So I have this idea, wanting to see if it could be fleshed out and if anyone would be interested in playing.

In the beginning the world was one. The people lived in harmony under the Elemental Dragons. These dragons protected and governed over the people, each with their own domain. There was Astarax the Fire Dragon, Nebina the Time Dragon, Dorgu the Ice dragon and his lover Dayna the Water Dragon. There was Zennox the Earth Dragon, Guyora the Nature Dragon, Aphiular the Electric Dragon, and Brastoivika the Wind Dragon.

Harmony wouldn't last long though. An enemy scoured the land looking for the dragons. He was the Darkness. He had power, but he was no match for the eight together. He attacked villages and devoured the land and forced the first meeting of the dragons.
The Dragons, fought over how to deal with the darkness, but the one thing they could agree on was that it needed to be dealt with. Some wanted to reach a solution diplomatically, while others wanted to fight. Discord ran rampant, and nothing was done.

The darkness grew and the humans suffered. He fed on the souls and grew in power. The people cried out, "Why have our guardians forsaken us?"
Astarax heard their cries and gathered the Dragons. "We must fight. Our people cry out for us and fear our abandonment."

The other dragons responded in kind. They met the Darkness on the plains of Amari. The battle lasted days. The dragons were sure that it was going to be a stalemate for the rest of eternity. When one would gain some ground, the Darkness would push back. After a month of fighting the Dragons were starting to lose the battle. Their injuries were piling up. Brastoivika cried out to Astarax "Brother, we are going to die. We must finish this now."
"If we fuse, we might win for now, but this world will never be the same." Astarax replied
"But we must. The Darkness is to strong for us individually. If we combine our spirits, we could finish this for the good of humanity."
Blasts started breaking through Astarax's defennses, "CALL THE OTHERS, WE FINISH THIS NOW."

Brastoivika let out a roar, the other dragons knew the call and hastened together around Astarax.

"We must finish this now with a fusion." There was a murmur of confusion around the group, but the Darkness was gathering all his strength for the final attack. "Look I know we don't know what will happen with this, but if there is a chance to save the humans we must take it. We must fuse. On my mark. Three. Two. ONE."

Astarax leapt forward. "DRAGONS. WE FIGHT." The group rushed forward, and in a surge of energy, their souls forged together one by one. Each soul caused the power to spike exponentially and with each hit, the dragons as one pushed back on the Darkness. The Darkness was near its end, and the whole ordeal would have been over, if only Brastoivika fused with the others. Fear overtook him, and he called on his element and fled on the wind.

Astarax cried out "Brother, we need you. BROTHER!" but his brother was gone. "Dragons, we must continue on, even if it kills us. The Darkness is almost defeated." Blow after blow the dragons poured their remaining energy into the fight, angered and hurt at the betrayal of Brastoivika. In a final round, the dragons struck the Darkness at the same time he was striking at them. The energy exploded forth and blew the dragons fused souls apart. The Darkness shriveled up into nothingness and was gone. The souls of the dragons were scattered, lying broken and beaten on the ground. Their lights were fading. In that moment Astarax cried out, "It is finished. Our people are safe. Our bodies are dying but our souls travel on. May we one day reunite in new forms. You fought bravely, and I would be glad to do it again." In that moment, he closed his eyes. His spirit ascended to the aether and his body returned to dust. The rest of the dragons followed suit.

Brastoivika watched from his mountain top domain with a single tear rolling down his face. "I'm sorry brother. We shall meet again. I will guide your souls."

This was the prologue. The main story takes place in modern times. The Dragon Souls have finally found their new hosts. The bodies are human, but they have the ability to shift into Dragons. The shift is painful, and can be uncontrollable. They must shift at least once every three months. In Dragon form they have near complete mastery over their elements, but in human form they only have minor control.

With the characters you can pick the name and appearance of the human counterparts but the list is as follows

Fire - Dragon form is a Black obsidian body with red cracks. In human form, can make fireballs and withstand heat. Dragon form can breath fire. Leader of group.

Time - Purple body with yellow eyes/under wings. Can slow time in human form, but in dragon form can reverse time for a certain amount, and can stop time completely

Electric - Orange body with a gem inset into chest. The gem is what controls electricity. Youngest of the group, shifting is erratic

Water - Aqua blue dragon, with complete control over water. In human form can swim great and sort of breathe underwater for a short time

Ice - Light ice blue coloring. Has ice breath. In human form, absorbs heat from things causing them to freeze

Earth - light brow, with ability to grow to monstrous size. cant fly, but strength makes up for that. In human form can amplify strength if needed

Nature - Light green, ability to draw from nature to either heal or destroy. in human form can draw on nature for minor healing, and has a natural green thumb

Wind - white, learned to shape shift the hard way. Can control the wind and shift on it. can become invisible.

I call dibs on Fire Dragon, just because it's my story, and I figured I would also rp the Darkness as an NPC, and the same with the wind if no one has any interest in it, but if someone wants to be the wind dragon, I can give them more insight into the character and what has been up with Brastoivika for the last millinium. I hope you all make it down to this part, and if you are interested and want to do this, hit me up and I can give you some insight on the characters I had created and we can get this going. I'll put a very tentative interest on the wind dragon but I'd really like more info on the setting. When you say 'modern times' do you mean like the 21st century? Or modern relative to the past events? Is this world earth? Is magic a regular force in this world? Do people know or believe in dragons still or have they become nothing more than legends? Why have the dragons returned?

This is modern as in 21st century, current time frame. The history of the dragons is more like a myth, and people just prefer to cling to science. And part of the story of why the Dragons have returned just now is something they are trying to figure out. They have connected to hosts that are from different walks of life, and all that jazz, but from what I'm thinking is like the Darkness had only left to gather his strength for the ages and now he's finally strong enough to at least gain some small corporeal form, and they are trying to get control of their powers and fight this oncoming threat.

I have like plots for where everything could go, but I just want to see if I could get a group of people going and progress it naturally.

And I kind of envisioned him at the beginning of time kind of like the smoke monster from lost meets the Balrog.
Then after he is defeated he lurks in the shadows for thousands of years he learns to shape shift into many different forms, starting out as beast and slowly working his way to human. Once in human form he is a manipulator. If he wants something he can make himself appealing to his mark, but when he is angry he takes on the visage of a nightmare creature, like plague riddled corpse with bugs and creepy things climbing all over him, in and out of his mouth and eye sockets.....if that helps you at all

@Warborn123 I'll have to see what I can work out with it...The biggest thing is these dragons are the guardians/spirits of the elements...I mean there might be a way but I'll have to really look through all my notes

You both are interested in the time dragon...I don't want to say no to anything...and I cam up with a solution if you both would be interested and willing. Because of the nature of the time dragon, if you all wanted to you could play it as twins. One could have the power of time reversal, and the other the power of moving forward in time...If you all are interested in that I'd be cool with it.
