The world was shrinking, the blankest edges of the map filled in. Humanity stepped and trod upon all that they saw before them, claiming the land for themselves as they spread out and settled. But as they looked back and saw the destruction laid in their wake, guilt besieged them.
But months later, another undiscovered speck appeared in view. An island off the coast of the mainland, so named "Farpoint." by the royal cartographers. The mainland sent a small expedition to the island, led by one Artemis Dove, a famous explorer. Once they arrived, they found an island thriving with abnormal species, strange places and dangers abounding. The humans were allowed to stay and make shelter as they explored the land, and unlike their previous expeditions, they made no attempt to invade, take over or attack the population.
Instead, they offered only a few things: Government and currency.
The mainland's currency of "Crowns" was introduced to Farpoint to give value toward goods and trading, creating a thriving number of towns. And once every full moon, the leaders of each species, including Artemis for the humans, would gather to discuss events and problems on the island. Human's living on the island was kept under watch and they were never allowed to overpopulate as they had done in the past. And things were peaceful for a long time.
Until one day, unexpectedly, Artemis Dove passed away. The man had two sons, Garrick and Tyria. Garrick left at a young age to be an adventurer like his father whilst Tyria remained to learn the politics of being a ruler. When Artemis passed on, Tyria took over in his seat of power. But come the next full moon, Tyria staged a coup and captured the leaders of each of the races with his human soldiers. He declared absolute rule across the land, now calling himself Lord Titarion.
Five years have passed since Titarion took rule and Farpoint now trembles before him. Calling for human reinforcements from the mainland, they now patrol the land and silence oppression. Titarion also exercises control through his fearsome Generals and a mysterious flying beast known simply as the Herald.
Humans are now heavily despised across Farpoint for Titarion's ways and few of the indigenous races are willing to trust them.
Travel to and from Farpoint has become near nonexistent without heavy regulation and watch from Titarion's men.
But now, for the first time in years, a new ship approaches from the mainland, bearing those that may yet be able to set this land right from the maniacal lord's rule.
