself again. Her fur was matted, missing clumps of once soft and lovely fur, and there were many scars all over her body, especially around the muzzle and one very prominent scar over her red left eye.

Robyn sighed as Axel spoke. "Nothing. It seems she really disappeared into thin air." She replied before sitting next to the male. "You could say that it's not only for you." She thought that if she tried to act like she was happy, like before, that it will actually make her feel that way. The she-wolf scanned the clearing, most of the wolves have exited their dens and she could see her mentor laying down on a rock, the Alphas were conversing and Tikaani was conversing with the albino wolf.

She always felt guilty when she sees Tikaani. With Robyn always going off to look for Aleu, she's been placing a huge burden on Tikaani to do the job on her own. And she had been overworking herself lately, or so Robyn heard, because of the incident and to cover for her. "I'm thinking of giving up Axel. I can't burden Tikaani any further than this. And I'm sure the others are worrying about me." She said, in a matter-of-fact voice. "Although I would be delighted to see her, whether she is alive or well..." She shook her head and then looked down. "At least, I want her to be sent off properly." Her parents disappeared as well, died out of the border and further away than what the Patrol wolves could go to. So they were never buried properly. She, at least, wanted to see Aleu get buried, if anything, to give closure.

The tiger always padded off somewhere in the early hours of morning, and this day wasn't any different. He padded through the woods with no aim. What does he do in the morning? Convene with a female wolf whose name he did not know. He had to know what was causing those foul stenched corpses. They were certainly not good for them. The sound of feathers ruffling caught his attention and he turned his attention to the mass of birds who flew away. A waste of a perfect opportunity huh? Avir dug up where he stored his early kills - two voles - and then began heading back to the cave. He wasn't on hunting duty though, but his walks often opened up the opportunity to get some prey.

Over the moons they had been together, Avir had settled in nicely with the two tigresses. He still didn't like sitting around for too long, but he didn't mind their presence as much as he did before. He often found himself enjoying them being there. But he kept a certain distance, who knows how much dread he will feel when they would separate from each other after raising the cubs. Seeing Calypso and Saaba, he dropped the voles near them. "Calypso has a knack for sneaking around huh? She'd make a perfect hunter. I'll start teaching Kayla and Jackie later on, maybe you should come Calypso." He took it upon himself to train the two cubs in the art of hunting and he wouldn't mind finally teaching this young one as well.

Tikaani

The fur on Tikaani's shoulders twitched uncomfortably, and the other she-wolf shrugged. She'd never been so sure about being a mother, the idea had never appealed to her at all and she didn't like the idea of being stuck in a den all day having to care for pups. "Guess so. I mean, I don't think I'd want to be a mother personally but hey that's not to say it's not. Everyone looks at things differently." she scooted a little closer, leaning over to nibble at a hard to reach clump of matted fur between the albino wolf's ears. "Well, one day if you find the right male I'm sure it'll happen." she mumbled reassuringly. Chincf and Lila seemed rather relaxed about other wolves in the pack having pups of their own so it was a possibility in the future.

Saaba
"Please, do." Saaba grunted, playfully swiping at the young cub, who was now chewing on the older tigress' ear. "It would give me a moment's peace without being treated as a teething toy!" her tail twitched as she looked over at Avir, knowing he often simply went for walks these days to check out the territory and try to find stuff out; though she had no idea he was conversing with a wolf. "How was your walk?" worry shone in her eyes at the question. They were finding the wasteful kills more often now and it was becoming rather worrying. What if one of their group could be next on the line? "Did you find out anything new?"

Luna seemed surprised about Tikaani helping groom the lost cause that was her fur. Her reddish eyes looked at the older she-wolf. But soon she relaxed into the other wolf. Her eyes closed slightly and she said, "Thanks, Tikaani..." She finished trying to groom herself and laid her head on her large paws with a tiny huff.

Carek caught up to Zoru.

"I- respected elder. How've you been in these strange times? Feels like it's been forever since I've had a chance to talk with anyone in this pack" he said, not quite sure why his grasp of time had been so odd lately.

Rosette and her two cub were just side the entrance to the cave to far away in case something were to happen.Her cubs wanted to run around early in the morning outside the cave and she gave in when they both started to pounce on her with newfound energy she had no idea where it came from. Kayla and Jackie had been running around for a few hours now chasing each other back and forth and running in and out and around my legs.When I saw Avir come back as he was heading back to the cave with a fresh kill it was time to head back to the cave.

"Kayla,Jackie it's time to head back to the cave little ones, Avir has returned." Rosette told her young ones.

"Aww but we want to have some more fun out here." Kayla whined

"Don't make me repeat myself. Now back to the cave you too." Rosette said again.

Kayla and Jackie looked at each other and the Jackie spoke up. "Hey Kayla race you back to the cave" Jackie said and then took off to the cave.

"Hey you cheated Jackie get back here" Kayla said running after her. Kayla had one even though Jackie had the head start. Rosette looked at Avir, Saaba and the Calypso as she went to lay down at the mouth of the cave while Kayla and Jackie went back to playing. Rosette looked over at Calypso.

"Why dont you join them Calypso I bet they would love for you to play with them." Rosette said.

"Yeah Calypso come join us" Kayla called over from where they were playing and Jackie did the same.

Rosette just smiled and looked over at Saaba and Avir. "So how are the two of you, what did I miss when I was out with my little ones?" Rosette asked.

Tikaani's ears perked up at hearing Luna mumble a thanks towards her. "No problem!" she answered, the tip of her tail wagging slightly as she added: "It's uncomfortable when your fur gets into knots like this." her voice was slightly muffled as she pulled on a particularly stubborn tuft of fur with her teeth, "Especially when you can't reach em and you don't have anyone to help you. That's the nice thing about having packmates." she finished untangling as much of the albino she-wolf's fur as she could, settling next to her again. She glanced sideways at Luna and asked slowly. "Did you....have a pack before you came to us? A family? What happened to them?" she hoped it wasn't too sensitive a subject for her to ask about.

Saaba
Saaba looked up as she heard high-pitched voices shrieking to see Kayla and Jackie streaking towards them, their mother Rosette ambling behind them at a much more respectable pace. The two cubs didn't even stop to breathe for a moment before they were wrestling with one another as Rosette came to join her.
"Not awful much." Saaba answered the other tigress' question, twitching an ear to get rid of a fly that had settled there. "I was just soaking up the sun and Calypso decided she was going to practise her stalking skills...on my tail." she chuckled fondly, giving the young cub a playful scowl as she nudged Calypso's shoulder with the end of her muzzle. "Go on, go play with Jackie and Kayla and let the grown-ups have a nap. Maybe if Avir's not tired he'll take you for a lesson."

Luna closed her eyes and sighed. "Might as well say..." She looked at the older She-wolf. "Well...I belonged to another pack, yes. I was the daughter of the Alpha... Even as a pup I was a hopeless romantic..." She laid her head on her large paws. "I fell in love with a male wolf from another pack as a younger wolf. We were seeing each other when I caught the scent of the Alpha from his pack as well as my own. I...I refused to kill him myself, which pissed off the Alpha from my former pack, who killed him. We retreated, where member of my pack took turn clawing and biting me for my offense. I used to not have all this matted and knotted fur...I used to be quite the looker. Until that day." She chuckled, though it was an almost bitter sound. "Funny how love nearly killed me...And yet...I need to love, it doesn't feel right closing myself off. Like I said, hopeless."

Zoru looked up to see Carek padding over to him. Zoru changed his position so he was now sitting down instead of laying down. "Greetings Carek. You've been awfully busy these past few days hm? What with the odd scents, wasted prey and unusual kills." To be honest, everyone in the pack had been busy these past few moons. When winter rolled off, things had took a turn for the worse instead of the better. Wolves died, disappeared and now this incident was happening. Zoru had that small hope that they could rest in this season, apparently not.

"The walk had been relatively fine." Avir answered that first before looking at the young cub with them, worried that she might understand what they were talking about. However, he looked back at Saaba and continued, "I've convened with my contacts to see if we've found something else. Unfortunately, everything we've seen is just the same. Wasted kills. I'm afraid we're not making any progress." The tiger sighed after. Even with the join cooperation of the wolf and him, they were still no closer to finding the culprit, unfortunately enough.

His ear twitched and he turned his head towards the incoming pups and their mother. He watched in amusement as they began playing/wrestling with each other, reminding Avir of his past when he was but a young cub with a family. He stopped his memories from flowing in and gave them a grin, "Heya." He greeted. The grin disappeared and melted into a smile as Rosette closed in. "Just my daily report on the incident. Nothing too big." He replied. "As for how I am, well, I'm quite looking forward to the hunting lesson at least."

"I suppose that's a good assessment. Yeah, I've been busy. Best to get sustenance while we still can. No knowing when something will disrupt our food supply. But that's winter for you." He sniffed the air, unsure as to what the scent he had picked up was. It smelled like rotting meat, but nothing like any carcass he had ever dealt with before.

"Has something happened around here? Anything I should be aware of?"

"I can't even remember a time I had that much energy or if I ever did" Rosette said. Rosette looked to Avir as the little ones played within the cave. "I dont like all these wasted kills showing, it worries me a little not knowing who is leaving them there." Rosette said. "It makes no sense as to why they would waste a perfectly good kill like that, it makes it easier for us but it is still not good." Rosette said "thats good my girls really love going out will you for the lessons and i want to thank you again for teaching them." Rosette said smiling.

She leaned into his side as he laid beside her and let out a soft hum as he spoke. "No, it's not but at the same time, we really can't afford for there to be lapses in the pack's strength. Tikaani could use a break, I can see that now just looking at her, but I can understand why Robyn keeps searching, Desaius was a very dear friend of mine and so was Aleu, if I could have, I probably would've been diving straight into the search as well," Lila said then looked to their pups. "But... perhaps it's finally time to let go and focus on the future. I'll speak with Robyn a little later, for now, I'd like to enjoy spending a little time with you," She said, giving him a playful nip on his shoulder.

He sighed and nodded, hesitantly giving Robyn a comforting nudge. "I can patrol with you if you'd like, two sets of eyes can be better than one and who knows? Maybe we'll stumble across something," He said.

The cub let out an indignant growl as she was so easily batted away by Saaba. She only wanted to play with the older tigress and she'd been cooped up in their cave since she'd gotten sick. Now she was finally better and wanted to expend her energy like all prime hunters did! Only Calypso didn't know how to hunt yet so Saaba's ears and tail would just have to substitute for her prey. "But ma-I mean, Saaba, I'm bored...." She whined, perking up when Avir returned, bounding over to the male with a happy giggle, flopping onto the ground and swatting at his legs with what she felt was a mighty roar but in reality was a sort of loud mewling sound. When Rosette showed up with Kayla and Jackie, she didn't have to be told twice to go play, eager to have playmates that would actually play. "What should we play?" Calypso asked, pouncing on a nearby pebble.

At the mention of his littermate, Chincf glanced across at Tikaani, who was sitting with Luna. His sister's eyes were beginning to appear glassy, betraying the exhaustion she was trying so desperately hard to hide from him. "I know. I've told her to rest for today." he rumbled. "She seems to be getting on well enough with Luna, hopefully she'll relax for once." he chuckled softly and nipped at her ears in return. "Well, everything's quiet for now, so I'm all yours."

Tikaani whined softly as she listened to Luna talk about her past. "I'm sorry, Luna. That...must have been difficult for you." she nuzzled the other wolf comfortingly. "You're safe here now." she promised.

"Who knows why they do it." Saaba mumbled, her ears twitching uneasily. "They don't even smell like any predator I've ever known, I don't like it...not at all." She looked towards Avir, who seemed to have no better idea of the mystery even with all his exploration.
