If you google that. For shame.

Felt like describing a pointless story. A couple days ago, while driving around with my parents to a friend's place. My mom looked back and asked "Do you know what reconnaissance means?" and for some reason, I had a brain fart at that moment and immediately got the word 'Renaissance' stuck in my head, so it took me like 30 seconds to accurately tell them what it meant. Which was frankly embarrassing, because I knew it the first second. But I guess that's what it's like being put on the spot.

But even worse was apparently, her entire college class she teaches, didn't have a clue what the word was either. Had zero idea. I feel like humanity is slowly declining...(just kidding, I knew long before this.)

If you're reading this and didn't know what that word means, I won't judge you much. :D

So just so I didn't just waste 10 seconds of your life. Go ahead and tell me and everyone else if you had any similar experience of someone not knowing a word, that they really should of learned in their English classes.

I was watching the news last night here and they did a story on the words that each US state misspells the most in Google -- New York's word was 'beautiful'.

I died a little inside.

There's an entire generation that knows EXACTLY how to spell 'beautiful' for the exact same reason.

Yeah. I know someone called SleepingSilence, who should know that it's should HAVE not should of. Or, if you want to be really specific, should've, because it's a contraction between should and have.

Guy sounds like a prick.

I salute you fellow Grammar Nazi. Though I said word they didn't know. So you broke the rules. :P

Also, this meme I created is practically a national treasure, I think I love it more every time I see it. So thank you.

@Sherlock Holmes I think I found what you're referencing. This list is hilarious. (Also what the fuck, Connecticut, what do you do in your spare time???)

Random input:

I knew what recon meant. I had no idea it stood for reconnaissance. Until I played Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, and I think Vexen mentioned the word. I looked it up and was like ohhhhhhhhhhhhHHhhhHH

Damn English for being the uncomfortable bastard child of French, Latin, random peasant Germanic shit, and apparently "15% other languages" according to the internet, which I assume is the unknown baby daddy.

There's another place 'of' doesn't really belong.

When you ask a question like "how big of a car is it?", it's actually supposed to be "how big a car is it?". But the first one sounds right to our generation, while the second sounds right to older people. So at some point we randomly put an 'of' in there that doesn't give any meaning or serve any purpose. structurally it doesn't belong there either.

@Doivid Already had someone mention that. I just didn't edit it. Maybe I will just to save someone else the hassle. ;P

It's usually fairly easy to find someone making a mistake in writing. I'd bet pretty much everyone on the forum has at one point. Not capitalizing after a sentence for instance. ;P

Thankfully it's a spam post. I found it in places where people should be being much more careful about what they type. :3

I pronounced the word "Archive" like "R-chiv" for a while. Took a while to shake myself of that mistake.
