Luck; The power of luck is a finicky one at best. Its not "Well I just happen to know the password to get into this high level computer terminal so we can beat the bad guy". Perhaps the password was an easy to guess one, such as "Password1234". She doesn't know the password, and isn't sure to guess it correctly. As such the Luck power gives slight bonuses to most things. In combat, its only halfway decent. Such as the enemy misses a few times then hits. Or She finds a weapon on the ground that she can use, but not proficiently.
Its a coin flip at best.
However, if she surrounds herself with lucky images/does lucky things (Four Leaf Clover, Horse Shoe, Knock on wood, etc) The chances of lucky things happens increases slightly.
Strengths: (this is primarily talents that aren't superpowers, and can include learned skills and racial abilities that aren't "super")

What I envision for the lodge is a group of individuals (some with powers, but all with a certain degree of bravery) bond together through an unlikely series of adventures that turn them into a team - a team that may eventually change, or save, the world of Faiza from a threat to all life and freedom. Part of the fun will be seeing the heroes grow and change as time goes on, part of it will be the sheer joy of exploration, danger, and adventure.

...and if there happen to be things like swimsuit episodes, romantic developments among the team or with other characters met along the way, and other hijinx that really are difficult to explain to people later but make you laugh really hard, well...

That'd be pretty bonus.

AND, if things go well, I may run other RPs set in this same world, but at different times and places. This RP will focus primarily on the lodgers, but Faiza is a big place, and they can't be everywhere at once.

...I'm not sure if that's the answer to the question that was asked, but I figure it never hurts to throw stuff like this out there, see what sticks. I mean, this general concept was run in different iterations in chatrooms a number of times for over a decade - some of which still exist in some form today. I'm trying to bring this concept to a more static form of RP medium.

Sounds good so far. I was worried about the first three characters being so close in age, but it looks like things are going to be plenty diverse. Hopefully there will be no stabbing early on because I'm still working out how Amie's sword and powers work that would be an awkward start.

Perhaps something akin to the Monado Arts (Xenoblade Chronicles) that are used by Shulk in Super Smash Bros. The sword cycles between five stat buffs (jump height, movement speed, shield, attack damage, and knockback) that last for a brief time. It could be practical outside of combat as well. Better still, something on her person (a glove, for example) could cycle through the abilities and apply them to the sword because future science.

I GOT IT! CHECK IT OUT!

She has a crest on the back of her glove that can cycle through abilities that last for 30 seconds. They can be changed/swapped instantly but the same one cannot be used back to back. The Crest glows gold and the "J" changes to a symbol representing the ability (I'm going with column 1 for now) while it is active. When holding the sword, the blade glows gold as well and adopts those properties, though it isn't necessary for the buffs.

For example, "Evade" lets Amie run and dodge faster as a person. When applied to the sword, the sword moves faster and can attack more in a shorter period of time. I'll try to explain them better later.

Oh, and the ability names spell her family name.

@Weird Tales - I'm diggin' the dog! I might like a slightly more in-depth description of the parameters of his powers (like what kinds of constructs, how long do they last, how hard can he hit, that kinda thing), but it's not necessary to add that to the CS, you can just explain it briefly here. And I do think you've added some character balance with the weaknesses that'll be interesting to see play out, what with another member of the party having electrokinetic powers and all...

@Lovisa Coldeyes - Looks like a start - I'll be able to give better feedback once the whole sheet is complete, of course. I'm still a little iffy on whether I like something as ephemeral as "luck" be a power, since it looks good on paper and in stories, but might be a little funky in an RP. Still, if everyone else in the RP is on board to work with writing good luck for the character in their posts, I don't see why it couldn't work - and it might end up being kinda fun, too!

Okay, to everyone: things did not go as planned this week, so I'm afraid that I'm not able to post the IC/OOC yet like I though. However, I should have time to finish it by Monday, and here is what we will do: post your CS in the OOC once it is up, I'll reply and let y'all know who should post their sheets in the characters tab, and then we can boogie in IC once the six slots are filled!

@Tergonaut his contructs can take any shape based upon his imagination and they are as hard as he can concentrate. Basically if he isn't concentrating then the constructs are more breakable so their toughness can range from being as hard as bullet proof glass to metal like steel. They also last as long as he has the energy too focus his mind.

Well...it seems you already have a techie, but I'd still like to cast my lot if there ends up being room. The first character I thought of has been one I've played frequently, but she seems to fit; it would only take one transdimensional anomaly brought on by futzing about with gravitational manipulation to transport her to Fazia.

What do you think about a mental link with technology? Specifically, the ability to psionically identify components, their purpose, their condition, and their potential usefulness as scrap components, via bombarding the object with brainwaves and reading their reflections. There's more to it than that, but that's the short and skinny of it. I'm sure I can scrounge up her full character sheet if asked to do so.

Samantha Cole is terribly inquisitive, despises human interaction, and prefers the company of machines. She'll take any excuse to investigate a new technology, and has been caught more times than she can count with her hands on somebody else's scrap. It is a very good thing she's light on her feet, and just a little too squirmy for the unprepared.

My thinking is to exploit the short story arc you've proposed to explain how she ended up on Fazia, via a series of unfortunate events involving the local (well...in terms of star systems, anyway) government and the violation of several "restricted arms" statutes. Could be fun.

I will be interested to hear your thoughts.

@Jabber - I didn't answer this properly before, but I do aim to have a certain degree of consistency as the RP goes on. This will roll into future lodge-related RPs I might run - it'd be really neat if this went on long enough for me to justify a 20-Years-Later RP with a new set of characters!

@BlessedWrath - While you're right about the techie coverage, I also like the idea of integrating in your character's arrival as a part of the introductory story - even have some ideas about how that could be accomplished. A couple of my classic characters are based entirely around the idea of being teleported from an alternate dimension.

Everyone - I'm posting this just past midnight my time, and I should actually be in bed, but I wanted to update you to let you know that I have the IC post written up for the actual RP, and most of the OOC is written up already. I will likely post it later today if at all possible (partly depends on how long it takes to pretty up the OOC), aiming for the title "The Lodge Outside of Segaso City" to be a little more distinct.

I will require everyone to post their completed CS in the OOC thread for final approval - once approved, you may post your character in the characters tab. Once I have my six approved starting players, and their CSes are posted in the characters tab, I will open the RP for IC posting.

I shall retrieve the full CS at once. No worries if it doesn't make the final cut; I'm just happy to be discussing ideas again.

EDIT: I am being reliably blocked from sending PMs, so I'm not entirely certain what to do, other than to post the CS here. I had wanted to do that privately, first, so as to clear out all the irrelevant clutter before posting publicly.

Never have I been so interested and then bummed that apparently the entire site was also interested... Next time maybe I'll get here sooner.

I'm surprised at how many people have shown interest in the RP, especially since I only had a kernel of an idea to start with. It's encouraging! And it may lead to me starting another RP or two in the same universe just to accomodate...but, we'll see how this RP actually rolls before I get too far ahead of myself.

Still working on the formatting for the posts to make them look a little nicer - could be up later tonight, could be up tomorrow.
