Name: Cédric Quint (Alias Louis Garon/Ethan Barbeau/Exalpha Grimard and many more)
Age: 38
Gender: Male
Appearance: Standing 6'2" tall, he has a rather slim look to him, even trough he is still quite sportive for his age. Soon getting into his forties, his hair has already a few shades of grey in them. His eyes are narrow, and lay deep, mostly with dark circles right beneath them.
Above his eyes are deep, white scares, who´s origin never was truly confirmed. The doctors inside the hospital believed them to be the result of a desperate attempt to claw his own eyes out, but further medical investigation has shown that these cuts couldn't come from a human fingernail. Further his belly and lower chest show operational scars of unknown origins.
In terms of clothing has Cédric embraced the "Film Noir" look. Mostly in trench-coats, vests and fitting pants. Dressing sharply and expensive, he has a taste for the finer things in life, and as such is seldom seen in private without an expensive watch and a fitting pair of sunglasses.
Agency/Organization: Police Nationale (Formally), Quint Private Investigation (Technically still active)
Education: Cédric has his Baccalaureate, as well as a full Training in the French Police. Spending seven years in the force, patrolling the Crime-plagued Streets of North-Marseille has completed an education rather helpful as an Private Investigator, a carrer which he follows now for almost ten years now.
Background:
Cédric was born in the city of Marseille, France, as the son of a Policemen and a Nurse. Growing up in the poor north of the city, he had to witness how his loving father slowly turned towards the Drinking, as a wound after an car accident left him paralyzed in the right side of his body. At the age of seven, his parents divorced, leaving Cédric and his two younger sisters in a shattered wreckage of a home. Facing violent abuse from both his alcoholic father, and the new boyfriend of their mother, Cédric began to spend most of his youth with friends outside on the streets.
He was able to finish his education, and even to pursue a career as a police officer, in which he excelled becoming one of the best of his class , just like the father he remembered from his early youth. But his friends had taken different paths, and soon, he would be torn between turning an blind eye towards their illegal activities, and his duty as a soon-to-be policeman. It was at the age of twenty, when he was celebrating a friends birthday at his apartment, when the police came to raid the apartment. Using his personal connection to some of the officers, he could convince them to look the other way, making sure, that the stash of Cocaine in the Fridge was not discovered. Reviving a generous sum of money, he soon found himself accepting a new stance on Justice and the law, taking bribes and selling information's to the Moroccan Criminal clans who held the Drug trade in their grip. Growing confident in his abilities in this dangerous game, he took to gambling, soon starting a devilish circle of debt, deeds and drugs. Corrupt and brutal, he unleashed his frustration on his Job, further damaging his chances for the future, and leading to multiple disciplinary hearings. He had the makings of an Excellent Cop, yet no real chance to ever put it into use.
Years passed, and Cédric had found himself in an horrible spot. His career was at an dead end, he under grim supervision and his gambling debt about to lead to dire consequences, when a routine Check up on a Farmhouse, turned into a nightmarish shootout. In the end, it was only Cédric and his partner left standing, who seemed to just have stumbled into a Drug Trade between two Maghreb Clans. In between the corpses, still lay, not a stereotypical Suit-case, but a sport bag, filled with Money, and more cocaine, then Cédric had ever seen in his life.
If he had been a better man, or at least a better cop, he could have received recognition and a sure promotion for such a Bust! With his face smiling to the Press, photographed next to his partners, in front of the Money and the drugs, later to be seen all over France.
But Cédric was not such a man, and the choice he made, would be one that would haunt him for the rest of his life! And after he stepped over the corpse of his partner, still warm and bleeding from two holes fired in his back, he took both the money and the drugs, before setting the whole place on fire, leaving the flames and the following Gas-explosion to wash off all remains of his crimes.
Claiming to be unfit for duty, after the traumatizing Shootout, and the death of his partner, Cédric quit the Police-Force and would leave France for the US, as soon as the investigation over what happened at this Farmhouse had blown over. Calling in his last favors from some old friends, he was able to make sure that certain evidence never would reach the wrong people, and that the Autopsy Report would end up proofing his version of the story, making him the traumatized lone Survivor of a horrible Tragedy! Leaving France the same year per Container Ship, he would carry two bags with him, one filled with African Cocaine, the other with Dirty Money.
Taking residence in Boston, Cédric needed a way to Launder his money, without causing to much attention to himself. He found a way, by opening an Office as an "Private Investigator". Nine out of ten costumers never sat a foot into his office, and payed him his own money, which he could place into his bank account, content with acting as a private eye for the few real costumers.
It was five years after he had fled France, when his past would take hold of him. Photographs of his former Service Handgun, and Autopsy descriptions of the charred bones were send to him from an anonymous source. Further Letters would reach him, showing pressing evidence of him taking on bribes, as well as pictures of both his parents and his sister, and their Residences. Afraid, Nervous and in panic, Cédric once more planned an quick escape, before he was approached by the origin of these Letters. The conversation was short, and the implication of what they were capable of doing, made Cédric willing to accept what ever they wanted from him. To his surprise, they didn't wanted Money, nor the Drugs, but rather his service as an agent!
And so, Cédric Quint ended up working for voice behind an untraceable Cellphone, speaking with a thick German accent. At first, his assignments were rudimentary and confusion. Waiting in front of buildings, collecting trash, and one time even just sitting on a Park-Bench for multiple hours. It was after a few months, that the Cellphone ordered him to investigate the Murder of a Woman in Quincy, a death in a series of Murders, named the "Quincy Butcher" by the Press. The Victims were always the same, young, single mothers, with no family nor connections, killed in the most horrible fashion. The seeming lack of intrest of the police, who seemed to call it out as just the acts of Gang Violence, had caused multiple waves of outrage, and Cédric was quick to find connections between the Victims. All of them had delivered their children through a C-section, all of them were the same age and all of them had a history of Drug use, yet most importantly of all, the bodies of the children was never found, even through the police always claimed double homicides. It was around this time, when his view on this forced duty changed, and he began to see something in it, that he never would have expected to receive, a chance for Redemption!
With a new found spirit, he attacked the case like he never had in his life. Inside him, there had always slumbered an excellent detective, yet it never had the chance to break out! A cash-Bounty in the Internet, finally gave him the lead, as he was able to buy the data needed to narrow down all the potential future Victims in Quincy and the Surrounding Area. Shadowing their traces, he relied mostly on his instincts to pin down the one that he believed to be the next potential victims among the mass. With only a handful remaining, he began to get to know each single one of them, posing either as a Social-Worker, a new Neighbor, or even as a Date. Comparing them to the former Victims, he soon found out, that all of them, except one, no longer fitted the profile. Yet the one that did, a prostitute with the name Laureen Reuben, made Cédric sure, that she had to be the next target. Claiming Memory loss from the time between her sixteenth to nineteen birthday, a deep distrust from all Government Organizations, and a little daughter named Natalie, a mute yet highly intelligent child, who´s father she never knew, nor recalled.
Staying close to her, even if it was from a distance, he couldnt help but feel an attachment to the Mother and young daughter, and a horrible feeling of Guilt, using them as a bait to get to the Quincy Butcher". Calming himself with the thought, that he would be there at the right time, he rented a flat near theirs, and always kept an watchful eye on them.
It was a snowy, January Night, that the Butcher would make a move! To his shock, all of his listening devices only sending static, and all noise seemed to be drowned out from the Flat next door. Fighting an deep instinct to run, he took it to himself, to stop what was happened. Armed with a shotgun, he stormed into the flat, to see a scene straight out of hell, the worst of the Butchers deeds so far, a parody of an Operation, horrible beyond anything Cédric had seen in his time as cop. Yet, he was able to surprise the Butcher, and in a swift firefight, kill him. On the corpse he found more questions then answers, yet also an Employee ID of a Sawmill in a Canadian Town called Hasworth. Fleeing the scene of the crime, before the police arrived, he knew where he would head to next.
His memories only extend to the moment that he arrived in the town, asking the locals for the direction of the Sawmill. Then, his memories are blank, with only a few interlopes of scenes in a Hospital, the sterile stench of metal, and the everpresent stench of Lavender. Later, he would find out, that he had been for seven Weeks in the small town, three of which he had spend in a Motel on the western Edge of town.
It would be a Trucker, finding him in the middle of the night, eight weeks after leaving Boston, half frozen and starving, wearing a patients robe, with Operation scars all over his belly and carrying a sleeping Natalie in his arms, wandering aimlessly near a Highway leading towards Edmonton. Rushed into a hospital, he would recover his senses in the wake-up room of the Royal Alexandra Hospital, a ringing cellphone laying on the table next to him. With no papers on him, and a lack of explanation how he had ended up where he was, Cédric found himself in a terrible position, until a nurse delivering him an envelop, with papers that identified him as Cédric Quint, Natalie as his daughter, a fake story on how the two went onto a Hiking trip to Canada, and an detailed Explanation on how to explain his Scars as an failed attempt of an Organ Robbery!
Half-way to recovery, he was visited by a man in a black suit, who claimed to be an old friend of his, who offered him an Envelop, containing the Identity of the man behind the Voice on the phone, in return for a detailed account of what he could recall of his time in Hasworth. Reluctant at first, the man in the suit was able to convince him, that in the end, it all had been the fault of the Voice, and that he as a tool, had outlived his usefulness. It was by then, that Cédric realized that he was nothing more then a Pawn, in a game great in scope, that he couldnt even start to comprehend its real size. Hoping for at least a little piece of Answers, he accepted the deal and after he had recovered, Natalie made their way back to Boston.
With the information's from the Suit, he tracked down the Voice, to an Old abandoned Resort in New-England, where he would walk into Room 133, finding an old German man, feeding his Cats. Recognizing the voice, Cédric had a hard time, calming his anger, and soon would resort to violence, trying to get answers out of the man, who still mocked him with his dying breath. Maybe it had been the result that the Suit had expected, or maybe Cédric temper just had gotten the better of him.
Burying the body deep enough to not be found, Cédric returned to Boston, trying to return to his old life as a Money-Laundering Private Detective, yet nightmares, tainted with the smell of Lavender, the ever-present implications of what he had been through, and newly placed care of Natalie had already changed his life. Holding onto the thought of Redemption, like a drowning man onto a a piece of wood, as well, as trying to be a father for a little girl.
Personality:
Cédric has changed over his life, from a cold and calculating cop, ready to shoot his partner in the back over a bag of money and drugs, into a redemption seeking Private Investigator. Where once he had been egocentrically self-focused, he now holds up the naive hope, that he can redeem himself, if not in the eye of the world, at least in his own eyes.
There has been a lot in his life, that made Cédric in the man he is today through, giving him a thick skin, and a cold glare in his eyes. His approach to violence is Pragmatic, relying on it when he needs to, feeling little to no regret in its application, should the means be justified.

Fears:
The thing, Cédric fears the most, is to lose Natalie! And while he does his best to convince himself that it would be the loss of her as his daughter, that would horrify him, in reality, he fears to lose what he sees as his redemption in this world.
More so, he fears to ever recall what really has happened in Hasworth, as its the mere flashes of memories that he somtimes sees in his dreams, that make him reach for the bottle of Cognac as soon as he wakes up.
Yet little can put the fear of god into his body, as the thought of once more going through a Surgery or any kind of Operation. Its a fear that goes beyond any kind of reason, yet is understandable after what he went through in Hasworth.
Skills:
Gifted(+5): 2 skills Marksmanship, handguns | Awareness
Adept(+3): 3 skills Criminology | Hand-to-Hand | Interrogation
Average(+2): 3 skills Tactical Driving | Stealth | Marksmanship, long guns
Novice(+1): 4 skills Persuade | Forensics | Law | Psychology
Weaknesses:
Even through his Memories are still tainted, and most likely will never return, his time in Hasworth has left scares on his mind. He has a deep rooted, horrible fear of Operations and Surgery, a fear that makes it almost impossible for him to Agree to any such procedures while in his full senses. In a strange Irony, his mind also has developed a strange case of Apotemophilia, in which he desires to remove, or at least replace, his inner organs, in one way or another, feeling them still stained by some kind of Defilement he still cant explain.
Cédric has smoked his first Cigarette when he was fourteen, and hasnt stopped ever since. And while he himself still is an Athlete in his own rights, his body more and more show up his limitations, as well as a nasty coughing. It is easy for even the most rudimentary Doctor, to diagnose, that chances are high, that Cédric will have to deal with Lung-Cancer in his not-so distant future.
Off-Duty Clothing/Equipment:
Clothing:
If one had to describe Cédric´s style of clothing in one word, it would be simply "pragmatic". Picking Trench Coats, white shirts and black pants, he keeps himself simple yet good clothing, while declining any luxury. Only his watch on his waist, a Rolex, which he had bought in an Impulse as he arrived in the US, gives away that this man may be a lot richer then it seems. He also always wears Sunglasses, except when the time of the day would make it ridiculous (in which case, they find their way into the top of his shirt).
Weapons:
- A M1911, worn in an Shoulder Holster
- An electric Baton, with most parts being replaced with Cattle-Prod electrics
