@King Cosmos As much as I love Discord, I want to keep this on RP Guild as it also keeps the thread alive and the discord server would just be sitting there doing nothing. plus we don't get anything out of having a discord over this
Jokes aside, while I'd have liked a little more creativity in the card choices.
I kind of don't get how your number 1 relates to his deck, though, if I may be entirely honest. Nor dancing, nor the moon nor cute monster girls seem to be a key part of Lance and I don't feel like someone who only tries as hard as they need to for their goals falls in line with that deck. If anything I'd see him play something a lot slowe.
In terms of constructive criticism I'm interested in what card choices you might have made for the deck. Your criticism on both points is definitely valid, I did make Lance and then give him a deck that I found fun. With that in mind I might re-arrange my characters a bit, not entirely sure what I want to change it to but I know I want to change it.

I'll get back to you on this depending on whether or not you try to shuffle things around, but generally, I spend about 20 minutes brainstorming on YGOrpo and taking note of the most interesting cards I can find.
It's also worth looking at the wiki, using the support categories (e.g. "Fiend-type support cards") to find some interesting options you wouldn't otherwise. Until I searched for DARK-type support, I forgot the Virus cards existed and didn't even know they'd made another one (Full Force Virus).
You're thinking of Grinning Grave Virus, which'll come out in Lair of Darkness on April 20th in the TCG.
That's the one. I don't know why, but I was thinking that was a Darklord deck; I don't think the new cards are actually part of an archetype though, they just all work well together.

Well, the new cards are very dark-centered, so it makes sense I guess lol. It's going to be very strong for a structure deck, probably on-par if not better than the Dinosaur one. (Which wrecked the TCG for awhile) with a few meta adjustments.
We'll probably see a new banlist late-april, too. Hopefully like the OCG we get Shaddoll Construct unbanned.
Yeah, that's another Virus card that's pretty devastating (Hell, all of the Virus cards are painful to get hit with, depending on the deck you're playing). Nowadays it's not difficult to get monsters on the field to use any of them, either.

I haven't played Yu-Gi-Oh or even followed it for a couple years now; I stopped back when the first Kozmo cards were first being released. I don't know what the current meta looks like but the Lair of Darkness deck does look interesting and very strong. A field spell that makes it so that you can tribute your opponents monsters, something that nothing really has a defense against except this decks boss monster, for their own effects is crazy.
Plus, if I am reading the effects right, the fact that you can tribute a dark monster you control to search the boss dragon, then immediately summon that dragon because you tributed a dark monster this turn, because the boss does not have to have been in your hand when the tribute was made to be able to activate the self summon effect.
I can see the field card being limited if this deck does well and maybe the search monster as well.

Lair of Darkness is a pretty good field spell, as with the tribute effect of Diabolos it basically becomes a potential hand-loop /w Kaiju tribute effect stacked on top of it. The single token isn't a big disadvantage to use the tribute effect on your opponent's turn anyways, and on your turn you get a free token for potentially nuking one monster your opponent has, while also making them put a card back in the deck. Even while down to 1 this card could be really good.
Diabolos is just -super- easy to get out. That being said, it's not the be-all end all boss monster. Ultimate Conductor Tyranno is even easier to summon and easily outs Diabolos by either flat-out destroying it in battle or by flipping it (As U.C.T doesn't target with it's flip effect) Though in return if Lair is active then Diabolos can just tribute U.C.T. and call it a day. Though Dinos can combo heavily, so they'll possibly already bait out your effect or use U.C.T as bait for it then make extensive plays.
It'l require some testing though it's looking strong for this year. Pend magicians are getting hit hard, so along with Zefra and Dinos this deck could get high in the tiers with some tinkering. Curious to see the plays people think of.
We're opening up on a duel which is going to be pretty rigid, but don't worry too much about it. It'll be rigid for only 1-2 posts or so and after that we're letting you guys loose and free.
Appearance Lance is a lanky fellow, standing at 6 feet two inches, not quite thin but certainly not muscled. His silver hair sprawls out over his shoulders and seems to be only lazily kept in check. His pale blue eyes seem reminiscent of a clear sky and can be seen filled with good cheer. As a member of Light Dorm and a natural performer he tends to look rather flashy, which accessories similar to that of his monsters.
Personality Lance is a great person to be around. He's always fun to talk to, never takes anything too seriously, and speaks his mind. Always ready with a joke or a bit of advice. One might say he's a bit eccentric as he tends to over-bling himself. He lives for the thrill of a duel, watched or played, and enjoys announcing them, either out loud or to himself. He's nearly impossible to anger but he can be a bit annoying if you aren't ready for him. He can of course, also be a bit of a flirt, though he's quick to back off if reprimanded.
Dorm Light
History Lance grew up on watching videos of dueling so it was only natural that he should have an interest in it. But more than that, he grew enamored with the dramatic and suspenseful style of duels he saw. Lance bought some decks and played around to find what fit him best. After a bit of trial and error he found a deck that suited his style quite nicely in it's ability to turn the boards on its head. Naturally anytime he dueled to took over the job of new-caster and announced the events of the duel as they happened to make them more exciting. One student found this trait rather annoying and attempted to defeat Lance in a duel to get him to stop. The student in question only becoming more angry when Lance was able to seemingly fend him off with ease. Even more so when Lance wouldn't respond to his angry insults and jibes, save for with more commentray. In general Lance found dueling, both watching and playing, to be the greatest thing ever. He took to watching a student named Akane who seemed to try quite hard but never seemed to have much luck. Lance tutored her a bit and pointed out some strategies she could use to preform better. He also avoided dueling her directly, pointing out that it would be better to test his strategies on someone other than himself. The two began to hang out together, even while not talking about Duel Monsters. At some point he found out that Akane was planning on attending Haromnia academy and decided to go himself.
The exam wasn't too troublesome but Lance didn't try very hard either, nestling himself comfortably in 5th place, where he remained until the end of the 2nd year. Gaku, having known him since elementary continued his tradition of dueling constantly, but never officially, during which time Gaku slowly pulled his rating up until he made it to 3rd. Akane didn't really know why Lance didn't bother trying to get rated when he could clearly make it into the top 5 but dismissed it as one of his eccentricities. At the end of the 2nd year Lance made his move and dramatically ascended to 1st place from practically unknown near the end of the year, climbing past Gaku and Akane, both of which were upset in their own way. He planned on being 1st for his entire 3rd year, as it made for a rather entertaining story. Some might say spending the entirety of his time at the school plotting for this was excessive, but those people didn't properly appreciate a dramatic tale. The underdog who managed to climb his way to the top in his last year from obscurity and hold it against all comers. Yes, this was to be his story!
Traps Lunalight Reincarnation Dance Escape From the Dark Dimension Waboku
Extra Deck Lunalight Fusions
The 4 NPC's
A duelist that puts a lot of thought into what she does and greatly admires those who have skill at the game. Inversely however, she can be scornful of those who lack such skill and don't show sufficient talent, desire to improve, or sheer lack of thought. She's very interested in the game from a mechanical point of view but also enjoys the act of dueling itself. She finds Lance to be rather strange but his skill at the game keeps her around and, well he is a fun guy. Aside from his annoying flirting, that he never seems to do with her.
Appearance: Akane is fairly average height, standing at 5 feet and 5 inches tall. Her brown hair is separated into bangs at the front and it hangs down loosely behind her to the small of her back. She is nearsighted, and wears her red-rimmed glasses most of the time. She tends to wear a sweater as she gets cold easily. When put into a corner she responds with quiet, but fierce resolve.
Deck: Crystron
A hot-blooded duelist who believes that the battle phase is the most important phase and plays accordingly. He doesn't think his actions through most of the time but usually comes out on top regardless. If he losses expect an immediate rematch offer. Gaku has challenged Lance numerous times but fallen short every time. To not see them battle at least once a day is an irregularity. Despite this he's not a bad person and can be seen helping out other students by practice dueling and encouraging them. If he sees something wrong he'll be sure to try to fix it himself.
Appearance: Gaku is a 5 foot tall bundle of energy, rather well muscled, such that he clearly does some sort of exercise regularly. He can always been see moving, even if it's something as small as tapping his foot up and down impatiently in class. His short spiky brown hair makes one think of an energetic hedgehog and his brown eyes match accordingly. There's a small scar on his right cheek from who knows what and tends to wear short, non-restrictive and simple clothing; despite the luxuries available to him in light dorm.
Deck: Amazon
A cheery girl that seems like a bit of airhead at times. She has a bubbly personality and loves to talk, even if no one is listening. She doesn't dwell too much on the game, taking it very lightly, not concerning herself too much with wins and losses. Despite this, she's quite good at the game, enough to place her comfortably in 4th place. She may very well be able to climb further but doesn't show much interest in doing so. Tina is rather kind and makes sure to congratulate her opponent after a duel, regardless of outcome.
Appearance:
Tina is a bit on the short side at 5 feet and 1 inches and light for her size. She tends to wear frilly or extravagant clothing, taking full advantage of her light dorm privileges and bending the rules of the dress code as much as possible.
A light dorm student with a flair for dressing as royally as possible. Don't be fooled by his dashing good lucks however, as those are about the only good thing about him. he can be quite cruel to anyone not from light dorm, or who he feels doesn't belong there with harsh backhanded compliments and outright insults. In a duel he constantly belittles his opponent. He is only 5th because he enjoys crushing anyone who wants to climb the ladder while still being in the top 5, though naturally he proclaims he could be 1st if he tried.
Appearance: Hiroji stands quite tall at 6 feet and is a bit on the thin side, though that often isn't noticed amidst is clothing. His pale yellow hair is slicked back and doesn't make it past his shoulders. He has a charming demeanor, until you get to know him that is. Expensive outfits and jewelry are found on him at all times, as well as a smile that edges on creepy.
@Eklispewell ima assume these fixes were for Ammo's nitpicks and not my not very existant nitpicks plus you were accepted by me anyways if everything is fine on his end after he checks tomorrow alls good
@Eklispe Ye, looks fine to me. You also wanted me to suggest cards, so:
-Moon Mirror Shield: Battle-focused archetype and a moon-based card. -Three Strike Barrier: Lunalight are very battle-focused, so this is a protection trap that slots right in. -The Grave of Enkindling: Bring back Cat or Panther Dancer and use it to fuse the next turn. Bonus points if you combo it with something like Defenders Intersect. -Fusion Guard: Protection for effect damage and gets one of your Lunalight Fusions in the GY. -Tri-and-Guess: Ez 3000 LP against non-fusion users. -Prideful Roar: When all else fails, go full Jack Atlas. This one's just a personal favorite of mine.
Admittedly it's a lot of traps and not a lot of spells because traps are something your deck list didn't seem to have a lot of.
-Moon Mirror is nice but it's awfully counter-intuitive to what lunalights do. That is to say beatsticking the daylights out of them. It's alright on cat dancer I suppose. -This seems like Waboku but harder to use. Admittedly you could get a bit of LP but, I'd rather not worry about my opponent having precisely 3 cards. It is pretty dramatic though... -This is... Pretty alright. -Boy countering effect damage is situationally uselessful, I mean we are running heart of the cards but I'd rather not base my choices off that. I'd prob run Cattle Call over this. -Don't need lp if they're dead right :< -I mean it's a nice card but there are very few situation in which Lunalights are out attacked.
Most traps are based around disrupting your opponent and for the purposes of drama/Lance's style/having fun it's best to let you and your opponent simply clash with the full strength of your respective decks.
Thank you for the card suggestions though. The Grave of Enkindling is something I've never seen/heard of and is actually ok, while Three Strike Barrier and Prideful Roar were also unknown to me. ^.^
@Eklispe I'm just a fan of using strictly worse cards as they tend to lead to more interesting situations. It's why you have stuff like Desperate Maneuver in ZeXal while Kaito could've just used Shrink, it advances the gamestate in a way that isn't just strictly positive.
Also, not banking on the heart of the cards is like, totally missing the point here.
