Working on my CS today; an ancient pre-War Ghoul scrounger and prospector known as Old Walker, a jack of all trades and master of none. He is a high Intelligence and Endurance character with middling Perception and Agility that uses a wide variety of weapons and gadgets to survive.
Speaking of ancient Ghouls; at his current age of 239 Austin Woods would have been a very old man at the time of the Great War. The events of New Vegas take place much earlier than Fallout 4. Was that intentional, @Lauder, @Letter Bee?
Very much so. It only adds to the fact that he has seen a whole lot and his general attitude on existence, granted I'm sure anyone would feel the same way after being alive for hundreds of years. Though, he doesn't feel that old anymore at the very least, so there is that.
Edit: Actually come to think of it, New Vegas is set 204 years after the Great War, yeah? Technically he would only be trapped at about 35. Unless I'm doing my math wrong of course.

New Vegas is set 131 years after the Great War.
EDIT: Nevermind, somehow managed to use the wrong dates. You're right!
@Letter BeeSo, since we're using an alternate timeline, and the fate of the non-Synth version of the character was never truly determined, I decided to write up the original pre-War Nick Valentine as a ghoul. Hopefully this is okay for me to play, but if not I will be fine with making another character instead.
Name: Nick Valentine
Age: 229
Looks:
Nick is a ghoul, with all the usual features of rotting flesh, no nose, disgusting-colored eyes, crumbling ears, a raspy voice, and little to no hair. He wears a remarkably clean button-up shirt and slacks, with a black tie around his neck. He has a shoulder holster for his revolver on, and over that he wears a brown suit trench coat, and a matching fedora on his head.
Personality: Nick is a kind, charming person, always ready to help those in need, and easy to get along with. He cares about all the people of the wasteland, even the brutish and misunderstood Super Mutants, or his fellow ghouls. He never turns down a case, and often eschews payment for cases
Faction: A licensed Private Eye under the NCR, he also has the blessing of Mr. House to operate in New Vegas.
S.P.E.C.I.A.L= (45 Points spread wisely. Cannot go over 10 on any one stat) Strength: 4 Perception: 4 Endurance: 4 Charisma: 7 Intelligence: 9 Agility: 9 Luck: 8
Backstory: Nick Valentine was originally a police detective from Chicago. He was brought to Boston to lead "Operation Winter's End," an operation to bring down mob boss Edward Winter. Unfortunately, Winter or one of his associates managed to find out about Nick's fiancee, Jennifer Lands and killed her in revenge for Nick's involvement in the operation.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Drugs, Tobacco, Firearms and Lasers received intelligence of associates of Winter discussing her whereabouts, but senior officers decided not to place Jennifer or Nick into witness protection in order to avoid compromising the investigation. To make matters worse, Nick and the rest of the task force on Operation Winter's End discovered that Winter was actually working for the BADTFL and the district attorney against the other mob bosses in exchange for immunity.
In the weeks preceding the fall of the bombs, Winter was released and Operation Winter's End was disbanded. Nick was ordered to seek treatment for PTSD at the C.I.T., where his brain was scanned as part of his treatment.
Following this treatment, Nick decided to take a vacation in Las Vegas, to get his mind off of the events that had just occurred. It was there he was when the bombs fell, just on the outskirts of the city, in a hotel. Thanks to Mr. House's defense system built inside the city of Las Vegas, Nick managed to survive the explosions of the bombs, though the fallout radiation managed to still harm him, turning him into what would become known as a ghoul.
With what now appeared to be immortality of age, Nick decided to take to the one thing he knew how to do best: helping others. Guiding people he found in the mojave, to the relatively unscathed city of Las Vegas, he managed to save dozens, if not hundreds of lives. Eventually, once Mr. House reopened the strip, he would ask for and receive permission to set up a detective agency there.
With the arrival of the NCR, and their occupation of territory directly west of the city, Nick would eventually take a trip into their territory, ensuring a license to practice his craft in their land, before moving back to New Vegas. This is where he is now, running a detective agency of steadily-increasing fame, and doing his part to help the people of the wasteland.
Weapon choice: Prefers pistols, currently uses a .44 revolver.
Jake is a ghoul, with all the usual features of rotting flesh, no nose, disgusting-colored eyes, crumbling ears, a raspy voice, and little to no hair. He wears the uniform and gear of an NCR trooper, with rank insignia denoting him as a corporal in the NCR Army, and a red beret denoting him as a member of 1st Recon.
Personality: Jake is a gruff survivalist type, not speaking often, and not liking to spend very much time around people or in urban areas. He prefers the company of the wilderness, a good spotting partner, a bottle of whiskey, and a pack of cigarettes.
Faction: A Corporal in the NCR Army, a member of the 1st Recon division, and a citizen of the NCR.
S.P.E.C.I.A.L= (45 Points spread wisely. Cannot go over 10 on any one stat) Strength: 5 Perception: 8 Endurance: 5 Charisma: 4 Intelligence: 5 Agility: 8 Luck: 10
Backstory: Jake was a loner even before the Great War, and it shows. He rarely talks about his past, though the wedding ring he wears around his finger, and the cross necklace he keeps around his neck are hints at it, and he can often be found muttering something he calls a "prayer", or reading a worn black book with faded gold text reading "he oly Bibl" on the front.
Jake's past following the war is a bit more open. He was one of the people "lucky" enough to become a ghoul, living in a small california town that was just far enough from ground zero to give him the perfect dose of radiation for the reaction. From there, he wandered California and the surrounding areas, spending quite a bit of time in a town called Broken Hills, where Humans, Super Mutants, and Ghouls lived in relative harmony. That all ended in 2242, which the uranium mine sustaining the town went dry, and everyone left.
From there, Jake moved to what had become the New California Republic, becoming a citizen and an eventual member of the Army. His training went well, with decent enough marksmanship to earn him a place in the Recon branch of the Army, eventually finding a home in 1st Recon, the primer scouting and sniping unit of the Army.
He would soon find himself deployed to the Mojave, scouting the area, and playing rival to the presence of The New Legion, fighting off raiding and scouting parties from across the colorado, while also combatting raider and bandit groups throughout the region. At the moment he's lacking a spotter, so he's having to do alone what snipers usually do in pairs.
Weapon choice: He carries a scoped .308 Hunting Rifle, and a 9mm pistol as a sidearm.
Still somewhat debated, La Muerte is believed to be female. Although due to extensive kevlar padding, a heavy duster, and a sinister sounding voice synthesizer, some still believe it is a feminine male. There are also suspicions that La Muerte is multiple people, rather than a single person as each time La Muerte appears, their face paint is in a different pattern though some repeats have occurred.
Personality: People who have survived an encounter with La Muerte couldn’t hear much on account of the many explosions but some report that La Muerte is very preachy and apparently very religious. Among her acts of terrorism, she usually preaches about how society as fallen to far and must return to embrace “Him”. Whether this means she is a Children of Atom believer or some Old World religion worshiper, it isn’t certain. Probably the nicer thing about La Muerte is that she does not discriminate targets with the exception of children a few times. Whether La Muerte has a soft spot or likes to foster in fear is uncertain. However, it is likely the latter as La Muerte doesn’t seek to eradicate a populace, only inflict losses and scare them.
Faction: Mr. House? Independent? S.P.E.C.I.A.L= (45 Points spread wisely. Cannot go over 10 on any one stat) Strength: 4 Perception: 7 Endurance: 5 Charisma: 7 Intelligence: 9 Agility: 7 Luck: 6
Backstory: La Muerte is a self-labeled terrorist that has recently been causing quite a lot of havoc and grief for both parties of the war: NCR and Legion. Some suspect that La Muerte may have ties to Vegas or be an associate of this Muted Man. However, others would argue that the Strip is a lot harder target to hit than the several installations that La Muerte has visited. Origins of La Muerte have been as difficult to determine as her motive. Some say La Muerte has come up from Mexico, a convict on the run. Others think she might be an exiled Boomer due to the love of explosives. However a few had noticed the striking similarities with a character from Drake Tungsten, Chrono Cowboy, including the name San La Muerte. Thus, a few believe that she just might be crazy.
La Muerte has been running rampant on and off for the past year now. There are sections where she terrorizes NCR territory before vanishing for about two weeks and then reappearing in Legion territory, terrorizing their population. She always leaves a calling card behind of some kind, usually a small hallmark card painted over with the La Muerte face and some holy verse scribbled inside. Nobody knows where La Muerte goes during her downtime but people assume that she has a workshop somewhere that she uses to restock. She’s likely to have an alias, too, but again, nobody is certain who is exactly under the face paint.
Weapon choice: Explosives
Perks (Add only three): Demolition Expert, Jury Rig, Terrifying Presence
'Tagged' Skills (the skills you are strongest in; add only three unless you add a 'Weak Skill', see below):
Explosives Science Repair
Any other info not included in the above:
Name: Katherine “Kate” Marlo Age: 29 Faction: Mr. House and New Vegas
Looks can be deceiving and Kate certainly likes to be deceiving... Kate is about average height for a female, has a very median build but noticeable muscle definition. Her skin tone is slightly tanned with freckles on her face. She bears a few scars, mostly on her torso. She mostly remains expressionless with a dead stare, only displaying emotion when putting on an act. At one time people thought Kate had quite a soft and soothing voice but as time has past, she sounds a bit hoarse as if she has needs to cough or something. Usually dresses up in leather bomber jacket, pants, an aviator, and a weathered hat.
Personality: Kate is much for conversation often finding people are too wordy or dull to really attract her attention. In her eyes, they were all savages in a way. A bit hypocritical but she didn’t care or really notice. She has an extreme hatred for the NCR and usually lumps the Legion, finding them to be a bit depraved and deplorable. This fueled hatred does lead her to take an active role against them and as long as you aren’t associated with either, she doesn’t care too much about you. There have been a few who have been able to crack her shell and extremely outgoing people or the sincere,j soft, and caring type can soften Kate’s hard exterior for her to open up. Anybody who can keep her entertained is a plus, like some of the show business people on the Strip. While she also values the true friendship in people like the Followers of the Apocalypse as this was how Kate use to naively envision the world.
Backstory: Growing up, Katherine was originally part of the Boomer clan that had emerged from their vault to populate Nellis Air Force Base. Due to the xenophobic nature of the Boomers, they all spent their time isolated from the outside world. As Katherine grew up, however, she wanted to experience what was out there and had tried to petition her tribe to maybe send someone out. Denied repeatedly, Katherine grew frustrated and eventually thought it a good idea to sabotage one of the Boomer’s flight simulators in an attempt to have them search for outside help on repair parts. Of course, Katherine was found out and seeing as she wanted to experience the outside world so bad, they exiled her, threatening her to never comeback.
Not the way she wanted it to go, Katherine grew a bit hostile which fueled her discovery of violence and theft being the keys of survival outside the Air Force Base. Eventually this caught up to her and firefight with the NCR lead to her becoming wounded, left her dead on the roadside. She was only saved from death due to a passing Follower of the Apocalypse. Katherine recovered in the Old Mormon Fort, grateful for the help, but grew very aggravated with the rest of the world. From that point on, she swore she had enough NCR and suspected Legion could do the same. She now realized why the Boomers did not want to leave because this outside world was horrid and now with both power factions threatening her family and friends back home, she vowed to do something….
Inspiration for La Muerte did indeed come from Chrono Cowboy as there had been a few comics floating around when she was a kid. She had always loved the La Muerte and Muertos bad guys she decided that she should take up that model. The explosives came when she got lucky on a tip and discovered an old firework factory that was stocked with enough black powder to blow up the Strip. It was also a boon to her that she knew and worked with explosives plenty when growing up as everyone was trained with the artillery. Creating explosives was another thing but after some practice, Katherine did managed to become quite good at the process.
For a whole year, Katherine hid under the guise of La Muerte using facepaint to play the part, a salvaged voice unit from a sentry bot to disguise her voice, spouting religious crap to disguise her intentions... Loot she gained was put back into her work and the excess to fuel her found love of gambling. It had been going well she thought until a mysterious man approached her just last week. The Muted Man was quite persuasive, albeit intimidating too, and offered her a position to work for Mr. House. There were plenty of perks in addition to that thinly veiled threat that Katherine decided to accept and see where it takes her. She had always spared New Vegas due to the Followers of the Apocalypse being there and not necessarily as a show of respect to Mr. House, but it appeared it had been interpreted that way. Still, Katherine couldn’t complain being given access to the Strip proper now. It sure beat those shitty knock offs off the strip.
So what is Mr. House's play at the very moment? What does he request of his new associate, La Muerte? Does Legion control serve him better or NCR? I figured NCR might still serve his goal as it provides citizenry a place to visit, gamble, spend money, whereas the Legion will be a bit stricter on control and ultimately bad for the House.
@Pirouette, NCR serves Mr. House better. And, sorry for not giving you something specific to do, although I did leave a couple of 'general' plot hooks at the first half of the post.
Also, considering the fact that we have 10 characters now, want to be Co-GM?

That's fine. I can kind of picture something where House catches wind of/anticipates the Nipton plot and sends La Muerte to try and protect the town. In fact, probably more the latter as Kate will pack light and just kind of keep an eye out on the town. No sense in packing heavy based on a "gut feeling".
