Oz released the vortex and raised his arm towards the sentry to project another shield. The bullets hit like rain droplets on still water, rippling but causing no serious effect. He raised his other hand up and twisted it through the air. "Again, sorry for this Luke." Oz politely apologized in advance.

It was like the world became upside down, the normal amount of gravity that held them in place by the world was reversed in a space around him. He dropped the shield he was using for the sentry as he flipped through the air and landed on the ceiling. Upon landing, he rushed at Jeff, swinging a nasty right hook at his mid-section as he advanced.

Jeff couldn't help but to feel dizzy as the gravity shifted to make the ceiling feel right side up and thus giving the chance for Oz to now rush at him at an alarming rate. The inventor had to act quickly, deactivating the magnetic pull that both his shoes and the gauntlet were giving off and now was being pushed nearly to desperation. Jeff called upon his sage mode causing his eyes and hair to light up a bright blue as he used the boost in wind strength and speed to push himself back away from the charging Oz. He then took aim with his other gauntlet and let the air inside it compress further before shooting out a large burst of highly compressed air at Oz attempting to use the force of it to knock him away and against the wall on the other side of the room.
"SAGE BOOSTED! ULTIMATE WIND CANNON!"

Jeff yelled as he hoped that the fact that Oz was now charging him would make the hit guaranteed and the the power behind it would be enough to effect Oz if not he would have to wait for the wind to recharge into the gauntlet once more before trying again.

Meanwhile the sentry which had went airborne, shifted back into nano form and flew towards Jeff to gather on his backpack once more.

Oz made no effort to dodge, rather he knelt down. He put his left hand up and projected a shield before him. With his other hand he conjured a rod of energy and drove it into ceiling. More or less he dug in and the wind blasted into him while he held his ground. Oz let the shield drop as he pulled the rod free and started advancing again. The rod grew in size, becoming a full fledged staff in his two hands. The man was smiling now.

"Come on, Jeff. You can give me more than that! You think Rajaka will be defeated by being blown over by wind? You need to go through him, not just push him! Think bigger!" Oz said. He ran straight at Jeff, making no deviations in his path. His staff was at the ready. There was something odd about the staff, it seemed to be in flux toward the middle and that may have been by design. Oz swung the staff in a wide arc at Jeff before spinning it around his shoulders. With his current stance he was ready to hit Jeff if he tried to dash over or around him.

"Tch, not like your leaving me much of a choice.", Jeff grunted as he closed his eyes for a moment to focus as all the nanos collected on Jeff's back flew out in front of him to take the form of a shield, though this shield was not like the one Jeff has used earlier to mess with Mikey. This was a special design Jeff has made to mimic a legendary magical shield that he once researched and was designed to deflect the strongest of attacks with aide of the two arcane layers which floated in front of the shield while glowing a bright blue just like Jeff's eyes and hair were doing.

While the shield itself was not as strong as the legendary counterpart it was based off of, Jeff felt that at the very least it would be enough to hold back Oz's attack, well at least long enough for Jeff to launch his counter attack. Not hesitating in the slightest, Jeff took a mysterious orb of sorts from his bag and placed it against the back of the shield the and then proceeded to jump above Oz with the shield following in front of him. As he then flew above Oz, Jeff then spun both hands rapidly and whipped up two whirlwinds in each of them and channeled them with a strong presence of arki which then make the circling wind sharper like the wind scythes from earlier, but more wild and dangerous. He then pushed both of his arms away from his body and the small compacted whirlwinds circled around the shield and threatened to slash at him violently from both sides.

"Wind Scythe Style! Twin Whirlwinds!"

Jeff then would land behind Oz and would boost away full speed to the other side of the arena in order to get some distance once more from Oz.

Oz didn't let him land on the other side. Regardless of his distance above him the staff stretched across its center giving it uncanny length. That must have been why it looked so strange compared to the rest of the weapon. He swung it wide over his head, arching over himself on the same trajectory Jeff was set to land.

The unusual staff exuded force, keeping the biting wind at bay while he swung it albeit a few slashes that managed to dash at his shield to little effect. To add to the combo he quickly spun it across his shoulders again and it rippled through the air around him before settling back into a two-handed grip. "What happens when your foe is unaffected by small attacks? You plan a better one. Should I spell it out? I won't go down unless you pierce my shield. Try getting in my guard, assuming you're as fast as Zelriane that is. Just make sure the hit lands because if it doesn't you'll be feeling it." Oz advised. "Zel had a hard time hitting me with projectiles too. Be thankful I rarely go all out. I don't like killing people."

Luke had trouble maintaining his... Midair balance, but didn't stop the fight. Not until Jeff was struck by the staff, anyways. "Stop, stop!" Luke called out, waving his hands frantically as he clung to the ceiling. "Fix the gravity, dammit!"

Jenso stood beside Luke and blinked. "Holy shit...am I drunk or something?!" Jenso cried out. "THE ENTIRE ROOM JUST SPUN AROUND!!" He screamed, trying to make sense of the situation.

Oz finally stop and eased the gravity back into its normal state. The two combatants floated back to the ground with relative safety. Oz's staff dissolved away and he walked over to Jeff and gave him a bro-hug. "You're fast I'll give you that. Good job there." He complimented. He turned back to Luke. "Sorry. I was just trying to even the scales a little. No harm meant.".

Luke landed gently on his feet and sighed loudly. "It's fine, it's fine," He wheezed, trying to catch his breath from the excitement of uh... Floating. "Now, Jenso, can you tell me what Jeff did wrong?" He asked Jenso, pointing at Jeff. "And likewise, what Oz did wrong?"

Jenso blinked as they landed on the ground. "Uh...Jeff lacked power?" Jenso responded to Luke. "And Oz...should have been more on the offensive..?" He muttered, unsure of his own answers.

Luke's expression changed to one of disappointment. "Ehm.. No, not really," He said, disheartened, "It's more complicated than that. Jeff!" Luke turned to Jeff first and pointed at him, "You learned that Oz's normal attacks could easily dispatch your ranged spheres. Based on the rate he was using them to engage you while not moving, one could easily discern that they were weak, meant to probe! Then, you used a slightly stronger attack, only to noticed his barrier blocked it with no problems whatsoever. So that told you his defense was crazy strong. You ranged attacks were at a clear disadvantage. Oz had the initiative from the start!" Luke paused and looked at the ground. "When he did the vortex crap, it could be imagined that he was still testing your abilities, since he didn't attack directly afterwards. But you... You kept throwing attacks out like crazy, taking not even a moment while attempting to overwhelm him with your projectiles. You did this, even after confirming, your long range attacks were worthless... Here's the issue!" Luke rose his hand and index finger.

"You continued to enact the same strategy, despite confirming it was worthless! This is the equivalent to beating you head against a brick wall! Your attacks lack raw power, and Oz's defence is superior, so attempting to overwhelm him wasn't going to work!" He pointed at Oswald. "Then Oswald went on the attack! Why? Because you made it glaringly obvious that you couldn't hurt him or break his shield!" Luke waggled his finger. "Then, you attempted to break his shield with a large attack. I was expecting it to do more, but ultimately, it was only able to immobilise Oz for a small period of time, while immobilising you as well. Showing such a strong attack, confidently, only proved to him that you had no options to fight him with. At that point, you'd lost the initiative in knowledge, and damage, and without those, attitude was soon to follow!" Luke pointed to Oz.

"However, Oz, standing firm to take such a powerful attack was foolish of you. Although you know Jeff is physically weaker, what if you didn't? What if that large attack was hiding a more focused attack in its belly? You wouldn't have been able to dodge, your shield would have been compromised, and you'd lose the initiative in damage then and there! Possibly attitude as well." He pointed back to Jeff. "But once he confirmed that your ranged attacks were not a threat, Oz prepared himself for close combat immediately, summoning his staff. That made it even more difficult to approach him. However.." Luke raised his middle finger.

"You didn't change your strategy at all! In fact, it's almost as if you didn't have one! Oz may have made a crucial mistake, but his strategy was well thought out. He was reading you like a book, and you were turning the pages for him. Even after learning that your ranged attacks, the most powerful of which, had no effect on him, you threw tornadoes at mid-range. You kept doing so many things at once, not planning ahead, and feeding your opponent information with each attack. Oz did none of this, and maintained the initiative in knowledge by miles." He shook his head.

"Oz, do not overestimate your shields. They may not always be able to save you. Even if you knew Jeff's strength was lower than usual, there's no telling what he could have been hiding. Don't jump to the conclusion that your barrier is resolute. Find a way to test its durability against the enemy, without putting yourself behind it!" Luke smirked as he offered his advice. "A buddy of mine used to carry a shield, and small balls made of the same material. Weak stuff, but pretty smart. He'd throw the balls as if he were using them as a weapon, to see if the opponent could break them with their own weapons. If they could, he wouldn't even bother pulling his shield out." He nodded and smiled. "Think about it!"

"Jeff, you need to stop thinking so straight-forward. You don't have the power to fight like Jenso, or Alvios. You have the speed. Use that offensively, and defensively. Don't reveal too many techniques straight away. Don't use attacks of the same type, or maintain a strategy, if it isn't working. Change things up. And most importantly, don't ever get close to an opponent until you learn what they can do." He sighed. "You're fast, but not that fast." Your body can't move at Mach 1, and while you're midair, changing trajectory must take enough time for people to counter you. Unless of course.." He smiled and pointed up. "You approach without the intention to even attack in the first place." Luke grabbed his chin and smiled. "I had another friend who used to fist fight a lot. He was quick, too quick for even me to keep up with him. But he wasn't so fast that we couldn't hit him. He would trick us! He'd throw so many feints that it was damned near impossible to read his movements." Luke looked to Jenso for this was well. "But feints are hard to use. You can't feint, and follow it up with a counter every time. Sometimes it's better to feint and run, without even planning on attacking, to read an enemy. That's how you steal the initiative, find openings in their defences, and ultimately win the battle." He looked back to Jeff.

"Jeff, it might have seemed that you couldn't harm Oz, but you never attempted to simply use your ground-speed to flank his main shield, or use any melee attacks. Not only that, but your wind techniques seem weak and blunt. They're unfocused. Think of that Dacer kid's arrows, for one. They seem tiny, but just one of those things packs the same amount of destructive power as your Wind Cannon technique, on a smaller scale." Luke scratched his stubble and scoffed. "Mikey was telling me about his battle bubble before. It's designed to disperse damage along its entire surface. That would have made your wind-cannon useless as well, come to think of it. It might be hard to dodge, but to block? I think you need to focus more on smaller-scale techniques, things that move faster and are harder to dodge. Maybe even attacks that are hard to see. Not only that, but you need to ease up a bit. Stop being so aggressive. Fighting is not about who can hit harder and faster. It's about who can make the right play at the right time." He nodded and walked over to Jeff, placing a hand on his shoulder. "Use what you're good at. Stop trying to be what you're not," He said with a smile.

"Oh, those nano-bot things though, when they made that shield?" He nodded and smirked. "That was pretty cool."

Oz nodded in response. "I appreciate the criticism. I've tasted defeat before so I understand many of my limitations. To be frank I'm not a small dude so I don't care for sprinting around everywhere and diving away from everything. Sometimes it just isn't feasible. That wind cannon for instance. I can tap my power way faster than I could avoid something with that volume. Of course when my barrier meets its match.." He shrugged his shoulders at the notion. "I think survival instinct might burn me through some close calls if I really need it. A big guy can move pretty fast when his life is on the line." He pointed a thumb back toward Jeff. "Just don't expect me to move like frog man here. I'd probably lay down and die at that point." He chuckled.

As Jeff went to land, he braced himself for a blow from the staff using the wind to act as a slight padding along with having some spare nanos form into a small shield where the blow was to land on him. Oz might have been able to somehow move around the shield that was ment to act as cover for Jeff, but in doing so he left himself wide ass open as thr shield then changed form once more now becoming a cannon which was loaded with thr orb form earlier ready to blast him head on. "Gah, you might have gotten past my shield but thats where you have messed-" Jeff suddenly stopped as Luke the yelled for them to stop fighting, feeling rather annoyed to have been stopped before his real strategy could have taken place.
Flowing with the momentum brought on by being hit with the staff, Jeff went into a roll before bouncing back up and landing on his feet. The cannon instead of firing then simply reverted back into nanos and carried the orb back into Jeff's bag.
He then proceeded to listen to both Luke, Jenso, and Oz's spills on the fight low key getting more and more annoyed at the fact that the whole thing seemed to completely left him feeling underestimated especially by Oz whom at this point he was a tad irritated with. 'If only I had a second more I would have gotte. the templar bomb off on him and left him with only that staff to defend with. In which he would have been unable to do anything but try to dodge against my finisher' He thought to himself, doing his best to not outburt any of his thoughts due to not really feeling in the mood to have arguments with anyone. Jeff just simply nodded to Luke not saying much else while ignoring Oz outright entirely.

Luke shrugged. "Keep it in mind, Oz. If you're up against an order member, and you misuse a shield, that might be a major handicap for the rest of the fight, if it doesn't kill you outright," He urged, "Find a way to test 'em!" Luke gave Oswald a thumbs up and turned to Jeff. He frowned at Jeff's silence, but was glad that he seemed to acknowledge his advice. Jeff's annoyance made his inexperience in battle clear. Mikey had warned him about the inventor's arrogance. Luke expected an argument, or some kind of confrontation. If he wasn't standing up to his lessons, that had to mean he was growing. He just hoped that Jeff took his advice to heart. This was a team effort, and if the leader of the hero guild let his pride get the better of him, he wouldn't stand a chance against the order.

"I think that'll be all for today," Luke sighed, "We'll meet again tomorrow, in a different group. Mikey mentioned we should always be in groups of 3, though, so that two fighters can practice, and one can observe. That being said, Jenso!" Luke patted his son on the back, "Why don't you stay behind? Alvios and Bruce should be showing up next. Watching them spar might be good for you as well!" Luke guided Jeff and Oswald out of the room with encouraging words. 'good work out there, innovative techniques' whatever he could say to keep their spirits high. Hopefully this training wouldn't get the better of anyone. Hopefully..

~ Chapter 140 ~

Reflections

Luke was now alone with Jenso in the chamber as they waited for Bruce and Alvios to arrive. It'd be a little while longer though. They had some time to talk. Luke sat next to Jenso on the edge of the floating platform. "What do you think about Jeff and Oswald, Jenso?" Luke asked, peering at the room's exit impatiently.

Jenso cringed as Luke mentioned that he'd have to watch rather than actually doing any fighting himself. It was clear that he didn't quite enjoy simply watching, despite all the epic battles that he got to see. He turned to Luke. "They're both very strong...I wouldn't know any better allies to fight alongside with against the Order of Chaos. Just like Alvios and Bruce. I'm willing to die for their sakes." Jenso responded to his father, without a moment's hesitation. "I just hope I won't let them down..." He muttered in a sad tone, clenching his fists slightly.

"Oz relies too much on his barrier technique to keep him safe...he should learn to dodge more. He might not have much time to stand still and charge up any strong techniques when he fights the Order. And Jeff needs to rely more on using his wind powers to enhance his own body to do close ranged attacks with his wind...since his wind is made out of Ki, and your Ki is stronger if it's still attached to your body." Jenso responded. He couldn't help but smirk. "Thanks for encouraging me, heh.." Jenso muttered sarcastically, but it was more in a joking tone of voice.

"Feh," Luke grunted, "Aint no encouragement that can make up for a good teacher. You gotta be tough." Luke paused and bent his body forwards. "Teachin' these kids about Feints and strategy 'aint gonna be easy. Oz is too naive, and Jeff is too.. He's got too much pride," Luke grunted. "What about you?" Luke turned to look at Jenso with determination. "Do you know where you flaws lie? Physically and emotionally?"

Jenso looked at Luke and frowned. "I charge in too recklessly...that nutcase Geode, the very guy that possessed you and is somehow allowed to the wartable, lured me into a room where he could remove the Oxygen and due to that, my flame powers. If Oz hadn't been there, I would have died..." Jenso muttered. "My defensive techniques are also terrible..."
