Name: Magnolia 'Maggie' Delacroix (A.K.A. miss fortune)
Powers: minor reality bending and fate control via tarot cards.
Quirks: southern belle charm, gives off a mysterious vibe. Maggie is quite educated, and is adept at reading people.
Background: Maggie was born in Louisiana to her French-American father and half Haitian, half Puerto Rican mother. Her father worked off shore on an oil rig and didn't spend a lot of time with her. Maggie did however spend much of her time with her mother who worked as a librarian. Maggie grew up around books, and was fascinated by culture and mythology.
During her pre-teen years her mother would teach her a little but of various folk magick. She and her mother dabbled in Hoodoo, Santeria, and Wicca, performing mundane magick such as tea leaf reading, tarot cards, and bone casting. She would keep this up as a quiet hobby off and on throughout her life.
When Maggie was 14, her father died in a workplace accadent. Mrs. Delacroix, Maggie's mother collected a sizable life insurance claim and moved the two of them a couple of times. First to Alabama for a couple of years, and then for a year in South Carolina. They found it sort of hard battling prejudice in the south, as both of them were mixed women of color, they decided to spend what they had left settling in Discord City, Nevada. There they opened a book store, and Maggie finished high school.
Now 18, Maggie was accepted into DCU (Discord City University) one of the most prestigious public universities out west, and majored in sociology, minoring in anthropology. She picked back up her hobbie of magick and fortune reading, finding it very popular among the other college girls. But soon her aptitude for magic would take on a whole new level.
The terror group wayside deployed chemical weapons into her dorm, harming some of the girls, leaving some unharmed, and in some cases, changing them. At first, Maggie thought she escaped unscathed, but soon found just flipping certain tarot cards off the deck could effect her physical surroundings. After some practice, she can sometimes imprint her will with a card drawn to create a desired effect.
For example, she may draw the tower, and cause a steel door to rip from it's hinges. She may draw strength, and in her hands a loaded assault rifle appears.
Interests: humanities studies, the occult, dancing and going out for drinks.
Personality: Maggie is a fun loving bubbly person. If you didn't know her, you might mistake her for being dumb, but it's playful facade. She is a very carring and loving person, and hates to see bad things happen to good people. She can usually be seen with some sort of flower in her hair, which she wairs pinned up in a typical classic southern fashion, and likes to wear bright colored blouses with jeans.
