Hello and thanks for stopping in! :D

So, as is stated by the title, this will be an Elder Scrolls RP set in the realm of Skyrim.

It will be designed as free-willed and open world as is standard for fantasy media.

This is only a very skeletal design however, as there are several things to be "put to vote" here and discussed.

So, without further ado, let us begin...

_______________________________________________________

THE YEAR/DATE

Should this RP be set on the exact date that the actual game of Skyrim began? (4E, The 17th of The Last Seed)

Take note that this is the exact day that Alduin the World Eater appears at Helgen before burning it down and ushering in the return of the dragons. This of course would stretch our own characters' stories along somewhat similar paths and force upon them decisions that those within the game were faced with.

OR, should we set it exactly one year before the events of the game? This of course would give more leeway and make for a more potentially unique and diverse set of stories.

However, I realize that many would wish to wage battle against the dragons, who would not be put into play should we use an alternate timeline.

Also, many would wish to partake in the Civil War and join the Empire or the Stormcloaks one, and while the Civil War was in full effect just a year prior to game events, very little along the lines of battles and skirmishes had taken place.

Needless to say, the timeline issue is the first thing to address.

____________________________________________________________

INITIAL SETTING/STARTUP LOCALE

I have partook in many, many fantasy RP's, and one thing that I have discovered that can totally kill off an RP of such structure is Location Diversity.

Meaning when you have, say, 8 players and all eight off them choose totally isolated and far off locations, that sets them far apart from one another.

The players eventually get bored with tinkering with GM controlled AI's and NPC's and grow frustrated with trying to come up with reasons to meet other players in distant realms, and they just sort of fade away.

Meaning, I propose that we all start within a decent radius of one another. Perhaps all in the same Hold, just in different parts of the lead city or in separate nearby villages and hamlets.

What say you all?

And, If we all agree here, we must now choose a hold.

_____________________________________________________________

THE FATE OF THE DRAGONBORN

Let me just make this VERY CLEAR , should we choose Skyrims' canon timeline and year, NO PLAYER CREATED AND CONTROLLED CHARACTERS CAN BE THE DRAGONBORN.

The Dragonborn will exist mind you, but he shall be a rarely encountered NPC masterminded by me.

He will be encountered here and there and will usually have a presence in areas where rumors say that dragon attacks have occurred or dragons have been slain, as well as some other areas of high interest and important events.

This is not up for debate. This is more of a declarative general statement.

____________________________________________________________

LEVELING UP/ABILITY INCREASING

This I need some help with.

I have a basic skeletal design set up for ability increase and leveling up.

Each in-game day you can train, or practice, a certain art or skill.
They are;

•Archery
•Focus (Magical Connection)
•Physical Ability (Speed, Agility, Strength, and Stamina)
•Weapon Skill (All Weapons aside from bows.)
•Intelligence (Reading) (This affects charisma, cleverness, and speech.)
•Meditation (This strengthens your mastery of using your Voice, IF that is you have learned any words yet.)

•Crafts (Practicing a certain craft and bettering yourself in it.) (Such as smithing, alchemy, cooking, tanning, ect.)

Note: You can only practice a one craft a day.

And again, I need some feedback and assistance with this, please.

______________________________________________________________

THE WAY OF THE VOICE

No one starts out with a Voice.

You have to learn the words wherever you may find them etched, written, or carved and master them over time.

______________________________________________________________

Alright, let us begin the planning and discussion.

Remember, this is an interest thread entirely open for feedback, discussion, and opinion, so fire away!

Any other issues or points of discussion that come up will be added as need be.

Okay so this interests me I do have a few questions just to see if I'll be able to fully participate in this RP

1. This one's pretty much the only thing deciding if I can join or not, how long would you expect for each post? At most I can probably write 1-2 paragraphs at the moment depending on how much content I've got to work with.

2.Does a really old vampire recently arriving at Skyrim seem too out of place or overpowered? Like, the guy was sealed up during the oblivion crisis so he's lost most of his powers due to lack of use and generally forgetting them. Or would you prefer I just used someone abit less..ancient?

Also for time, I'd propose at the beginning of Skyrim, it gives the characters an opportunity to meet up quickly due to the news (perhaps they all heard of the Helgen attack and went to investigate?) and we know all the stuff that went on from that point so I'd imagine it's an easier point to start at.

As for location, I'd say Whiterun. It's in the centre so the party can pretty much get anywhere with ease.

Just throwing in my 2p, not even sure if I'll be able to join so sorry if I'm being a bit..rude.

At minimum I expect one paragraph. At minimum. I generally prefer 2-3, but I do understand that content sometimes demands otherwise.

As for your character preference, a Vampire would be fine, but less ancient yes, let's say someone who was turned just in recent years.

And I also understand and agree with your Whiterun suggestion.

I hope you can partake!

@Multimind I can definitely work with that, I've been waiting to join a Skyrim RP for awhile so I've had a character in my mind for a but as well. No problems adjusting his age and stuff now just need to change his relationship with the Mages Guild to the College of Winterhold or something .

I love skyrim lore so I'm definitely interested.

As for location diversity if you're restricting it I think you should give the freedom of an entire hold. Each hold has really diverse areas but is relatively close proximity and interactions are inevitable

So uh, nobodies posted in this for a few days and I'm still interested. Buuut I do also have a question if this is still a thing so this isn't just a thread bump. How will morality and our characters choices be handled in this? Like, will be be allowed to follow any path or will a certain amount of people need to be interested in that particular questline? I'm mainly thinking about the civil war and dawnguard questlines here because those two are pretty polarizing; and any questlines you'll allow us to play on the other side to compared to regular Skyrim. Speaking of which...

How close to Skyrim are you planning to keep this? Like, I'm toying with the idea of turning the first kind of powerful mortal enemy we face (say, a bandit chief) into my characters vampire thrall, would that be acceptable or are we sticking to game mechanics and only tweaking them when necessary...branching from that, how many zombie minions could a necromancer have at once? The max of two in vanilla skyrim always irritated me when trying to play a necromancer.

Okay theres my extra questions+ bump done.

So this would be pretty cool. I usually don't do fandoms but I LOVE skyrim and I think its a broad enough of a setting that it allows a lot of creative freedom.

I agree that the attack of Helgen would be the best starting place. Its an event that would draw people from all over the realm and also gives everyone a great starting point.

Winterhold works for me - they could be meet up there and continue on the Helgen or meet up after they have all escaped from Helgen, or whatever.

I have a question or two - can we fabricate relationships between our character and existing NPCs? For example, could my character be a princess of one of the existing holds?
And additionally, are we limited to existing places in Skyrim or can we create our own?

I haven't done group RP in forever, and nothing really ever with a distinct GM - usually its all collaboration, so bear with me if I stumble through it at first.

I had abandoned this RP 2 days ago and had unsubscribed from the OP.

And now here I am casually scrolling through the Interest Check forum and I see an interest boost.

I'm rather slightly stunned.

Well... welcome back to the world of the living!

Seems like one of the main items still on the agenda is fleshing out skills. How would you guys feel about giving all skills a numeric value from, say, 0 to 25 - could be any number so long as it's easily divisible by 5, so that different levels can roughly correspond to novice, apprentice, etc. Would be pretty cut and dry for magic, but maybe something else would be needed for physical skills? Just a thought.

Wait a minute now!

*Record Scratches*

Who said anything about continued planning???

I'm sorry to inform you of this, but part of the reason I had thrown this into the metaphorical alleyway was because my desire for this had been ashed out due to lack of participants and interest. And a realization at the total lack of originality and the fact that this probably wouldn't survive past 20 IC posts.

People, I apologize, but my interest for this is dead, as is the Roleplay itself.
