Thanks @Stepford Psycho - and thanks for tidying up it a little with the extra hiders. Looking forward to reading up new stuff and starting to do some ICly things!

I am willing to design custom weapons (AND NON-WEAPONIZED TECH) for nations or characters.
That means you give me a general idea of what you want it to do, and I make it work with science!

For example: The Cartridge Laser Emission Automatic Rifle (CLEAR). Photon crystals (yes, it's a thing, thank Princeton) are stored in isolation chambers (rounds).
Each round can be discharged entirely, or more slowly, depending on rifle settings.
Full discharge is a nearly instantaneous release, too many full discharge shots cause the rifle to overheat (lets say 12 per minute, because they're about equivalent to a JAVELIN RPG in energy release). Rifle cooling systems can theoretically handle 20% of a round per second continuously.

How it acts in use: Full discharge shots cause a streak of plasma to form in the air (if present), which collapses with a loud thunderclap. power drop off is dramatic with normal high release rounds, limiting effective range to just under 100 meters.

-This is just a sample, just msg me or reply if you are interested.

@Cupricality if you're willing to put in the effort could you do a write up of laser granades, standard rail guns, the H+ ion gun and weaponized warp tech?

We've discussed those enough that you should know all the parameters and the sooner that stuff gets posted the better. If not then I'll post it after the herpetology convention this Sunday. I should have enough time by then. Right now I've got finals and a messy greenhouse to deal with.

Also @Darked13 your sheets are accepted, but I have a few questions.

How are the cores made? What are they made of? How quickly can they be created? And how do they communicate with each other?

The cores are made through the synthesis of a copper, Nitrogen, Carbon and Hidrogen compound. The process to obtain such molecules varies depending on the raw materials used. Usually, reagents are reused and waste material is used in the synthesis of other materials when possible. A single core can take from 3 days down to 6 hours to be made, but even the most basic Acruani would need 8 cores to operate. Though, it isn't as if only one can be made at a time, a single factory can make several only limited by energy (which is solar for them) and it isn't as if there is only a single factory. They both emit and absorb a few kinds of waves and particles to communicate. The communication is selectively omnidirectional or directed given enough proximity. Yes, this means that technically an Acruani core decays over time, but given the absorption of radiation and maintenance, the life of a core can be extended indefinitely.

As a note, the cores are usually in something that can be simply considered a black box within the ship (or any given device, though the protection varies) to remain in a radiation free environment to avoid interference. Even then, direct tampering with a core tends to be rather unsuccessful as they do interpret the information obtained, and directly feeding them information does not bypass any protocols.

Not to nitpick, but how exactly are you going to write a hive mind as a NOT omnipresent character?

Simply! :D

On a more serious note, the Database itself isn't really a character. Other than itself which supposedly gets access to all of the information of the Acruani, and will only be there as a plot device more than anything. Any given Acruani only gets information form the Acruani directly under them. While 'the Acruani' may seem omniscient, any whole only knows what individual Acruani under it can sense. They currently lack means for massive communication between systems, so this is also a limitation. Any invidual Acruani, however, is limited to the information that gets to them, a lowe Acruani is literally just a piece in a greater machine that is probably reliant on the information given by another Acruani.

Using the narrator I applied as an example, if it is in its most aware form and not delegating any other Acruani to do anything at all, it has to pay attention to every little bit of chatter and detail that it can find through the system. Something it won't do because it is more efficient to it to have an Acruani focused on the matter.

In practice, this means that he could be aware as much as a lot of sensors he has access to can be, but he opts to focus on a smaller number of them and waits for information from others to be relayed.

On a side note: I didn't call them a hive mind, just a series of interconnected AIs! The Database though, that thing is a Hive-mind, literally the soul of the Acruani, but as it is reduced to little more than well, a Database that accepts input from the Acruani then proceeds to give out appropriate directions, that are basically relaying they most effective or mostly seen input (democracy, *gasps*).

Lastly, if this still doesn't explain how I will write an Acruani, then! I will have to ask 'what is so hard about doing that?' So I know exactly what is the problem. If that explanation doesn't help, I'll write examples! If they don't help! I will be out of ideas and wondering what I'm interpreting wrongly. Hope that this helps though. :3

Ok, I just wanted to make sure you weren't building yourself into a corner, cause I've seen roleplays where a character is so... spread out? Anyways, so spread out that the writer gets bored with writing a character that has a hard time interacting normally.

To clarify, that is not what I was expecting from your character.
I just wanted to make sure that you didn't make a character that wasn't interesting to write as. I'll have to tell you the story of the guy I'm talking about some time, it's actually pretty funny.

Now you've made me curious! Gotta tell me. >~< And thanks for worrying, I can imagine how some people would feel bored this way.

Well, made my first IC post - this is my first time doing a Nation Roleplay, so I hope I've not messed things up too much. If there's anything I can change for next time that'd make it fit a little better with how folks do things in NRPs (I think that's what the cool kids call it), let me know!

Well done!
But as always I have constructive criticism. Maybe you could do something like mention the color or side difference in the birds every now and then, just to remind us of what the characters look like. Not any fault of yours, were just forgetful is all, especially at the beginning of a roleplay.

Well done on the expositional, but not overly so, intro post!

EDIT: @Stepford Psycho
Could you do a short plug about a GFUN ship heading to STC, from the third converted planet/decommissioned base.

That's a good point; I'll try to be a little clearer with each post about the differences between the species for folks reading it. It's ever so easy to forget sometimes that things which are very clear in your own mind (especially after you spend a while thinking about the species, and writing them up) aren't necessarily so clear for others. I'll aim to go a little heavier on the descriptions for the time being!

Thanks for the feedback!

Would anyone be interested in having a ship from their nation(s) stumbling upon one of my systems (preferably the ones where they aren't all rampantly extracting resources)? My race is a bit reclusive and out of galactic matters, so it would be easier for me if I got someone to introduce them to modern society. (Hopefully not a technophic, anti-AI, highly militarisc race - yes, all of those together - that would leave a bad impression which would probably make them a tiny bit too antagonistic towards organics for a while.)

I'll gladly volunteer, but (there's always a but) the Greater Orpil Flock aren't exactly the most in-touch with galactic matters, but are in the process of trying to join GFUN. What I can offer you though is zero technophobia, slight befuddlement regarding actual honest-to-goodness artificial intelligence, a fairly pacifistic worldview, needless bureaucracy and tea parties.

That would be all perfect! This week is being a bit chaotic to me, but I can make a post for them by Friday!! (And the Acruani would be boggled at the concept of a tea party.)

Sounds goood to me - gives me plenty of time to think about how "First Contact" situations would be handled by the GOF and all kinds of other neat things.

@Stepford Psycho Are there any particular rules for creating solar systems? For instance, could I have a binary star system, can I use any type of star, can there be a black hole at the center of my system, etc.?
