Yeezus can support whoever he wants to support (and he didn't support Trump afaik, he just says he likes his DRAGON POWER, which I'm pretty sure we can all see what he means by DRAGON POWER) and the outrage is incredibly undemocratic. It just goes to show how heavily ingrained it has been in the black community/people that they have to vote democrat, or vote nothing at all.

Far more interesting was Chance the Rapper's reaction, who said that blacks don't have to vote democrat (or something in that line, paraphrasing from memory). Chance has been a big community hero in Chiraq... ahem.... Chicago for a while now and has performed a lot of great feats for the city, so by all means he is sort of a community hero on the same level of Yeezus... so I was sort of amazed at how all your good, selfless deeds mean absolutely nothing and you'll still get people accusing you of support a racist regime just for not voting democrat (and for the record, Yeezus has never said he didn't vote democrat, just said that he enjoys Trump's DRAGON POWER!!!!).

Land of the free, spreading liberty and democracy everywhere, while it dies in your own country. As an outside spectator, I have to admit, American politics is like a really really bad TV show with really really bad actors.

I'll just continue enjoying my favorite artists' work for what it is, and not the underlying political content I imagine he supports.

Also, lolled hard as fuck at Kanye's follow up tweet:

Kim Kardashian called me and told me to let you guys know I don't have to support everything he does or says!!!!

@mdk ethnicities shun their own members for voting a certain way - it's the pillarization all over again. It's very undemocratic in my eyes.

@Odin

To be clear, I love Kanye's support for Trump. The 'dragon energy' comment is something I love, this whole thing is something I love. Not to read too far into it, but I wonder if Kanye was making a reference to Lao Tzu - particularly the story about how Confucius stated he could not understand Lao Tzu because Lao Tzu "is a dragon".

ANYWAY, it could just be they're both doing the fusion dance and going Super Saiyan God mode, but that's just my top tier analysis going on here.

Also, I very much agree with you on the undemocratic social sphere of censorship we have going on. While legal free speech is wonderful, and in the USA it's generally superior to every country from what I've seen...

The social sphere of censorship, especially within the confines of media, advertisers, and social media platforms... might be the largest issue the world faces today. I'm not yet sure how it should be addressed, but the shadow bannings and algorithm shifts on these social media sites is highly undemocratic, extremely dangerous to free speech/free thought, and possibly unconstitutional and illegal.

We live in a hell of a world right now.

Can't speak for that dude, but I never disliked Kanye. Wasn't a massive fan of his music, but I liked a few songs here and there.

@Gwynbleidd Hmm! I was well aware you enjoyed him. I think Kanye is a really great person and I have a lot of doubt that he supports Trumps' actual policy. But I can really respect it that Kanye is capable of separating Trumps' persona and politics and all the other parts.

You can love someone's energy and hate what they do with that energy.

I am skeptical that they never got that working - NK is sort of known for having connections to all kinds of shady people and 'miniaturized nuke' theory has been around for, well, a while so it's possible someone told them how for a lotta money or other stuff. But again, it's possible. The lack of real knowledge on our end (you and me) makes it really hard to estimate what they do and don't know, what is a facade and what isn't, etcetera. NK has surprised us in the past before - I would not be surprised in the slightest if they had an ace up their sleeve.

Possible but they also seem to have exhausted there test site.

Probbly not see new tests there.

Ans yes, NK are not fools, there silly but dangerous none the less. All Kim wants to do is keep power at end of day. Maybe it can calm of he feels more stable in return for not threatening nuclear war every 5 minutes.

They even dropped a barrier to talks with US potentially recently.

Kanye is a giant ego, full of himself and so.

But is he any worse than the rest of a Hollywood and so... Or different. No.he just has a different opinion and he loves drama!

I think our newest Kim might be throwing around the country and is looking to maintain his dictatorship position through diplomacy rather than threats. US barriers aren't the only ones being dropped, if you look at the countries TV shows for example, they are showing a progression towards family and other types of entertainment rather than the straight-up propaganda (ofcourse, the shows we have even now are still propaganda, but it's a move in a more... western standard). Things are changing but I feel it is hard to predict what they are changing to.

@POOHEAD189 its relevant to the convo, and its not even a meme stillgray is in a long list of right wingers, who was against kanye for being part of the 'liberal elite' and bitching about the comments he made about bush. But suddenly now its great that he 'has his own opinions'. The right's relationship with Kanye has always been odd, and I'm pointing it out,

True. Kim had changed things a bit. He is a odd one. He has brought things forward but been hard line as hell and far more aggressive than dad.

Kim and Trump... For some very strange reason I think they may atchually meet... There both wild cards who very diffrent to nations norms.

And lpl.

Kanye is a giant meme at times. But the guys entitled to belive what he wants. His clothes though... Abit... Strange to say the least!

Eh, I figure it's not my place to tell anyone how they're SUPPOSED to feel about anyone. The black vote (insofar as there can be said to BE a "black vote") has gone Democrat for a loooooooong time, and the black community in general is much more knit together than the white one at least, probably most others as well. If Kanye's announcement shocks people from that community, that's their prerogative, and I wouldn't ever call it "undemocratic."

That said.... it's not something I admire in another person, either. The whole concept of 'shunning' is ugly no matter where it's coming from. Just possibly, nonstop seething from the media brings this out in people. *shrug*. My point being.... idunno, let's not be dramatic, I guess? It's Kanye.

It did not, from the other mod's perspective. I wanted a discussion thread back after I became a mod, but I'd need to monitor it because of all of the previous personal attacks/drama from the last one.

Right, obscure references to vaguely right wing maybe maybe not people aside, is there anything interesting going on elsewhere in the world?

It's kingsday here at the moment which is naturally the best time to discuss whether we should keep or abolish the monarchy here. It's a distinctively Dutch problem since, well, our monarchs have always been... sorta like the average Joe except with a lot more money paid by us, the people. I can see pro's and con's to abolishing and keeping him. Him and his family are the face of the Netherlands after all. On the other hand the only thing he ever seems to be doing is going to the Olympics and cheering on the athletes.

IDK. Having some sort of 'country-idiot' that looks goofy and does stupid shit is kinda funny but I can't help but wonder how much we actually spend on this country-idiot.

If I see any evidence that Stillgray/Ian Miles Cheong is 'vaguely right wing' as apposed to regular bog-standard right wing, I'll be sure to edit my post accordingly.

Bill Cosby finally got convicted, another celebrity with an interesting relationship with the left and right. I remember the 'Pro-Cosby' types were made up of both right wingers who felt the allegations were an attack on men as a whole, AND defended by portions of the 'woke left' who felt it was an attack against succesful blacks.

Nothing brings both sides of the isle together like a good conspiracy theory.
