*Just now read above* I was meaning to change the armor, since it's normal state is only supposed to be high defense, not impregnable. That's what her active is for. that i was thinking of just doubling.

Now that I'm seriously looking at this sword, it's pretty dumb. She's not even really supposed to be attacking anything, but i couldn't think of anything else to put there. The point of the character is to be the "Tank", absorbing massive amounts of damage so the rest of the group can survive. Can someone help me come up with something defensive"

Chukklehead, pardon me if I butt into the discussion, but I would like to point out that many characters work with very low multipliers, even on abilities that aren't terribly useful. In fact, some characters whom do not state their multipliers (such as the innate weaponry of rook spirits) are assumed to attack with a POW multiplier of 1. I know you believe that with the drawbacks it's not that overpowering, but the simple fact that she'll end up potentially dealing 3-5 times more damage than other holders with a normal attack is a problem.

Tip: although this rp is combat heavy it's not all there is to the rp. Information gathering, healing and other supportive abilities can be very useful. For example, one early mission had us face stone golems far stronger than ourselves, such that my combat oriented rook couldn't put a scratch on them even with its strongest attack.

Well then if you're going to change the sword then further discussing about it is moot. But yeah, the armor stuff.

Well, maybe at another shield to mitigate Magic? From what I see she's now only defending herself (and others) from physical dangers.

Good point. how about this?

Titanic Crystal: Maria summons a crystal shield that absorbs any harmful magic directed at it. Each spell it blocks lights up one of the 12 crystal sections that make up the shield, and when 3 or more are filled Maria can release a shock wave from the shield, consuming the magic to force anyone in front of the shield backwards, as if she had Shoved them. (Every 3 crystals lit simulates 1 level of Shove)
[Active] Titanic Refraction: Instead of a shockwave, Maria can release the magic stored in the shield in it's original form, casting the spell meant for her at whomever she chooses. The spell is unchanged (If it was set to track her, it will still track her. If it couldn't effect the caster, it still won't.), but she releases it in the direction the shield is facing. Duration 1, CD 5+ CD of the spells released, if any.

Hmmm... Not sure how to quantify number of spells. Wonder if kest will like it.

The shield absorbs spells, as in a Bishop's attacks. If it can be blocked by the shield (That is, if the spell has to cross the distance between the caster and Maria, and she can get the shield between them) it adds one to the count.

I'll probably limit that to "One spell out of every section of the shield" since the shield is divided into four sections, each one containing 3 crystal fragments.

I mean, spells can take all sorts of forms. If the Bishop summons a hail of magic arrows and your shield blocks a couple, does that count? Also, what koka said isn't entirely true:most spells still cause physical effects so your normal shield would block them anyway, wouldn't it?

Or maybe I can make it a bit more complicated, but way cooler. like:

"Each time a spell is absorbed, it lights up a fragment of the shield with an elemental color. when all twelve fragments are lit, Maria can release a blast of the predominant element from the shield, consuming the magic within."

Earth: Lights up yellow. Creates a directional earthquake when released, which can be used to bring down small structures.
Fire: Lights up red. Creates a gout of flame 12 feet long.
Air: Lights up green. Creates a small tornado that disrupts projectiles and light objects caught in it.
Water: Lights up blue. Creates a burst of chill, freezing the area in front of her.

The shield nullifies magic, it doesn't block hits. If a bishop summoned a hail of arrows, and just one hit the shield, the spell would be absorbed, along with all the arrows, filling one slot. as for my other shield, It's far more useful for straight defense, being larger and sturdier, but besides it's active has no retaliatory effects.

Yeah. Pretty much this. The 10 multiplier will have you kill things that you shouldn't be able to. It's unwieldy, sure, but what if you team up with say, Mime, Mime copies the armour and POW of Maria and is his annoying self to distract an opponent. Meanwhile Maria insta-kills it. Valeric's example of the first meeting with the golem, as well as the mother dragon, are opponents you're not supposed to kill with convenient strategies, or at all. Distract->backstab is a convenient strategy.

I'd say for the sword you'd make it a regular (no multiplier) sword with an active that's got heightened range and a 1.5 multiplier (if you keep the CD that high.)

Armour people usually haven't given modifiers for, outside of Xaltwind's magic damage armour, but I've counted people using it with 1.5 so far. Though I never mentioned that OOC :P

The (new) shield is cool, as well as the active. The elemental spells active, would have to work off of Maria's stats, I think.

Also you don't have to change this, but it's totally weirding me out that your character shares her name with my girlfriend ;p

Can't wait for custom tabs to be implemented. This RP would benefit from it so much... I don't have to hunt for my own mission posts.
