The Crystal, a creation made by the Gods. The Crystal is the reason the world known as Gaea exists, a world filled with light and darkness. But the Crystal was the guardian of light that protected Gaea from the darkness within. It was a peaceful world, filled with green trees and grass, pure water, and beautiful clouds.
At least it was.
-The Crystal War-
50 years ago, the Crystal War had begun. The Crystal War was a war of all nations, for the Gods' creation. The army of the Pheonix Republic had sought out to steal the Crystal from the center of Gaea, yet the Kingdom of Azrael were the protectors of the Crystal to make sure nothing like this would ever happen.
An thus, the first day of the Crystal War had started. The Pheonix army sneak attacked the Azrael Kingdom. The rest of the world learned of this news, and either joined the Pheonix in fear of them becoming all powerful with the Crystal and thought this would keep them safe in the world, or joined the Azrael in order to protect the Crystal from being used for evil reasons.
The second day was full out warfare across the land, two sides battling on another. Villages burned, families killed, all for greed and power. The some empires started to develop more weapons out of their advanced technology, gaining an advantage in the war. Others were not so lucky.
The third day, the Pheonix had started developing a weapon of mass destruction from Gaea's inner energy. They had unknowingly created a nuke that would effect the whole world in only 48 hours.
The fourth day, the war was getting more intense. Nations were starting to be bombed and full destroyed by other nations. The fifth day, was when the Pheonix decided to drop the bomb on at the Crystal's area, where their enemy was guarding it. The effects of the bombing was something they never expected...
It worked, but a few days had passed and snow had started falling even though it wasn't Winter. Then blizzards, then snowstorms occasionally, then they started happening every day across Gaea. The world of Gaea turned into a full on ice planet, a nuclear winter across the whole world.
The Crystal had disappeared, people believed it was somehow destroyed because of Pheonix's bombing. The darkness that was once held back by the Crystal's barrier had come out, and the monsters had started attacking as well.
The whole world, had become a wasteland.
-The After Years-
The remaining life that did survive the bombings, adapted to the never stopping Winter, and learned how to fight for themselves started to rebuild the world. There was no way to go back to peace though.
The darkness had consumed the world, with barely any light to fight back without the Crystal. Some brave or stupid attempt to fight back the darkness, but end up dead, or turned into darkness themselves. People have searched for the Crystal, looking for help. Looking for hope to stop what was happening.
And soon enough, the Crystal was alive still, frozen in ice, but still with a warm bright glow. Most people believed this as a rumor, something to make them feel hopefully. Little did they know, it was very. Very real, and the New Order knew so.
The New Order, an new army, have looked for the Crystal as well. They say they would use it for the right causes, but they want to Crystal for it's power like the Pheonix Republic once did. With the surviving governemts and armies weakened badly, if the New Order found the Crystal, they would be able to take complete control of Gaea.
The New Order is one of the strongest armies to exist, filled with people who have their heart in the right place, but their leader with evil thoughts.
Would the Crystal ever return? Would Gaea ever return to peace again? No one knows, but one can only hope.
-Now-
"You can hear me, I know you can.." A young girl's voice echoed in your mind. "You have to save it." To save what, is the first you thought. Was this just a dream, or were you hallucinating from the cold. Were you dying from hypothermia?
"The Crystal's alive, you have to save it from them, the evil ones." You were starting to become more confused, but the girl was weeping and her voice was in the form of a plea. Maybe this was your mind making up something, but what if the Crystal was actually out there?
"They are looking for it, you must find it first." She clasped her hands together. Her hair was a dark brown color, but her eyes were unnaturally a bright electric glowing blue. She looked innocent, as she wore a white dress with no sleeves. Everything around her was just a dark color, but there was an blue glowing aura around her. Giving off light.
"I'm running out of time, please... hurry!"
And suddenly you woke up, sweating. Back to reality.
I hope you guys are interested in this story idea. Since Final Fantasy is an big anthology of games, I decided to make an RP out of it with an original idea of mine that I'm pretty sure that hasn't been used in one of these types of FF Rps. This roleplay is based off Fabula Nova Crystallis Final Fantasy, which is a mini-series of Final Fantasy games that involve some sort of Crystal in them.
Fun fact: Fabula Nova Crystallis is Latin, but it translates in English to 'The New Tale of the Crystal'. I'm currently trying to work on a RPG EXP and battle system for it. As you can't really do Final Fantasy without something like that, unless you guys would just rather go on a regular roleplay type.
I'm looking for people to post at least once a week, but if you can't that's understandable. Contact me before that and if you know so, and try to come up with an idea why your character would be inactive for the time you wouldn't be there. And if you don't want to be in the roleplay, just say so. Y'know?
RULES:
1): Always have fun, no fighting or arguments in the OOC. If you have a problem with another player, take it up with me or them or both of us in PMs.
2): GMs and Co-GMs' word is law (but don't think you can't correct us if we're wrong, please.)
3): Even though this is an Advanced roleplay, I only care about quality not quantity. Your posts do have to be at least 2 paragraphs though.
4): No insta-killing, godmodding, or controlling another character for your benefit and without the character's player consent.
5): Romance is allowed, but keep it PG-13. Since when have you ever seen a sex scene in a Final Fantasy game? If you do want to go over PG-13, bring it to the PMs, please.
The Classes list is filled with all the starter classes and advanced classes that you will progress to once you level up every 15 levels. The weapons you start off with in the beginning will obviously be weak, but you will progress to buy or find other weapons and armor to the point where you're strong enough to take on strong foes and bosses. You start off as the first regular classes.
Different classes have different limit breaks, which are moves that do a lot of damage. The Limit gauge starts to fill up when a character takes damage, it's more of a last stand move for when someone is in deep trouble but their Limit break is ready.
((A list of classes, created by the lovely @FantasyChic. If it's okay if I use 'em. I also added a little more stuff to it as well.))
Warrior:
Your basic fighting class. They can wield a variety of single-handed weapons or two-handed weapons including swords, axes, and hammers. They are the damage dealers of the group and every group needs one. Warrior class characters start off with a 'old blade'. The old blade can deal out only somewhat nice damage, and is the weakest weapon for the Warrior class. Their starter limit break is 'Hack and Slash', the name states the obvious, and deals a heavy amount of damage to enemy.
*Knight: The Noble fighters that rely on heavy defense as well as high attack. They can bolster their allies with buffs and can take damage. They primarily deal with one-handed weapons and a shield.
*Dark Knight: The Not-So-Noble fighters that rely on heavy damage. They sacrifice their own health in order to ensure they deal high amounts of damage. They primarily deal with two-handed weapons.
*Onion Knight(?): Though they have no abilities on their own, they can equip unique equipment that grants them the special abilities of different classes. This is the final advanced class of a Warrior. They can also pierce through armor more easily than a Dark Knight, Knight, or Warrior.

Lancer:
The spear-wielding fighter is able to hold the line in defense. They can pierce their targets with their spears and tower shields help defend against melee attacks and ranged attacks. The weakest and first weapon a Lancer can use is the 'wooden spear', which can penetrate through armor and has more of a critical hit chance the Warrior class.
*Dragoon: The dragon armor wearing fighter is known for their unique Jump ability, as well as being able to take down a dragon. They primarily use spears and polearms, but may also wield a sword.
*Paladin: Heavy armor wearing lancers that can also use some basic White Magic to help their allies. They typically use long swords or spears as their weapon and are good at defending. This is the final advanced class of a Lancer.

Thief:
Rogue type, starts with the 'Steal' ability which can steal items, and gil, and rarely a new weapon for themselves or a different class character, from enemies. Can dual-wield weapons or go single-handed and can even use a bow or crossbow if they choose. Their first weapon is the 'crooked dagger', which is sharp enough to cause an bleeding effect to an enemy, making an enemy bleed to death slowly unless the Thief finishes them off, but the catch is that the bleeding effect is very, very slow to kill off an enemy.
*Ninja: Good at stealth and getting the upper hand on their enemies. They prefer single-handed weapons that are light, but can also dual-wield and are good at remaining unseen and doing extra stealth damage.
*Assassin: Good at taking down single enemies. They prefer dual-wielding and are good acrobatics and are able to get around tight obstacles. This is the final advanced class of the Thief.

They do not have a meelee weapon, and can be picked off quite easily if they take too much damage. Their first weapon is the 'broken bow'.
*Hunter: Good at trap making and using, prefers a bow, and can use the environment to their advantage (though they like the forest the best). They are especially well-versed in monster knowledge.
*Beastmaster: Good at controlling monsters and can have a wide array of companions with them. They prefer crossbows and are able to call and calm a variety of monsters.

*Monk: Trained in the art of the fist, these fighters use their chi to bolster themselves when fighting. They are often calm in tense situations and can pack a big punch.
*Black Belt: These fighters focus on dealing damage and have been trained to withstand much. Unlike the Monks, they don't use their chi, instead they focus on the fight.

They typically wield staves. Their first weapon is the 'worn out stave', and they drain their enemies' health and use it to restore the party's health, but can only do it once every battle, so it must be used wisely.
*Priest: Priests are the healer class that focus primarily on healing. They have powerful healing magics. They can pack a small punch in a fight, but prefer to stay in the back and heal.
*Oracle: These mages have small amounts of white healing magic, but prefer to put status ailments on enemies and help their allies with buffs.

Moogle:
The loveable puff balls in every Final Fantasy game. They are useful for selling and buying gear and can hold any basic job. They can be alchemists, farmers, merchants, etc.
Gil is the currency used throughout the Final Fantasy series, even though gil has looked different many times through out the games, it typically looks like an gold coin with a Chocobo on it. You can use gil to buy potions, items, weapons, and magic shards.
For example: You can buy 2 steel swords for 1,500 gil.
You can also earn gil from defeating enemies, or having the Thief steal gil from enemies. You can also earn gil from doing little side quests for characters that need your help, (or are too lazy to do it themselves usually.)
The twist for this though, is that there are different types of Gil in this roleplay. The four types of gil are bronze gil, silver gil, golden gil, and ruby gil.
Bronze gil can usually be found easily from loot, normal treasure boxes, side quests an missions. You earn silver gil from fighting or stealing it from enemies, the same as golden gil, only that you fight tougher enemies or bosses for golden gil.
Ruby gil, is a rare type of gil to have. There are ways to get ruby gil, but they can be difficult, as you usually get them from dungeons, rare golden treasure chests, and Dark Titans, a type of enemy you'll meet through out the wastelands of Gaea. You can also find other things from teasure chests like elixr, ether, hi-potions, pheonix downs, etc.
The rarer the gil, the higher quality the things you can buy with it. You can substitute bronze gil for silver gil though, but think of it this way: 10 silver gil = 100 bronze gil. So you would need a lot of bronze gil to buy something that's 150 silver gil or higher.
EXP, or experience points, are points you gain from completing side quests, main quests, beating dungeons, and fighting enemies. EXP helps you level up to a newer level, as well, which would raise your HP (Health Points) and MP (Mana Points) up higher, and your skills would level up as well.
The party will start off at Lvl. 1, typically. The more you level up, the longer it will take you to rise to the next level. For example:
To become Lvl. 2, you must have 365 EXP. And to become Lvl. 3, you must have 498 EXP.
The larger, or tougher the threat to the party is, the more EXP you would gain from the fight. Like from an boss battle or a mini-boss in a dungeon.
Health Points and Mana Points are crucial to surviving out in the winter wastelands. Health Points is obviously your health, which will get drained if you are attacked by an enemy. The higher an level the enemy is, the more damage it can do to you and vice versa.
When your HP reaches zero, you will be in [DANGER], where your character is too weak to attack. They can still be healed without an Pheonix Down at this point, but their Danger health bar slowly reaches zero even if they are not being attacked, if they are attacked, the faster the Danger bar goes down until you're dead. You are revived automatically after an battle, or can be revived in-battle with a Pheonix Down. But if you're whole party is down, game over, and you will instantly leave the battle with some of your items stolen and your health low. So be careful.
Your Mana Points are the points that fill up your magic gauge. Magical characters have more room for mana points than regular, if you cast an spell it will use up some of your mana points. If you use all your mana points, you are unable to cast any more magic as your MP slowly fills back up.
