Just started playing that newfangled 'Fallout 4' game, all the kids have been raving about.

It's okay, definitely an improvement over 3, but I'm not a fan of the form dialogue is forced into whatsoever

Or the lack of skills and then level capping the corresponding perks

@Monochromatic Rainbowi also hate the fact that the only characters you can play is "altruist" or "sarcastic altruist" and then "kinda curmudgeonly altruist."

The whole voiced player character thing kind of took me out of it too. What if I don't want to sound like Jerry from Rick and Morty? What if I want my player character to sound like a gruff merc?

I also found its replayability not really that good. It feels too grinds once the novelty of "yay new fallout game" wears off.

Don't get me wrong, folks, its not without its flaws. Just didn't think it was as bad as the internet had lead me to believe.

(at least its not Tactics)

I play it with the FROST mod personally - open world Metro is fun, railroaded good guy-ness with a forced backstory and whatever that isn't even good? No thanks.

@Kingfisherlol no, I get you. I did play it to completion, so I enjoyed what time I had with it. I did like playing the Railroad faction, if only because I like the whole shadowy world of spies and whatnot.

I feel that. I wanted to be the Cannibal Raider Queen of the Commonwealth. Its a real shame, cause there's the odd sarcastic line that captivated what I wanted to go for with my character as a whole, but they were few and far between.

You enjoyed the god awful, barely making an effort shooting mechanics, the poorly executed dialog system that doesn't indicate what you'll say and has a limit of four options because that's how many buttons are on a controller, the non-perk system that doesn't allow you to do cool things like say something so intimidating everyone in the room panics, the limited playthrough options due to the perk downgrade, the tacked on and unnecessary tamagotchi-like settlement system, the predictable plot twist involving the main characters child (wow, I passed out in a cryo chamber I wonder if he'll come back at some point but older cause I don't know how long I was out), the same enemies from fallout 3 with the addition of two mutants you'll never see until the day you die and synths which are humans with removeable limbs, a plot hook that's basically Bladerunner so if you've seen that movie then nothing in the games theme is going to surprise you or make you think?

It's cool if you've never played Stalker: Call of Pripyat which is basically Fallout 4: Better Edition. If I want a pseudo-rpg with shooting elements but a tacked on story, at least make it a great shooter pseudo-rpg with tacked on story.

I don't think I could have put it more succinctly myself.

As I've said I quite enjoy it with the FROST mod which puts it in the same realm as metro or stalker - but I like being able to play a lady and not a dude, Soooooooooooo

But yeah no the dialogue system is unforgiveable, as is, well - turning it into a mediocre FPS with a dried husk of what might be called role playing on top

I too enjoyed the game first play through, maybe about half way into the second play when I realised just how liniar and limited it all is.

But first time yeah.

Will have to try with that and other mods.

So far new vegas with all DLC and mods owns my heart.

New Vegas is my all time favourite, closely followed by 2.
