It is absolutely necessary, for the peace and safety of mankind, that some of earth's dark, dead corners and unplumbed depths be left alone; lest sleeping abnormalities wake to resurgent life, and blasphemously surviving nightmares squirm and splash out of their black lairs to newer and wider conquests. -- H.P. Lovecraft
But since when does mankind ever listen to the rantings and ravings of madmen? “Crazy”. “Tinfoil Hat”. “Conspiracy theorists”. All words to describe the men and women who know what lies shivering in the shadows--waiting to emerge and drive the world into chaos.
I’ve had this roleplay rolling around in my head for quite some time now and I’d love to find an advanced and literate partner to play this out! I’d like to take somewhat of a procedural route with this story and focus in on a “secret society” of detectives and law enforcement that keeps the world safe from the hidden things that are best left unspoken.
I’ll be playing the role of my character Mr Damocles--a quirky, “blue collar” wizard and detective (and various other roles) and I’d like someone to play the role of his partner (and various other roles).
What I’m Looking For:
-- An advanced roleplayer that will grow with me as a writer and roleplayer for the long term. I love worldbuilding and developing a beautiful story that grows. Even as stories end, I’d like a partner that will move from story to story over months and years. I prefer communicating over Discord for worldbuilding and I'll create a post in "Advanced Roleplay" for the roleplay itself.
-- You're not opposed to 18+ themes. While the story itself is fantastical and would be filled with odd characters I'd like this story to have an "edge of grit" to it. People die in gruesome ways. Depictions of injuries and maybe even a little bit of big boy words if we're felling really fancy!
-- You're not uncomfortable with religious iconography. Being that this is an urban fantasy full of monsters and magic there will be a lot of religious references. Maybe God is a stand up comedian. Perhaps the Baphomet is running a drug ring.
-- You like side-chatter and aren’t opposed to becoming friends!
BONUS: You like the idea of being seated together and writing back and forth live. I live in MST and spend a good portion of my weekdays on the computer. We can definitely discuss what days and times we can carve out for live roleplaying.
