Morning had dawned on Ivalice and all of those who had been asleep were most likely getting up. Either to do their daily, morning rituals and greet those who lived with them or any and all errands they had to take care of. Some more so than others, obviously, but all had their respective things to do when the sun brought first light this world, illuminating it from the darkness.

And it wasn’t any different for those who currently occupied rooms in Utena headquarters. Though, for some, they were a bit more stubborn to wake up than others. Whilst Wesley and Nadeline, not to mention Savayna and Grant had been up for nearly a full hour(about half the time since the sun’s been up), it seemed as though one particular Archadian was finding it difficult to get up even despite the repeated attempts to get him to open up his eyes. Everyone from Wesley to Michel had tried their luck. Some were more gentle with him like Emiri and others tried to physically manhandle him(Savayna). In the end, it didn’t matter because, much like with everything else, Jaakuna Darcone was stubborn to open up his eyes.

Meanwhile, as everyone else had done what the above couldn't, they were in a room that resembled a dining hall, though it seemed to be a bit rustic as what most of them probably were used to.

"Seems he still won't get up, huh?" Savayna mused, digging into the food in front of her.

"It doesn't seem like it." Wesley noted, quietly doing the same.

"And what about Emiri?"

"Seems she's still trying what all of us have failed to do."

"Sounds like a waste of time."

"Quite."

Despite everyone's best attempts to awaken him, Jaakuna remained asleep. Emiri gave up as soon as the others left, though she wanted to focus on other things. The size of their room was pretty big, so as soon as she made sure she wouldn't accidentally maim Jaakuna in any way, she would find herself concentrating. It was an odd sensation, feeling the mist and life of everything around her, though the fact that they were likely underground likely attributed to the strangeness. She no longer heard Mitron's voice, but she didn't hear Keiran's or Chaos' for that matter. A part of her felt guilty; everyone else seemed to get along well with their espers, but she was the sole exception. She supposed that Mitron sealed him away, lest she get tempted by Zodiark, but the thought was still a sad one.

She tried to recall the magicks she had cast before, and sure enough, she was able to summon a few swords. How they moved with every thought of hers, she found herself eager to test their movements. It was as if an invisible string was attatched, she was able to push and pull at them as she pleased. So concentrated was she, it wasn't until Shion would slam the door shut behind her, earning her a surprised shriek from Emiri.

"Having fun?" Shion asked, watching the swords unanimously fade into mist.

Emiri scowled, displeased, though she crossed her arms. "I was," She admitted.

She didn't seem to have anything to say to that, her amber eyes on Jaakuna's sleeping form. "It is for the best. He will need every ounce of power he can get," Shion didn't seem to be bothered at all, though it looked like that was all she cared for, as she then turned to leave.

It was starting to get on her nerves how dismissive Shion was of her. "I don't trust you." Emiri stated as Shion's hand touched the doorknob.

It was enough to get a chuckle, though she would turn to her, a curiously pleasant expression on her face. "Such confidence. I'm afraid your concern falls on deaf ears, though I admit, you've got my curiosity," She said, raising an eyebrow. "This situation is not a question of trust. The entire operation is dependent on one person--the rest of us are simply assurance to see to it that all goes well. But that doesn't seem to satisfy you, does it?"

"I understand that. What I don't understand is your sudden personal interest," Emiri replied. "You were so certain to leave everything to him, now you're taking charge of everything? Really? Why the sudden change of heart?"

Shion smiled. "If you're going to get worked up with details like that, you're going to drive yourself crazy. If you're not going to trust me, then trust him. It's as simple as that, no?" She said, finding Emiri's baseless claims entertaining. "Tell me what your real problem is. It's not a question of trust, you don't like me. Right?"

"I can't shake the feeling that if things go wrong, you'll leave Jaakuna for dead," Emiri replied bitterly. "I'm not stupid, the way you talked about this 'Rio', you either know who he is or had some sort of connection, or--or something."

Shion had to admit, Emiri was more perceptive than she initially gave her credit for. "It doesn't matter. The Creature needs to be destroyed, one way or another. Venat will fall after, and then we can see what to do about Levi," Shion stated.

Emiri scoffed. "You seem confident, considering you'll throw all that onto Jaakuna."

Shion smiled once more, though this one was notably colder, and she stepped towards Emiri, amber eyes staring her down. "Believe me when I tell you, the dislike between you and I is mutual," She told her. "Rather than worry about 'ifs' and 'buts', I suggest you pay attention to yourself. I have no doubt that if anything goes wrong, you will be the cause of it."

"And believe me when I tell you that if Jaakuna gets hurt because of you, you're going to have to answer to me." Emiri snapped back, fearless violet eyes glaring right back.

A desperate screech emitted from one person as their body became engulfed in raw mist, distorting the air around them. They charged forward at a single entity — a shadow that personified death itself. Unlike the lawful death that the Death Seraph represented, that which had been the focus of this individual’s anger threatened all life, not just the lives of all mortal races that walked on Ivalice’s soils and breathed in her air. It was the greatest threat to not only humekind but the Gods that have created all living beings and all living, organic matter.

Mist collided with shadows and a collision of epic proportions had been created; light and dark; fire and water; life and death; good and evil — all that which opposed each other and were the up to the other’s down became present in this one, singular colliding of forces.

Their movements were blinding fast — too fast for any who witnessed it to keep up with their movements. They went from one corner of the cave to the other in a single second. When one had been pushed to assume defensive countermeasures, the other counteracted that to turn the tables. Spell after spell had been launched and each was met with the perfect counter. It was almost as if they could reach each other’s thoughts. It was almost as if one knew what the other was going to do. A game of chess, this was. Only the one who could predict the next move before the other had a chance to adjust would get the leg up on their opponent.

Even still, this was a lot of give and take. The more they gave into their attacks, causing fissures that had the potential to drive a wedge in the largest of cities and evolve into massive earthquakes(as well as aftershocks that were just as disastrous), the more they realized they had equal footing, yet neither was going to give up because both had as much to gain by emerging victorious. Both had equal motivation to see the other became nothing more but a distant memory.

But for one, it was much more than just eliminating that which threatened all life. It was about saving the one who meant more than anything to him.

I will kill you! Said Jaakuna Darcone, facing the Creature, though eyes were to the left of him.

I wish you all the luck in the world in that endeavor, Jackson. The Creature spoke, but its voice was no longer distorted. It had volume and form. Not only that, but its form was no longer of complete shadow. It was a solidified form much like the form Venat had taken before. It was clad in black armor with the sigil of the devil himself throughout it.

“You will pay for what you have done!”

And as Jaakuna’s eyes drifted over to the ground, he saw a lifeless body that was drowning in a pool of blood. The color of their hair unrecognizable as it had been tainted by the very blood their body harbored inside it. Whatever remnants of its shade had remained was now gone. Only maroon remained.

“I’m sorry.” He said to the body, wiping away a single tear as he charged forth towards the Creature for yet another attempt to kill it.

Sorrow woke Jaakuna up, his emerald eyes slowly opening to the sight of something he had already deemed it being too early to endure. Not even in an upright position and already Emiri and Shion were at each other’s throats. Of course, it had been Emiri’s defensive stance about how Jaakuna was forced into a position they both knew he didn’t want to be in and Shion retorting back in saying how he didn’t have a choice.

“Can’t you do this elsewhere? I was in the middle of a very...enthralling dream.” Jaakuna groaned, forcing himself to stand up. It was obvious he was up. His eyes were open somewhat. Eyelashes were hindering the full view of his emerald gaze and his frequent yawning signaled that this Archadian had yet to enter the state in which people were officially awake. But, as he stood, Jaakuna heard all what they were saying, but that didn’t stop him from walking sluggishly between them, both of his arms brushing past the two busty babes of his life. His left arm pressed against Emiri’s forcing her to make a quarter, clockwise turn, and his right arm had made Shion make the same turn but half of a quarter.

And before either of them could say anything about it, like a walking corpse, Jaakuna had left the room, leaving both gals to their devices.

Shion watched Jaakuna, mildly annoyed, though she would return her sharp gaze to the brunette. If only that determination, that flicker of life she had would apply to the rest of her life, there was a possibility they would be in a much better position. She had half a mind to speak her mind, but it just wasn't worth it. The woman closed her eyes, choosing instead to walk out of the room, much to Emiri's irritation. Of course, Emiri wasn't quite finished, stomping after Shion. It was cute, though the way she seethed was entirely hilarious. Would she attack her? No, she couldn't have been that dim, though to her surprise, Emiri would quicken her pace, slamming her shoulder into Shion's as she brushed past her. Shion watched her with curiosity, though she couldn't quite hide a chuckle as the brunette practically shoved Jaakuna out of her way, clearly mad at him as well.

Meanwhile, Nadeline hummed serenely, a lock of her hair twisted between two of her fingers, her tome wide open in front of her. She hadn't been reading anything in particular, though she didn't seem to find what she was looking for, either. She let out a small cry of surprise as the door was kicked open, a fuming Emiri in the doorway. Grant raised his eyebrows, mouth full of food. "Efryfing oc--Everything okay?" He started, his mouth stuffed, though he decided to swallow before continuing. "You seem angry."

Emiri threw herself into a seat, though she said nothing. Nadeline let out a sigh, closing her tome. "Your temper really should be checked, you're going to give yourself an aneurysm," She advised her warily.

She sounded just like Shion, though rather than reply, she simply scowled, her arms folded on the table grumpily. "Was Shion mean to you again?" Grant asked. She buried her head in her arms. "Sticks and stones, Emiri."

It mattered not where they went. Whether it was in Dalmasca, Archadia, Rozarria, or even some other location, there was no such thing as prolonged silence when it came to this ragtag bunch of royalty and nobility — especially when one factored in Jaakuna. Whether he chose to or not, he was the source of most, if not all, of the noisy antics caused by his foolhardiness. However, in the case of the most recent one, he was actually innocent. Believe it or not, he did nothing to deserve not only getting shoved by a fuming Emiri but as soon as he was going to stand up, Michel and Meli accidentally(yeah right) stepped on his back, causing him to grunt and fall into unconsciousness.

Savayna ignored Jaakuna and paid more attention to how Emiri seemed angrier than usual. “Don’t get mad — get even.”

Wesley shook his head at Savayna’s poor word choice. “I’d recommend not following that advice. Fighting Shion, even in her weakened state, might not end well for anyone.” Wesley joined Michel, mirroring his grimacing expression. Both feared what would happen should things get any more hostile between the two, equally-agitated women.

A light, elegant laugh echoed through the room as Shion strode into the dining hall. Emiri looked up, displeased as she watched Shion stop before the table, a hand to her cheek. "I would take that more seriously if it was coming from...anyone else," She stated as she took her seat, smiling at the irritated Emiri.

It seemed as if she had heard Wesley, though Shion was more amused than anything. The brunette grumbled something inaudible, though it was nothing that countered his argument. So what if Shion could probably mop the floor with her? That didn't make her better, if anything it infuriated Emiri more. Why was she so content on stepping on her and showing superiority when it was already more than obvious? Getting even was definitely in the forefront of her mind, though going about it was another story.

Sitting up straight, Emiri cleared her throat, tapping a finger on the table. "I was raised to respect my elders," She tried to sound dignified, but it came out as more of a huff.

Shion nodded slowly. "I'm so relieved you'll listen to Wesley, we wouldn't want you to get hurt again. would we?" She asked, batting her eyelashes. "We can't have you be more of a liability than usual, can we?"

Grant nearly choked on his food. "H-Hey now..."

It was almost as if Shion was deliberately fanning the smoke to this fire that was the animosity between she and Emiri. Neither of them was doing anything to quell their petty dislike for one another. When one had said one thing to the other, they’d respond with an equally-hurtful retort that would escalate it to higher temperatures. At a certain point, one had to wonder if it would cross the point of no return…

Wesley rubbed his eyes as he let out a groan. He seemed to be the only one who not only could speak without it hurting anyone and do so with a clear head. Savayna wished to see them fight. Nadeline probably didn’t want to get involved. The Gods knew Grant had no idea what to say and Jaakuna was in no position to voice any of his opinion on the matter. Michel and Meli were doing their best to ignore the rising tensions between them, so it was up to Wesley to quell the situation.

“Ladies, perhaps this could wait until a later date?” Wesley suggested, looking at both of them before letting out a sigh. “We have more pressing matters such as how we’re going to find the Creature. Or have you forgotten?”

Emiri grumbled once more, only listening to Wesley because she could not come up with a decent comeback. Shion's smile faded, her usual and somewhat intimidating straight expression taking its rightful place on her face. She looked to the entrance, and after a moment, a still-quivering Ren peeked through, though when she caught Shion's look, she cleared her throat. She moved with determination, though she hadn't quite seen Jaakuna on the floor, and so she promptly tripped over him, letting out a shriek as she fell.

Nadeline stared at the young girl. "Well then," She commented as Ren jumped back up, her previous determination melting away and replaced with her usual nervousness.

Shion let out a short sigh, though she beckoned for Ren to come to her. The brunette acknowledged her mistress' command, whispering something into her ear. As the woman nodded, Ren turned around, as if to leave, though without too much effort, Shion took a hold of her collar, stopping the girl in her tracks. "As always, you forget who it is you're dealing with," Shion replied to Wesley rather dryly as she released Ren, who stood rigid. "A concentration of an abnormal Mist has been found, and quite quickly."

The princess was finally interested in the conversation. "Truly? Where?" Nadeline asked.

Shion leaned back in her seat, her cheek resting in her hand, her other hand simply pointing up. Grant stared at her, confused, though he seemed to take a guess at to what she meant. "Up? Above? On the surface--Wait, in the air?" He strung together everything he thought.

"Hiding in plain sight. Those without Ivalice's blessing would never notice it--but of course, there was no possible way anything could hide from Aloa," She explained, her hands together now. "It seems as if the Creature isn't simply waiting, however; it is also calling out to you all, daring you to approach him."

Emiri gripped her fists, though she pushed her chair back as she would stand. "And we're ready for him--uh...most of us are," She quickly corrected herself as she remembered Jaakuna.

As she had went on about the truth of the Creature, there wasn't so much as a hint of neutral expressions on any of their faces. To be quite honest, this was a bit of a shocker. To think he was up there in Ivalice's skies, shrouded in such dense mist that no one — not WEsley, Nadeline, Grant, Savayna, or even Jaakuna, who had the Gift of the Ram in his possession — took notice to where this being had been hiding all this time. And why should they? When you wanted to operate in the shadows and didn't want anyone to take notice to your presence or your plans, sometimes the best thing to do was hide in plain sight(as Shion had pointed out).

"Do we know where exactly the Creature is waiting?"

"I do," Jaakuna rose to his feet slowly, groaning. He felt like he got ran over by an airship.

"You do?" Savayna raised an eyebrow, doubting Jaakuna.

"Well, I know the general area that the Creature may be."

"Oh, please enlighten us." She dared him, smirking.

"The Sky City of Bhujerba." Jaakuna said, looking at everyone. "I believe we can find the Creature near Bhujerba." He then looked to Shion, "that is what you were going to say, wasn't it?"

Shion nodded, though she had no words to say as her rose would glow softly and she would snap her fingers. Ren watched the conversation, though she acted as if an order had been received, turning on her heel and exiting the room. Shion would stand, brushing her hair off her shoulders, stretching her arms above her head. Letting out a small groan, she placed her hands on her hips, shrugging her shoulders as she closed her eyes. Once she opened them, she waved her hand dismissively, though despite her nonsensical way of moving, the walls would shake.

"After the...enhancements the Ifrit bore proved to be more cumbersome and resulted in more than a few bruises, I decided to get an old friend of mine to steady the instability to make entering the Creature's mist-filled hell slightly smoother than our crash landing on the Phon Coast," Shion stated. "And before you throw your fit, nothing was changed, things were merely fine-tuned to make the passage with regards to having more than just the pilot in the seat."

"What a relief," Nadeline stated rather loudly, though she clapped her hands together. "Now, shall we go forth, guns ablaze?"

"I'm the only one with a gun," Grant pointed out, much to her dismay.

"What she means is that instead of talking, we actually go out there and finish this!" Emiri declared.

"Then why not just say that--"

"It's a saying, gods, Grant..."

Even if they had a general location, there was still the fact that the Creature wasn't necessarily in Bhujerba. The most logical guess would be that the Creature was somewhere in the surrounding area, perhaps even higher than where Bhujerba currently floated: high above the Archadian-Dalmascan sea. Though, while that was true and the instinct they had was to go guns blazing on them, Wesley felt indifferent towards this approach. It was mostly because, given the immense threat that the Creature posed to not only the group present, but all of Ivalice, simply going in with nothing but their magick and weapons was, in Wesley’s opinion, a fool’s errand.

“I am not certain that’s wise.”

Savayna raised an eyebrow. “What’cha talkin’ ‘bout, Wes? We know the where, so best not to waste any time. We have to do this.”

“Going straight in without a real plan would only benefit the Creature.” Wesley added, crossing his legs as he looked around the table. “I believe we need confirmation of its exact whereabouts before we act hastily.”

“Then what do you suggest?”

Wesley’s eyes stopped on Michel, which made the green-haired male to curiously — and somewhat suspiciously — arch his eyebrow at him. “With your experience, I vote in favor of Michel leading an expedition to scout out Bhujerba for any clues leading to the Creature.”

“I’m flattered, but are you sure about this?”

“It makes sense that it’d be you. The rest of us lack the abilities to jump through the void at any given moment. If things do go south, you can get yourself out of harm’s way. There’s also your experience at espionage to factor in.”

Michel let out a chuckle, though he would turn it to a smirk. “Very well, Wesley. If this is what you feel is best, then I will do this.” Michel said, eyes going to Shion. “I’d be more comfortable if I would be allowed to bring Meli with me. Additionally, I’d like to request, with your permission, that the Poisonous Rose assists in this mission. Her skills will be beneficial and would make mission run a lot more smoother.”

Shion had raised a hand to her chin, interested, though deep in thought. There was a blanket of silence that covered the room after Michel's request. It was quite strange, it wasn't awkward, it wasn't tense, but there was something completely sinister about it. The only accurate description that could possibly offer any sort of explanation was that whoever that title belonged to, it was nothing but bad news. The blue haired woman continued to ponder, though she seemed uncertain. No, that was false--it was more of a curious look.

Her lips curved into a small, wicked smile, and finally, her eyes that once held no focus went straight to the dark haired woman at Michel's side. She had crossed her arms, her face adorned with a stony expression. And finally, the silence was broken with a slight chuckle from Shion. "My, oh my...What a fascinating suggestion," Shion admitted.

Nadeline didn't like where this was going. "Whatever this is, I'm objecting to it." She said.

"To the surprise of...no one," Emiri couldn't help but point out. "She hasn't even agreed to it."

"And in what world or language can something codenamed as 'Poisonous' ever be considered a good thing?" The princess was quick to retort.

Grant was usually on Emiri's side, seeing as how Nadeline objected to...nearly everything. But this time, she had a point. "So, judging by your amusement, this...'Rose'...is a decision you won't make lightly? May I ask why?"

Meli scoffed, finally breaking free and slamming her fist on the table, earning her a surprised yelp from Emiri. "It's because that bitch is a backstabbing, lying, two-faced, homewrecker!" She yelled, fuming.

"That is a lot of names..." Emiri mumbled, though her expression soured as she immediately thought of Cassandra.

Nadeline rolled her eyes. "You seem fond of her," She said sarcastically. "I'd ask if there was a history but you apparently know her well."

Shion nodded slowly. "The Rose title is given to a select few...and her skills are unmatched," She said, watching as Meli muttered more incomprehensible insults. "At least on the battlefield, her presence would be a welcome one." The princess nodded in understanding, blue eyes staring at Shion. The blue haired woman had trailed off, and unfortunately for her, Nadeline had caught it, giving her a look. Shion tapped the side of her head, her face looking slightly more guilty. "Although, I suppose there have been a few incidents personnel-wise."

"Personnel-wise? You mean, she doesn't get along with people?" Grant asked.

She chuckled once more as Meli placed both her hands on the table. "Who the hell would get along with the notorious man-stealer? No one!" She insisted.

"Oh, that nickname was pretty tame, I expected something more insulting." Emiri murmured.

"She works alone because she's so much of a fucking skank no one can stand to be around her dumbass-whorebag-cunt-self!"

"Oh, there it is."

Whilst Meli went on a verbal rampage about her, Michel was trying to find the right words to say in response to anyone but her. He knew fanning the flames would only deepen the wrath that was surely to fall upon him once the two of them went behind closed doors. Though, a curious thought came to him: will she be angrier than she was about him abandoning her for all that time he went to every corner of Ivalice? Or will her...rocky history with the Poisonous Rose be even worse than that?

I don’t think you really want an answer to that, Michel. Shemhazai was right. As much as he wished to know, some things were best left unsaid.

But there was still the fact that Michel — regardless how Meli felt about her — needed Ivy for this mission. There was no one currently available for missions that was more fitting than her.

“Utena’s Poisonous Rose…” Wesley mused, mumbling something to himself.

“You say something?” Jaakuna asked Wesley.

“I think I know this Poisonous Rose. Though, I’m not absolutely certain.”

“Well, what makes you think you might know this person?” Savayna asked.

Wesley thought about it for a moment. “I remember going over some documents my father had left unattended to because of his untimely, sudden murder. There were some papers that detailed some dealings between my father and Utena.” Wesley’s eyes went to Shion. “In it, my father had a signed contract with Utena to where, in exchange for access to Utena’s information network, my father would feed them information about any rogue Utena flowers operating in Dalmasca’s sand. The one that my father had primarily exchanged letters with was someone called ‘The Poisonous Rose’.”

“Oh.”

“Oh.”

Michel couldn’t help but let out a chuckle. “Not surprising, I suppose. She’s always been one to--”

And as if he would go to speak, out of a puff of pink smoke, a woman with white hair appeared on one knee, head bowed, and most importantly, her silver hair covering all traces of her face. “I’ve come as soon as I could. Is there something you require, my mistress?” She spoke, keeping her position as she was.

Meli scowled, crossing her arms once more. “So just like that, you took his suggestion?” She scowled.

Shion smiled once more. “That’s within my power as the head of this organization, yes,” She told Meli sternly, though she would then give Ivy her attention. “I’ve decided to send you on an expedition with Michel and a handful to Bhujerba. You’re aware of what lurks there--I want to know exactly what we’re dealing with.” She stated, her voice and stature changing in an instant. “It’ll be Michel, Meli, Ren, and yourself.

As Shion spoke, Nadeline watched Ivy with the same curiosity she always had. Despite Meli’s description, she seemed like a professional, listening to every word her mistress spoke. At the very least, she held her respect for Shion, though admittedly that attributed more to Shion herself. She decided she would simply watch to see exactly what sort of person this woman was, though admittedly, she was better dressed than Meli and Lola, so that was something.

”Of course. I’ll prepare at once.”

As soon as Shion would signal her to rise, Ivy would do as such. When she did, everyone would see her full frame. She had a slender figure with curves in the right places. Her skin, while it was fair, had hints of yellow and bronze spread throughout. No doubt this was due to her continuous exposure to the sunlight. Her attire as it seemed at the moment comprised of steel-plating on her arms, a top that came to a halt mid-abdomen. The fabric was colored a slate gray whilst tracings of pink rose went throughout her top and dark teal pants. They stuck to her figure in such a way that the observing glance could see her assets in full view.

And of course, Ivy wasn’t one to deny her audience a glance, so as she looked around, she purposely would turn around to show the males of the group exactly what she had to give. But, she wasn’t the type to do it for too long. AFter about a few moments, she grew bored, so she turned to face Michel and Meli. “Michey-bear~” Right away, she went to hug Michel. And through no fault but Ivy’s, his face became buried inside her bosom.

Ah, so that was the source of Meli’s hatred.

Nadeline watched with much amusement, though she winced as Meli let out a noise that may have been a scream. Was it? She dared herself to look, and sure enough, the raven haired beauty had a look of absolute fury on her face, though she was quick to pull Michel from Ivy, rage burning in her eyes. She gave Emiri a look, and the brunette slowly shifted towards Jaakuna nervously.

Have you no shame at all?!” Meli screeched.

What a greeting…” Grant said, in awe.

“I agree..” Wesley seemed slightly...wary of this one. Was she really the same Poisonous Rose that his father had done business with?

Finally having enough, Ivy had let her Michey-bear have a moment to breathe, which seemed like something he really needed. Though, she had never understood men. They were always lusting over her and when they finally got their chance, they acted as if they wanted to get away.

She let out a bored sigh, looking at Meli. “Oh, hello Camellia.” Ivy’s words sounded so cold. Bitter. It was as if Savayna’s own ice originated from Ivy’s mouth. “How nice it is to see you in something actually decent. No one needs to see that godawful figure of yours and your fake breasts.” As she spoke, she purposely flipped her hair to show her own.

And as she did that, every male in the room, whether they wanted to or not, fell victim to that display.

Snickering could be heard as Emiri let out the slightest of groans. Ivy was Cassandra times a thousand. No, a million. No, a billion. No, whatever denomination was above that! To her surprise, however, Meli would simply laugh, clearly recovered now that Michel was out of Ivy’s grasp.

Please, with a body likes this--” She gestured to her curves. “--I can understand why you’d think that way, but as Michel can assure you, I’m all natural.

The princess couldn’t help but smile. Meli’s defense was an adorable attempt at covering her insecurities. For now she wanted to watch, but honestly, it wasn’t any fun considering how Ivy was so easily able to walk all over Meli. It was then she decided that she wanted to see exactly what this Ivy was capable of. “Charmed to make your acquaintance,” Nadeline said, raising her eyebrow.

About as charming as getting pricked by cactuars,” Meli snapped.

Ivy flat out ignored Meli. She knew that would get her even more riled up. “Ah, so you’re the Golden Rose of Rozarria. I’ve heard much about you. Though, your uncle never told me how short you were.” Ivy mused aloud, remembering something.

She liked the nickname. Her elbows were on the table, hands laced together as she rested her chin on them. “Unfortunate, yes,” Nadeline replied slowly, though something she said tipped her off, her eyes darting to Grant for a moment. The dark haired man was easily confused, though the dots were connected rather quickly. “I had no idea my uncle found me as a topic of discussion.

“Oh honey, he had a lot to say. But hey, if you don’t believe me, just ask him yourself.” Ivy gestured to Grant. The man immediately started shaking his head, feeling several stares burning in the back of his head. “Been awhile, hasn’t it Granty-poo?” She shot him a wink.

Nadeline turned herself slightly to face Grant. “How long has it been, Granty-poo?” She asked him, unable to hide her grin.

“Please don’t call him that.” Savayna grimaced through a scowl, joining the I hate Ivy Club alongside Meli.

I...believe this is the first time we’ve met,” Grant said slowly. “I’d remember meeting someone like you.Cause you’re a little like Levi. He wisely chose not to voice the last few words.

“I’m hurt!” Ivy dramatically sighed.

She let out another one, but this time, at the snap of her right middle finger with the corresponding thumb, her hair inverted to a dark brown that appeared almost black as a starless night and her eyes became more of an eerie forest shade. Additionally, her clothes changed as well. It took the form of something more traditional to that of someone out of Balfonheim. She had a white, sleeveless top with a black bra that pushed up her breasts, though, her pants remained the same.

“Remember me now, hun?”

Shapeshifting was a common trick in Utena, it seemed. Emiri frowned, though as she looked at Grant her eyes widened. Grant peered at her, nodding slightly. “You know, when I was younger, I accompanied my father on a trip to Balfonheim, and we met this very charming lady,” He started slowly. “...Jeanette?

You know her?” Nadeline asked, surprised.

Whoa, wait, that’s Jeanette?” Emiri blurted out, shocked.

Wait, don’t tell me you know her, too?

Emiri rolled her eyes. “Grant wouldn’t shut up about her,” She explained. “It was all, ‘She was gorgeous’ and ‘I wish she was in Rozarria’ and ‘Her eyes were like dazzling emeralds’.

Nadeline’s jaw dropped, and she turned on Grant rather quickly. “Grant!

What? She’s objectively attractive, that’s not my fault!” Grant defended himself.

“Everything’s your fault.” Savayna added, directing her attention to Ivy, Jeanette--whatever she liked to call herself. Bottom line was this woman, who looked like a cougar, was the famed Jeanette that Grant had told her about when they were playing twenty-one questions about their past.

“Seems as though all of us have experience with the Poisonous Rose.” Wesley mused. He found this entire situation quite entertaining.

“I haven’t!” Jaakuna interjected, though he sounded almost disappointed.

Nor have I, is there something you’d like to tell me?” Nadeline asked Wesley, doubtless hearing him choke on a piece of sausage.

As Wesley took a moment to swallow, he looked at the subtle glare his beloved had. “I mean, I personally haven’t dealt with her, but my father has. As I had stated beforehand, he was involved with Utena in business dealings. His main contact was the Poisonous Rose of Utena.” Wesley clarified, looking to Nadeline just so that she knew it wasn’t him.

“Wait, you’re Jonathan’s kid, aren’t you?” Ivy squinted her eyes. “Of course! Little Wesley, though, you don’t seem so little now.” Ivy made a rather...seductive-sounding noise. “You’ve grown into quite the handsome man.” She winked towards him, ignoring the increasing glares coming her way.

Had she no shame? No, of course not, this was why Meli hated her. Emiri shrank back, praying she’d be invisible, though no doubt with Jaakuna’s mouth she’d probably spot him next. For now, however, Nadeline was in her crosshairs (well, Wesley was), though she was no Meli who simply raged, nor was she Emiri who let her jealousy get the better of her.

Crossing her legs neatly, Nadeline smiled. “Indeed he has,” The princess agreed, placing her hand on his free one gently.

Ivy’s eyes fell on Nadeline, though they went to Wesley as she shook her head. “A shame that you had to knock up the shrimp of the Roselia family.”

Ah, it had begun. “I only pray my future child is just like its father,” She replied cheerfully.

“As do I!” Wesley added, taking Nadeline’s hand.

Looking at the two of them, Ivy grew bored. It was no fun riling up those who chose not to get bothered by her mannerisms, so she looked back to Shion who seemed positively distant; almost as if her mind was elsewhere. Though, when her eyes took a counterclockwise scan, she noticed the crown prince of Archadia and the famed time Scion. Both seemed to be intrigued in their own ways.

Ivy would prop herelf on the table, legs crossed and both shins pressing against Jaakuna’s leg. “You two aren’t like the rest here, are you?”

Oh, great. How she wished she could be like Nadeline, but Emiri could already feel the green monster clawing at her heart. Maybe if she pretended she was unflappable, then maybe Ivy would back off as well. Doing her best to muster up her self control, she tried to ignore whatever it was that she was doing to Jaakuna.

What do you mean by that?” Emiri asked, trying to sound cool.

“You really are as dense as my mistress says you are, huh?” Ivy shook her head, choosing to just get right to it. “Well, let’s first take the couple who seems to have everything figured out: Wesley and Nadeline. They already have a plan. Utena has roots everywhere, so we hear all. We know that Wesley and Nadeline are to be wedded to one another. Nadeline will move to Rabanastre and be the new queen. Wesley will serve as king. They have a child on the way as well. Then you have Grant and Savayna. That’s a...tricky situation, but I’m sure they’ll figure it out as well. Here in Utena, the Sicarius father and son currently have romantic ties to my mistress and Fake Tits herself, respectively. But then there are you two.” Ivy stated as if finding fault in their relationship. “Of all of these couples, you two are the ones who’ve had the most problems with not only each other but those around you. Or need I--”

“No, you don’t.” Jaakuna stopped her mid-sentence. He knew better than anyone.

Emiri shifted in her seat, feeling awkward. As much as she wanted to disagree, things had been...rocky. It wasn’t that she had ignored it, but damn, she hated how Ivy read her like a book and just hung it all out there. Nadeline and Wesley were well on their way to being Karolina and Lorenzo 2.0, Savayna and Grant were crazy about one another, but Jaakuna and Emiri? Less than ideal. Again.

Shion seemed to return to the conversation at this point, clearing her throat as she snapped her fingers. Within seconds, the doors opened, Ren walking back in only to stop at her mistress’ side. “As per your instructions, my lady,” She stated as she would hand Shion the lotus flower that she had been holding onto.

Well done,” Shion stated, though she looked at Ivy, Michel, and Meli. “It’s time. You know what must be done.

Ivy happily got up, winking at everyone. “It’s been a treat. We should do this again sometime~” As she left them with that last thought, the three would take off as Ivy led them.

Shion watched them leave, though she realized Ren stayed in place. “...That order included you,” She reminded her.

You...didn’t mention Ivy...would be on the mission…” Ren mumbled nervously.

For the love of--Go,” Shion told her, clearly losing her patience. Ren squeaked a sound of fear, though she hung her head as she shuffled, though it turned into a run as she gave chase. Letting out a sigh, Shion would stand, looking at the group over her shoulder. “I’ll return when I hear something, but there are some things I must take care of first. Feel free to wander--though, I cannot guarantee your safety depending on what doors you open.” She told them as she began to walk out. “I’d stick around, but there is a very tense awkwardness I’d rather not stay for.

Nadeline shook her head at her. “Coward!” She called at Shion as she left.

“Wait, so we’re free to wander?” Jaakuna had a rather mischievous grin on his face.

Emiri let out a small sigh. Grant looked at Jaakuna, surprised. “You’re...surprisingly peachy,” He commented.

“And why wouldn’t I be? We have what may be our only chance to explore the one place none of us have been to.” Jaakuna explained the reason behind his cheerfulness. He would then look at Grant. “You can’t earnestly say that you aren’t the least bit curious about what sort of secrets are dwelling within these walls, can you? That goes double for the rest of you.”

As if Shion was stupid enough to leave things for just anyone to see. But Jaakuna seemed determined, and so Grant would shrug. Nadeline, however, was on Jaakuna’s side, nodding. “I admit, we didn’t get a chance to truly see how the cogs turn around here,” She stated as she would stand.

“You don’t have to ask me twice. I’ve been waiting to go snooping once we stepped foot here.” Savayna bluntly stated.

“We won’t ever get a chance like this.” Wesley had stated, siding with Jaakuna as well.

Wait, did this mean what Jaakuna thought it meant? Did they actually agree with him for once? “So, I have an idea and you all are on-board? Why don’t you guys ever side with me more often.”

“Because your ideas lead us into more trouble.”

“Mhm.”

Trouble we usually have to bail you out from.

Your last idea led to Levi gaining Zodiark so…

Emiri shrugged.

That actually hurt. To think that they would say such things about him and his ideas actually wounded him. But, despite what their cheap shots, Jaakuna prepared himself to turn the other cheek and not react as he normally would because he was a mature man now. He was the Transcendent. Above all else, if he wasted time fighting with them, they would run out of time that would be better put to use exploring the secrets of Utena.

”Let us get to work then! This place isn’t going to explore itself!”

Nadeline stood up from her chair and placed a hand on her hip. “This place has a far reach, would it be better to divide and conquer? Or shall we go together?” She asked.

“I think splitting up is a superb idea.” Wesley added, echoing Nadeline’s sentiments.

“Yeah, I don’t care how we do it. But how shall we go about it?” Savayna asked.

And then suddenly, the lot directed their attention to Nadeline. “Since it was your idea, you choose for us.” Jaakuna said.

She bore a smug smile, enjoying the attention. “The most action will happen with Jaakuna leading the way, most likely,” She said. “And of course I’d like Wesley to accompany me.

There was no other way to describe that notion more accurately, and Grant let out a sigh in relief. “The coalition of reason plus Savayna will stick together, I suppose,” He said, nudging Emiri.

Emiri nodded, though she looked at Jaakuna for a moment. Words seemed to be on the tip of her tongue, a protest, perhaps? Nothing was said, however, and she threw on a smile. “If it’s the coalition of reason, then we should have Wesley with us,” She told Grant.

Savayna looked at the two and kind of shook her head. “If our history has taught us anything, it’s that the most successful voyages are ones where I’m with Jaakuna.” She shot Emiri a smug look. “And of course, every party needs a healer. Sorry to say, but I’m going with Jaakuna and Nadeline.” She stated more than requested.

“Don’t I get a say in this?” Jaakuna asked, seemingly blindsided.

“You can say yes.”

“But what if I don’t want to?”

“Tough shit.”

Jaakuna scowled, though he looked at Emiri, giving her an apologetic smile.

Meanwhile, Wesley simply shrugged, looking at Nadeline. “It seems we have a change in plans, my darling.”

Parting is such sweet sorrow my dear, but one of us needs to keep an eye of those two,” Nadeline stated, giving him a wink.

And now the coalition of reason is complete!” Grant laughed as Emiri gave him a grin.

See, now you get it,” She told him, hooking one arm with his and the other with Wesley, putting her in between the two. “Shall we?

Admittedly there hadn't been a time where Emiri found herself with both Wesley and Grant in her company. Separate, sure, but not together like this. Wesley was the image of a gentleman, though not one shy to getting his boots dirty. His strong sense of morality usually lead him the right way, though admittedly, he was a little stiff as a result. Still, he took his responsibility with stride, and Emiri admired that about him. Then there was Grant, who was...Grant. Rough around the edges, slightly jaded, but overall an unlucky dork. Yeah, that was a good way to describe him.

And then there was herself. An idiot who let someone say mean things that hurt her a lot more than she wanted to admit. What she should have done was tell Jaakuna that she was not okay with what was said, but once again, she would pretend it was nothing. That maybe their relationship did need a little more work. Idiot, idiot, idiot Emiri.

For now, however, she plastered on a smile as the newly formed trio deliberately took off in the opposite direction of the other trio. Admittedly, the headquarters were a lot bigger than she anticipated, and while they would be on the side of caution, she really did hope they would find something of interest. Grant seemed to be in agreement at least, his eyes more curious and searching than she had ever seen. At one door opened to a library that put Rozarria's royal library to shame; so much so, that as they entered, the feeling of a spell cast over them would alert Emiri immediately, though she relaxed as she spotted a waystone in front of them.

"How big can this be if you need to travel via waystone?" Grant asked incredulously, examining the ancient device. "These inscriptions have six different options as well!"

Emiri squinted at the inscription, watching the magicks at play, though with her heightened sensitivity, she did spot something else. "There's a seventh, hidden option. I assume it's supposed to be for members only?" Emiri said, tracing her finger along the hidden lettering, her magicks making the inscription glow softly. "A secret section of a library of this size must hold something interesting, right?"

Whether it was an impulse or just going with the flow, Nadeline was feeling adventurous.

Because of this, the short princess found herself in front of the blonde pair, somehow leading the way. Her heels clicked rapidly, her eyes darting this way and that. In truth, she knew Jaakuna would likely get them into some sort of trouble, and so she decided that if they were going to end up somewhere, at the least she could spare them the trouble. Well, that and she wanted to pick the door. The hallway was vast, and yet, one door in particular caught her attention. While the other doors had people going in and out, one door in particular seemed to be devoid of any people. Motioning for the other two to follow suit, she simply strolled up to it. She was slightly disappointed to find it unlocked, but as they went in, she let out a delighted squeal.

Before them were rows upon rows upon rows of weapons as far as the eye can see. Swords, daggers, guns, spears--anything and everything one could think of. Nadeline's eyes were wide with shock, although she then turned to the other two, an excited expression on her face.

"Jackpot!" She squealed with delight, clapping her hands together. "Considering the rather diverse members, what wonders are in store for us?"

Though the journey through the void had only amassed about a minute on the outside world, inside it, the time that had elapsed was closer to an hour. Moving more than himself across long distances was never what Michel’s travelling method was meant for. He could take him and Meli from one corner of Archadia to the other with little problem. That was because the two of them were on the same wavelength and the city was built on the ground, so, of course, it didn’t pose any difficulty for him, but moving several people at once was a lot more difficult for him, especially now that he had less-than-optimal control over his Void Seal due to what happened yesterday. Larger groups of people meant a longer time spent in the vastness of the void.

And it most certainly didn’t help his concentration that Ivy and Meli were at each other’s throats the entire time whilst in the void, nevermind the fact that about a dozen others who had been Ivy’s Thorns were behind them, whispering to themselves. No, this wasn’t an ideal situation — not even in the slightest. However, Michel had to deal with it. But the Gods sure were testing his patience.

After a while, Michelangelo had simply used Shemhazai’s special powers within the void to block out the noise coming from both of them so he didn’t have to hear either of them retort nastily towards the other. It would allow him the time to concentrate more on finding the quickest route through the void and to Bhujerba.

Several minutes would pass as they kept going through the naught before Michel’s body had begun to emit a bright, purple light. His aura activated. The white and black void had suddenly split apart, the colors of Michel’s portals surrounding the rip in space and the group of Utena Flowers stepped through it, thus signalling their arrival into the Sky City of Bhujerba. To make sure that they kept absolute secrecy, however, their arrival was within the Lhusu Mines, though, they weren’t deep within the mines. They were only a few dozen paces from the entrence.

“Why bring us here, Lord Chamomile?” One of the Utena soldiers asked.

Michel turned around, his smokey eyes scanning all twelve of the Utena soldiers who had all parts of their bodies covered except for their eyes that varied in color. “The Lhusu Mines are barely frequented by the locals. It is only operated by those who work for it, but ever since it was deemed as an unsafe working environment by then-Marquis Roman Darcone, it was shut down until conditions improved.” Michel informed the soldier who inquired about the reason for being in the mines.

“Of course that makes it a perfect base of operations.” Ivy added, giving Michel a sweet smile whilst giving a smug-like expression towards Meli’s way.

Michel simply ignored that and would focus more on the task they were given by Shion. “Our Mistress has given us our mission: to find any abnormalities within the air. You are the best we have at gathering information and sensing such things. Now go!”

The lot looked at Michel, then to Ivy, the one whose command they were normally under. “You heard the Chamomile. Go!”

“Yes, Lady Pink Rose!” After saluting her by placing their hands over their hearts, the twelve were gone from sight, leaving the trio alone in the mines.

“While the grunts go out and foolishly attend to a uesless task, we can discuss what we’re really going to do.” Michel said, looking to the two ladies.

“What do you mean useless task?”

“Do you honestly think those grunts will actually be able to sense the Creature?”

Ivy seemed confused, “what does that even mean, Michey?”

“Can you not sense it?”

“Sense what--”

After a moment, Ivy’s usually smug face went to one of shock and horror. “You don’t mean…”

“It’s here.” Michel faced the opposite direction to where his body had turned towards deep into the mines. “The Creature dwells deep in the Lhusu Mines.”

Hear
I...
Think
Please

Feel
Hmm

Why would

What about
Could it be that

Enough.

Aloa stared into the depths of the mines, a solemn expression adorning her normally neutral face. Her lips were pursed, as if disapproving, although she was attentive to everything. Visually, all was still and silent. But something lurked deep, deep within, and it beckoned to them. Whispers that would never reach hume ears danced in her elongated ones, though as she pondered whether she should give it any attention, a sneeze would catch her attention. She sighed.

Rubbing his nose, Vlyn let out a low groan, rubbing his shoulder soothingly. "What's it waiting for?" He asked, frowning. "There's no way it doesn't know we're here, and I'm pretty sure I felt Michel and a few other wanderers."

To his surprise, his viera partner turned to him, arms crossed, and a surprisingly annoyed look on her face. "It calls for a fool to go forth, and yet it leaves us at a standstill--no," She corrected herself. "It calls for her, but she will not listen. She recognizes the voice, yet her uncertainty will only serve as a hindrance. Venat's words ring true, it would seem."

Vlyn clucked his tongue, raising an eyebrow at her. "To...Shion?" He asked for confirmation. "That thing is neither hume nor mortal, but you make it sound like a scorned lover."

It wasn't intentional, but Vlyn was accurate. Leaning against the wall, Aloa contemplated her next move. She remained unaffected by its precense, though even now she could see the effects on the magicite exposed on the walls. Their glow was eerie, still, unmoving, very much like common stone. For such magicks to come to a complete halt was unnatural, though she knew better, as in truth they were fading.

A pair of footsteps alerted the pair that they were not alone. Vlyn immediately moved, though he was surprised to see a young girl with curious eyes. Aloa pushed herself off the wall, frowning. "What have you seen?" Aloa asked her.

Ren stared at the magicite for a moment, though managed to tear away her gaze long enough to look at Aloa. "There is no life, but to call it death is...inaccurate," She mumbled, uncertain. "But there is something calling. Those without Her protection are spared it, but it has no interest in them."

Vlyn rolled his eyes. "The day a little hume can Hear better than I can..."

The girl blushed crimson, though she darted her eyes to the ground. "I...It's not that! Y-You're probably better than I am..." She stuttered, shaking her head. "I'm only here b-because Mistress Shion wanted to know if you learned anything..."

"Go back to Michel. If the worst comes, he can send you somewhere safe," Aloa's words were sharp, causing Ren to wince.

Ren nodded, though as she lifted her head, something in the air seemed to change in the next second. The magicite around them shined brilliantly, causing the three to get on alert. Vlyn looked around, though he let out a yelp as a nearby stone exploded. He heard Ren scream, though as he turned, he felt a chill in the air. There it was! But why come to them now?! No, wait, this was different, it didn't feel like before at Raithwall's. Looking around, he let out a gasp as he saw the wind swirl around Ren. The girl clutched her head, eyes wide with horror, darkness etched on her skin.

Vlyn moved forward, surprised when Aloa would grab him. "Do you see that?!" She asked, her own eyes wide.

What was it? Was it consuming her? No, wait, what was happening? The girl's head bobbed, although after a moment, she let out a disturbed laugh as the wind died around her. She examined her hands and body, letting out a sigh. "This will do, I suppose," She mused outloud, though her eyes landed on Aloa and Vlyn. "We meet again, do we? Ah, but not like this." This force was different than before. Aloa narrowed her eyes, though the pair readied themselves as Ren stepped forward. "Fear not, I would only like to send a message."

"And you would have us play messenger?" Vlyn asked in disbelief.

She smiled, wagging her finger at him. "With this, I can get to exactly who I want. The offer is much appreciated." She stated sweetly, walking towards them.

Vlyn opened his mouth, but as she raised her hand, he then realized he was airborne. No, wait, he had been sent flying once more. He finally crashed into the ceiling, the familiar and unwelcome feeling of getting slammed filling his every nerve. He could see Aloa charge forward, though Ren deflected the attack rather easily. How? Ren had no such magicks--whatever was possessing her was surely behind it. As Aloa went in for a physical strike, Ren surprised her further, as she took the attack. Instead of being harmed, however, Aloa's claw seemed to split her into two people, both Rens smiling.

"I suppose if you insist, how can I say no?" The two stated, bringing out identical lotus flowers.

They had travelled so many leagues with each other. Whether it was at a high velocity in the Ifrit or on the roads of Ivalice, the group had always been together in some capacity. Never were they without each other and never were they far from one another. Even if continents separated them, there was always this fabric in the air that connected them through the bonds they had formed. It was an inseparable bond that, unlike most, would last a lifetime.

And yet, as Wesley had often glanced at both Emiri and Grant, he felt like this was a brand new adventure. He had went on voyages with them, sure, but it was always with the other three alongside them. This was perhaps the first time that he had actually went on a separate expedition with Grant and Emiri only. Usually, the two were with Savayna and Jaakuna respectively, so it was a bit of a surreal moment for the Dalmascan King-to-be. Part of him obviously missed his beloved, but there was this other part of him - the adventurous part within his soul - that was absolutely adoring this new experience. It not only gave him what could be his final chance to spread his wings before settling into his role as king, but, at the least, he’d be able to get closer to Emiri in ways he hadn’t been able to.

So he was now fully-committed to this little exploration that all of them were indulging in. whcih, as they came to a waystone that seemed to have a variety of selections, Wesley’s eyes lit up much like how Nadeline’s would’ve if she saw all of the options. “How intriguing,” Wesley mused, leaning forward as he moved closer to the waystone. He did his best not to touch it, but that didn’t stop him from inspecting it as close as he could without activating it. “It appears these inscriptions are lead to several different areas.” Wesley mused, looking at each, though, through his natural curiosity, he happened upon the seventh one.

As he would go to read it, Emiri had seemed to activate it before he could, thus revealing its words to her. When she spoke about what it said, it was a library. WEsley, at that moment, found this too ironic. Nadelien would’ve killed for this finding. And yet, as Wesley looked at the other two, he couldn’t help but also be curious about this library. As intriguing as the other sections were, the library had appealed to him most. Though, when he thought about it a bit more, perhaps what Emiri said was the truth and that it was only a viable option for members of Utena. And as far as Wesley could remember, neither Wesley nor Emiri nor Grant were part of Utena’s ranks.

“I suppose we’ll have to find something else to explore.” Wesley said with regret.

As he walked away from the waystone, by a complete accident, he touched the edge of it. Though it wasn’t his intention, the stone would glow brightly, surrounding the three in its light. Before either of them realized it, they had been transported into a dark room that, as soon as Wesley had turned around, trying to gain a perspective as to where they had been transported to, light suddenly illuminated from the darkness, revealing towering shelves of books.

“Well, I suppose that’s one way to travel.” Wesley admitted, laughing somewhat absentmindedly. His eyes had wandered from the gaze of Grant and Emiri and in circles at the many shelves. Among the awe he was feeling, there was also a newly-found shock as he noticed there wasn’t a single member of Utena in sight. “That’s weird, it seems we’re alone here.”

What a time it was to be alive. Jaakuna had no idea what sort of adventure that Emiri and the others were having, but there was quite the sight to behold as he, Savayna, and Nadeline, the three of the group that were the most likely to get into trouble, had, as Nadeline blurted out perfectly, hit the jackpot. In front of them, as it was obvious to all three blondes, all along the walls from the ground that they had their feet planted on to the ceiling, weapons of all kinds rest upon racks. There were all kinds from swords to daggers to bows and crossbows; guns and bombs; lances and spears. All of them were arranged by their type, size, and..and..

“Wait a minute..” Jaakuna approached it, “no fucking way!”

“What?”

“Nadeline, come here!” JAakuna practically dragged her by her lanky wrist. “Up there at the top. Isn’t that the Zodiac Spear?” He asked. His eyes had lit up with such a sparkle that Jaakuna was going back and forth, looking at all of the weapons.

Meanwhile, Savayna couldn’t do much but just roll her eyes, though she leaned to Nadeline. “I swear, any time he gets near shiny toys, he’s like a freaking child.” She said, sighing, “should we do something?”

Wesley was right, no sign of life besides themselves were in the hidden section. A dark chuckle seemed to bounce off the walls, causing Grant to stiffen slightly. He turned his head, watching Emiri's mischievous smile, her fingers tapping one another. Oh no, he recognized that gleam in her eye, and found himself taking a step away from her. Emiri herself looking at Wesley, her eyes wide, and a frightening expression as she raised her hands.

"Are we truly alone?" She asked, her voice hushed despite all three of them being relatively close to one another. "This reminds me very much of the forbidden section in Rozarria's royal library...perhaps they also have a Departed Scholar..." Her voice was low as she spoke, taking absolute delight in her creepy tone.

The dark haired prince shuddered, clearing his throat slightly. "That's just an old wives' tale," He said, managing to keep his cool.

Her violet eyes narrowed slightly as she nodded. "They say that libraries were once made by a single person, that every book was written by the same scholar under a different alias. A long, long time ago, the Rozarrian Emperor Juniper ordered the scholar to impart all his knowledge. The scholar told him that he knew so much that by the time he would finish speaking, they would both be dead. And so the Emperor ordered the scholar to write. And write he did, day and night, every single piece of knowledge painted with ink onto paper..." She seemed completely enthralled in her story, though it was clear that she was preying on Grant, who had noticeably began to sweat.

"I-I remember this," He stated boldly. "The scholar wrote until his hands fell off, and then--"

Emiri shook her head. "Oh no, you see, the Emperor had forbidden magicks at his side. So even though the scholar was well on his way to death, the Emperor would revitalize him with dark magicks. Any finger that fell would be reattached. Skin that began to sag would be forced to stay in place with stitches. After much time had passed, the scholar was warped into a monster, barely recognizable from his form in life. And when he finally finished, he would rise from his desk. He told the king that his work was done, and that he wished to pass on to the afterlife. The Emperor would not release him, for now there were more things to learn. The scholar was blinded by rage, and using the same magicks cast on him, he killed the Emperor. But his soul had long departed, and try as he might, his body and spirit were bound to the books he wrote. And so they say, when no one is around, sometimes you can hear the scholar shuffling his reformed feet along the aisles..."

Grant let out a nervous laugh, turning away. "That--That is ridiculous," He seemed to be trying to reassure himself.
