Occupation From the
Colonial Marshal Bureau, and therefore not employed by Weyland-Yutani itself, Robin is the sole Colonial Marshal stationed on Hestia Prime. The growing number of colonies has led to a shortage of available colonial marshals to send and enforce Sol law, which has in turn reduced the authority of most stationed marshals. As a result most security functions on Hestia Prime are carried out by Weyland-Yutani's own private security force, and he will more often find himself acting as a mediator between opposing parties, usually Weyland-Yutani and the accused individual, as opposed to carrying out the enforcement of colonial law himself.
AppearanceAt an average height of roughly 5'8 or '9, Robin is certainly not the tallest in his profession. Nor is he the bulkiest, instead having a more lean and toned build instead of pure muscle. With hair of a chocolate brown and a somewhat patchy, though by no means unkempt, beard to match, it is clear that his appearance is of importance to him and he likely takes the time to style and groom his look. While on duty, he wears the
standard uniform of the colonial marshals, though he rarely wears the cap.
When not on duty, Robin adopts a more casual look with comfortable clothing in neutral grey, navy and otherwise muted tones.
StrengthsColonial Marshal Training
Receiving his training from the Colonial Marshal Bureau, Robin is proficient in the use of firearms, though it is unlikely that he is the best shot on the colony. (As a general rule, Weyland-Yutani private security forces tend to receive better training than those in the Colonial Marshal Bureau) Whilst most of his training was in the use of the bureau standard Spearhead Armory .357 Revolver, he has also been trained in the use of pump action weaponry. In the emergency bureau armory, there is one Henjin-Garcia Armorment Co. Pump Action Model 38-3 (a slightly updated version of the previous Model 37-12). Also covered under his training came crisis management, emergency medical aid, leadership skills and specific Sol Law training, with his knowledge of the law being the most relevant area of his training often used on a day-to-day basis.
Colonial Knowledge
With the patrolling of Hestia Prime being a core part of his role on the colony, Robin knows the colony better than most. More than this, he has emergency access to near every public area of the colony. Whilst, officially, he should indeed also have access to the Weyland-Yutani private facilities, it would come as no surprise to find his override codes denied, should the interests of the company be harmed by his presence.
Weaknesses Lack of experience
Relatively young, Robin has yet to put his more specialized areas of training to use. Crisis management, for example, has never been a situation that he has had to deal with. Indeed, rarely does his job require him to act beyond handling a particularly aggressive drunkard, or respond to a burglary. These years spent idly have allowed him to grow complacent, and should such situations arise that require him to take control and enact the proper procedures, his ability to do so after so many years without training is more than questionable.
PersonalitySOCIABLE · HONEST · CYNICAL
Honest to a fault, Robin wears his heart on his sleeve and is never one to conceal his thoughts or opinions on a matter. He places a great deal of importance on the quality of honesty in others, too, distrusting and disliking those who prove to be liars, connivers or those who deal in an otherwise underhand manner. To that end, Robin tends to have a slight distrust for those around him until proven otherwise, with this natural suspicion having developed after several years of being the sole Colonial Marshal present on Hestia Prime. He has learned, if nothing else, that some people will go to no end to conceal the truth.
Robin is often spotted around the White Star Casino, taking great pleasure in frequenting the new establishment. An indicator of his love for alcohol and entertainment while off duty, he is by no means an addict or alcoholic, but is willing to admit he indulges perhaps slightly more than he should. He enjoys the company of others, and would always prefer being around good company as opposed to being alone.
Driven by a belief in Sol Law (the motto of the Colonial Marshals being,
'The laws of Earth stretch beyond the Sol') and its enforcement, Robin holds the idea that he is fighting the good fight close to his heart. To this end, the lives of others come before his own, regardless of the situation and who's life is on the line. He takes a somewhat idealistic approach to his career, understanding that as a Colonial Marshal it is his duty to protect others under his oath and is by no means a coward, willing to put his life on the line for the protection of others.
FamilyNone present on Hestia Prime.
BackstoryBorn on Earth in the year 2138, Robin was raised amongst the towering metropolis of London. The city was following the pattern of most major centres across the planet, increasingly expanding upward now that most of the available space immediately surrounding the city was taken. The skies become more frequently blocked by the smog of industrial factories, constructing the very spacecraft that would take many of the residents within these cities to new lives among the stars and the new, untouched worlds that awaited them there.
Raised solely by his father, who himself worked as an industrial engineer for Seegson, Robin attended school infrequently and often acted-out, unguided by his often absent father who was caught working long hours for basic pay. When he finally left education at the age of 18, he found that he had less-than-average qualifications and limited opportunities for the future. Taking a job as a security guard for Weyland-Yutani within one of their London-based research facilities after passing an initial entry exam, Robin continued in his line of work for the best part of three years. Doing little more than manning the front desk, he found his title would be more accurate were it 'Receptionist', as opposed to security officer. Indeed, it's likely he would still be working a similarly boring career were it not for his spur-of-the-moment decision to apply for the Colonial Marshal Bureau. Having been made aware of the organisation during one of its recruitment drives, as it frequently finds itself in short supply of available Marshals with the ever-growing list of human colonies, Robin had found his way out. Not only would he become an approved member of the
actual law-enforcement, which in his mind would allow him to pursue some meaningful work, but he would also be able to escape the feeling of claustrophobia that came with being, in Robins mind, essentially trapped and doomed to work dead-end jobs in an unattractive city.
Completing his basic training by the age of 24, Robin was initially sent to Luna to work in the colony of Plymouth. Working as a Colonial Deputy, it was demanding but equally rewarding work. One of the nearest, and earliest colonies established by mankind, it had a particularly large populace for a colony which presented larger challenges in enforcing Sol Law and maintaining the rule of law. Working on Plymouth for another 4 years as a member of a comparatively large team of Colonial Deputies under the Marshal, Robin was presented with the opportunity to become a Colonial Marshal himself. A growing colony, set up by Weyland-Yutani, named Hestia Prime was developing successfully and now required a stationed member of the Colonial Marshals Bureau. With accepting the job would come his promotion to a Colonial Marshal and his own local Bureau to operate. Though, admittedly, for the foreseeable future he was to be the only member of the Colonial Marshal Bureau stationed there.
Hardly keen to refuse a wage-increase, and convinced that acting as the sole enforcer of Sol Law within this new colony would provide him with plenty of means to keep himself busy, Robin accepted the offer. Having been on the colony now for long enough to become a recognised face and settle in, Robin has found the job to be the exact opposite of what he had expected. Relying on the security of Weyland-Yutani to enforce the law, Robin finds himself stuck more often dealing with the paperwork than the actual arrests and patrols of the colony themselves. To pass the time, he now turns to the White Star Casino and other similar establishments. Settling in to this new routine of life, he has no idea of what awaits him in the days to come.
