I was wondering how you guys use pictures in the wiki. Do you ask the owner for permission, inform that it's not yours or just hope that no one finds out?

@Slime Personally, I've been only using pictures I've made myself.

I think the rule of thumb we established was 'try not to get the wiki copywrite-blammed.'

If in doubt, don't use the picture in the wiki. Linking to a post here on RPGuild with the relevant image should be fine though.

@Cyclone Okay, I'm watching boring group presentations, so I can give you a more detailed answer on current hain worshipping habits.

Chippers have had enough time to spread around to just about all hain tribes accessible from the larger areas of mainland. There may be some isolated tribes that do not know who they are. A couple of things to keep in mind is that the information they carried is not consistent and the Chipper tradition has morphed into various forms and intensities of Stone Chipper worship over the years.

Overall, there are currently two dominant religious habits of hain. These are Teknall worship, Mesathelassan shamanism, and Slough worship:

Slough worship is ritual idolatry of nature and is generally seen more strongly around the Venomweald.

Mesathelassan shamanism is what Capy has been fostering in Mesathelassa. It's fairly concentrated there, but still set firmly into the culture at this point.

Teknall worship is anything from respect to outright dogmatic allegiance to Stone Chipper. It's pretty much everywhere at some level or another. Teknall is kinda their race's patron right now.

Minor faiths are scattered around as appropriate. Lifprasil and Amartia both have hain worshippers. Many elemental lords could have fostered a hain population and become worshipped. There are probably still some chaos hain around. Hain Sculptors are here and there. Some hain around Rulanah will have taken Sularn's oath and begun to worship Toun, for better or worse. Chiral Phi lured some hain into her candy van in Metera. And don't forget that there are some hain in the Valley of Peace who worship Niciel and the angels.

Basically, hain are just about everywhere, so they sample into just about every open faith with a few exceptions. However, most do not have the proper construction knowledge to build any worship building bigger than a shrine. Those that do are probably Alefprian, Yorumite, a few Mesathelassans, and anywhere else where they would both have good construction and the motivation to build a temple.

So, I was writing my essay and got bored, and you arty lot inspired me to pick up the pencil once more after many, many years (and my terrible phone-camera took another with a better camera!). I tried my hand at drawing a Vowzra's Victor :D

For clarity, my question mainly concerns the Hain that would be in that area near the Venomweald and Firewind that Ommok is invading. Because I didn't explicitly mention what "large swathes" of land Ommok took, I'm going to scale back the size of his conquests significantly.

Thinking about canonizing some tribal confederation that would offer a little bit more resistance to the ogres.

So given what you just said, I'll go with Slough worship and some Stone Chippers being present. Probably will take the liberty of saying that the "shrines" to Slough are just sacred groves or trees, maybe like the Irminsuls from Germanic pagan traditions.

Sounds good to me. There might also be an elemental or two on the Firewind end that has made a cult of you like.

Can someone tell me more about Flux's well?

If memory serves me right, Flux is the djinni who used to live on shore that Jvan eventually changed. Or am I mixing stuff up? How'd he end up in the middle of Rukbany xD

@Kho The Flux story happened a few hundred years ago and he's been busy since then. Terraforming and habitat construction are still his thing, and at some point he spent a few decades building a garden north of where his beach used to be.

It's basically a cluster of mounds with groves planted on them and sheltered paths in between forming a small maze, at the center of which is a spring he uncovered and turned into a pool.

Whisper will wander past there shortly but chronologically ahead of the Rukban story. In the meanwhile Flux has been repairing the terrain of Angelblood Ridge before moving to the Valley of Peace to avoid Realta.

@Cyclone, Muttonhawk provided a pretty good summary of hain religion. I'll provide my own commentary on Chippers.

Chippers are pretty much everywhere, since travelling is something a devoted Chipper does. At a minimum, a Chipper is someone who follows the actions of Stone Chipper by making some effort to spread technological information. Chippers are significantly more likely to worship Teknall than other hain, but worshiping Teknall (or Stone Chipper) is not required of a Chipper, although all Chippers respect Stone Chipper. Of course, there are some Chippers who are fanatically devoted to Teknall (eg. Shammik), but they are less common.

Considering that Teknal hasn't actually put any rules in place for his religion, Teknall-worship lacks rituals of its own. If anyone does do anything more than pray, learn and teach as part of worshipping Teknall, it will be borrowed from the surrounding religions.

The line between Stone Chipper and Teknall is somewhat blurred among the hain. While walking Galbar, Stone Chipper claimed to be a prophet of Teknall, rather than Teknall himself. However, considering Stone Chipper's legendary status, some may revere Stone Chipper as highly as the gods themselves. Many probably worship Teknall directly. And some, probably by hearing it twelfth-hand, may consider Teknall and Stone Chipper to be effectively the same person.

@Kho I actually did it! You didn't get onto the pad, so I wasted my time trying to draw an ogre instead.

Look, everyone, and let none say that the drawing skills of Cyclone pales before any other!

Notice the brawny arms, the protruding gut, the lack of any bodily hair, and the usage of some crude pickaxe-looking weapon. He's an ogre alright!

Maybe I'll put just a wee bit more effort into Ommok if I ever try to draw him...

The ogre's face was inspired moreso by the Greenskins from Warhammer.

Note the beady eyes in deep sockets, the flat nose, the fangs, etc. I TRIED to portray that, but drawing is harder than I remember
