Welcome Onboard

The SS Manta

1902, New York Dock yards,
2 years ago, the bosses of the Manta Lines founded this company, 2 weeks ago the Manta was finished, she is now moored along side of her terminal. Her new black and red paint shine in the early morning light.

Now furnished with the luxuries expected of Liners. She is awaiting a crew, and her first passengers. While she waits she seems to be pulling at her ropes, begging to depart, for Brest France, and onto Portsmouth England.

Extra info, Rules, CS

Good, you sat through that short story.
I am a pretty Lax GM, believing that the GM should be a guiding force not the god who tells the story. The story is the players story. But even though I am lax I still have rules, 1. Don't be rude to each other, not even as a joke. I want everyone to feel welcome here, sure your characters can have conflicts, in fact I encourage it, it adds to the realism, but if you have a problem with another player bring it up with me and the person, in PMs. 2. If you need to take a LOA (leave of absence) that's fine, I understand life comes first. But please let us know so we aren't waiting on you. 3. I want well rounded characters, not these shallow talking husks. On to some background info, the early 1900s were the golden age of transatlantic ocean lines. The ships were filled with every luxury available, but were different when compared to the modern cruise ships, these liners were basically big multiday ferries. Okay, "New York to Portsmouth in seven days", I want that phrase to be included in your CS to show that you have read the rules.

Hmm..

I wanted to do a engineer, maybe a 2nd or 3rd engineer, does more day to day running of thr ship. Can always be about on off shifts and maybe updating upper class passengers of changes to time table, speed or such.
So more of a practical role than the chief engineer who sits about doing more a paperwork :)

Also might sometimes have to smooth some of the more upset passengers on upper decks.

Age: 45

Role: Crew, Second Engineer below the chief Engineer.

Image:

Final Destination: aboard ship for a 3 month on, 3 month off rotation.

Background: Newly promoted to second engineer of the new SS Manta, formerly aboard one the liners smaller class vessels the SS Falkirk as its cheif engineer. Born in England to Navy family of 3 and following tradition of serving at sea.

Born near the Port of Dover to a long standing family tradition of sea service going back generations, alongside a older Brother and younger sister. His father was a officer in the Navy and away for months at a time. Following the traditional path he enlisted in the Naval college and soon gravitated to specialise in Engineering and the mantianece of machines. Earning a solid certification and letters of reference from his teachers Gregory Smith was soon apcepted as a junior Engineering officers for White Star. Though this would not be forever and soon was offered work on the SS Mount Rose, later staying with the Liners down the years and rising to the Manta's second Engineer.

Having excelled in previous ships including the SS Falkirk, SS North Star and SS Mount Rose. He was assigned to the crew of the Manta after a 25 year career working for various liners and ships. Known to be a hard task master in regard to safety and insistence to scedules. Walks with a slight limp given a acidident aboard another vessel in his 30's.

As a senior officer aboard has access to passenger decks and the first class levels, as long as in proper officers dress uniform. Always willing to reassure passengers they will manage New York to Portsmouth in seven days.

Unmarried though not though lack of chances, the long months at sea put heavy strain on these engagements and these courtship ended. Not uncharitable or uncaring he sends back a portion of his earnings to his sister after the loss of her husband to help keep them in good means and ensure the children's education and future is preserved.

OK.. I'm not sure if this needs expanding or upgrading, I'm perfectly willing to expand it.

(to be expanded and properly non mobile spell checked)

@ZoeMcQueen95 a little more meat would be appreciated.

@PrinceAlexus looks good, just a heads up you have some grammar errors, and maybe some more info before the Manta.

Also both of you may want to reread the rules section, there is a key thing that both of you are missing.

Oh yeah.. I see now. Il edit that in when I need to.

I was mostly just checking what you thought at first, I was not sure how much detail to add etc.

I wanted to get a sketch up so I could expand.
