Actually, voodoo is African in origin. It would rise around the 17th century, and has its foundation in West African religions. Shamanism is more Native American. As for whether or not necromancy is among Voodoo practices... well, most practitioners are highly respectful of the spirits, be they departed lives, or as patrons of the world’s aspects. But, just like many things, it is the user who determines what that power is used for.

Voodoo is ritualistic, and involves communication with spirits. It should not be considered evil or dark.

@Lionhearted Thank you for accepting Devin :)
I shall add him to the character tab and add in the sword skill. I think he could have taken it up as an interest and it might come in handy somehow, as he has other form of protection. If an occasion should rise up and he might need it.

As for Vivienne. The major witch coven, she dislikes is the Voodo Coven. There are some witches, that she likes outside of her own coven. Her opinion about the other supernaturals...well it's debatable...as it's bound to change every now and again.

I can certainly change the shop round a bit, with the scrolls. Her shop would also be open to believers and practitioners of magic, not just witches. But to the public, she could sell the antiques like you suggested...and maybe some form of tokens or talisman's, for good luck.
but her shop can be open just for the Supernaturals, if preffered.

I see. Shame on me for my terrible source material. Lol.

While it shouldn't be considered evil or dark, it is often misconceived as so because of how it's portrayed by media and such. Also, some of their spells can be considered dark, which is why I mentioned that there are spells that fall underneath a blurred line between voodoo and dark magic. But then again, there's always a blurred line, no matter which branch of magic is being discussed -- but often times, voodoo is more commonly related.

I see, perhaps her shop lies away from the voodoo coven and those from the voodoo coven know not to enter because of the rivalry that they have? I think it'd be cool if you opened it up to believers and practitioners! Granted, Salem is a place in which people go to learn, discover, and invest in things supernatural for their own interest, which could give good business! But perhaps, to the real witches, they know that there's offered products such as potions, scrolls, reagents for spells, talismans, enchanted items, etc. This is something that we can discuss, but for now you can just place Vivienne in the Character Tab since everything else looks good!

I don't think, she'd even invite members of the Voodoo Coven into her shop, anyways. But yes, it would not be close to their perimeters, and they'd probably not go there, unless they were up to something.
Yeah, I think you're right there..the real witches would know what she truly does offer and where they can go, if they need something.

Thank you :) I'll put her up in a moment.

@Lionhearted@HushedWhispers Sorry for the late reply, he is apart of the Voodoo Coven, unless you needed someone to fill the lone warlock role.

I think him being apart of the Voodoo Coven would work best. :) I am sure my character can use him in some way.

Whenever you are ready, place him within the character tab, please.

Thanks for the interest!! Just take your time on a character and we cannot wait to see what you come up with. :)

So I want to offer some thoughts to y'all for consideration.

With regards to the Weres and their physiology. Considering their healing factor I was thinking that it would not make much sense for Weres to get scars from wounds as they would heal at a faster rate and scaring would not have time to occur. So any light wounds would not leave any scaring, while severe wounds and silver inflicted wounds would scar. The turned Weres would obviously retain their scars from befor the turning, but after would scar as described above. As for the born Weres, they would only scared as described above.

What do you think? It makes more sense to me with their accelerated healing. If we decide to accept this as canon, the accepted Weres might have to alter accordingly their CSs.

@ihinka
Scars form because the body duplicates the lost cells from what still exists with it. What it ‘remembers’, effectively. Over time, these cells begin to change, and as such are no longer ‘clones’ of one another, causing the scar to fade, though not all do. So, in theory, their scars from before and after their turn would be fading at an accelerated pace.

That said, for humans, wounds that are superficial rarely scar. For a werewolf, a ‘superficial’ wound could be slightly deeper.

@ihinka I think that most wounds, that the wolves have might have been deep. Since some were caused by Hunters, I believe silverware would have been involved, one way or another

@CollectorOfMyst As I don't have any medical knowledge I can't really comment on that only so much as to say that from what I know wounds that would scar tend to be not your average paper cut and it takes time for the scaring to occur while the wound heals. Hence why I think that stage would be bypassed with the accelerated healing. I can't really comment on the faiding scars from prior the turning.

@WolfLover The ones that have scared, sure, ok. What I'm trying to do is to maybe establish a canon understanding of how Weres scar as general information for during the RP, when we reference it.

@ihinka Ah I see. My bad for misunderstanding slightly. I think that would be fair enough, to say that only deep wounds or silverware would affect them the most. Unless someone else, has other ideas of what else might potentially scar them.

My fork is the most powerful of all silverware, werewolves across the globe fear it.

That aside, yes I think that it would be fitting if werewolves didn't scar as easily, as much as it takes away from the sliding scale of badass :v I mean, with their accelerated healing, most minor wounds that would leave scars on any normal person would be the equivalent of paper cuts for them.

Aw, I'm saddened to see a player go like this! If you don't feel comfortable, I definitely don't want to force you, but you are ALWAYS welcome to post a sheet up and participate!

On a side note, I'm going to be really busy for the rest of today and then tomorrow morning. I've been working on my character, as well as a introductory post to get the ball rolling. Thank you so much for the patience everyone!

I've actually been thinking about this matter as well as I've been reading about scars within were's appearances. To my knowledge, scars are apparent when a wound takes awhile to heal. Depending on the severity of the wound, depends on how apparent the scar is. For werewolves, they regenerate at fast rates, and it mentions that werewolves can even regenerate missing body parts when they reach a primitive age and experience. Thus, the clotting of their blood probably clots at faster rates and a quick recovery, to what would be fatal wounds to a human, would leave no scarring. But, in the cases that a werewolf is severely injured, be it by deep wounds, wolfsbane, silver, etc., they are more likely to scar.

Took me a bit longer than I meant for it to, but I finally finished my character! This is definitely the most detailed character I have ever written, hopefully it turned out well. Please do let me know if there is anything I can improve on!
