As mentioned in my last post (through the edit), I've completed (outside of possibly missing spells and one other detail) Firion's character sheet.

While it's not finished yet, I also present you (especially Raddum) with this:

On a side note -- I know it's too late at this point, but it still feels weird having this in the 1x1 forum when there's three of us.

I'm so fucking lazy and dead. I'll try and respond to some of the above at some point, but this is just a head's up that I'm not certain of when that will be. Can hardly even reply to my 1x1's right now.

Alright, Layle is officially on the characters tab and Jegran is up just now as well. On the 1x1 thing, yeah I get what you mean. It's a bit weird, but it's the best place to do a small, group RP.

For all intents and purposes, Firion and Terra are both finished outside of minor tweaking (deciding if certain things are exclusive to 'EX Mode', working out if I should list other magic spells, et cetera), and I'm still working out a detail involving Terra's possible second weapon (I might just be removing it). They're more or less ready for comments, and it won't be long until I deal with those final tweaks and post them both into the character tab.

I've seen a few other 1x1 forum threads that were accepting more members down the line, so it's okay -- just a little misleading, but don't worry.

Also -- I've thought about it, and I decided to put a link to the weapon of characters as well if the link exists.

Edit: I felt like it was time to ask this, but when are we able to do our first IC posts? Is there a posting order, by the way? I'm about ready to open up with my first post, honestly. Unless we want Chaos to be the opening post, I'm thinking I should start with Emperor Mateus to set the whole 'distortion' thing I discussed earlier. We also need to decide if the 'Heir of Hell' contract is happening in our opening posts or if it's already happened.

Here's how my head has laid this down. Cosmos will be the opening post. She'll have hesitated to summon her warriors out of guilt for dragging them into her war, but will eventually do so.

Meanwhile, Chaos will have already summoned his warriors. While talking to Marche, The Emperor will have done the Heir of Hell contract with him. Immediately after, he'll interfere in the summoning of Cosmos's warriors by scattering them. Thoughts?

I see where you're coming from -- basically, there's no need for me to reveal how I messed with the summoning until it becomes a plot point, since it keeps things mysterious. Technically speaking, the storyline should be from the perspective of the heroes anyway and not the villains, so it makes sense for me to be enigmatic with The Emperor until it's relevant. Marche probably works as the best eyes for the reader to the villain's side, since he's not a legit villain.

Let me know if you want any of the specifics for what The Emperor did, and I'll tell you over the OOC -- otherwise I'm going to assume you want to be surprised like everyone else will be. Like I said, this isn't the only instance of him 'sabotaging' this particular cycle; in fact, his presence here is an example of it. I'm actually thinking the fact that new characters - both alternate incarnations and those who haven't been part of the cycles before - being here is a result of what he's doing as well. Without spoiling anything, I'll just say he had some foreknowledge about the cycles existing before he arrived.

Also, should I just assume you don't see any issues with my character sheets?

Yeah, pretty much summed it up. As for the character sheets - no, not really. My characters are pretty powerful too, so it's all good.

Speaking of which, I need to put up Kain. Also, let me ask you about characters. You mentioned Golbez, Cecil, Auron and Exdeath.

Any of these still sticking, or are you satisfied with what you have now?

Further, when everybody's characters are set, which heroes do you think should go with each other? which heroes do you think would go best together in a group, based on personalities?

I'm going to respond to your questions about the characters I plan to bring over first, posting it afterwards so you have something immediately to respond to. I'll give my thoughts about our parties afterwards and edit it in, or put it in my next response if you reply to me first.

Depending on the limit (if one exists) to how many characters you want involved in this altogether, I could probably see myself introducing several more. It really wouldn't work as a Dissidia cycle if there was only three or four members on each side. Without spoiling any of the how or why, one of the ideas I've had in my head for how The Emperor messed with this cycle involves the idea that not all of the warriors were summoned immediately, and more can progressively come to increase the numbers or replace those who're wiped out. I guess give me your thoughts on this, since I've got no idea if you had a cap in mind.

Cecil and Golbez are my most likely next candidates to bring over. While we don't have to do it, I feel like it's always a good idea to counterbalance a hero from one of the games with at least one villain, or vice versa. I like Golbez, so he works as a counterbalance to Kain, but I've also been planning to bring over Cecil. Since the villains are more powerful anyway it probably doesn't matter if they're outnumbered, especially given some of them can create mooks and they're more likely to have summons right off the bat.

Auron is mostly a result of me thinking it would be a good idea to have a more 'veteran' hero character to counterbalance a lot of the younger ones -- that, and he's a badass that I want to play. I've considered Jecht - as mentioned in the other thread - mostly to counterbalance either Auron or Tidus (if @Raddum used him, but there's no obligation there since I want Auron), since I can already play 'Anti-Villain' with Golbez. It all depends on whether or not I can think of something interesting to do with Jecht like I've done with each character so far. The same applies to Exdeath, except in his case his presence here will actually move part of The Emperor's plotline forward easier. I didn't want him just to be a plot device though. Since Raddum mentioned going with Galuf possibly, it was the perfect opening.

Really, just assume that there's several characters from various games that I've got an interest in playing, but I'll always wait - like I did with the first three - until I get a really good idea for what I could do with them in the plot before I commit to posting up the character sheet. Once the idea is in my mind, you'll probably see said sheet within a day or so.

Edit: Also, we both completely forgot that I'm considering Warrior of Light and Garland, though - given the corrupted nature of this cycle - don't be surprised if they're a bit different/interesting too.

Okay then, not much to say, but thanks for letting me know on the character front. As for a character cap, not really. At this point, a limit would just stifle creativity.

Honestly, the whole vibe I'm getting from you was summed up right there. You seem to be fully on board with all creative ideas I'm contributing - to make this more interesting than just another cycle - that would normally be in a GM's hand, and I appreciate it.

Another question has come to mind -- have you established an actual reason for why another cycle of Dissidia can even take place at all? My understanding of the lore was that the final cycle (the first Dissidia game) more or less brought the cycles to a conclusion once and for all. I'm assuming this story takes place after that - if it has any connection to that franchise at all - so I felt this is an important question. To the best of my knowledge, Cosmos and Chaos haven't even been brought up in the new Dissidia game, making me think - if it has a plotline on the PS4 release - that it might be a new storyline. If you don't have a reason, I'll create one.

I'm currently reading up on the characters that you guys introduced, since I'm not too savvy about some of the games in the franchise that aren't part of the main series. Once I've got a better understanding of them, I can suggest all my ideas for the parties. Expect a response in an hour at the latest. Just so I know, are you thinking two groups of three or three groups of two (assuming we get six heroes off the bat), or should we just assume groups of two in general and then add a third one in if there's an uneven number? I wasn't sure if we wanted to make sure all three of us were in each party. If we count Kain, there's five heroes so far -- unless I get Cecil posted up or @Raddum adds another hero, then it's six.

First Edit: Done a little bit of my research. Still thinking, but I'll give my first thoughts. Since I haven't gotten an answer about how many parties we want to break them into, all my comments will assume groups of two for the time being.

  • Firion: If you've read Terra's profile, you'll know that I personally believe that Firion bears an uncanny resemblance to Locke -- something I will undoubtedly play with if/when Firion and Terra encounter each other. It doesn't need to happen immediately (I've got a plot idea for Terra to occur down the line that could force a meeting), and these two shouldn't be together needlessly to avoid me role-playing with myself constantly instead of with you guys. With that said, I'm not entirely certain who would be the ideal paring for him -- I believe I could adapt to anyone, but - outside of Kain possibly thinking Firion's personality resembles Cecil's (his resolve, willpower, passion, virtue, et cetera) - there isn't too many options for a foil.
  • Kain: As stated earlier, I think he would probably think Firion bears some resemblance to Cecil, at least in terms of his personality. Besides this, he might have an interesting balance with several characters. His serious and troubled personality could balance well with more than just Firion -- he could actually work well as a foil to Layle's personality from what I could tell (but this is a bad idea since you're both characters) and could also be interesting with Terra due to how timid, gentle, and withdrawn she is; in fact, she might even remind him of Rosa. Whether he works well with Ritz or not sort of depends on how much their serious personalities clash.
  • Terra: I think her personality is in stark contrast with at least the 'tough' part of the personality of Ritz, though not so much the more sensitive half. Nevertheless, there's possibility for them to foil each other, but putting the two females together could make the parties lack gender diversity. I've already stated that I want her to encounter Firion, but it doesn't need to happen right from the beginning. I think I could make Terra interesting regardless of who she ends up pairing with out of this lot, since Terra's personality always worked around a very dynamic party in her own game.
  • Ritz: As I stated earlier, we may or may not want to stick both of the female characters together. Doing so could stifle diversity, but at the same time I'm getting a very 'Tsundere' vibe from how I read her profile and this makes me think she's a noticeable foil to Terra. Otherwise, Ritz might work best with Layle due to him seeming like a bit of a troublemaker from his profile -- this indicates he would be a good foil for her. The latter option might be best to avoid lack of diversity in the genders of the parties.
  • Layle: As suggested above, I think Ritz might be his ideal foil to make things interesting. Otherwise, sticking him with any serious character should balance out his more mischievous personality. The other characters are all serious in one form or another. It might be a good idea to have Ritz and Layle together, then Firion or Terra join them if we have an uneven number of people or choose to do groups of three instead of groups of four.

With these thoughts in mind, I recommend these parties (if we start with five characters -- my thoughts will change if either you, me, or Raddum introduce more heroes before we start or plan to shortly after starting): Firion/Ritz/Layle and Kain/Terra, or Firion/Kain and Terra/Ritz/Layle.

Second Edit: For the sake of moving this forward, I've decided not to go into the rest of Terra's spells, since most of us are being vague anyway with our profiles. For the time being, I also removed the second weapon I had in mind -- I might edit it in eventually.

Well, I was thinking this could just be a reset from a failed cycle. Sometimes, when a character is vanquished, they don't come back in the next cycles. Such as, Prishe.

The heroes from last time failed, but this time a group of mostly different heroes are summoned instead of the ones from last time. As for the groups, interesting analysis. Obviously Raddum still isn't back, so we have to consult with him on this, as well as other things.

On group numbers, I was considering two groups. Doesn't necessarily have to be even, there can be three people and then two people in two separate groups.

My knowledge of Dissidia's lore is - as stated - slightly murky due to having not played the games directly, but with all the information I've spoiled through FFWiki and TVTropes it was an issue I couldn't help but bring up. If what you're suggesting is this doesn't happen after the final cycle, then my suggestion is that we make this a branch of the Dissidia cycles. According to the lore, most of the characters (The Emperor included) were mostly mindless and plain warriors up until Duodecim's cycle, and this is already being contradicted with how we're writing people (not to mention it would be boring). With this in mind, having this plot be a universe that branched off from the rest of the cycles might work best, unless we're going with the idea that the heroes failed during the original Dissidia game's cycle. Since I don't know the specifics of how resets work though, what I'm suggesting might not even be needed.

Nothing else to say regarding the groups, since it makes sense.

Sure, let's just make it an alternate branch where the heroes failed again instead of succeeding in the original game. It makes things simple.

That works. With this in mind, it also (alongside The Emperor's machinations) explains why most of the characters - if not all of them - aren't the same incarnations as Dissidia/Duodecim, or are new characters entirely.

I've decided to bring this up since we haven't gone into it completely yet. Gohan mentioned not wanting to play Cosmos and Chaos at the same time, due to not wanting it to feel like he was 'playing chess against himself' from what I can tell. With this in mind, I suggest Raddum playing Chaos - unless he doesn't want to - because I'm sort of considering The Emperor as a third faction of sorts given how he isn't loyal to Chaos at all and could very realistically become a serious threat to him as the story progresses.

If Raddum doesn't want to play him, I'll take him on - just be warned I might have a difficult time being unbiased with it -- unless you guys don't care about that since Chaos (who is mostly a plot device) is unlikely to be as interesting of a villain as The Emperor will be.
