Vampire: The Masquerade 20th edition

Historical Timeline: Chapter 1

1905 — Bloody Sunday: Against the cold mute sky stood the Winter Palace. Oppressive in its riches and a symbol of inequality to the people. Shouts were laying siege at the door, while the aristocrats grew worried. Soon the shouts turned into the screams of the disinherited, as hundreds of peasants were gunned down by imperial forces. The blood soaked soil foreshadowed the events to come.

1905 - Mutiny: The sailors the the Battleship Potemkin rose against the ranks. The Black Sea mutiny triggered mass revolts in Odessa. The riots were crushed on orders of the Tsar.

1907 - Coup of 1907: The Imperial Duma was taken and its powers were dissolved. Many members of the State Assembly were arrested; thus, forever changing electoral law.

1914 - Russia declares war on Germany.

1916 - Rasputin, a close friend of Tsar Nikolas' family, was murdered after several failed attempts.

1917 - The February Revolution: In Petrograd, dissidence boiled over, as protesters clashed with police and Imperial troops. An estimated 1,300 people were killed or injured

1917 - February: Women demand food and an end to the war. Protests soon spread throughout Petrograd.

1917 - March: Tsar Nicholas stepped down and his brother Mikhail refused the throne, which sparked a provisional government lead by Prince Lvov

1917 - April: Lenin returns from exile in a heavily guarded train.

1917 - April: the Milyukov note - A note sent by the provisional government and their intention to continue the war was leaked. The Bolsheviks began to gain support, which led to the resignation of Milyukov; thus, paving the way for the Socialists to hold seats in the provisional government.

1917 - The June Offensive: Alexander Karensky launches an attack against Austria-Hungry. The attack was successful, but word of the Revolution spread through the trenches. Many Soldiers left their post to take part in the redistribution of land in Russia. Shortly afterwards, the Imperial army fell.

1917 - July Days: Armed anti-government action erupted in Petrograd. Lvov stepped down as the leader of the provisional government. Kerensky stomped out the rebellion and reinstated the death penalty and women are given the right to vote and hold office. The revolution failed, which gave way to the arrest of Lenin and many Bolshevik leaders.

Blood in Moscow

News of revolution quickly reached Moscow. The Camarilla grew uneasy as the Brujah began to agitate throughout the city. Some clans listened and started to attack the Venture and Toreador. The Blood Uprising led to a war within the Gangrel territory.

The Followers of Baba Yaga led by Viktor a 9th generation Gangrel and The Freedom Militant Action led by an Anarch Petyor, an 8th generation Gangrel, went to war. The F.M.A accused Viktor's people of being Sabbat scum, while the armies of the Iron hag accused the F.M.A of being mortal sympathizers and traitors to the land.

As the blood of undead and innocent alike streamed down the grimy sidewalks of Moscow, the Venture and Toreador made an uneasy alliance to combat the uprising. Both have been a long time supporter of the Imperial family and neither one of the clans were set to benefit from the revolution.

The safe house was humble. Only a wooden table, a few chairs and a lamp separated it from being a concrete animal den. The walls were dingy and the air smelled of stale blood, a temporary safe haven that now housed fear and defeat.

“We must leave! Yana and her Death Flowers will be here any minute!”

“Cowards! We must strike back!”

“Where’s Pytor?!”

Vampires were arguing and some were preparing to flee, while others were planning a counter-attack.
Belka appeared. Her stoic demeaner contrasted her playful like stature.

“Silence! You all know what to do!”

The room fell silent as quickly as a switch to a radio. Everyone knew that despite Belka’s size, she was to be feared and deeply respected. She has been at Pytor side longer than some of them had been alive and undead. Chaos turned into order. The once bickering revolutionaries organized and began to carry out their tasks.

Belka looked at Vauldis and Valentina.

“Pytor wants to see both of you.”

“They found us! Run!” shouted a comrade. His fangs shined with fear.

The Dotchinye Lyudi opened fire on the safe house. A few vampires grabbed rifles and returned fire. Two were shot in the back of the head while attempting to flee. Blood splattered across Belka’s face.

Out the backdoor! Hurry! Run comrades! There’s too many! Belka shouted.

Bullets continued rip through the door and shatter glass and cheap concrete. The comrades that returned fire were limping away with blood stained limbs. Another, struck with frenzy, was cutdown as he ran out the front door.

Valentina and Vauldis heard gunshots and screams at their backs. Belka led them through muck filled alleys and cold dead city pastures; when they reached the north eastern edge of town, just outside of the Brujah-Gangrel border, they got onto a military carriage and rode off into Garou territory.

The threat of the Garou was in the air only to be enhanced by a rapidly approaching dawn. Fear set in on all riders some expressed it more than others. Belka as stoic as stone turned to Valentina and Vauldis.

“Be ready. We are almost there.”

The carriage stopped in front a bunker. Belka rushed the gangrel and ravnos into the dark concrete hole, closed the door and locked it with a heavy clank.

Day time inched near and hunger had sat in. A small puff of life shivered in the corner of the frozen hideout. It was a miserable bony youth covered in mangy furs. The frightened lamb tried in vain to retreat into the corner of the bunker.
