The Grey Faction is the smallest of all the factions within the legion ( Your Faction ). They reside in a small building several leagues away from the Heart District. Far enough away to not bring shame to the magistrate, but close enough to be held on a tight leash. Those who work in the Grey live close by or in their building with a total of twenty members who come and go as they wish. Every day the notice board in the main hall is updated with bounties, assassinations or intrigue missions. They aren’t usually worth much because of the lack of honor detailed in the mission. Often times its only enough to support their meager living expenses.
As of late in the Empire there has been an increase in corruption a Ink born illness. Almost doubling since the last century. The Grey Faction had been tasked with its investigation. Every trail or clue found lead them to a dead end. A suspect had risen up through the various lines of search. Their pseudo name was “The Broken King.” They hadn’t been able to track them down or their hideout. But almost a quarter of all corruption cases lead them to “The Broken King.”
This RP centers around “The Grey Faction” where you are a disgraced legionnaire. Your job is to do the dark bidding of the magistrate. Often working in teams or groups. Other than the various odd jobs the main task for the Grey Faction is in the investigation as to why the Corruption cases have been increasing and to figure out how the “Broken King” is involved.
This will be somewhat Adventure and Slice of life. Where as we live out the lives of our character and also investigate the Broken King. I sort of want this RP to have several Arcs the first one will be the Broken King, and from there more will be planned hopefully with a Co-GM eventually. I want the Tone of the RP to be set by the players. I want cliques to try and be avoided but if your set on it I’ll take it into consideration. Your character should be someone unique to you or your style of general character. Something you can roleplay with ease and feel good with.
If there is enough interest ( 4-5 people ) I'll get to making the Story Thus Far. In Reality, I had a dream last night and this is pretty much what it was about and I thought it would be a great RP.
If there are any questions please feel free to ask me or PM me. I'm going to continue working on this maybe flushing out some details. If something doesn't make sense please let me know.
The dawn breaks across the massive city. The golden rays showering the streets. It’s a mix of cultures, stories and realms. Buildings that seem to reach into the heavens lit up by electricity, houses which are cobbled together from stone and mortar lit by lamps and torches. Horse carts and cars mingling in the streets Fantastic flying contraptions and ships soaring through the air. The city scape stretches past the horizon, forests dotting its interior. The denizens of the city come in all forms and art styles. Each one unique to their origin. Each inhabitant drawn for a story, or a picture. They fill the streets day in and day out living their lives intermingled with the other stories. They provide the life blood of the city, flowing and ebbing. The streets flow from pavement, to cobble to dirt and back again. There are electric street lamps, magic lamps, torch lit, and oil lamps. No one can remember far back enough to the creation of The Capital Zone. It has been and will always be. Outside The Capital Zone lays many realms each one unique in its own way. Some Feudal, some medieval, some futuristic or even apocalyptic. All of them governed by their own set of laws, and cultures.
The Realms are governed by the Grand Magistrate. The Grand Magistrate’s head quarters are located in the heart of the city, also known as the Heart District. The district is built from marble like that of the Romans. The Grand Magistrates Palace, built ever upwards trying to reach beyond the heavens. Its construction never truly finished. The interior lavishly decorated with the most exquisite paintings, busts, and exhibits. Several elevator shafts carry passengers to various stages of the building. There is no one elevator that can carry a person to the top. Each one stopping where the previous project had stopped, and new ones built to bring occupants further. The building houses all of the government and their families, much like a massive ancient skyscraper. The Magistrate himself lives always at the ever-expanding top. They sit behind a white rat mask accented with simple gold lines to give it the look of the animal. The Magistrate creates laws and passes judgment out on the realms their own private army protecting the Heart District and the Grand Palace. The Capital Zone Legion enforces the laws on the realms and carry’s out all military and police actions.
The legion as the Palace are ever expanding as new zones are created or discovered. Bringing the Grand civilization to the lands they discover and eventually peace. Those who serve rotate in duties most of the time, while a select few are kept in permanent position or places.
The White Faction goes on grand conquests always expanding the empire. Their main objective to bring the new realms into the fold of the Grand Magistrate. Armed with an array of weapons training and tactics they’re the most formidable fighting force to have even been created. Each soldier lives by an honor bound code, similar to chivalry or bushido. Soldiers often spend great stretches of time away from their homerealms.
The Green Faction patrols the realms enforcing peace. Their ranks are filled with legionaries coming off rotation. Each member returns to their home realm to patrol, and enforce. They travel in groups of two, armed with stun weapons of best suited to their skills. The Green faction policing officers deal with the day to day lives of all of the denizens. They settle disputes, and often direct traffic.
The Blue Faction The Grand protectors of the Heart District and the Grand Magistrate. The elite of the Legion assigned forever in the heart district with ultimate access and privileges. To be assigned to the Blue Faction is the greatest honor any member of the legion can attain. Only bestowed up on the most prominent houses or warriors. Those who have business within the District keep a wary eye out for the Blue faction, their tempers can be hot and their honor easily stained.
The Grey Faction are the sullied of the legion. Having not committed such a great crime as to warrant death or exile they’re forced to serve within the Grey. Given jobs that are deemed unworthy for the regular soldiers. Such as bounty hunting, assassination, or spying. In their own right they’re considered elite. The best in doing the dark desires of the Grand Magistrate. They Answer only to handlers from the Blue Faction who act as the voice of the Grand Magistrate themselves. The Grey faction is the smallest of the legion, but are considered to be the least trustworthy and honorable.
Currency The entirety of the Grand Magistrate’s economy is based off of The Ink. Used for creation in the realms. The Ink can craft anything into existence. Most use it for foods or simple goods. The user conjures an imagine into their mind and with the stroke of their brush, and a few simple lines what they desire comes to being. The durability and quality are based off the experience the user has in craft what ever good they desire. Crafters spend their whole lives building their experience and honing their skills to make their goods. The base currency is a single capsule filled with ink. They hold enough for a quarter sized Bloch. Most citizens trade the ink for goods they need.
General Information The plane of existence these people live on are collectively known as Mirror Worlds. Created by artists and story tellers from all ages. This is where their creations live. In the Mirror Worlds they are blissfully unaware of where they came from or how they appeared. Only referring to the unseeable creators as their gods, or god. Each character is unique in their beliefs and ideals, but in the Grand Magistrate they all have to serve a purpose. The authors of such creations live on unaware of their own creations. Just as those created have no idea of their creators.
Data Pads and Viewing In the Mirror worlds everyone sees each other as three dimensional as well as the objects they interact with. To them their world appears as ours does, but with more colors and abstract concepts. Their lines from creation can’t be seen with out using a special tool designed by The Grand Magistrate. They’re called Data pads, and they allow those in the service of the government and the legion. The Data pad is unique as the person who owns it. When held up to a citizen it shows the 2D lines or “creation lines” used to create them. Useful for seeking corruptions, wounds or anything hidden on the person. Objects drawn by a creation appears to the side of the creation making searches quick and efficient. A few beings can transition between their Creation Lines and Regular form although it is unwise to do so.
Death and old Age The Creations can never die of old age, but can succumb to corruption, wounds or erasure. Those drawn as children or young adults eventually do grow up to their adult form. Some take longer than others, but unless they’re drawn as old they never reach the blue hair state.
Weapons and Damage The weapons cause ink damage. If not tended to by a skilled healer or doctor the person can succumb to their wounds losing all of their life blood. It can be a costly to heal or repair the damaged lines. When struck by a weapon the 3D character takes the damage as a normal human would. But their 2D character receives a wound that can not heal naturally. If left unattended all of their life blood can drain out. Corruption happens when too many modifications happen to the original 2D character. They begin to split in personality and are deemed too dangerous to live by the Empire and sentenced to death. If left unattended the Character can turn into an abomination where all sentients leave it becoming a wild beast, hunting and kill all other creations. A sign of the Corruption is where their 3D form becomes unstable parts of their body will shift or seem blurry. In some rare cases a black blotch appears somewhere on their body. There are rumors that there is another cause of corruption, where a creation is around for too long they slowly corrupt due to the amount of memories they have.
When someone is executed they are erased from existence in Erasure. Even memories of the person are affected. They are difficult to recall, families often have small shrines dedicated to their dead.
Weapons are also personalized and often called stylists. They can change form to suit the users need. Such as a pistol can turn to a sword or a shield. They use ink to deal damage, to their intended foes by ruining their Creation lines. It is said that at the heart of the Grand Palace there Is a small room where a black well resides. A source to all of the Ink in the Grand Magistrate. If other sources are found they are prominently capped and harvested for those regions, only being distributed by the local magistrate with a majority portion headed back to the Capital Zone.
Name: Age: (Appearance wise) Character Description: (I prefer a written description over a picture ) Personality: (Tell us who you are) Origin: (What was your Authors intended Origin) History: (How you came to the Grand Magistrate, or where your homeland was and other information) Grey Order: (Reason your character was forced into the Grey order) Place of Residence: (Describe your room in the Grand hall, or what your residence is like outside of the Grand Hall)
Super interested. Just a couple questions; Do we have to be a creation or can we be a normal person? Whats the lifespan of a creation? Is there any ranks inside the the faction? (i.e. captain, lieutenant etc.)
So Champion, basically it's an alternate world where everyone's drawings and stories have come alive. We would be unaware of the creators. So the Creations can be a normal person. I used creation in an attempt not to confuse people with the real world. If that makes any sense. There would be ranks among the factions just like a normal military I'm actually flushing them out as we speak so great question. Basically, I'm struggling with names for the ranks. I was thinking about using normal Legion ranks but I can't find one for anything for the common foot soldier.
And basically, creations are immortal, or so we'd be led to believe. They have an incredibly long lifespan but there are suspicions that if a person gets too old they would start to corrupt and eventually have to be put down or even die.
Legatus,Kaz So basically in the Mirror Worlds We would see each other as we do in Real life. That's the 3D aspect, but because we would be drawings or characters from stories. We actually also have a 2D image that's hidden by our 3D image. The 2D image would be like a rough sketch of what we look like, and it would be how we're healed(Fixing creation lines) or we could be modified by adding new ink to it. It is also what can take damage if getting attacked ect, ect. If that makes sense? If not I'll try and explain it a little more.
Yeah, I second Kaz in saying that that is a creative concept. No need to remove it, really. @TheHeretic, as for the ranks for the regulars who actually fought in formation during the Roman period, I believe that the lowest rank available in a Roman Legion is the Decanus, which is a commander of an 10-man unit, two of whom are helpers, the other eight are foot soldiers. The next lowest would be the Optio, who command 60-man units, so essentially similar to a Lieutenant or Captain in the modern era. Then, of course, there's the more popular Centurion, who command 100 men each (but there are different types of Centurions in the Roman Legions), 20 of whom are helpers, and the remaining eighty are foot soldiers. The most popular subtype of Centurion is the Primus Pilus, who commands a double-strength cohort instead of a single century, which is 800 soldiers and 200 helpers. I hope that helped at least a bit.
@LegatusAugustus Yea that helps a lot actually. I'm in the process of building the Introduction/Story Thus far. And then I'm going to tweak a few details. If you all are interested you can go ahead and submit a character, I think by tomorrow I'll have everything better organized and ready for RP. And of course, anyone after can always jump in if they wish.
Name: Sorscha Age: Ninteen Character Description: Sorscha has shoulder length brown hair with a golden shine to it when caught in the morning light. Her hair as a natural wave in it after being washed but it is often found to be pulled back tightly in a high ponytail or clean bun to reveal her sharp cheek bones and strong jaw. Her sea green eyes are matched with the gold flakes found in her hair and are often found searching the others around her for answers. She isn't exactly tall but she isn't short either coming in at a round 5'6" and weighs around 140lbs. She has some weight to her but the majority of it is toned muscle which seems to shine more against her olive complexion. During the summer months freckles can been seen starting to show along the mask of her face, although she detests these it gives her a younger look, perfect for lying low or undercover missions. Sorscha wears a size seven shoe and her hands are average inside but have a hidden strength beneath the callouses and odd smoothness. Personality: Quiet, protective, loyal. Sometimes loyalty can get you in more trouble than telling the person to get bent. And with Sorscha's history you would think she wouldn't show loyalty to anyone. Sorscha is fiercely loyal but that loyalty is not easily earned; however, once it is earned you will forever have someone on your side. Her quietness can be seen as distance or introverted but in all reality she is listening, she is gathering information to be used at a later date. This way of blending into backgrounds helps her to discover information on people she is searching for for the Magistrate and information on who she is working with; who she can trust, who she can be loyal to. The protective nature she has can be found in almost everyone working for the Magistrate, they are all here to protect something. When you get on Sorscha's good side you get to see a calculated side, a side that is constantly asking questions with brief glimpses of a more feminine smile rather than her constant impish one. Needless to say, you want Sorscha on your side. Who knows what she can tell others about you. Origin: (What was your Authors intended Origin) History: (How you came to the Grand Magistrate, or where your homeland was and other information) Grey Order: (Reason your character was forced into the Grey order) Place of Residence: Her room is simply, organized chaos. Depending on what she is sent out to do will depend on the condition of her room and whether she had to leave in a hurry, leaving her room in upheaval or left in a timely manner; therefore able to clean as she gathers. She has a small desk set beside her bed and on the desk always contains a notebook with an assortment of coloured markers for her writing. In one corner a book shelf sits and you can find anything from poetry to history texts on the ever changing lands. Her walls are covered with either landscape or architecture photos and drawings. It is Sorscha's escape, a small place allotted to her and only for her use so it is her sanctuary.
