The world would start right after WWIII ends. For the exact year I was thinking around 20 years from now, possibly more or less. Most people would be in the military, whether that be as a foot solider, pilot(of any kind), or scientist, etc. most of the smaller cities and villages everywhere are completely destroyed and big cities are overrun with people looking for protection anywhere. Southern Europe is literally one gigantic war zone with people fleeing to across the Atlantic to the west or to the north. Governments were getting desperate as they were running out of ideas to stop The War. In the end The losing(although barely) governments decide to nuke the others to oblivion and hope they surrender. The nukes set of a super-volcano in Yosemite National Park that explodes and sends most of the western U.S. into nuclear winter within months. The world is going into shambles and the nuclear winter is creeping around the world slowly. And this, my friends, is where we come in. Escape this dying world without being slowed down by helping too many, and don't get caught by the nuclear winter.
