The Sun Will Never Set on The Empire of Light!
... or something
Basic Idea:
There are a lot of superhero rps. There are a lot of superhero universes. There are not a lot of superhero universes set anytime before 1920, as far as I'm aware, even though that period seems like it should yield plenty of fodder for mayhem and silly foreshadowing. I have a general idea for a coalition/government-like organization for superheroes (the Empire of Light?) and a plot, but it would be nice to see if anyone would play before I put too much effort into figuring it out. Also, I have no idea when I would want to set it beyond either North America or the UK somewhere between the beginning of the Renaissance and WWI.
Premise:
Nobody's heard of superheroes, and anything people don't understand is magic. So when a random street urchin is reported to have the ability to read people's minds, it's dismissed as mere rumor. When a young man starts healing people at a touch, he is shunned until someone important finally bothers to have him arrested, and when that old fisherwoman sets a market stall on fire by accident, she's the one set on fire next. Thus the world carries on, ignorant of the mayhem that is to come.
Ignorant, that is, until Mr. Merigold starts to whisper in wealthy ears and Lothea rises to power in the East.
Ignorant until someone stands up to fight them.
