@The Mighty Hero

I'll declare a few actions before posting IC:

Perception check on Gate and wall, I'll take 10. for 23 passive perception.
Also check to see if Gate is locked, using Cantrip: Thaumaturgy (I mean a gate is technically a door).
Then if that fails, Guidance x 3 on whoever we are decided to climb the wall etc.

@JBRam2002As much as I want to make the gate out of innocent maidens its wrought iron.

As for the DM knowing how sturdy something is, I do but some things are to be found out in game. My DM always would say to me "I dunno" and just grin. He found it made me more inventive and working around the stuff he came up with.

Gate is unlocked...I love doing that...I will throw that in from time to time. I once had players spend four hours in real life trying to figure out how to get in somewhere, I never specified the door was locked or unlocked, they just assumed. In this instance, the gate is closed but not locked.

Thought as much.
The Metagame is REAL.
I was also a kooky GM,
but I figured with Kethan's age and wisdom score,
he might just first try the gate's unlocked.

I reserve the IC Post to unlock the gate.
I'll have it up shortly.

You know mentioning everyone in your posts isn't necessary, right? Chances are we've all subscribed to this thread and are notified about new posts anyways.

You can still roll for stealth if you want. Any guards that might be on the other side will probably be too distracted by Thanath's entrance to notice the stealth characters sneaking by.

Don't worry, I thought it was funny~ I'm somewhat less uptight than my PC is. But hey, at least she's never unarmed; she can always take that pole outta her ass and beat someone with it.

@The Mighty Hero With Thieves' Tools, would I be able to roll something to jam the lock so that the gate would not be easily locked behind us once we enter?

You can roll but don't necessarily have to use thieves' tools to jam the lock. For that it would either need to be a sleight of hand check or strength. I'll let you roll whichever is more beneficial for you.

@The Mighty Hero I was hoping I could use Thieves' Tools to gain proficiency bonus, as I do not have PB with Sleight of Hand.

To be clear, not dropping out of the game. IC Arius is just calling BS on the current mission and he isn't walking into that estate.

@JBRam2002 your roll resulted in your thieves tool becoming damaged, it will either need to be repaired or replaced. I am working on a DM post that just describes the surroundings. Once inside the actual manor it is possible to uncover what is really going on.

Out of curiosity, how does a set of several lockpicks get damaged? Could I not simply use another pick?

Here are the contents of Thieves' Tools. Which part of the kit is broken? My intent was to jam a single pick into the lock and break that, knowing I would have plenty of spares.

@JBRam2002 To clarify, the pick you used is broken and can either be repaired or replaced. The entire set is not unless you somehow used all of them at once. I was unsure which tool you used so named the set but should have been more clear in the direction that it had broken.
