A research team lands on a planet to determine habitability for future colonists, this being a mostly aquatic planet with small land masses sprinkled about.There would be bases for each of the zones (land, sunlight, twilight, midnight and then one in the abyss before a huge trench). The research teams have been established for 6 months to a year without any issues except for the usual incidents when you've got a bunch of humans on a strange planet. That is until the base in the abyss discovers something one day and suddenly all contact is cut off, a week later, the same thing happens to the midnight base, except a distress call managed to be sent with a message that it was heading for twilight… What was midnight base trying to warn twilight base about?
