Wow. That would be almost half of my country' population - maybe will trim it down a bit.

How many percent would you think would live in the urban areas then?

So, is it possible. That the Kaiser declared my Oberst Hurst - Duke and have him create a Duchy in West Afrika? Since I assume, the other alternative was having a second Afrikan Kaiser or likely all of the German colonies joining the Afrikan Kaiser? Or rather, having him to it regardless - but this way he'd have some sort of Imperial legitimacy.

As a passing note in German imperial administration: the German Empire recognized the rule of internal kings up into and through the First World War up until the Empire's dissolution and transformation into the Weimar Republic. So if you want to somehow manage to claim that Hurt finangled his way into being called "King in Africa" in much the same way the Kaiser was at the same time "Emperor of Germany" and "King in Prussia" to make him distinctive from "the King in Bavaria" it'd be possible.

I say this because frankly the land claims are fairly large, notably larger than most major kingdoms. But it's up to Shyri.

Should be only about 15-20 percent

I doubt they'd do that. Bavaria and Bohemia were special political circumstances in that Bavaria had been a Kingdom and was restored in that right by Napoleon, and Bohemia is an ancient Kingdom who's elevation to Kingship has roots in Catholic tradition. I kinda thought that making it a Duchy would be pushing it but figured we could let it in for flavor, but the Kaiser making an African colony into a Kingdom would be waaay out there in outer space.

Seems like a good idea, defying the Ottomans (who had previously ruled Algiers until 1830) is something a fairly anti-Imperial Algerian Islamic State would do. Maybe not open defiance but there would be thin ice between the two nations (though not as much as France of course)

I'm okay with this. After the Ottomans lost Arabia, there surely would be contenders for the Caliphate but the Turks and maybe some others still recognise Osman IV as the Caliph.

Great ^_^ Might make Algeria's goal to becoming a modernist Caliphate to gain more recognition and power. So there'll be some contention for the position of Caliph definitely. (The more I'm looking into things, the more I'm leaning towards the Algerians disputing Osman IV's Caliphate but not trying to become a Caliphate because caliphates are monarchies and they simply believe that the Ottoman Caliphate is disputable)

If they declared it during the Civil War, Germany would've accepted it, if only to keep yet another group from revolting and separating from the state. Then after Wilhelm IV took over, he probably wouldn't have disputed it because there's no point to after 20-30 years of them holding the title. Though, to mainland Germans, it'd probably be seen as more of on honorary title than an actual one.

@Shyri

What is the state of the Kaiser of Afrika and his lands?

His lands would be Tanganyika, Malawi, and the north half of Mozambique lying northwest of the Zambezi river (most of it that is, the border following the Zambezi river up to the southern most tip of Malawi, then following the border of Malawi). He probably doesn't rule Zanzibar (historically when Tanganyika mixed with Zanzibar it took the name of Tanzania. Since we're still calling it Tanganyika, I'm guessing Zanzibar is independent or an unannexed protectorate.) They are bordered on the North by the Swahili People's Republic (rped by myself), in the south by Rhodesia (RPed by Wyrm), and in the west by whatever is happening in Zambia, the Congo, Rwanda, and Burundi.

Who the Kaiser is hasn't been established... until right now. Paul Von Lettow-Vorbeck historically lived until 1964, so he could very much be alive, but in 1960 he'd be 90 years old. This means that if he is alive, he's probably either stepped down or put all real power in the hands of his successor. His successor is most likely a son. His grandson is a character living in Ethiopia, who I'll probably retcon as the Ambassador from Tanganyika.

With Wyrm and myself bordering Tangaynika, and now elements of your own situation based on what is going on there, Imma go ahead and assume Tanganyika is now a full fledged NPC nation and those of us with connections to it can make up details. So lets say Rüdiger von Lettow Vorbeck is currently the Kaiser and that Paul retired. This'll mean the von Lettow-Vorbeck family tree is something like...

Kaiser Paul - Martha Wallroth
^
Kaiser Rudiger - ? Arnd - ? Heloise Ursula
