Nodding, Ele climbed up onto the front of the trailer and found the release. Looking at Tyler to make sure he was ready, Ele carefully let the strap out, the car rolling back a bit but not completely. When the strap was fully undone, Ele placed her hands on the front, prepared to give the car a push,

"Ready?"

She asked, waiting for Tyler's signal.

He says, pushing against the car but not pushing it forward.

"When it starts rolling you can keep pushing until you feel it roll away from you."

Ele said, then put her weight into pushing the car backwards towards Tyler. Throwing her weight forward rocked the car into motion until Ele was able to keep it moving. When it finally did roll away from her hands, Ele immediately backed off and jumped down to the side of the trailer.

He slowly backs up keeping his body against it. He keeps backing up until it is fully off the trailer and about 10 feet from the trailer. He walks over to the trailer and puts the ramps up into place and the straps in the back of the truck.

"Good thing that car only weighs about 1,600 pounds."

Crossing her arms and flicking her hair over her shoulder, Ele smiled and said,

"Oh yeah, pss-shaw, 1,600 pounds is nothing."

She stuck her tongue out at Tyler then put her arms up to flex her biceps,

"Totally moved that sucker, not a problem!"

He walks up to the truck and opens the passenger door and smirks at Ele.

Nodding Ele smiled at Tyler as she approached the side of the truck, it seemed higher than she remembered,

"Why thank you, sir!"

She said before hauling herself into the truck. Once she was in place, Ele huffed and puffed a little,

"Imma need a step stool or something for this rig!"

He says with a smirk. He walks around to his side of the truck and climbs in.

"Now we shall be on our way."

He fires the truck up and pulls out to the road taking off on the road trip.

Up in the truck, Ele felt like she could see everything and she loved it. Being short offered few opportunities to see over things, but up here was like a whole new world.

It was a quick drive to the resort and Ele jumped from the truck to hurry inside and change. Because she knew that she would be working on cars, she changed into a pair of faded denim cutoffs with holes in them and a fitted band t-shirt. Slipping her feet back into her tennis shoes, Ele went back out to the truck,

"Can I get that lift?"

She asked, opening the door.

He hops out and walks around to her, he smiles and lifts her up by her waist and plants her butt on the seat. He walks back around to his side and hops back in.

"Now it is official, we are on our road trip."

He takes off from the resort once again.

"We are going to a place called Hale. They have a mud bog there once a year with one of the biggest organizers of mud bog parties in the country. Trucks Gone Wild Michigan Mud jam, an entire weekend in september and one of the last of the year."

"Have you ever hooked up an inner tube to the back and ridden on it?"

She asked excitedly,

"I saw that on TV once, is that a thing?"

"I have actually, taken and given rides. Mostly given though."

"Definitely real, they also take car hoods and weld racing seats and a roll cage to it and ride on those."

She said happily, settling into the ride. Keeping a hold of Tyler's hand, Ele studied their interlocked fingers and how they fit together. His palm was warm against hers, and the size difference made Ele's hand look like a child's. But she liked how they looked together, how they fit in the spaces just right.

He smiles and hits the long road leading out of the county."

He sets the cruise control and just relaxes.

They sat quietly for a few minutes, but Ele leaned forward and fiddled with the radio, turning on a country station. Country music was a secret love of hers, and when a familiar song came on, Ele sung quietly along. Watching the trees and the fields go by, Ele couldn't remember a time she had felt more relaxed or at home.

Ele said, leaning to look at the hill. It was big, and slightly intimidating to look at,

"I've never actually been in snow either, well, until my first day here. And we both know how well that went."

"Later this year, if you come out here we can go sledding."

He begins climbing another hill and dropping down the other side, keeping this up before coming into a new city.

"Welcome to West Branch. We gotta drive through the city to get to the road that leads to Hale."

He rolls past a restaurant and points it out.

"The Willow Tree Restaurant. I used to workout with a guy that worked there. They are one of the few places that actively hire ex cons. Most people stay clear of ex convicts, this place accepts them to give them a place to find their way."

He drives for another 5 miles before coming up to a light. He stops and waits for his turn to go, turning right.
