Got my claim Worked out! imgur.com/a/LjPrV
Gonna go with a republic of heretics, who turned into slave drivers!

Copied out of Chatzy:
My base idea was that in a dutchy of the Justinians Empire, a small sect began to question the nature of their god-Emperor. Calling themself "The society of doubt" they began to spread their ideas, and slowly build up an Ideology around the idea that Justinian was a man, and that if gods exist, they are little more then tyrants, that have to be fought, rather then worshiped. It took a few years for the sect to be found, but the answer of the Empire was brutal and swift. Putting the whole dutchy to the sword, the surivers felt to Nagath, and swore fealty to the dark lord! This was the beginning of the Brass Republic.
My idea was that they started off as decent people, but then ended up more and more corrupted by the land, turning form a "true" republic, into a decadent society of brutal slavers, holding up their perverted old virtues, and eager to end the tyranny of all gods!

@FlaggCan I ask for a picture or approximation of where your borders will be around the Fen & Broken Coast?

Marches are just a term for the border between Imperium/Nagath. There's some flexibility there if you want to put a faction along those mountains or along the southern unnamed inland sea.

Cool, since I'm planning on putting my kingdom along the northern border of the southern inland sea. And this is the claim at the moment:

Just gotta think of a nice orcish name.

EDIT: Oh, @Flagg should I post a WIP sheet here on in the Character tab?

All right, so I'm thinking of dropping my faction on the northern peninsula by the Cursed Sea, as shown on this map:

They are a nomadic, horse-riding people originally from somewhere north of the Justinian Empire, who recently began migrating south due to longer and harsher winters in the north. They fear the Great Cold, a prophesied eternal winter that will end all life.
I figure they walked across the frozen straits from the north-west during the height of winter and began demanding tribute from or driving out whoever lived there already. Perhaps a mixture of petty kingdoms, city-states, and tribes.

Aside from that, I've got a question pertaining to the map: I'm assuming Nagath is the area east of the Justinian Empire, is that right? You say the world is big, but do you have any rough estimate of how big?

Edit: I guess I should specify that we're human, since there seems to be plenty of people who aren't.

If you want that, sure. I'd like to stay within the Sea of Curses to the north because I like the name and cannot get enough of describing cold-ass waters and how shit it is for the people sailing on it. Not sure if this really is a 60/40 split as you suggest, but I made a cursory edit of the map to put some perspective on our potential region of influence, with friction happening along the shared borders. My region is filled in purple, yours orange.

Okay well I originally wanted to be near the broken coast in bottom left of the map, but I'm happy to put my faction where youve highlighted orange. I'll work on my nation sheet now.

Broken Coast seems petty popular, so I am happy to relocate. Why dont you guys send me your claims and I'll work around what you want to do?

T'was just a suggestion, of course. You can locate yourself wherever you prefer, bearing in mind that naval factions are more fluid in their positioning than land-based ones anyway.

No its fine, I like where you have me located, and its seems the broken coast is wanted by other players so I will claim the north east of the map where youve put me. My faction will be hybrid land and naval, but I assume most of our faction's skirmishes will take place at sea.

@Ashgan Also what is the name of your faction? I saw some refrences to areas in your fluff, but I wasnt sure what to call them by (just for the sake of my CS).

Looking good so far. My faction is always in the market for slaves and is in the business of breeding slave-races, so we should be thick as thieves.

@Flagg Well, the Republic would dislike the whole "Cult of the Worm" thing, but i think they could overlook that and the magic, for some neat trade deals, and permissions to study the ruins!
After all, what are ideals, if you can profit from going against them?

The Regal Flotilla.

By the way, addressed at everyone, does anyone whose faction has at least a modicum of occultists/mysticist/wizards/whatevermancers and who has access to the Sea of Curses have an interest in being part of my background story? I'm piecing it together and have come to the conclusion that I need some delvers of the arcane to have made a journey northwards some 100 years ago, finding the Tiamath and its disturbing cargo - and activating it, thus giving rise to the Pureblood Empress. I could pull some deus ex mage dudes out of my butt, but I think this is a great opportunity to forge some inter-player relations. Got some more specific details for those who are interested.

@Flagg

Hey man, I've been thinking about this and I've decided that this RP isn't for me after all. I'm not trying to diss on all your hard work or anything, I just think that I personally would not be able to pull something like this off. Thank you for your consideration and I wish you luck.

Sorry to hear it- you ever change your mind you're always welcome back.
