After a devastating plague wipes out almost all Earth's mammalian life -- people and otherwise -- humanity rebuilds where it can, how it can. In a former Wilderness Area in the Western United States, the small community of Utopia is built on the tenets of peace and shared prosperity.
But the leaders of the community have a secret: beyond the view of their pacifist population they support a militia that protects their people with the very violence they claim to abhor.
Writing partners for whom I seek:
I am going to initially write 5 Primary Characters, to get the story established. However, these characters are not necessarily permanent characters. If a dedicated writer wishes to have more control over a specific portion of the story, I may allow my PCs to vanish from the story and be replaced:
I will also write additional characters as my fellow writers need to occupy the time of their own characters. However, I don't want to be the only one interacting with the other writers. (I know that often in group role plays, the host is the only writer interacting with the other writers, but I am hoping that ya'll will role play with one another, too. I don't have the time or the interest in being the work horse of the story.)
Timing and Pace:
But the leaders of the community have a secret: beyond the view of their pacifist population they support a militia that protects their people with the very violence they claim to abhor.
Writing partners for whom I seek:
- Will post almost every day, once or more per day.
- Posts do not need to be long. They can be as little as half the length of this very post, so long as they move the story forward for the other involved characters.
- Spelling, grammar, and punctuation checks are required. Mistakes are expected, but so is proofreading.
- Obviously, no "god moding" or "power plays". If you think your actions may intrude upon another writer's plan for his/her character, you are required to first clear the act with that writer and then, if appropriate, inform the Host (me) of what's what so that I know all is well. Courtesy, people. Courtesy and cooperation will make this a great story.
- Concerning sex scenes:
- First and foremost, You MUST obey the Site's rules and limits on erotica.
- I don't mind erotica: in fact, I would like to write some myself.
- However, graphic erotica is not to be written in the Main Thread.
- You may write sex scenes "fade to black" and leave the erotic details to the imagination of the reader.
- You may write the sex scene in a separate thread and link it to our Main Thread.
- Or you may write it in PM.
I am going to initially write 5 Primary Characters, to get the story established. However, these characters are not necessarily permanent characters. If a dedicated writer wishes to have more control over a specific portion of the story, I may allow my PCs to vanish from the story and be replaced:
- Utopia's Patriarch: he leads the community.
- The Militia's Commander: he (obviously) commands the Militia.
- A raider, with whom the previous two must deal.
- A Citizen with an honored place of comfort and respect in Utopia.
- And a Citizen who feels he deserves more than he already has.
- One of the major road blocks to getting dedicated writers involved in group role plays is the difference in pace between writers: these two writers post three times a day, every day, and want to move the story forward in almost real time, if not faster; while these other two writers only post twice a week and after a real life month of posting are still on the first day of the role play.
- To alleviate these road blocks, I would ask that you make inquiries of your potential role play partners about their posting habits before you get involved with them. Find out whether you are compatible before you begin writing with one another.
- And I will tell you that we are going to keep pace with a real world calendar by using time jumps. For example:
- You and your partner are writing a scene in which your characters meet, interact, become chummy, have sex, begin a project, go on a trek, etc.
- Your scene takes a real world month to write but only covers one or two role play days or weeks.
- Near the end of the real world month, the role play calendar WILL jump ahead to the beginning of the next month. Oh, it won't always be so rigid. Sometimes it won't jump that far, sometimes it will jump farther; sometimes it will jump on the 25th of the month because all the writers are ready for the jump by then; and other time it won't jump until the 5th because there are a lot of interactions taking place that need a couple of extra days.
- But it WILL jump.
- And you will just have to find a way to make it happen so that we are all on the same real world time line.
