Matanza:

Noun
- A place where animals are slaughtered for their hides and tallow.
Verb
- To slaughter

Please forgive the lack of a proper first post, but I thought I'd pitch the idea (again). For those of you who don't know, the Indominus rex was not the first genetically engineered hybrid to ever appear in the Jurassic Park franchise ("genetically engineered theme park monsters" and possibly Spinosaurus aside); that honor actually goes to the Chaos Effect toy line. I'd like to combine the line with hybrids that have appeared in Jurassic World: The Game, borrowing from the Lego short film "The Indominus Escape". And for once, all of the psychedelic dinosaur coloration will be explained. An initial list of residents of Isla Matanceros:

- Amargospinus
- Ankylorandon
- Baryonyx walkeri "kappa"
- Ceratosaurus nasicornis "xi"
- Chasmosaurus belli "tau"
- Compstegnathus
- Deinonycanis
- Dilaphospinus
- Dilophosaurus "venenifer" "delta"
- Euoplocephalus tutus "eta"
- Indominus rex
- Ornithosuchus woodwardi "iota"
- Pachycephalosaurus wyomingensis "upsilon"
- Pachysaurolophus
- Paradeinonychus
- Pteranodon longiceps "pi"
- Stegospinus
- Tanaconda
- Triceratops horridus "beta"
- Tyrannonops
- Tyrannosaurus rex "omega" (Juvenile)
- Ultimasaurus
- Velocirapteryx
- Velociraptor antirrhopus "alpha" (will include variations that have either naturally arisen-- due to these dinosaurs having a relatively unstable genetic structure-- or human-induced permutations, a lá Primal Carnage)

The backstory:

Among the Muertes Archipelago is an island known as Isla Matanceros. Behind his uncle John Hammond's back, Peter Ludlow began a project to develop dinosaurs for military application on the island. Ultimately the project was abandoned after the San Diego Incident, when the whole world became aware of the existence of InGen's dinosaurs. In 2005 Masrani Global opened Jurassic World, and Henry Wu was approached by a party who wanted to once again weaponize InGen's assets. A small force of InGen's security division set up a new base of operations on Isla Matanceros, where assets were created to be weaponized. Once again, the project was abandoned after the Isla Nublar Event in 2015. Now, the hybrid dinosaurs are free to roam about Isla Matanceros.

In the future (if enough people join) I'd like to implement hybrids from JW:TG (including "normal" dinosaur hybrids in the form of level 31+ dinosaurs). The RP would be from the viewpoints of the dinosaurs, complete with a field guide detailing each species' size, appearance, diet, behavior, etc.

Field Guide currently in the works! In order to get more involvement in the Field Guide, I'd like to have (potential, at this point) RP members suggest subtypes for the RP via PM. The aforementioned reason for dinosaurs being colored the way they are is based in part on various skins from Primal Carnage. The Blue Jewel Oviraptor, for example:

Sometimes what you think is a good idea in your head turns out to be a pretty stupid idea when you actually put it into practice. Making a completely black feathered dinosaur for the purposes of invisible stealth purposes seemed like a good idea when it was first conceived, however when they disappeared from sight during every field test, they were unable to be accurately assessed and a week had to be spent finding them again each time it was decided that for practicality purposes they simply couldn’t be black.
To this end the lab boys were ordered to “get back in there and paint it blue or something so we can see the blasted things”. And so they did, and thus the ultimate night time stealth dinosaur was decorated in a bright and vibrant blue pattern so that their stealth abilities could be accurately assessed.
The tests didn't go well.

The text descriptions most likely won't be as humorous, but can be used to explain an animal's appearance (version number, "can't-see-the-damn-thing", etc.). If you run across a coloration you would like to see, submit it! It might just be added to the Field Guide!

Can you clarify what you mean by subtypes of the Rp, or are you just talking about inspiration/whole custom entries into the Field Guide?

@BespeckledCeph Certainly. These subtypes would be the difference between dog or cat breeds. Due to certain physical or genetic changes they're slightly different from the main species (although not as diverse as the difference between a Chihuahua and a Great Dane). Their behaviors and range may differ slightly from the norm. These different "breeds" may have been created by InGen, or arose naturally in the wild. An example of both:

Raptor Alpha - "Hupia" Variation

While InGen's velociraptors have been known to be excel in hunting in the tropical rainforests of Isla Nublar and Isla Sorna, the "Hupia" variation of Raptor Alpha was bred specifically for jungle warfare. They were named by a Costa Rican-born scientist, who likened their ability to disappear in the jungle to the mythical hupia.

Beta Triceratops - "Bacterial" Variation

Being a relatively common, purely herbivorous dinosaurs on Isla Matanceros, Beta Trikes are often hunted by predators like Omega Tyrannosaurs, Indominus rex, and Ultimasaurus. Unfortunately the latter of the three top predators are equipped with weak venom, in addition to naturally occurring viruses and bacteria, as well as the entire species being infested with [REDACTED]. Ninety-nine out of a hundred times, if an attack fails, the Trike dies within a few weeks from infection. However there have been individuals that have overcome the infection, and the combination of bacteria, viruses, venom, and [REDACTED] alters the dinosaur's genetic code, resulting in both a new skin color and more aggressive behavior.

Hopefully this will answer your question. ^^

@Otaku95
Thank you for the clarification, this definitely helps, I'll try and come up with some ideas, but I'm not the most overtly creative, tryin to keep the dream alive!
