Katya

Entering the room, Katya wasted no time raising her weapon pointed at the modified Logic Gate. Even if Katya didn’t want to harm Elora, Katya could not risk being caught off guard. It was evident the Cruxi had been busy in doing something to Elora. She could not take the risk even if Katya was still unsure if it became needed she could command her werk fire Marker Light. Katya hopped Elora would not attack them. Still, in case, she did, and Katya found herself unable to fire. She deployed her attack drones. Knowing if something happened they would engage without mercy.

It was then she heard Elora voice in her mind. Something Katya found unsettling. Part of her said it wasn’t right to hear Elora voice in her head. Too much it worse hearing Elora to run only enhanced that feeling. It forming a knot in her stomach. Her sync rate dropping slightly as Elora spoke and she grew more conflicted. Katya deploying her three remaining combat drones as the speaker like things on the wall came to life and from them a voice Katya would never forget spoke. Even if it was badly distorted, she could understand it. The electronic voice giving her a sense of impending dread causing the knot in her stomach to grow more preannounced. As the voice spoke the drones leaping to the ground from Caretakers drone bay hitting the ground. Before moving, to form a firing line aimed at Logic gate.

It was then a Cruxi Elite appeared, Katya quick to recognise it as the Cruxi that first snatched Elora away. Anger mixing with a feeling of dread as part of her wanted to bring everything Caretaker had to bare on that accursed Cruxi. But before Katya could swing Caretaker around or command her drones to engage. Katya saw the modified Logic Gate start to shake intensely and flailing its arms. What came next was something Katya had never experienced. The young woman's hand move to cover her ears out of some futile attempt to stop the mental scream. Katya’s overwhelmed by the attack. Failed to notice the alarm starting to blare in her cockpit one signalled her sync rate had dropped to critical levels.

Katya paralysed unable to do anything. The sensory overload too much for her minus writhing in her chair trying to merely endure the attack. Katya unaware what was going on around her. Minus for hearing Serah’s scream get added into the mix over the comms. Unaware that Serah’s sync rate had fallen low enough to put that Atty went into Culling. Her only sign something was wrong was when her cockpit rocked as Atty’s attack connected with Caretaker. Damaging the werk and knocking it off balance. Without Katya manning the controls the rear heavy werk feel backwards. Katya still overwhelmed by the psionic attack.

The moment Attay’s attack connected with Caretaker the drone control node shut down it’s user interface. The control panel Katya used to control her drones going dark. The HUD space dedicated to the drones showing new commands being issued along with clicking sounds of the drone control node. The Edens being activated and deployed to repair the damage done by Atty’s attack.
Katya hearing the clicks forced herself to look at her part of HUD for drones. Able to make out the what was causing her control nodded to click.
MAIN SYSTEM: PESREVATION MODE: ROUGE ALLIED AA-XOTRY TARGETED: 3 ARTEMIS ATTACK DRONES ACTIVE. TARGETING … STANDBY … DRONES ENGAGING. EDEN DRONES DEPLOYING RUNNING REPAIR SUBROUTINE BETA 3 …
Katya unable to understand the rest of the data the HUD displayed. The pilot for the moment unable to think of the reason why her drones would start acting out on their own. Once again overwhelmed by the pyoinc attack.

The moment the Artemis were giving orders to target Atty they did so. Moving quickly as they could the repositioned. Following the werk as it moved to the side of the room taking a defensive position. The drones following the orders of the control mode engaged Atty with volley of laser cannon fire. Having engaged Atty the drones would not stop until the werk was no longer a deemed a threat to Caretaker or Katya’s sync rate improved and Katya ordered the drones to stop.

Ariin felt a tinge of pain as his shield shattered and crystals buried alongside poor Paladin's body, damn near part of his body was marked with the things. "Critical systems are intact but we have a problem. I've got to much weight on the joints. Moving them might drive crystals deeper and break something critical." He spoke to the entire team on an open comm's channel. He sighed and turned on maneuvering thrusters, working to gain a targeting angle without being able to move the joints he pushed Pompey on target. Doing locking the arm in that position. "Firing on Sniper in A3!" He yelled into comms, firing a burst of twin shots that should slam home easily. Of course stuck like this volley fire couldn't be used to fire on targets the kick would be to strong.

He moved his shield arm slowly trying to dislodge the crystals from around him canon. "Gonna try remove the crystals so I can get back into the fight. Mind watching my back?" He asked anyone and everyone over the comms, he'd been the target for awhile now he hoped someone else wouldn't mind distracting the enemy from shooting him again while he focused on trying to keep himself in the fight.

Ranius deftly barrel-rolled and twirled past the barrage of plasma the Cruxi sent in the way of Devors, the veteran pilot clearly showing off to Elise as she saw the action from further away. When he released the bomb with a skilled turn of the Framewerk, it flew through the void with great speed. Due to the lack of atmospheric resistance, the bomb reached the middle of the oblivious CWMS before it blew up, the napalm spreading like a sphere and catching the three machines in it. The liquid combined with the hot plasma generators on their arm cannons and combusted, causing them to explode from the strong reaction.

Elise saw everything, and blushed in awe at seeing Devors destroy an entire unit without breaking a sweat, only to pout when she heard his gloating over the comms. "Good job Ranius, but stay focused, as we ain't done yet." Prometheus held out an open hand, it scraped lightly on Ranius's wing as it flew past the Frame; to an outsider it seemed pointless, but the two knew it was a ritual of hers to swap out, like a slap at a relay race. The Frame charged into the midst of the burning wreckage, her orange fire glowing past the green fires like a beacon in the darkness. "HIIAAAHHH!" She screamed, and with her attacks took down another unit as well as the lone straggler, 4 kills in total. However, the constant high-yield energy attacks had her sweating profusely, her breathing heavy as the system took it's toll on her vitality and health.

She heard Zim and Jason request status updates, and nodded to the pilots out of reflex. "Acknowledged. Check-OW!" She screamed upon hearing the absolute aural torture that happened upon them, and immediately shut off the channel that connected to the infiltrators. "They are in deep shit! We gotta get rid of these defenses and head in to help them ASAP!" Elise's breath grew harder as she had to make a decision on the fly. "Alright, you're approved to begin charging once the crystal cracker's down, but hold it until I give the signal to fire; I can trust Katya and the rest to make it back, I just know it! Meanwhile, you guys continue kicking Cruxi ass!"

Sigma piped in: "Relocating." Eiswolf then dashed to D10, reloading her weapon and sending the spent shell launching into the void. Despite her confident tone, Elise shivered in her place from fear; she had witnessed crazy, insane stuff from the Cruxi across her battles, but never anything like she heard inside the station; it was like the scream tore at her very connection to her Framewerk, as she noticed the heavy dip in Synchro status, slowly returning to normal. She knew time was running out and they might need to resort to destroying the entire space station, but she hoped that they would make out before it happened.

Zim's words seemed to echo in Black Star, and the machine clanked deep inside; he felt the same feeling as in Leviticus, back when he spoke to the machine. But at this point, the pilot was sure it was not caused by high stress. Even though his Synchro was not as high, he could feel the clank in him as well, but only faintly.
Black Star rushed through the tapestry of distant stars with blaring motors, scythe held to the side as the machine began to spin around.

Zim could feel the intense g-forces pull on his body the spinning grew intense, him unable to stop due to something urging him to move faster and faster inside, making him sick as his stomach acids rose to his mouth, but he held on. His experience carried him through with the maneuver as like a buzz-saw of death he ripped through the CWMs, their retaliating shots glancing off the spinning Frame uselessly. By the end of it, the enemy squad was all torn asunder, and Zim vomited on his controls, his Synchro dropping by 10%; it was an effective maneuver, but with a cost to his personal well-being.

Roger took advantage of the distraction provided by Zim, and steered Yeager right past the destruction with the kind of finesse only close bonds forged in the fires of battle could give. Yeager then let loose with his machine gun, and let the infinite-propulsion bullets turn another CWM to swiss cheese, causing it to activate it's self-destruct mechanism and blow up. The remaining CWM shot back at Yeager, but was intercepted by Black Star; the damage was taken on the Frame's leg, causing it to turn charred and malfunction.

Paladin switched targets from the crystal congregation to the distant sniper with a strained turn, the embedded heavy crystals causing metal around them to creak, until the cannon was turned and fired. The shot missed the target, but it caused the sniper to flee, dashing backwards into the safety of the space stations's battlements.
Then the Frame went to work on removing the shards impaling it, pulling them out one by one like a proud, unrelenting knight would remove arrows from his flesh. As a result, he had removed half of the shards stuck in him, increasing his mobility considerably from the almost immobile state it was in before.

Krista and Jason joined forces despite their encumbered states, and delivered high-intensity cannon shots at the mini-mist through strained steering and hard-grit teeth. However, the effort did not bear fruit, as it was surrounded by crystals, and the large shards intercepted the shots, causing two shards to be broken.
In return, the mini-mist shot out one of the two shards remaining at Hou-Yi; it ripped straight through Krista's cannon destroying it, and sent the entire Framewerk spinning out of control in space, causing her to feel sick in her stomach as well, her Synchro dropping by 15%.

Jake contacted NOAH, and Ritsu's voice could be heard amidst the garbled sounds. "Base here, what is happening down there! Our readings are showing zero to negative values! Pull out of there immediately!" However, before she could continue, Jake noticed that one of the Cruxi mechs charged, attempting to close the distance to him, but Weisritter was in position and easily shot the mech down, having been prepared. The remianing CWMS continued their blindfire around the corner, keeping Jake still.

In the round chamber, the situation got out of hand at an alarming rate. The Cruxi Ace seemed to enjoy the results of Elora's psychic attack, as the loudspeakers broadcasted the terrible voices again, but with a tone of glee, resembling laughter. Serah was the one who took the most damage to her mind; AA-XOTRY's display showed a big CULLING message in red, and the young girl lost control over her Framewerk as the Synchronization levels dropped, revealing a dark, horrible truth about the Framewerks to light; they were not mere machines to be driven around, but beings with their own wills. And Atty was one being that showed nothing but pure, condensed rage. It's insides groaned and ground, sounding like a guttural roar as it brought its arms to bear, and attacked both ally and enemy in it's blind fury.

The slash directed at the Elite Cruxi proved surprisingly effective, as the mech only barely managed to block the attack with the blade floating beside it, floating backwards from the impact as the blade was charred black from the intense energy of the attack. The other attack caused Caretaker to trip from the impact, causing it to fall backwards. The attack drones launched prior to the beginning of the troubled situation then assumed firing modes on autopilot, firing on the source of the attack on Caretaker; Atty. The combined firepower of the drones was enough to cause Atty's remaining barrier to be destroyed, and for the Frame's armor to be breached. As a result, it stumbled and hit the wall violently, causing electricity to crackle from exposed machinery.

But the situation wasn't completely hopeless, as Mai had prepared for something no other member on squad Sigma could have; a tactic of psionic quality. While still having sensible control over the Frame, Neo Angel made a quickdraw, and shot the Cruxi Ace with with its Magnums, still reeling from the blocked energy attack. The attack didn't seem to be effective at first, as the first shot was blocked by an invisible force, but the second one pierced through the protectivbe energy field surrounding the mech, causing the hexagon-segmented barrier to visibly break, sending the Cruxi Ace also slamming backwards into the door; Jake heard this, and now knew that there was a battle going on.

Then, Mai made a hard choice, and charged straight the modified Logic Gate with it's engines fully activated. Logic Gate responded by extending it's arms to intercept the charging Framewerk, but the arms could not hold against the sheer mass, and they broke apart as the egg-shaped Frame was rammed hard against the wall, causing it to also break and reveal more broken circuitry spewing a small pool of fire into the floor; deadly for a human, but a mere ember for their size.

Elora's screaming stopped from the impact, and the infiltration squad instead heard a low groan of pain from Elora in their minds, followed by crying; the young pilot didn't seem to understand what happened to her, and the mental shock was enough to send her into a catatonic state. The psychic attack stopped there; Katya and Mai saw how their Synchronization levels would return back, and it rose by 30% for the both of them. The Cruxi Ace took an offensive pose with it's sword, and threw it straight through Neo Angel, impaling both the Framewerk as well as Logic Gate. Mai read that Angel had sustained major damage and was stuck to the partially broken wall, bound to Logic Gate that seemed to turn limp and unresponsive. At that moment, Mai, and only Mai, heard Elora's voice in her. Unlike the other times, she now spoke with a deep sense of sorrow and grief, almost whispering. In her mind's eye she could see Elora standing before her, reaching a hand out to her. "Mai...I...Understand your pain...I have also been put through that hell...To be programmed into nothing but a soldier, a weapon...Please, listen to me...Don't let it control you...Don't be a part of Seven...Let Seven be a part of you..."

Spinning faster and faster Zim had more or less lost control of the unit, and soon found that he had lost control of his stomach. Somehow, through the sheer speed of the spin, Black Star deflected a direct plasma attack and still managed to take out the pod of CWM. Zim had pushed his luck too far, he knew this now as he was forced to remove his plug suit helmet due to the bile that lined the inside of the helmet. Chunks of the vile fluid floated about in the cockpit as Zim dug around for the emergency replacement helmet. It wasn't a hard helmet, it offered no protection except against the vacuum of space. But as he clipped it into place he felt the impact of another Plasma Round and his caused the frame to spin, through that extra motion the helmet continued to drift free in the zero gravity cavity, emptying more of its contents into the area. Zim saw as Jaeger put the attacker to rest as his eyes darted over the screens looking for the status indicators. The leg was damaged, it probably wouldn't do much more than support his weight. He would need to rely entirely on the thrusters to get around inside the station. He also noticed his sync rate had fallen. Actually, Zim had felt it before he saw the number had changed, seeing it go from 74 to 64 was a little alarming but he still had it under control, but now Zim was starting to feel the weight of the extra equipment.

Zim couldn't help but doubt his beliefs though. He honestly believed that these machines, these Werks, were simply that, giant machines with sophisticated A.I. However, there were those around him who would tell him that he was completely wrong, that they had deep and personal relationships with their machines. Even Zim himself had experienced things that he could not simply explain away towards the effect of it being a simple machine or not. But it was starting to seem more and more to Zim that these Werks are autonomous and capable of sentient thought and it is only through cooperation that we simple humans were able to pilot them. Surely, what happened to Ariin and Paladin is proof of that, but what happens when Ariin got to close? Paladin took over Ariins biological body. Just now, when the contents of his stumach empties out into his own helmet, was that because of the extreme stress of the combat manuvers Zim had been pulling off, or was it due to Black Star pushing him away? And if so Why? Was it to protect Zim, or was it to protect itself? Zim had little time to ponder these thoughts and revelations now, and forced himself to focus on the task at hand. But one thing was for sure now, for Zim, Black Star was more than just a tool and was a proper partner.

Zim took only the slightest pause to collect himself before pushing on. "Jaeger, I'll leave that last one to you. I'm joining the center column. Hou-Yi, I'm on my way to assist." Zim reported before spiraling away towards F9. As he traveled he swapped out his Scythe for the sniper rifle from the assault pack and from there he changed the munition type over to the EMP round. They knew that the mist was immune to physical attacks, there was no debate there, and Zim also knew that the sniper rounds that he carried didn't have anywhere near enough of a punch to even scratch an intercepting crystal wall. What they didn't know, was whether or not the MIST would be affected by an EMP. Zim hoped to find out, but right now he needed to get Hou-Yi righted and to stop spinning. Zim remembered his first interaction with the Cruxi, the attack on the terraforming planet they were working on and the extremely good luck that he had survived on. The spinning will first put you into a panic, especially when you've lost all power and you have nothing to guide yourself with, even if you could manually control an atmosphere thruster to slow your spin, you have no point of context in which to point yourself. In this particular case, we were near a non-destroyed planet, so there was something. But it wasn't needed because she wasn't alone and soon Black Star was there to stop her from spinning. He reached out with his oversized left hand and carefully grabbed hold of a shoulder, his thrusters firing to match her rotation before slowing down to a stop with counter-rotation bursts.

"Status?" Zim asked Hou-Yi. He would stay with her for the moment as he waited for the EMP clip to charge. Besides, she may need him to push her out of the way of an incoming attack if her thrusters were completely shot.

Move: I8>F9. Swapping weapons to EMP loaded Omnirifle. Stabilizing Hou-Yi.

Devors whistled when he looked back on his camera feed, seeing Elise swiftly disposing of one too many Cruxi. The man wasted no time in turning around Ranius with almost dangerous speeds, flying back towards most of the action. As far as he could tell, the only real threat here was that miniature orb of whatever-the-heck that this squad called 'Mist'. While he would love to drop a nuclear warhead on it, Devors fears that may be a bit overkill and currently just not practical. After all, he was still extremely far away from the damn thing and it had those crystal shards still circling it.

"Eyy Elise, nice one but uh, can hear your breathin'. Ain't that much left, so take it easy for a sec alright? Oh, and you might want to step back a bit."

Devors' tone was still as confident as ever as he flew closer to the mist. Those shards scared him and getting hit by a blast from that thing would cook his goose, but the man had a plan. Not a master plan, as Devors is as far removed from a genius as he got, but a plan nonetheless.

"So I was talkin' about suicide missions earlier and I think to myself: Gosh darn I got a fast machine, don't I? Well, laddies and ladies, you're in luck! I'm gunna try and get that ass of a smoke ball off your backs, just make sure ya kill it before it actually hits me!"

The man wasn't sure whether the females in this squad even qualified as 'ladies', but the words were already out there. After relaying his intentions, Devors flipped a switch with his feet, because he could. Might have been because of all that drinking he did. Drinking totally makes you fly better, right? Or, well, at least it made you more brave. And stupid. Two qualities that Devors excelled in already. The man's little bird suddenly zoomed off, all thrusters engaged. At first he seemed to make a beeline for the MIST unit, but at soon as he got anywhere near close Ranius suddenly jerked off to another side, spinning in the air from the sudden shift in momentum even in the vacuum of space. Now all Devors hoped is that whatever shot the MIST had fired was aimed high up in the sky, missed him and was totally not aimed at Elise because things were going to suck for the both of them if it was.
Atty rocked violently as Caretaker's drones attacked it, briefly snapping Serah out of the prison of her own memory. The sensory overload caused by Elora's screams may have stopped but the girl wasn't freed from her binds just yet. The previous memories of her most traumatic experiences were replaced by another set, a different flashback. A flashback of times that might not have been the happiest, but... they weren't bad. Not with...

Her Synchro seemed to be going up a little as these memories came back to her, Atty picking itself up from the wall and stumbling a little. As soon as it seemed like Serah was about to calm down from the happy memories, her synchro suddenly plummeted again. She was reminded of how she first met Atty- which was a happy moment, of course. But what happened after broke her heart. She was forcibly dragged away from the orphanage, clearly able to see how Xane was desperately trying to struggle free from the caretakers to try and help Serah. How he screamed her name as she was thrown into a strange vehicle, taken away for military training. Her breathing became more rapid again as she desperately tried to cling onto the happy memories of Xane, unwilling to remind herself of how she was forced to leave him behind.

But then it happened.

The blood in Serah's veins stopped rushing and became ice cold. The noise of the battle and Atty's jerking into aciton didn't register to her at all. Her framewerk was still moving on its own, raising up the blade and slamming it downwards for a vertical slice at the drones before dashing off again, pushing on despite it's damaged body. The legs didn't function as well as they should, but the core and thrusters were still intact. It lined up it's blade towards Elora, aiming to go through her with it. Logic Gate had, after all, just been pushed out of the way thanks to Neo Angel.

Meanwhile, Serah was blankly staring at the red, flashing letters. She didn't even have the energy to cry anymore as those last few moment's of Xane's flashed before her eyes. To make it worse, Jason was the one leading that squad. If it hadn't been for her boyfriend, Xane would still be alive. She would have been able to see him again, play with him again. Serah reached out her hand in front of her in a trance-like state, trying to grab something that isn't there. It snapped her out of her predicament for long enough to register what is actually happening- Atty had not only kicked in without Serah's input, it had hurt her friends and was planning to hurt them even worse. Unfortunately, she didn't register Jason's voice coming in through the communications.

"Stop! N-No Atty, please, stop!"

Serah frantically screamed out to her machine, but it wouldn't listen. She tried to manually override the controls, but Atty wasn't listening to her at all- not that she had any control over herself. A strong wave of despair washed over the girl. First her parents died because they took her on a trip for her birthday. Then Xane died because of becoming a pilot like her. Now, her being unable to control Atty is going to make her squad die as well. She started to sob, stronger than ever before. Her voice was strained and soft as Serah buried her head inside of her arms and knees.

"I... I-I don't... want to lose everyone again...!"

Krista Reynolds

"Crap crap crap!" Krista tried in vain to stop the Hou-Yi's spinning. Micro-thrusters fired off uselessly, sometimes helping, a lot of times doing nothing. Hou-Yi moaned around her, the broken cannon swinging around. It banged hard on the edges of it's elevation and just made the already difficult task of stabilization harder.

After a few moments of spinning, it was all she could do to curl up and try not to vomit in the cockpit. She didn't need to look at the readouts to tell she had desynchronized with it. To someone that had been so attuned to every frame she'd piloted, every input felt sluggish. Like she was moving through oil. She would've had a hard time pulling out of this spin in a timely matter at the best of times.

"Hou-Yi, I'm on my way to assist."

Krista opened her eyes long enough to spot Zim incoming. "Roger that," she squeaked back. She waited patiently for him to come over, letting out a sigh of relief as her spinning slowed down. She shook out her head as she was able to sit up again, no longer plastered to her seat by g-forces. "Thanks for the help"

"Status?" Zim asked Hou-Yi.

Taking a deep breath, Krista looked through the readouts in front of her. "Not good. My cannon's completely non-functional, and I can barely turn it even then. My Priwen system hasn't been breached, thank God, but it's mounted to the Cannon's turret." She let out a deep sigh. "At least my thrusters are all good, but I'm not going to be much help in a fight right now. I'm going to pull back." She carefully disengaged from Zim, firing up her thrusters to get behind the line. She opened a line to Elise. "Sergeant Steinhart, this is Hou-Yi. Zim helped me pull out of my spin. My cannon is busted but my shield is still operational. I'm pulling back for now."

A lot of things were happening at once and Roger was barely able to keep what was in front of him sorted out as it was. However, he got the general sense that they were indeed winning, despite the heavy amount of damage that had been sustained so far. Well sustained by everyone but himself, which he hoped to keep that way. Yeah, there might be some fringe guilt and you might look like an asshole being the one guy to emerge from a fight unscathed, but the benefit of not having to recover from wounds and not costing the military any more money than they were already doing by merely existing outweighed the drawbacks by quite the large margin.

That said, he was still thrown off by how nonchalantly Zim was with zipping about the battlefield doing all sorts of crazy shit. It was a very real possibility that any one of his stunts could have ended with him a lump of molten slag left adrift in space, yet he kept on as if none of the damage his framewerk had taken up to this point slowed him down at all. Frankly, it was pretty fucking infuriating. Not only that, he pirouetted in and didn't even bother to stick around long enough to see that all immediate threats were disposed of.

"Argh, fuck it!" Roger pulled out a spare cigarette and shoved it in his mouth, smashing the filtered end to the point of unusability. It was more a point of oral fixation rather than any attempt to use drugs to modify his state of mind. Adding more stimulants would only make things worse. Sure Zim might be the best pilot the crew's got, but if anybody had the most experience performing suicidally stupid moves, it was Rooney and goddammit he was going to put it to fucking use.

He started by charging ahead full throttle towards the last CWM standing between him and the rear guard of the cruxi forces. But rather than ram into as he might have during the past two battles he had been in, he cut off the boost as he neared the soldier and allowed momentum to carry the machine the rest of the way to point-blank range. This was a rapid approach, not a crash. From here, the plan was to shove the barrel of Yeager's machinegun into torso/cockpit/core/whatever of the CWM and figuratively pump its guts full of lead. How to proceed from there was an issue that could be resolved later.

Jason "Phoenix" Diabolus | Squad Sigma Pilot

Jason's blood ran cold when he heard the sergeant's reply to their request on the status of the infiltration team. She said they were in deep shit, and the boy barely knew what that meant. All he knew is that Serah was likely in danger, and dammit he was not losing anybody else. Not again. He needed to get inside, but first, his gaze zeroed in on the mist before him. That little bastard had more than annoyed him plenty at this point. Settling into a silent state, the boy decided to focus first on this new enemy. He loaded another shot into the railgun, once more explosive and aiming for the mist's core. However, he let this one charge as he brought the ATS system to bear on the crystal shard. "Alright, Ribasu. Let's track that crystal. Fire when we have an opening." He said, as he triggered the system to do exactly that. Already the boy was planning his next moves, once the mist was down he would remove the shards, then focus his shields to the front of his unit. After that, board that station and blow every Cruxi bastard between him and the infiltration team to hell. Simple. He just had to worry about not getting overrun, but that wasn't an option to him right now. If Serah was in danger... he had to help her. He couldn't lose her, not after losing everybody else he ever cared about.

God dammit, why couldn't there be a charge and firing solution sooner? The boy grew more frustrated as he sat there, anxious to get in there and help his girlfriend. Worrying for his safety, Jason bit his lip as he debated something for a few moments. "Fuck it." He said to himself, leaning forward and opening up a direct channel to Serah. He would wait silently for a few moments before speaking quickly. "Serah, I don't know if you're hearing this, I'll keep it short. Sarge says you're in trouble, just... say something to let me know you're alright. I'll leave the line open." He said quickly, then muted his end. Hopefully, she would hear, and tell him she was alright. At that moment, he heard a slight chime as ATS found a possible firing solution, and the railgun met the medium charge he had set it for. "Let's hope this hurts, eh Ribasu?" He said quickly, then fired the shot. A bright flash, followed by a vicious rumble through his frame was the only sign the weapon had fired. Seconds later Jason saw a streak of light heading towards the mist, hopefully, to detonate from the center of the weapon. Meanwhile, he would slowly set to work at removing the shards, hoping they hadn't hit anything important. At that point, Jason heard Serah's voice, not talking to him but worrying about losing everybody again. He swore, before opening comms to the sergeant again. "Sarge! Something's up with infiltration team." He said before opening a private channel with the sergeant instead of broadcasting to the whole unit. "Serah's comms, I can hear her asking her frame to stop and saying she doesn't want to lose everybody again. We need to get in there now. The boy said as he continued to remove the crystals from his unit, and wondering why it was so slow.

TL:DR;

** Fired at Center of the Mist, using ATS (Targeting system thingy) to track the crystal shard and hopefully avoid it. Medium power explosive shot.

** Sent message to Serah, left line open. Waiting to hear back.

** Starting to remove shards.

The moment Atty’s armour was breached the Artemis drones ceased firing. Deeming Atty to longer be a threat to Caretaker. However they did not move, locked on to the rouge werk, they remained ready to continue their attack the moment Atty made a move to Caretaker. For the moment however it was deemed no longer a threat to Caretaker. Meanwhile, the Edens, under coordination of the control in together to repair the damage Attys attack had done. While Caretaker was still operational the armour on it right side was damaged. The armour had bore the brunt of the attack, and 2 Edens were attempting to patch the armour as best they could. While rest were working on the systems that had been damaged in Atty’s attack and the subsequent fall. The frames locomotors had taken damage from the fall given how Caretaker had landed. The upper right arm although protected by armour had taken some moderate damage.

With scream finally over, Katya breath a heavy sigh of relief. Her hands moving away from her ears. For the first moment, nothing registered with Katya as she needed a moment to recover and adjust to the pain she was now feeling. Katya feeling like someone had put her brain in a vice and was squeezing tightly. She hoped that it was something she would have to experience again. Still, Katya found herself distracted from the pain in her head, at the sound of Elora crying in her head. It was an unpleasant, but one that gave her focus, Katya desire to protect Elora and bring her home. She reached out for her control. Grasping them with whatever strength she could muster. Commanding the werk back onto its feet. Katya hearing the werk groan as it picked itself up. Katya finding her controls stiff, having to apply a fair amount of force to get werk to do as she wanted.
“This is not the time to be stubborn Caretaker.” she muttered looking at the scene before her. She could see her drones ready to engage Atty. Who seemed to picking itself up. Logic Gate and Neo Angel impaled and pinned to a wall. Instinctively Katya ordered her Edens to Neo Angel, although only 4 drones responded leaping from the werk and starting to make the trek across the room to the damaged werks. The other two not responding to her commands at all and continued to work on Caretaker.

While ordering her Eden’s Katya kept one eye on Atty. Katya not trusting Serah to attack her again. Using what brain power she could muster to think of reason why Serah would attack an allied unit. To her it didn’t making any sense and was sure she was missing something. From what she knew of Serah she wasn’t a traitor. As Katya thought she watched Atty took a swing at drones land a hit on the armour of one of them. It causing some damage but the drone thanks to it heavy armour endured the attack and back off with other. Sparks coming out of the new slice mark in the armour. The Drones status updating to show it’s sensors had taken some minor damage. Katya and the drones moved to keep on Atty as it dashed off.

“Serah what are you doing! We are not the enemy!” Katya shouted as loud as could. Whatever was going on Katya knew it had to stop. For several reasons. Mostly as Serah couldn’t be allowed to go on a rampage in the middle of a Cruxi stronghold. Nor could she be allowed to harm Elora. Also not that she’d ever admit it. Katya was angry at Serah, for damaging Caretaker and now one of her drones. It was that anger that Katya order her werk forward. Watching as Atty lined its blade of with Logic Gate. Katya activating Caretakers thrusters with the intent of getting hold of Atty. Katya pushing Caretaker to move as quickly as the werk could manage. Katya aware that she could easily mess this manoeuvre up and end up damaging her own werk or getting attacked. She just wanted Serah to stop, and to Katya at the moment this seemed like the most efficient way. Short of crippling Atty with her drones, which was something Katya didn’t want to do.

Mai, from her mind world of sorts, looked and actually SAW Elora in her mind of all things.

"...how'd you get...nevermind. It doesn't work that way. I need Seven just as much as she needs me. She's the whole reason I'm able to keep going...to fight...to destory...to live..."

That's when another "Mai" appeared next to her. Except, this one's expression looked neutral. Uncaring. Perhaps indifferent.

"...Mai...she's right you know...we've talked. Even I admitted that I can't hold your hand forever...though it is strange for me to admit that...but...that one moment...when I said "thank you" to Serah...that was the first time I've...been grateful..."

In her own mind, Mai looked shocked at her other half.

"Is it strange though?...to destory...to kill. To constantly make that tough choice no one else dares to make? Elora...you must understand. I only exist for Mai on that regard...we've...no, "I" made Mai do some things she couldn't...you weren't exactly the "first" to be thrown in our path against their own will..."

Both "Seven" and Mai look away from Elora at that statement...

"...brainwashed...doomsayers...it wasn't just Cruxi we've...killed...", Mai said slowly.

Elora's eyes closed, and she clutched her hands together. "Mai, we all carry our burdens with us; regrets, grief, sorrow...pain..." Then, the two sides of Mai found themselves in a desolate, scarred battlefield, with a burning sky and mountains of corpses, both human and Cruxi. The two saw Elora standing with her back to them; her suit was tattered and bloodied.

"Nobody wants to feel these things, nobody wants to suffer." She turned, and while her face was scarred, she still kept a gentle smile. "But running away is not the answer. That is why Seven exists; because you believe only someone heartless and incapable of feeling can bear those sins. That is why you created her to be your scapegoat."

She slowly walked, and behind her Framewerks clashed and fell into the rubble, their smoking parts scattering around. However, not a single piece hit her path. "But that is not the right way; you can't hide behind Seven. Don't let your heart be shattered." Then, the pieces that hit the ground transformed into patches of pretty yellow flowers, and slowly the war-torn world changed into a beautiful flower field, with a clear blue sky. "Mai, I know how hard it can be to not be afraid, to give up and to cower, but I know that you can overcome your inner fears." Once she was before the two, she took each of their hands; they felt how warm and radiant her touch was, and her outfit changed into a white dress. "You can be yourself, with no burdens weighing you down. You can be whole again, Mai, but only if you accept Seven as a part of who you are."

"...I'm still scared...but at the same time, I'm also tired...to a point where I...got mad...that Cruxi...that same Cruxi that tortured you Elora...it...it...mom..."

"...like Neo Angel said...I know you fear it...emotions...attachments...to people and even things...because you fear "loss"...or worse, loss of self control...regrets...but Mai. I have no regrets. Yes, it's a sad fate for me specifically but look at it this way...I'm not leaving you...just saying "Hello" all over again...only now, were trying to organize the mess in here", "Seven" said.

Seven then looked at Elora while still holding her hand in the mind's eye.

"...I'm sorry that I tried to hurt you...I always felt that the mission counted but what's the mission if there's nothing left? As the old saying goes, "To the victor go the spoils"...so Mai...let's help her...because even I'm tired...of killing..."

Mai then looked at her other half. She took a long look at "herself" in a way...then nodded.

"...Elora...don't fade on us...yeah, I'm mad at that Cruxi for what it did to you and even mom but it won't stop me...I won't run away...not in body nor in my mind...never again."

Mai then looked at Seven and the both of them nodded to each other then looked at Elora.

"...thank you Elora", both said at the same time.

Elora closed her eyes, and smiled. "Now, let's begin. Take each other's hands, and then embrace yourself. Let what was once two...become one again." When Mai and Seven held each other's hands and gradually became closer to each other, Elora's form began to turn transparent. "As long as you believe in hope, you can do anything, Mai. Goodbye..."

Then, as the two sides collided, they turned into pure energy. In that nuclear fusion, a new pilot was born; one who would shine brighter than before with a boost to 100% Synchronization and with both the memories of Mai and Seven, their souls of steel together as one.

* * * * * * * * * *

Meanwhile, Jake was still holding down the corridor with sniper fire as best he could. He already had burned out an energy clip with the current one loaded being his last and was down to his last bullet clip.

Responding to Ritsu, he said, "I'm pinned down by blind fire but still ok! I don't know the status of the rest of the team! But judging from what I heard before I lost touch, they were most likely ambushed."

Jake then tried to raise anyone inside that room behind him again.

"Mai! Serah! Katya! Anyone! Status! Please respond!"

Ariin growled as he watched the shot miss the Cruxi as it scrambled away from it's post. "Fine you bastard, let's see who can drop the other first. May the better shot win." He grunted with most of the large or deeper penetrated crystals removed Paladin could move at least in normal capacity. Though it did feel strange not to have Legion anymore and still be unable to move faster. He readied the coils and gave off two volley's at the sniper, hoping to drop it before it took a shot at him or one of the others.

Otherwise he spoke into his comm's deciding it would be best to organize themselves for an advance once they had cleared the area. "Jason, Krista, once were clear let's advanced up let the other's organize up front while we can provide volley fire support." He spoke, knowing both had fire power but not the armor he did. Even without his shield Paladin could take punishment like no one else, it was called a fortress class for a reason. "Might not have a shield but I can take few hit's still so keep behind me when you can. If it get's bad Jason you can take over point duty." He spoke prepping his mech for a sweeping advance.

He then changed the line to a private call, speaking just to Jason. "Keep cool and stay focused. You want to get in there and we will. Right now, we need to maintain fire support and sweep up slowly. We've already taken hits and rushing full speed is gonna get us all shredded." Spoke Ariin to the man as he knew what it was like to want to save someone. "We will get them all out of here but we can't risk unnerving the others especially right now. We need everyone focused and believing we can beat this, moral is part of synchronization rating, that dips our ability to fight dips."

He focused his automated eye on the site of sniper trying to peer through the smoke and see if it was dead. "I promised Elora I'd keep her safe back when they put us all together... I couldn't stop them capturing her." He took a breath out and then took a deep breath in. "But we're getting Elora back and we're going to help Serah. So eyes forward, guns hot, keep your head on straight and we all go home alive." He added the last part to try remind him they were soldiers. "And if it comes to it I'll give my life to keep anyone here safe." He let Jason know he was not above giving his life for Serah or anyone else here.

Elise's teeth were drawn as she took aim at the Mist and began charging; she was horrified to see what happened to Krista, and thought that the next shot could be lethal. She couldn't afford to lose her squad again. Not even at the cost of her own well-being. But then, she heard

"Eyy Elise, nice one but uh, can hear your breathin'. Ain't that much left, so take it easy for a sec alright? Oh, and you might want to step back a bit."

"That's sergeant to you!" She shouted back, and she coughed; the constant screaming has put strain on her vocal chords. But, he did have a point; she was already pushing past her regular limits, and she couldn't lose consciousness during the mission. "...Fine. Acknowledged. Just don't get carried away."

"What did I say?" She groaned, and And had Prometheus follow after Devors. She then heard Krista chime in.

"Sergeant Steinhart, this is Hou-Yi. Zim helped me pull out of my spin. My cannon is busted but my shield is still operational. I'm pulling back for now."

She sighed in relief, and then responded: "Permission granted. The rest of you, make sure to avoid those shards at any cost! And Ranius, don't you-WAIT!" When Devors dove close to the Mist unit with the giant crystal shard rapidly spinning around it, the Mist seemed to react to it, and rapidly spun the shard straight towards Ranius. Devors managed to dodge at the last minute and it missed him. Instead, it came straight at Prometheus.
"HNNNNGHHH!" Elise gritted her teeth as she put a bubble of energy before the shard with Prometheu's arms extended, and it seemed to slow down for a single second as it hit the bubble, before it burst it, and impaled her through the torso. "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" She screamed loudly, the Prometheus having been bisected from the middle, the two pieces rapidly spinning separately from each other. Jason took his chance then, and fired the explosive shot, having it detonate right in the core of the miniature Mist. It exploded in spectacular fashion like the others, but he was too slow charging it up, and the damage was already done.

Roger charged straight at the remaining Cruxi War Machine. In a surprising move, the enemy mech extended long plasma blades from it's arms, as if they were expecting Yeager to charge straight into them. But, their prediction was wrong: the Framewerk stopped just short of impact, and unleashed a point-blank volley of machinegun fire, causing the CWM to spasm out. However, it was only then that Roger noticed the red light blinking from them, followed by the alien machine exploding, causing Yeager to be knocked back into the void of space, having lost an arm to the explosion, Synchro dropping by 10%.

Ariin attempted a distant shot once more, and failed again; whether it was the fact that the target was beyond the weapon's firing range, Ariin's inexperience, or the fact there were still crystals hindering him down, but the sniper unit continued to be safe. "I'll handle that, Paladin," the pilot then heard Sigma speak in the comms as he saw Eiswolf move past the giant Framewerk and shoot the unit down with impeccable aim. "All sniper units eliminated," she reported, and the Framewerk briefly turned towards Paladin, as if to convey an apology, before focusing on the battle at hand.

Jake shot down the last CWM at the end of the corridor, having managed to fulfill his duty as rearguard for the others. The Eden drones worked efficiently as they quickly repaired Caretaker back to prime condition and also managed to remove the Cruxi Elite's sword, freeing both Logic Gate and Neo Angel. The attack drones on the other hand were focused on Atty, but despite their efforts they couldn't stop the CULLING Framewerk from continuing its rampage.

Atty charged at Logic Gate, intending to slaughter the poor, crying pilot inside, but in a heroic moment was saved by Katya, who had Caretaker slam into Atty, knocking the Framewerk right against a wall, smashing it's free arm into pieces. The Cruxi Elite had managed to recover at this point, and was about to attack when it was distracted by the attack drones. In response, the Elite opened fire, destroying three of the drones with plasma cannons of unbelievable power.

Jason "Phoenix" Diabolus | Squad Sigma Pilot

Jason swore as he saw the sergeant get blasted in half. Ribasu simply hadn't been fast enough. As the mist went down, followed quickly by the last sniper and war machine, Jason took a breath to calm himself before taking in the situation. Seconds later he was opening communications to those outside the base. "Listen up, we need to get one of our faster units over to the sarge's unit. It might depressurize, or otherwise go critical and we don't want to lose anybody. If you've got a capture pod or something you can use, try that. Otherwise get her back towards friendlies as soon as you can and into a safe environment." He began, his tone calmer than it had been before as the boy resorted back to his training to lead a squad. While he wasn't in a position at the moment where he fell next in line for command, Jason knew that keeping direction after a blow like that was critical to mission success. "We've still got four Cruxi Towers online, and their barriers to get through. Our infiltration team is in deep, so we need to get in there as soon as we can. I'll take Ribasu in, and need a few volunteers. However, I'll need some of you to stay out here in case of a cruxi counter-attack. Paladin, engage the cruxi towers to the left, I'll fire on the right. Then focus fire on those barriers. Blackstar, see if you can soften it up for use with some ranged attacks if at all possible." He said, trying to keep focused on the battle ahead. "Yeager, get to the sarge. You've got a quick unit. Everybody else, you know your units better than me. Help where you think its best, but provide status updates. Ribasu out."

Having given out the orders and hoping that the others would go along with, as well that his orders were good enough to keep everybody alive, Jason let out a brief sigh. Moving his unit forward, the boy got another shot loaded up in Ribasu's moonbreaker. Using the ATS to track his target while moving, Jason fired the explosive shell just in front of, and between the two towers he had decided to fire upon. Once more, the shot surged across the empty void in record times, as if it were a shooting star falling to a planet's surface. The shot itself was at the very edge of what Jason could push Ribasu to do comfortably, with it being the max range on his railgun and moving as fast as he could with the damaged unit. As the unit came to a halt, Jason opened the messaging conversation with Serah and sent a single, brief, message. Hold on Serah, I'm coming.. He hoped it would reach her, and that his girlfriend was still in one piece.

TL:DR;

* Stepping up to hand out them orders with Sarge blown in two.
* Moved up to E7 (Max Movement)
* Fired explosive shot on H2 (Max Range)
* Messaged Serah

"Understood," Zim said in response to Jason's recommended actions, "I am on EMP rounds, so at best I am going to quiet them down for a moment. I don't want to waste any more time getting in and extracting the team, so I am not going to switch the rounds back over yet. I'll focus my fire on the turrets closest to the shields. Once we get a moment we will need to shut them up for good!"

With the EMP rounds now charged in their clip, Zim moved forward to attack. He had already experienced their rate of fire from a couple of turrets all at once previously and had a general idea of their range and capability. He knew that his energy barrier didn't stand half a chance against an assault from a few at once. Black Star maneuvered into position out in front of the turret on the right side of the doorway, hoping that by being directly in front of it, as he approached the edge of its targeting range he would only draw fire from one turret, instead of from three. He came in prepared for evasive maneuvers as he had planned on the incoming green plasma fire, spiraling around the projectiles Zim would get in only as close as he needed to and fire the EMP round at the turret, dancing back away from it once the round had been released, retreating back to safety.

Devors was sweating bullets as he maneuvered carefully around the battlefield, completely ignorant to Elise's previous orders. His brief gratification at narrowly avoiding a life-or-death shot was immediately replaced by a sense of dread as he heard the screams of the commander coming through the communications, his face twisting into an uncharacteristically serious and worried shape. Devors slowly and reluctantly turned his head to his camera feed as Ranius turned around, seeing Prometheus split in two and soaring across space.

"ELISE!" Devors yelled over the communications, frantic and desperate unlike how he usual acted. It was his fault she ended up in that state, but damnit he told her to take a step back! What was she doing following him around for?! Now he couldn't even feel good about that MIST bastard blowing up as he'd gotten his squad member hurt while doing so. Even worse, with the direction the shot came from, there's no way Ranius can speed over and tackle Prometheus' upper half to slow it down and save her! Devors slammed his fist down on his controls in frustration, sending a cute little leaf-skirted figurine on his dashboard tumbling down onto the floor.

"Son of a-! Someone, get to Elise! Make sure she's safe! And kid, if you want to bust down those turrets, I'll bust open the doors for you! I can't function inside, so I'll take care of Elise once you're all in!"

It was unlike Devors to start dishing out serious orders like these, but he had to chin up now that he caused this entire tragedy in the first place. The man circled around the middle, biding his time for when the turrets would be disabled so he could dash over and drop his entire arsenal of EMP bombs on those damn barriers, as he's not going to let the mission fail at this junction.
"Atty, calm do- GYAH!"

The feedback from Serah's plugsuit made the impact from Caretaker feel like she'd just been hit by a wrecking ball, the bendings of Atty's frail armor feeling like each of her bones being broken. She was soon slammed into and pinned against a wall. That wasn't the worst part, though. The worst part was the bone-shattering sensation she felt in her right arm, the arm that got smashed by the impact of the blast. It felt as if it twisted and contorted to unreasonable degrees, compressed and stabbed into by a million knives. The bones inside felt ready to burst out in a crimson explosion of gore, only held back because it was only her nerves that got assaulted. The pain was sharp and sudden, but replaced immediately by a burning sensation before becoming completely numb. Serah stared blankly in front of her for a few more seconds of consciousness, seeing Jason's message only briefly before her sight went dark, her tears finally stopping as she didn't have the strength to cry any more.

Atty had been trashing violently underneath Caretaker as this was all going on. Unfortunately, because of the weight of the machine pinning it and the loss of an arm, it was rendered rather helpless. It now regarded Caretaker as an extreme threat, however, and the plasma on its blade started to become unstable and violent. All it could do was taking care of the immediate threat, so the framewerk pulled their blade arm across the wall, the intense heat radiating from its blade slightly melting the metal that made up its armor. Right before it could stab, however, the frame suddenly stopped moving. The plasma wasn't held in place anymore and fell to the floor next to Atty as the sword arm lowered itself, hanging lazily next to the huge robot.

It took Roger a second to realize where he was. One moment he was facing a Cruxi, war machine, the next all there was to see were stars and the void of space. Luckily, he had more than just what Yeager could see of his surroundings to work off of and puzzled together where he was at in relation to the rest of the battlefield. It was when he tried to right himself that Rooney discovered he'd lost an arm and his synch had dropped substantially.

So much for remaining undamaged. And then there was screaming, and orders being barked from like 3 differently people. Wait, what did he miss? Oh shit, was that the Prometheus cut in half? It was around this time that his subconscious began to sort through the verbal commands he'd been issued. Yeager, get to the sarge. Someone, get to Elise! That was him. Oh shit, he needed to go make sure that the leader of the squad didn't die. Again. He realigned Yeager and boosted towards Elise. This was an emergency situation, but given his piloting skills and currently lowered synch capabilities, he wouldn't try anything fancy. Just get to the wreckage of the Prometheus as quickly as possible.

"Sergeant, are you still alive? Can you read me," he asked over the comms. Chances were he wouldn't get a reply, but it wouldn't hurt to check before doing anything rash. Even if she did, he wasn't too sure what exactly to do now that he was within arm's reach. Yeah Yeager was fast, but it wasn't exceptionally strong or dextrous, if he needed to manually extract Elise from the frame, he wasn't sure if he'd be capable of doing such, let alone with only one hand available.

For Jake, it was a long silence. He tried yet again his comm lines to his team but there was no response.

With Ritsu demanding a report, he gave the best response before but now, he needed answers. Even if it mean't he had to bust down the door that had sealed the room.

But he doubt whatever ammo he has remaining will work. From the last 8 shot bullets he had to the last laser shot clip. He even bet that door was heavily reinforced to make sure to keep others out. This was the Cruxi after all. There were a few that planned ahead like this as he read in some official reports over his career as a recon expert.

He had to do SOMETHING though.

"...Anyone...please respond...", Jake said slowly.

To his surprise, he heard a somewhat familiar voice though it sounded different based on his hearing perception.

"White Knight...this is Neo Angel."

"Thank god! Mai, what the hell's happening in there?!", Jake asked in a firm tone of voice.

"Nothing good. This whole thing was a set up. They...rigged both Elora and her framework, Logic Gate with their technology and turned both her and her machine against us. Our very minds were attacked by the Cruxi Elite in here", came the response.

"...sit rep then. How...bad is it?", Jake asked slowly.

He then heard Mai grunt and assumed she was trying to stand up based on that one grunt.

"...Serah took it the worst...her framework, if I'm not mistaken, went "CULLING" or beserk on everything in here though it stopped currently."

"...jesus...", Jake said.

"...Katya is down but ok. Neo Angel got ran through but I'm still standing...and...Elora...I think...she's K.I.A..."

That made Jake's heart sink. Yet another victim of the Cruxi used as a weapon then discarded. Even he had read some classified reports on this garbage they pulled.

But it was all the emotion that he was getting from Mai that also brought him back to attention.

"...Jake...you have to get word out to retreat. This whole thing was a setup. You have to cut losses-"

"BULL****! I ain't leaving you! Or any of you! Stand by! I'm going to blast this door down. Cruxi steel be damned!"

"Jake. This Cruxi attacks the mind. There aren't many pilots who can resist that level of mental warefare. Besides...I...have a personal score with this now..."

"...wait what?", Jake said.

"...I think Elora may have done it but I saw it...a vision of this thing killing mom during a duel...and now, it killed Elora...I...haven't felt like this in a long time..."

"...Mai...what's gotten int-"

"Jake. I'm no longer Mai...It's Maria."

That's when Jake heard the dramatic statement that even made him confused.

* * * * * * * * * *

"Listen up Cruxi! My name is Maria Twilight. Callsign Angel! And if you want to finish what you started with her that time long ago, COME AND GET WRECKED!"

The Neo Angel, now at perfect 100% sync rate, quickly picked up the Cruxi's sword Katya's framework drones pulled out of both her and Logic Gate in it's left hand. The right hand grabbed one of the two beam sabers from it's hip and it lit up.

But it was the glow that coated the Neo Angel indicating a strong barrier was up. The glow disappeared but the barrier was still there due to the telekenetic system feeding off of the 80% plus sync rate.

It then charged right at the Cruxi Elite, quickly dodged to the left, then attempted to do a thrust at the Cruxi with it's own sword.

* * * * * * * * * *

"Base. White Knight. Ritsu! I'm going to attempt to shoot this door down since it seems I've cleared the CWM's in here for now! I'm going to experiment with single laser fire shots to see what kind of reaction I get! But if the Cruxi did plan this out that far, I don't think even my Neo Rifle's going to penetrate!"

Turning around and getting back into a prone position again, Jake took aim at the door but adjusted his aim in a way that he was aiming upwards at the top of the door to avoid accidently hitting a friendly on the other side.

He then fired.

Katya

The moment Caretaker connected with Atty she used her forward momentum to slamming the lighter werk and pin it to the wall with Caretakers arm. Even as Atty slammed into the wall bringing them both to a sudden stop made Katya's arm hurt almost like she was the one who had slammed someone into the wall. Her display showed the impact had caused some minor damage to the arm Katya used to pin Atty but nothing that would affect its use. An Eden drone being thrown of Caretaker during the impact. It hitting the wall before falling to the ground. Damaged and offline. The other on Caretaker back was able to remained attached.

Katya, however, did her best to ignore the pain. Focused on keeping Atty pinned as it violently thrashed about. Katya locking Caretakers arm into place hoping Serah would stop aware there was still the Cruxi Elite around, and right now she was vulnerable if the Cruxi decided to attack her. Katya aware she could not let go of Atty to engage the elite. Pretty sure Atty would be turned on her.

With Atty pinned Katya re-tasked the drones to deal with Elite. Tasking them to attack. However, the command failed to transmit. Making Katya re-input the commander before it would send.
“Caretaker now is not the time to act up.” Katya muttered to herself, ordering her drones for the second time. Focusing back on Atty as sent the command who was dragging it blade across the wall. Katya sure that she was about to impaled with said blade. Not seeing a way out she braced herself for the impact. Hoping that it would avoid any vital systems. But no attack came instead she was given the sight of Atty powering down the plasma falling off its blade as it arm hung limb beside it.
“Ancestors.” Katya muttered as glanced at her statues of her attack drones seeing as they were quickly destroyed by the Cruxi Elite. Not wanting to keep her back turned. To the enemy, know all too well it was a bad idea. So she ordered Caretaker to unlock it arm A loud hiss that Katya could hear even in her cockpit it unlocked. Katya swinging Caretaker around as she glanced at her comm system. See for some reason it had closed her part of the link to the rest of the squad. Yet it was still transmitting, it now only dawning on her that her cockpit was to quite. Normally since having the comm array installed filled with comm Katya feeling frustrated.

She was about to reinitialize the teams link when she saw Neo Angle charge at the Elite. Katya hoping that Mia would destroy that Elite. Even if part of her wanted to be the one to do it.
“Nothing I can do there. For the moment.” She thought as she turned Caretaker to Elora.
“Let see if I can complete our main objective. Make this mess worth while.” Katya said to herself moving away from Atty. Before moving starting to make the trek to Logic gate as quickly as she could. Keeping readying her rifle training on the Elite. In just in case Mia needed some backup, she’d be ready to provide it. Well hopefully. Given Caretaker systems playing up. Katya still unable to make her comm system properly initialize so she could speak to her teammates. As she moved to modded Logic Gate, Katya ordered her drones stand down. Katya having no intent on recovering the werk. Right now all she cared about was the pilot inside. Katya object to recover Elora. Katya confident with if Mia could keep the Cruxi Elite busy for a few minutes she could have Elora secured. Inside the extraction sphere still attached to Caretaker waist.

Paladin lurched some as he took aim at the towers, nice stationary target who had no clue what was about to hit them. Letting off a volley from Paladin, Ariin listened of course they all knew their frames better than each other what they needed was dedicated teams. Fast attack group, heavy support team, and front line teams. An arrangement suits to help break what was a rather large squad into small fire teams able to be tasked and depend upon each with ease. He'd have to voice his thoughts later, right now they needed the towers down.

Turning he locked in a second volley and fired a second volley at the other target further out, they were easy shots to the blast alone even if he missed would probably collapse that part of the wall. His gun was more akin ground to orbit weaponry than anything else. "You can all go on ahead, Paladin's too slow and in tight spaces my guns practically useless. I can stay outside and provide cover if you need to make a retreat, I'd suggest our other heavy mechs do the same." He added letting them know his opinions on the matter.

Krista Reynolds

Krista turned around just in time to see Elise get cut in two. She floated there, gaping like a fish as she watched it break apart. Mouth drying out, Jason's voice snapped her out of her paralysis. Knowing she had no other way to help, she moved towards the newly wrecked framwerk. "Yeager, I'm moving in to assist. Can you see the Seargent's transponder signal yet?"

Moving in as fast as her wounded frame would let her, she dropped the shield as she approached the debris field, wary of vaporizing her commanding officer. With one eye on the horizon, she joined her teammate in searching for their commander, or what was left of her.
