@Kassarock @POOHEAD189 The heck? I was asking about post spacing, not about how soon or often everyone should post. I don't care if people need or want to take more time. Not my business. I just want to know if there's a minimum number of people who should post before posting again. Sometimes the minimum is three people, sometimes you have to wait for everyone else to post, sometimes you can go back-to-back with one person.

@Dziady Okay, but this calls for a riot. Can we have some little riot? Come on, just one riot.

Back from having my wisdoms pulled a couple hours ago, I'll post between now and the morning. I'll be more active after the weekend.

@DziadyYou should write your post while you're still on anesthesia. Did they use novocaine? Definitely try writing your post while you're on novocaine.

Sorry, I took the fact that you were asking about when you could post again as an indication that you wanted to post again.

In answer to your question, why not say wait for 5 people but also wait for like 5 days as well? Considering we got 9 posts in under 2 days.

@Dziady Ack, I feel your pain, one of mine is still coming through and the bastard makes it hurt to eat for weeks at a time. Still, if I don't have to have it out I won't.

EDIT: Wow I read that back and it comes off as real passive-aggressive doesn't it? Non-intended, swear.

@Kassarock It's not as bad as I was expecting, I'm a giant puss-puss when it comes to dentists, the worst is over once they numb you up.

Also, I've made my opening post now, sorry for the delay. It's not quite up to the standards I hold for myself, but I also didn't want to put it off any longer. Hope nobody minds Berislav's sacrilegious approach to paying respect to the late captain.

Dang it, I was all proud of Cedric's hearing paying off by hearing the Captain in the middle of the night but I just read all of the IC posts again and like three other people also heard him.

Y'all are getting reported for plagiarism.

Edit: EVEN BERISLAV HEARD HIM, WHY CAN'T I BE SPECIAL?!

Me too, but the Novocaine doesn't do much for me. I still feel it when they drill or in this case pull for a tooth extraction.

Gonna get a new post up in a few hours. I'm getting uncomfortable sitting around. Still waiting on someone else to post a CS to star my other RP, so this is all I have at the moment.

@Gunther I wouldn't be able for that at all, the sound of the tooth being pulled is bad enough, don't mind fillings so much but extractions irk me. Hate stuff to do with teeth, I feel for you.

EDIT: Added a relationship tab to my character sheet, nothing there yet, will add to it as I interact with people and figure out how I feel about you ragtag gang of ruffians

EDIT: @Mattchstick Not ignoring your PMs btw, just tired, I'll respond in the morning.

Gotta be honest, I don't know what Cedric' dialect or accent would sound like. Cedric is an old English name, so would a sharp English accent be in order?

Just a note, if you're dealing with sposoletto just call him Letto or Sposo. Il Sposoletto just means The Small Groom

You don't have to do that, buddy. I do it because I find it fun. I did a Peninsula War RP, focused on the Corunna Campaign (1809) on the old RPG forum years ago. My character was a Scotsman with the 42nd (Royal Highland) Regiment of Foot, The Black Watch. I have a friend who is both an American and a British citizen. His mother was born and raised in Scotland. He has lived in both countries and understands the dialect quite well. I asked him questions about the Scottish accent as a form of research, plus looking up Scottish colloquialisms on line.

For Baldric, I have been looking at Youtube videos about Yorkshire accents and sites that have Northern British phrases. Yorkshire dialect

Well I want him to sound interesting, but not tacky/cheesy. I've seen too much British comedy to know where the line is.

Also, gotta say, my most recent post is really weak, especially the last paragraph (not the last line). It's all too flimsy and the scene isn't set very well, mostly because I don't know what the stables look like and I'm too scared to assume.

@Mattchstick When I bump into something I don't know, I usually google it. So I just googled horse stables. The first immages I saw were of children's toys. LOL The next group of images which filled up the first page were of immaculate beautiful horse stables owned by elite billionaires. Neither of these examples would be accurate.

I remember visiting my grandfather's farm as a child. He had cows. I know horses don't use stanchions like cows, but they do get their own space and there is a lot of hay on the floor. One more thing, it stinks to holy hell. Someone needs to shovel the poo out of the area where they do their business every day and usually more often than once a day. There are large wooden bins containing corn or whatever feed the horses eat besides hay. There are usually individual buckets available for water. There will also be a tackle barn nearby where the horse's bit, barding, tackle, saddles (all leather goods) as well as any other accoutrements would be available for steeds used in combat in this setting.

Depends what you mean by 'old English' - Cedric actually being invented by Sir Walter Scott for a character in his novel 'Ivanhoe', though based on the possibly Brythonic name Cerdic - meaning, in short, that he'd probably sound quite Germanic, as that is what Old English is. If on the other hand you mean 'sharp English' as in upper class/RP English, then he'd sound more like a 1950's newsreader or the Queen.

To be honest, given the time period setting of this RP (roughly 1200s to 1400s), he'd pobably be speaking like Geoffrey Chaucer; here's a little example of his work from his famous Canterbury Tales...

"Whan that Aprill with his shoures soote
The droghte of March hath perced to the roote,
And bathed every veyne in swich licour
Of which vertu engendred is the flour;
Whan Zephirus eek with his sweete breeth
Inspired hath in every holt and heeth
The tendre croppes, and the yonge sonne
Hath in the Ram his halve cours yronne,
And smale fowles maken melodye,
That slepen al the nyght with open ye
(So priketh hem nature in hir corages),
Thanne longen folk to goon on pilgrimages."

- (General Prologue, 1–12)

To summarise, I wouldn't give too much of a worry and, unless you're very much wanting to be 'time accurate', I'd just stick to modern English. Being as you say a 'common peasant' though, it is probable that he'd be using simple words, being unable to read or write, and have difficulty understanding people using flowery language.

Dialect wise, well, you'd need a distinct area of Britain to find that out - contrary to popular belief, there is no 'British/English accent'.

Hope this helps, if you've got any questions then feel free to ask.

@GuntherAlright well I bounced around on Google images and I can't find any that seem to make sense. I found something that looks like it would make sense but idk if it would in a city, unless the stables are outside. Frankly I don't particularly want to give a description of it so I might just wait for the GM before making that paragraph a little better.

@JbcoolI'm not going for a stereotypical English accent at all. I was leaning towards something more subtle. Vocabulary-wise I like the idea of just using modern English. Accent-wise, I don't even know at this point. "Sharp English" just meant modern English.

Basically Matt Kirshen rather than Andy Wood in the first ten seconds of this video.

Fair enough, good choice hombre.

Although, if you really want to make him a peasant, I suppose you could just make him a cockney - Hollywood seems to like that.

Everyone loves 'em.
