In the summer of 1990 Will Navidson, a photojournalist, and his family moved to a new house in south-west Virginia. After returning from a wedding they discovered unsettling occurrences had transpired: the outside of their house was smaller than the inside. Soon, empty black corridors started appearing in the house's walls and after only a month or two, an entirely pitch black labyrinth remained behind a lonesome cupboard door, stretching for miles into the darkness.

Navidson planned an expedition into the maze. Along with a small number of trustworthy friends armed with camping supplies to last them a week and numerous recording devices, they ventured deep into the heart of the phenomenon. The madness and horror that followed was documented and released under the name of The Navidson Record.


Twenty-five years after The Navidson Record, a group of Swedish graduates rent an apartment together in Gävle, Sweden. None of the graduates know anything about The Navidson Record, but after not even a month of living in the flat, it starts to feel a little too spacious...


The events that happened to Navidson and his family will happen to this group of swedes, and they decide to document it. This is the story of their own Navidson Record. What happens after the event described in Our Story is totally in the control of the participants, however.

Rules

• No-one has to be able to speak Swedish. This will all be in English (unless the occasional Swedish would make things interesting!).
• This is a realistic RP. Characters are normal people. This means no superpowers, anime, furries, vampires, werewolves, etc... The fantasy is entirely in the house's mystery. I can elaborate on what this means if you are still unsure.
• I don't expect strict adherence to the rules of casual RP - sometimes less is more and the RP simply doesn't require a long post, and sometimes you wish to express so much through your post that you have to write a page's worth! However, you are strongly encouraged to write with thought, and refrain from being lazy. People have amazingly detailed thoughts, actions, emotions - settings, even as bland as the inside of the house, can be described in an infinite number of ways.

@Buglet I'm interested, however I do have a question. You said the The Navidson Record was documented and released, does that mean the original family got out? If that's the case, where are they now physically and mentally. If it is not, how did their findings get released.

If it was documented, wouldn't there have been a media outbreak about it? How was it hushed up if it was and if it wasn't exactly how would a few young people in Sweden not know about it?

As for the state of Navidson's family, and those who helped him explore, there isn't much left. Some are dead, the rest were driven insane. Navidson remained sane enough to release his compiled works as "The Navidson Record".

Through unknown means, a solitary man named Zampano came to posses The Navidson Record. He kept it very secret and ultimately was driven insane by just watching and studying it, hence why there is no media coverage. it also seems near impossible to find any history of the house too.

This seems really cool. Count me in.

@Buglet Is this going to be a fast-paced RP where posts are needed ASAP? I'd love to join in but if it's that kinda RP where things are needed immediately, I'd stick with just reading it (seriously, just reading the summary and what happened to the tapes gave me chills). This year's December is pretty random, lol, RL keeps popping up.
