The Meyer's are an average modern family ... At least, they were. Mr Meyer, and Mrs Meredith Meyer, had 3 beautiful children, Leith, Taron and Bailey. A nice house, they were considering getting a dog ... but it didn't go quite as planned. Mr Meyer left Meredith and she found herself with three kids making it on her own.

Resilient as ever, she managed to get by. Leith moved out at 18 to flat with friends, and she kept playing the perfect mom role. Meredith's younger sister, May, has moved in, after losing her long-time boyfriend to a sudden illness. May wanted to be close with family, and with Leith gone, there's plenty of space.

Things are about to get a bit overcrowded though, as Leith's flatmates move overseas for a study-abroad year, he has no choice but to move back home because he can't afford to rent on his own, but without a room since May's moved in, he's stuck with his little sister Bailey in her room. Even worse, Leith's considerably younger boyfriend, Ceren, also needs a place to stay ... Meredith's new boyfriend has also moved in and suddenly there's 7 people sharing a 4 bedroom, 1 bathroom house, which comes with its own set of problems.

Even a crowded home can be a functional one, but the Meyer household is really pushing its limits. Merediths new man doesn't approve of Leith and Ceren, Taron and Ceren may be just a little too friendly with one another for the parents' liking, and Bailey keeps getting into trouble at school. Meredith's motivations to stay with this new fella might not be as pure and rose-tinted as she'd have you believe and tensions between the kids and moms boyfriend is sure to cause further strife. May's constant meddling also causes friction.

Can the family hold it together or are they just too close for comfort in the cramped family home?

@The Grey Dust that was a wicked start. I am really torn over Meredith's situation, like Richard's an ass and I wanna scream "LEAVE HIM MERI!" but at the same time, shes doing it for a reason (and she deserves to be spoiled too). If only he was less of an asshole (but hey that means less drama and thats no fun). I'm under the impression she's clever, she's a bit of a game player, he thinks he has full control over her, and to an extent, she has to acquiesce to him, but she's strong enough and clever enough that she can make a stand when she needs to!

She's a really interesting character and Richard is ... well a narcissist through and through but he's taking care of her family for virtually free yknow, he gets what he wants but he does give back to her ... just not in an even-stevens way. I look forward to seeing him dealing with the kids (whether or not that includes Leith and Ceren, I'm sure Bailey has mixed views, though she behaves for her mothers sake).

Yeah she's getting the better end of the stick, for now at least, I'm under the impression that Richard's letting her believe she's got the advantage. To that end, maybe he knows he's getting played, but plays along to see how close he can get before ruining her. Blackmail is not just a form of dark protective armor it's also a... dark Protective armor.

I'm seeing a very awkward dinner. Technically I guess Ceren could show up at the place and dine alone. Or Leith and Ceren could go elsewhere together, or something like that.

As for the wine, well... She's probably earned it.

I think I'll wait for Silent to post before doing one, as such I'll probably try and post tomorrow evening. I've gotta do some more shopping, help a friend pick out clothes, and go catch a movie (most likely Fantastic beasts).

I really hope Richard and Leith cross paths at some point IC (Im sure they will). Leith isn't an aggressor or violent type of guy, he can't really stick up for Ceren because his word is nothing to Richard, so he sort of just freezes up and tries to take most of the slings and arrows that are aimed on both of them but it takes its toll.

I think they'd probably enjoy a quiet night in on the sofa with pizza, they don't usually get much privacy in the house, its probably a blessing in disguise for them to get some alone time but the premise isn't so nice. Richards a real arse to exclude them from a fancy dinner!

I like the idea of Richard having an upper hand too and knowing that he's letting Meredith have her way when he could pull the rug out from under her too ... it just feeds into her misery and his ego even more. So fitting for his character

Wicked post Si. Ceren is really caught in the middle of things but totally left outside ... like he sees EVERYTHING in this family and he's stuck right in the middle but he doesn't belong at all and sits outside the picture at the same time. Its a very tough position to be in.
