Personality TraitsPassionate ☆ Artistic ☆ Eccentric ☆ Brusque ☆ Aloof ☆ Lonely
Johnny is what most people call a 'space cadet'. He's often stuck in his head, sitting alone, exploring dream worlds. He's incredibly aloof when talking to those he doesn't know or doesn't like. He has a (self-inflicted) lack of social skills, from limiting the amount of friends he has. He can be quite blunt and rude, though this is unintentional. Though not adept with social cues, he will do his best to apologise if he realizes that he has offended someone. He never means to offend, though his lack of social aptitude means that he is far from popular. His passion, bordering on obsession, for films is incredibly intense, and can occasionally unnerve people.
But it's this passion, not just for movies, but for almost everything, that is possibly his most endearing trait. He has been known to ramble, sometimes for hours, when something has excited him. He has a dry, dark sense of humor, and a gift for story-telling that he is all too happy to share with his friends. The little films he directs in his basement are absurdly unorthodox, though it is clear that he has a talent for directing.
To his friends, he is incredibly loyal, known for doing stupid things to help them, understanding and oddly protective of them. He does not have many friends, and therefore wants to keep all the ones he does have. This lack of friends is partly his fault, he likes to keep people at arms-length, entertaining the common perception that he dislikes most people.
Beneath the facade of liking his solitude, he is extremely lonely. He secretly craves some form of human connection, preferably in the form of a romance. He has dated far more people than anyone at school would expect, and is secretly well-versed in the world of relationships. Though he teases whoever he is dating, he can always be counted on to be there for them, and is much more of a romantic than he seems.
Upbringing SynopsisIt was a cold September day when Johnathan Baxter was taken home from the hospital. Son to Clive, a shipping magnate, and Sheila, a world-class surgeon, brother to Tucker, a mathematical genius, he did not need to be much. Johnny was expected to fall under the radar, according to family friends, and Tuck was clearly going to be the one to shine. He often felt like a mere footnote in his family's history. Thus, his childhood was a fairly dull one for a child born into wealth. He drifted from the company of the rich, often sneaking out to make friends with those who were less privileged. While his brother, like his parents, became snobbish and ignorant, he managed to become well-adjusted.
His attractive features were obvious from the young age of 9, and many people expected him to grow up to become a model. He quickly rejected the idea, deciding that he wanted to do something worthwhile with his life. There was only in question that remained: "What shall I do, then?" It was only when he turned 13, and his father bought him a film for his birthday that he knew what he must do. The film was Paul Thomas Anderson's The Master. From the moment he saw it, he realised what a film could be, and what it could portray. He was going to become a director.
When he turned 15, his family moved from Cambridge to Palm Beach, due to a job offer for his mother. Tucker stayed behind to go to university. Johnny did not like his new home, far from it. He despised the stuck-up, rich kids he encountered when he arrived. He resulted to consuming more films to escape the influences of these people, with the movies of Terrence Malick, The Coen Brothers, Wes Anderson, Stanley Kubrick and PTA becoming firm favourites. It took him a while to adjust, but as soon as he felt more at home in Palm Beach, he started making movies in his basement. Only time will tell when he strikes gold.
