Name: Pyrrha 'Tisiphone' Artemisia
"Tisiphone" is an unofficial title given to her by her Sisters within the Order of Our Martyred Lady. The name means "she who avenges murder".
Gender: Female
Role/Archetype: Warrior Sage
Personal Demeanour:
Slow to trust others and quick to the trigger, Pyrrha isn't the easiest person to get along with. She makes no effort to hide her disdain for things she hates, and is more than willing to voice her protests. However, her loyalty once earned is rarely lost, and her history and conduct tends to speak for itself. Respected by her Sisters and academics within the Administratum alike, she is a dedicated and self-driven woman.
She commits herself 100% to certain tasks and causes, approaching them with a singular focus and frightening level of determination. This is most recently demonstrated by her near obsession with tracking and destroying the daemon known as Skeksis the Igniter.
Though Pyrrha is as devoted and stern as any other Sister, conducting herself according to the traditional values of her Order, but appearances can be deceiving.
Despite her cold, often intimidating aura, she's a passionate conversationalist. Always willing to talk about new and fascinating aspects of the Ecclesiarchy, old and new, the epic tales behind ancient and holy relics, or the interesting biographies of various people in the Imperium.
Those who learn to harden themselves against her withering gaze find her surprisingly sociable. She enjoys vintage Amasec and plays Emperor's Tarot or Calixian Shuffle when time and opportunity allows.
Specialties: Imperial History, Paleolinguistics, Purification Techniques, Close Combat
Rank: Trusted Acolyte
Description:
At 5'5" Pyrrha doesn't tower over anybody, but she carries herself with a sense of determine that is both readily apparent and palpable. Often tied into a manageable braid, jet black hair falls to her shoulders and frames her round face. Her crystal blue eyes would be mesmerizing were not for their hollow shine and her penetrating gaze which has caused grizzled veterans to shrink away from her. Her cold steel expression makes her seem aloof and unapproachable even when she's in a good mood.
A petite nose, small petulant mouth, high cheekbones, and almond-shaped eyes covered by arched brows culminate in what many see as an exotic appeal. However, the scars of her past experiences mar her otherwise unblemished pale skin, changing her features to be much more striking. The mottled flesh of old burns and cauterized wounds cuts neatly across her right eye and stretches down her neck until it reaches the web of awful scars along her right collarbone.
In another life, she might have enjoyed a privileged beauty, but service to the Emperor cannot accommodate vanity. Whatever youthfulness she still possesses has been weathered by constant strife and gruesome badges of courage.
When she's not expected to be in combat, she tends to wear the traditional shield robes of the Orders Militant. Hers are sturdy white vestments with black trim, and argent ritualistic embroidery which pays homage to ancient Adepta Sororitas symbolism. Her chaplet ecclesiasticus is so long that she typically must lash it around her waist, even then another six inches of it dangles at her side. To honor the sisters from her original order of the Eternal Gate, she also tends to wear a shining silver headdress in the shape of an arched chevron; aligned perfectly with the center of her face, an opaque white veil trails behind it to cover the rest of her head like a hood.
In combat, she wears the black power armor and red livery she received from her sisters of Our Martyred Lady. Not a mere artistic accent, the split skulls that adorns her pauldrons once belonged to heretics, who atoned for their sins with death. A silver plate bearing the icon of the Inquisition functions as a collared neck guard.
History:
Former guardsmen, deceased pilgrims--whatever Pyrrha's parents were before their untimely death, she'll never really know. She remembers spending much of her time within the halls of grand cathedrals, listening in rapt attention to preachers screaming about things she didn't understand. She even remembers gazing at the stony face of a colossal statue called "Emperor". But the faces of her mother or father are but hazy figments eroded by age.
The Schola Progenium is all Pyrrha really knew growing up, and that somehow her birth was on auspicious one, arriving into the world on the festival day of the Emperor's Ascension. She was told she was destined for greatness, but ended up being definitely average in the eyes of her mentors.
She had a keen interest history. The epic drama that the Historitors portrayed seemed like fairy tales. Thorough indoctrination warped her childish fascination into a staunch reverence for the glorious history of the Imperium.
While the Administratum favored her for service as a lowly archivist, the Sisterhood of the Eternal Gate of the Orders Pronatus stole her into their ranks first. While she desired to join the various expeditions to recover imperial artefacts, her duty was attending to their safe-keeping and maintenance.
The myriad rituals and ceremonies involved in restoring artefacts and keeping the relics protected was an opportunity to forge relationships with other Sisters. Often other orders would assist in particularly dangerous missions, or members of the Ecclesiarchy would visit her shrine on Urvan IV to see the holy relics for themselves.
Seneca Obrimos, her Sister Superior, nearing retirement as she was, tried to subtly groom Pyrrha to take her place studying and defending the relics. They shared a kindred passion for handling actual pieces of history, and deep satisfaction in seeing them recovered from dark undercrofts and the clutches of heretics.
However, just as an Ecclesiarchy delegation was supposed to arrive, warps storms across the host system of their shrine world. During the confusion, many of the daemonic artefacts sealed away in consecrated vaults began to thrum with power. Many of the sisters were wracked with headaches and seizures as a silent menace tormented them.
It signaled the manifestation of horrors, creatures of fused flesh and limbs, which began to assault the reliquary from the inside. Pyrrha and many other tried to mount a respectable defense were overrun. The last thing she saw was her mentor cauterized by a sickening blue flame.
She awoke almost a week later after the careful ministrations of persistent hospitallers and medics. Many of the senior officials died as well as several battle sisters who arrived as reinforcements. The traumatic ordeal left such an impression on Pyrrha that she petitioned relentlessly to join the sisters of Our Martyred Lady who helped cleanse the daemons.
Despite some initial misgivings, they finally capitulated. Using her connections and training as part of the Order Pronatus, she went on increasingly dangerous missions specifically to root out heretical cults and daemonic threats. Having worked alongside the Ordo Hereticus on several occasions, Her single-minded zeal and useful breadth of knowledge hadn't gone unnoticed. Though she discovered it only recently, her induction into the inquisition was carefully orchestrated by agents of the Ordo Hereticus, who wanted to recruit her, but her near obsession with rooting out and destroying daemons led her to the Ordo Malleus instead.
Much of her efforts have been to recover artefacts lost during the attack on Urvan IV. Though in secret, she has labored relentlessly to discover the names of the daemons involved in the assault. Some she has slain herself, but she only recently discovered the mastermind behind the incursion: Skeksis the Igniter, a servant of Tzeentch.

Calixian Shuffle is a tile-based game that requires both wits and guile to play against your opponent’s tile set and earn the most points. Pyrrha is skilled enough to play blind-folded.
Pyrrha recovered the beads of Sister Seneca’s Chaplet Ecclesiasticus after her death, and kept them as a momento. They have since been added to her own chain of beads, making Pyrrha’s chaplet exceptionally long--enough to wrap around her waist three times over.

Personal Demeanour:
"The path of the righteous is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of Chaos. Blessed is she who, in the name of charity and goodwill, safeguards the weak and guides them to the Light of Terra. For she is truly the finder of lost children and a daughter of the Emperor. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy his children. And you will know I am His wrath when I lay my vengeance upon you."
