Into The Storm
Hope in the unknown
An endless sandstorm covers the landscape, it has since the collapse ten years ago.
No single mere event had destroyed civilization, disease, war, illegal experimentation, rampant crime, monstrous creatures, warlike machines and the use of nuclear/biological weapons all had occurred in random order. Physics stopped making sense as if the universe itself fell apart (for all the survivors know, it did) the illogical became the norm, many turning insane and stable infrastructure became unstable shelter for the dwindling survivors, as well as a reminder of the past for those who had their minds intact. There was no government left, no faction could rise beyond their shelters nor wanted to, everyone had gone into a free-for-all, trade and communication died with the end of society, the ever mounting violence has made peace as mythical as the civilization that came before. Explaining the past is now impossible, comprehending the present even more so, and the future is forever dark.
A desert of abandoned ruins, rocky hills, dead trees, and the sandstorm that never ends. To survive in these times is to survive in the worst conditions and commit yourself to inhuman feats. Everyone suffers, loses and dies just a little more each day, there is no diamond in the rough or hope for the future. Hoping in escaping from this hell is as foolish as talking first and shooting later.
However, there is one reason left to live.
An unusually powerful light has begun flashing above an abandoned metropolis known as The City, despite no one having entered or left the place since the apocalyptic fall of civilization. Not only that, but the first transmission in years now echoes through all channels and radios- a strange static with what sounds to be a man talking in the background, rather inaudible due to the static. This transmission when traced seems to be coming from The City as well, giving all the more reason to believe something or someone is in there, doing something, or wanting to be found. Using a rather large APC-like vehicle to travel in the brutal storm safely, you all gear up and depart from your shelter, taking the expedition into the unknown in the last desperate hope for anything away from this hellhole.
And what awaits is all the horrors that ended civilization in the first place, waiting out this decade for a daring group just like this.

A Overview
This roleplay will have your characters- united as a group of ragged survivors -take part in a journey through the transformed apocalyptic towns and environs that dot the once-familiar landscape. I'd prefer the exploration to be limited to more urban areas, but roleplays never go as planned, so I'll prepare myself for otherwise. These multiple environments and towns will be altered by the bizarre multi-apocalyptic event, causing them to be inhabited (even if sparsely) by just as bizarre creatures and violent locals, who will attempt to kill us all along our way through our journey. Also we'll also be travelling and living in a rather large APC like we're on a very strange family roadtrip.
Also, you might want to know this doesn't explicitly take place on Earth. This setting- being really, really vague intentionally -makes it able to be very lax with the species/appearances and biographies, so feel free to get a little crazy. Just not too crazy.
Some Notes and Rules
- While I do uncomfortably admit this is going to be my first rodeo in running a thread (with an incredible lack of backbone) I'll be running the plot as it goes along, so do listen if you can.
- Vague as this statement is, I'd prefer no one man army. What survives here is rugged and used to all the disease and destruction, so a group of bandits is not to be scoffed at. Especially if they have guns.
- This universe is a haphazard mix between crazy fantastical elements like magic and supernatural things, to the sci-fi with robots and holograms. With an environment and vehicles that are more alike to the modern-day. Despite this mashup, I do have a limit to how powerful one can be and how much they may have access to from the get-go.
- Speaking of power, the players will only control their characters, not any NPCs, however you may have more than just one character. I'd like it to be two at most. On NPCs, I'll be adding some faceless survivors for us in case not enough people join...and maybe if I just want some cannon fodder even if we do get a lot of people.
- Depressing and serious are to things I run on, so will this roleplay, but don't feel pressured to not have any happiness/light hearted humor or characters. Just know when things get violent, for the characters things are indeed threatening and very serious.
- Romance is permitted but nothing is going to be getting into the mature territory. We're all stuck in a cramped APC without having taken a shower in long while and probably in a mentally questionable state, so I doubt anyone is going to be doing anything with a 18+ Rating any time soon.
- I've bailed threads without saying, so no need to feel guilty if you do. But I do request you inform me if you leave, again no need to be afraid if you don't, I'll figure out via time.
- Feel free to smash my face in when it comes to me getting anything wrong, or even better, if you have any ideas!
- The standard you can expect if you been here for awhile always apply, posts need to be a paragraph or longer, don't be dick, respect fellow members, don't spontaneously burst into flames, etc.
- Also have fun, specifically when it comes to blowing things up and travelling in a rather rad post-apocalyptic APC topped off with a cannon on top.

I'll come up with an example character tomorrow, or go straight into making the OOC thread if there is enough interest. Other than that tear this apart as need be, I'm interested to see what people have to say, if anything.
