The setting: The name of the planet which this campaign takes place in is Terrus. More specifically, the primary focal point of the campaign will be in the country of Zenosia.

Once a powerful and prideful collective, the Zenosian Empire once thrived many generations ago under the merciless leadership of Emperor Ivan Zenosia, who sought to conquer the world. Upon the tipping point at which he'd achieve his goal of global unity, a catastrophe occurred. Some say it was divine vengeance or unholy wrath, and others that it was the result of a powerful ritual gone wrong. Nobody knows the cause of it, but on the Zenosian Empire's final battlefield, the sky turned black and all types of horrible entities and aberrations appeared from a never-ending vortex that halted both armies.

These monstrosities of extreme power quickly took to the battle on both sides, demoralizing all mortals involved and easily overpowering both forces. Ivan was among the casualties of his army, and presumably not one soldier from either army remained alive by the end. This incident came to be known as the "Vortex Massacre" in time.

Command was left in charge of his court wizard until the day when Ivan's son, Arleaux was to grow old enough to take over.

It's been 80 years since then, and Arleaux has grown old and decrepit in his time as emperor. The empire has grown weak, and has lost 90% of its controlled territory. The capital city, a handful of nearby towns and some settlements deeper in the wilderness are all that remain. Trade has halted with other countries and kingdoms since the Vortex Massacre, and no one can venture far from Zenosia's remaining territory without disappearing off the face of the planet.

The basic premise, plot-wise, is that you the players will be a group of adventurers, mercenaries, soldiers, priests, farmers or whatever else on a quest to push back the monsters that emerged from the vortex and reclaim Zenosia's territory; otherwise, face extinction. Your reasons for doing so are entirely up to you, but generally I'd like if the whole party at least had that one goal in common regardless of alignment differences. It's not necessarily that you need to be heroes, just to at least have that goal in common to avoid the party killing each other in a PvP bloodbath which is never really fun.

Characters will start at level 1. All core races are allowed, and potentially featured races depending on which it is. For classes, core, base, hybrid and occult are all fine as well as any official archetypes you might be interested in. Multiclassing between the approved classes is fine too. Technology level is at black powder, with magic used to make things like golems or magical weapons of sorts.

Generally most of the common monster encounters will be present, but vortex monsters will be specially created by me and will act as boss monsters or arc villains of sorts. They'll require more strategy and caution to deal with than normal and will obviously be much more dangerous than an average monster of a similar level.

Let me know if you're interested! I'm looking for 4 players, so once I get 4 people I'll be ready to make the OOC.

Seems like an interesting premise. Just a few questions, though. How will religion work for Clerics and other related classes? Will they require a deity to worship here, or is it possible to have one worship a concept?

@Cu Chulainn

Gods are fine. Honestly you can pull from pretty much any type of lore that has a deity so long as it's a serious deity and not some joke god.

I'm not too familiar with Clerics worshiping a concept though. Care to elaborate/share an example?

@Ace of Blades

Cited directly from the d20pfsrd Cleric page.
While the vast majority of clerics revere a specific deity, a small number dedicate themselves to a divine concept worthy of devotion—such as battle, death, justice, or knowledge—free of a deific abstraction. (Work with your GM if you prefer this path to selecting a specific deity.)

Well, if @Cu Chulainn is interested as well, then it looks like we have the four party members! If so, I'll go about making the OOC some time tomorrow with a bit more detail on the world and any miscellaneous things.

It's probably already too late to say that I'm interested. But if you always need another member, just give me a mention or something.

I'm not too familiar with Pathfinder since it has been about 2 years since I last played a few sessions. But after that time, I have been getting a bit more familiar with D&D 5e. So if I do join, I'll probably still be a bit new and still adjusting to Pathfinder.

@Expolaractually my schedule just got bodied by work, so I might not have time to get on for 3-4 days. If I straight up don't have time, you can take my place.

Hi, I am new to this site but enjoy tabletop role play, however my current work schedule doesn't allow me a lot of time to get with a group and play. I'd be interested in trying your play-by-post Pathfinder game if you'd have me. If it's too late/too full I understand but the setting looks fun and I'd love to give it a try!
