Okay first and foremost I have several ideas I want to bounce off at people and see if anything catches anyone's eyes. A few things aren't very fleshed out at this time but its two am as I'm hitting post and I started typing this just before Midnight.
Party Size: I'm not exactly picky about the number of people but if it gets past 9 (plus me) it might get too big for me to handle.
Super Mario Bros. Setting: Mushroom Kingdom / Dark Land Kingdom Canon Characters: Yes. OC Characters: Yes. Races Unavailable: Star Spirits and similar divine entities, also any animal-like mentality species (ex: Rex and Chain Chomp).
There would be no real plot here, just people doing whatever as one or two characters per person. This is the least structured RP I’m suggesting but has the potential to be the most fun and silly.
The only real rule I have here is if someone is that the events of games such as Super Mario Bros 2 are dreams, the Paper Mario and Yoshi Island series are storybooks (but some elements do exist… just were not really encountered by the Mario Bros), and while there are more Humans they are rare. Also: no one can be an OC that is related to a canon character.
The Legend of Zelda Setting: Hyrule (Ocarina of Time - Death of the Hero alternate timeline) Canon Characters: None available save Link, Zelda, and maybe Impa. OC Characters: Yes, but no Ganondorf Reborn or Divine Hero archetypes. Races Unavailable: Zora, Gerudo, Kokiri, Monsters.
An offshoot timeline of Ocarina of Time. Past the vast Gerudo desert lies another kingdom. Hearing word through traders and merchants of the foreign blessed land having been conquered by an evil warlock, the king and queen choose to send scouts to Hyrule for confirmation and preparation. The Kingdom of Hyrule is soon beset and unable to fight off the invaders. A new Link is born a few decades down the line to a land forced to pay tribute to their foreign masters. Precious metals and good iron are scarce as the Gorons refuse admittance to anyone not of rocky countenance. The Zora have fled to distant shores rather than stay after their princess was nearly taken captive by a foreign soldier smitten with her fey form; their lake now is host to the violent and feral Zola (River Zora). The Kokiri are hidden well by the Lost Woods. The forest has spread into the grasslands and the wild creatures make the roads more treacherous for anyone not trained by the former Royal Guard or the foreign soldiers. The Gerudo are gone since they took one look at the marching army and decided to take their chances elsewhere. In spite of their absence the Hylians and Hyrulians blame the Gerudo for not stopping the army… which is at odds with their other grievances against them regarding Ganondorf Dragmire.
The RP would thus have Link focusing on trying to save Hyrule from their new overlords and try to reunite the races of Hyrule but for those who'd rather try RPing outside of Link's journey could decide to something else such as joining the invaders or survive in spite of them.
Kingdom Hearts Setting: Alternate Timeline - Xehanort not as big of a prick as in the game (thus no time-travel bs). Canon Characters: None available. Option to take Disney characters or Square-Enix/Square/Enix characters may be open depending on interest. OC Characters: If you choose to make an OC they cannot be a Keyblade Master, intelligent Heartless, or a Nobody. Organization XIII does not exist here I cannot stress this enough.
Master Xehanort never split Ventus apart since while he still desired the Chiblade the Keyblade Master could not bring himself to harm and potentially kill someone for the sake of satisfying his intellectual curiosity. Instead Ventus was trained to be his successor so that if he himself couldn’t see the end result someone he knew and trusted could (plus in theory if someone had the power of Kingdom Hearts the could call out to a familiar Heart and force it to gain a body once more). Ventus gained a few personality traits similar to Vanitas but there is no flood of Unversed ravaging the worlds. The Clash of Light and Dark instead would be Ventus (or his successor) against one of Eraqus’s students. This means there would be less worldly destruction and more Keyblade Masters running around. This also means that there won’t be Organization XIII or Xehanort traipsing through Time and Space. This also means that Sora won’t be the unchosen Chosen One, Kairi won’t grow up on Destiny Island, and Riku may not be chosen as Terra’s successor. There still could be an invasion of Heartless throughout the Worlds as there still are would-be warlocks and mad scientists but in turn they could be countered by Ansem the Wise and his faithful apprentices and guards. Well, most of them are faithful. Some (and by some I mean Braig) would likely sell/steal things to trade with other people. A possible cause of the Heartless breaking into the Realm of Light would be Professor Hojo thanks to Makonoids and the exposed Heart of the World (Lifestream).
There would be the presence of other worlds and perhaps ‘cameos’ from other Square and Enix games such as Brain Lord and more likely Live A Live.
Digimon Setting 1: Original Setting, Humans as Myth. Setting 2: "MMORPG Server" World (AKA: humans all think its a game like the "Digimon Emperor" Ken Ichijouji did) Canon Characters: Nope. You can pick a Mon species but no canon Human characters. OC Characters: Humans OCs only. Technically speaking the Digimon characters would be OCs too but in terms of powers and forms they have to be canon. Races Unavailable: Lucemon. Zeed-Millenniummon and its immediately related digivolutions. Chimeramon. Guilmon. Starting as anything past Adult-level Digimon. Probably others but those are the key ones.
The idea here would revolve around Digimon-run city-states. In general they tend to group and ally themselves by Type and Family so you have the Vaccines and Holy cities joining up due to mutual interests but sometimes the Vaccines might have a key member who sets the Holy city allies (who tend to be Virus Busters) on edge such as Agnimon (who might be a Vaccine in some sources but is always a Demon Man and one of his possible fields is Nightmare Soldier).
The exact plot will need refinement but considering how the anime tends to play the Digital World’s time as sped up and hints that centuries if not millennia took place after the first Human-Digimon interaction, I can’t help but wonder what might go on during the gulf of time that Humans aren’t around to help solve their problems and cause new ones.
Copy/pasting this idea from another site I go to. I had this idea a while back and its too fun not to offer to play with.
Yuurei was excited. The new expansion for Monster Brawler was coming out! The company Lucigami was tight-lipped over the storyline but the teasers for the location were amazing. A new zone will be made available, this time it will be a Jurassic Kaiju jungle full of dinosaurs and titanic beasts! There has been more than a few naysayers as many players didn't care for the previous release of a Halloween-themed zone with a Dracula storyline and cheesy haunted mansions. Monsters such as Pico Devimon were rather pathetic but it was worth it if you wanted a Wizarmon.
His own lineup was decidedly Dark-heavy. Honestly? Many players favored that Field. The Wood types were... well, trees and walking flowers and that one Fairy line. The Bug designs are cool but not very powerful. Another fan-favorite are the Metal types. Aerial and aquatic Monsters vary in popularity but no one can deny that the rare Dragons are amazing. One of the rarest types, Holy, swings between too cheesy for him to stomach or amazing. It does not matter much since they aren't available for player teams yet. Just in arena battles. There is some interest but Yuurei supposes the company is having difficulty in coming up with unique designs or something.
It's been a while but the one constant on his Team is his wonderful Tsukaimon. Or rather Ice Devimon. The company can be forgiven for some of the dumber reskin jobs since the movesets and stats are sufficiently different. Such as how there's an entire branch of Bakemon who's key visual difference is wearing an oversized witch's hat.
This is why no one likes the Bakemon. Soulmon. Whatever.
It's still a wonderful game. But...
About a week ago Yuurei saw some sort of glitch or something. He screenshot it but the guys on the game's forum all claimed it was fake or edited. One of the wild Monsters during a standard 'beat x and harvest y item' quest, instead of shouting the usual roars or 'Die [Player's Monster]' had instead asked why he was doing this. It couldn't be part of the quest, there had been dozens just like it before and more if you include the Dailies. But before he could figure out what was going on, Ice Devimon attacked on his own to kill the Gabumon.
He didn't know what to think. Did he trigger some sort of easter egg? Was it a hint for the upcoming expansion? Is it a flag for a hidden quest? A left-over from some unfinished code? Ice Devimon hasn't done anything unusual since...
Yuurei supposes he'll find out sooner or later.

In Adventure 02 we had a guy thinking Digimon was just a video game and (because reasons) acted like a general prick to everything. We have several MMOs and a lot of RPGs where part of the point of the game is to murder everything in sight to evolve your Mons. A fair number of people really really REALLY like the Dark types because they're cool looking (Dragons too, and Mechs...). It's probably been done before to death but here is a bit of a prologue. Oh and I vaguely remember a manga having a Digimon VR multiplayer arcade game that was kind of a shadow world between the Real World and the Digital World? I'm not sure if they were real Digimon or if they were just simulacrum Digimon.
@Raddum I've been... uh... not exactly great but not absolutely terrible. I posted in the b!tch thread about stuff so I don't want to repeat myself or complain in an unrelated thread but in short I've been a neurotic mess who kept away because I freaked out over not logging on in a while and then that kept me away because and cue endless loop. Has things been fine with you?
Beanish is possible but you can't be related to the Royal Family. Also the events will start off in the Mushroom Kingdom or Dark Land so you'd need a reason (even if just tourism) to be all the way over there as a Beanish.
As for Kingdom Hearts and Digimon being overdone... I guess so? But the Kingdom Hearts threads I saw were mostly Xehanort Saga stuff and I'm curious about seeing if anyone else is interested in a sort of DigiMMOn world where humans think Digimon are just pieces of data on a screen.
I'd be interested in any of them, but you might be putting too many restrictions on the KH one and digimon one. I'm sure without whats his face or the 3 ones from birth by sleep and a totally original story you can lighten up on that one, since everyone does those stories to death.
Oh, I've been in the good 'ol "Fall out of contact with everyone online for 2 months and come back to a shitty aftermath" phase for awhile now. When life kicks you in the balls, you just have to get over it, that's how I see it. Doesn't mean I have to friggin' like it though. I'll hit you up on our old PM chat probably; So we don't end up flooding a thread in conversation... Again. >_>
She's not a part of the Royal Family to begin with so I guess I'm good as far as that is concerned. She's a travelling fighter; A character I've already had established for awhile, actually. She left the BeanBean Kingdom due to all the crazy things that are supposedly at the Mushroom Kingdom. Plenty of challenge, in her eyes. Between all the different creatures and famous people. Her first goal when coming to the Mushroom Kingdom was to fight a ChainChomp.
mistakes were made.
Eh. I guess they could be interesting, they're just not my cup of tea; I've been disappointed by both fandoms on this forum before, so I'm just kind of "meh" about it. If people want it, good on ya, though. I'll probably not join you guys, however. :P
@Archmage MC Thanks for showing interest! Anything specific catching your eye? The restrictions on Digimon aren't that steep. It's basically just "No OP starting picks". The Millenniummon line are basically gods, Lucemon is easily two ranks ahead in strength at every rank, Cimeramon has to be forced to happen and requires more than two Mons to hybrdize, and Guilmon becomes The Destroyer Of Worlds By Just Existing.
As for Kingdom Hearts... yeah they are steep but I've been burned more than once with that fandom. However Intelligent Heartless are so rare that we only have two real examples, both of which being caused by weird and highly unusual circumstances. Nobodies... as much as I love the series Organization XIII always rubbed me wrong. And I said Keyblade Masters but then again I encountered almost as many terrible OC Keyblade wielders when I tried to RP Kingdom Hearts.
@Raddum A Beanish Adventurer sort of character? Yeah that would definitely work out. The Mushroom Kingdom tends to get new problems and old arcane evils cropping up every time we friggin blink, to say nothing of time travel shenanigans or dimensional stuff. How'd she fail hard at fighting a Chain Chomp? Did she get in the way of its teeth?
And I understand. If one of those two gets picked for a thread. There's always other rps to get into and why force yourself to join something you might not like?
Well, let's just say punching a big ball-and-chain monster doesn't do any favors for your fist. She learned the hard way she's going to need more utility that just going hand-to-hand with everything. Something she'll end up getting over time.
Well, I appreciate the understanding. I might stick around for the Zelda one, depending on if Deku's are considered 'Monsters' in your eyes.
@Raddum Why would you even punch a Chomp? It'd be like suckerpunching a Thwomp. Or a Whomp. Or any other rock. Then there's Bullies which are like mini Chomps with feet and without teeth...
Depends on what kind of Deku you're talking about. Shrubs are not quite Monsters (they can be but they're not unintelligent and can engage in civilized trade if nothing else). Babas are Monsters since all they do is lash out and bite.
We all make mistakes. Sometimes travelling Beanish martial artists just make bigger ones.
Well, the former. He'd mainly resemble Majora's Mask Deku's appearance-wise. Specifically the more unique ones of Deku Palace; Though without any relation as to avoid any conflict with you, lol.
@Raddum I think you mean "sometimes newbies just make bigger ones". As for MM Deku looks, I figure that they could afford the time and energy to do their 'hair' up in more elaborate styles. It could be a geographical aspect (Terminan Swamp vs Hyrulian Forest) but it could also be that we see outcasts and assholes more than any normal member of Deku society. Also see Lake Zora (Ocarina of Time) vs River Zora (any aggressive Zora that shoots lasers from the water).
Well, considering most of said outcasts and assholes are in caves and shite, I'd be lying if I said I didn't agree with you. Deku's can obviously be civil when they want; Sometimes they just decide to be douchebags and pelt you with nuts. Thankfully my character is not one of said douchebags, he's actually pretty cowardly.
EDIT
Thank god deku's can't fire off laser beams at will.
I don't know much about digimon past season 1 so that stuff just sounds like the writers were bad at their job and couldn't make a decent story without having 'end all to be all' be the next arc or whatever.
What intelligent heartless were there? Main baddie from KH1, who else? And why? I always wondered why they couldn't have higher brain functions anyway.
I'm cool with KH or Mario. I'll be playing s character thats kinda like a cartoon in both. xD
@Raddum The funny thing about the caves is that these are plant people. You'd think they'd be in forests more often but nope, underground or in grasslands! A lot of said jerks are also cowardly (see: diving back into their planthousething). River Zora are one of my most hated enemy types. Bubbles/Anti-Fairies are another. Screw both those guys!
@Archmage MC This wouldn't be a derivative of the anime or any specific game. Almost every game, anime, and manga is set in the general Digimon multiverse rather than a single world so you can get away with more stuff in regards to the exact setting. There are universal constants but events differ.
Sora. Also KH1. And depending on how you view Anti-Form it also is a thing in KH2. And technically the events of Chain of Memories and most of KH2 since he doesn't have Roxas back inside him until near the end of KH2.
There are a lot of types of cartoons. Do you mean silly or cartoon-physics? Or something else?
Probably cartoonish physics. Lots of slapstick stuff like loony toons stuff. Though others tend to not like that as the regen seems to be more than most people can handle XD. but in a world with 1ups being candy, well...

Well, looking at this from an Arena standpoint, Toonforce is the most bullshit thing to deal with ever; I'd rather attempt to flush my desktop than deal with that shit.
From something not PvP based, it shouldn't matter as long as it isn't used to make every situation completely moot. Most people will probably avoid dealing with you though, to the point of ignoring your posts if the character tries to pick a fight with them. Because toons are Waaaayyyy too stressful.

Considering the character is a pacifist thats not a problem.
Though the powerset is more like Deadpools, but with a few extras that give it more weaknesses.

Ah, okay. Deadpool's reasonable; I'm alright with this.
Also three cheers for pacifism; Fun characters to play, in my opinion. Though I do like punching things. Thankfully the Mushroom Kingdom is full of things. For punching.
@Raddum@Archmage MC On the topic of cartoon physics keep in mind that this applies to everyone in the Mario-verse but mostly seems to touch on "Rule of Funny" tropes (while Kingdom Hearts seems to restrict it to Black-and-White Era Disney characters). Think of the scene from the Who Framed Roger Rabbit movie where the bunny could only slip his hand out the handcuff when it was (from a bystander or troll's perspective) of being funny when he helped hold the table in place.
Then there's weird stuff like air/food/water ballooning up someone and hammers harmlessly burying a person in the ground to pull a Bugs Bunny style underground travel trick or to flatten them like a crushed can that somehow can still move in spite of being squeezed tight like a pressured metal spring.
So if the character is more along the lines of a 'comedy sidekick' they may be able to work the physics more often to their advantage/amusement but most might have some passive effects going on.
