@CaptainSully the CS looks a little different to what you originally said in regards to items. Instead of 2 rare items and one unique item, are character now only allowed one rare/unique item?

Specific to my plans, if I wanted to give my character a sword that had the ability to destroy projectiles, creating an area of space that blocked further projectiles in the process, would that count as their only artefact?

@KiwiHalcyon there would be some sort of loss retrieval business I guess. Whether it’s just going to the point of your death or maybe even full on bounty hunting the person who looted your body.

@Hellion keep an eye out for the OOC and you’ll have a choice of Corporations when it’s up. You could even create your own if you wanted to, up to you.

@King Cosmos as I said previously the CS is open to change and is just the first iteration. It is likely that I’ll open it up to more items etc, I was just more interested on giving people a rough idea of the worlds background and what sort of things will be in the final version.

In terms of the sword I’m not too sure where it’d slot in, it all depends on how you want it to work. A lot of the higher end gear will have cooldown timers or restrictions to their use. So the sword for example, if he’s stationary he could block all incoming attacks or for two minutes he could have a projectile repelling bubble which would take ten minutes to regenerate.

The restriction on movement would most likely make it a rare item where as the full of ignore all projectiles but still be able to move would make it an artefact.

@CaptainSully it destroys projectiles, as in you need to actually strike the incoming attack to negate it. At the point of destruction it creates a spherical area called an 'Earth Bind' that automatically destroys any projectile that comes into contact it; the 'Earth Bind' would last for maybe 30 seconds or is removed when a second one is created. It also disappears when an enemy comes into contact with it, dealing damage to that enemy.

Basically it has the same in-game effects as Hakumen's Okami from Blazblue if you are familiar with that.

How advanced can NPCs in the UNIVERSE get?

Edit: I'd just like to know so I can accurately depict the skill levels of the Blood Reaver mercs.

If you think about it, in Ready Player One there would be no reason for the Sixers to exist if they could get NPC's that were as good as real people, so I'd think any NPC is going to be worse than your normal person.

Obv I aint the host so that's just my opinion :)

Sort of off-topic, but not really. Does the RPO book cover more detail about certain characters and the Oasis? As usual, movie adaptations always leave you hanging.

Either way, I'll prob read it because I loved the movie :)

I'll just have the Blood Reavers be as good as The King PvP bot that was created for the first Soul's game with the Cheat Engine then. Advanced and able to put up a good fight, but still beatable with the right strategies.

I think the book goes into more detail about a lot of things yeah. For instance in the movie you don't see the main character decide to stop being a fat slob, which is a major character development point, he chooses to better himself in the real world instead of just living in the Oasis.

The movie is a really good adaptation I think because it captures the spirit of the story but a movie is only an hour or two long whilst the book has so much more information in it.

@Hellion I'm failing to remember any major omissions when it comes to the characters; Aech plays a larger role early on, so you see a bit more of his and the MC's friendship. The biggest change is that Sho is basically a completely different character; you actually see a lot more of Daito and Sho in general.

The trials are all completely different aside from the very last one and even that is actually the final part of a larger trial. In the movie the trials are largely based on knowledge of the creator and understanding his mindset. In the book all the trials are basically created based on the creators love of '80s media.

First version done, I hope it looks good for a start. I can replace the Shadow's shoes, but I didn't think anyone would do that, or the more obscure stuff. And all items I listed exist as three-dimensional models. I can of course make edits as needed. I considered the Phantom Ruby for a moment, ngl.

Okay, I'm looking for a bit of feedback on a few things as I'm updating my CS:

RL skill: "Creating several alt skins and inserting code for her avatar in order to disguise/mask her trail within The Universe."

Would this even be a RL skill or just an ability within TU?

Essentially I'm trying to craft her to be support, and a shadow, doing things behind the scenes, etc in TU.

Also, I'm stuck on the "rare item". What would make sense for a relatively non-lethal infiltrator/hacker archetype?

Depends if you purposefully went and got the item or if its just something you happened to get from a drop or something. It doesn't really have to match your archetype :)

But for stealth maybe something like Harry Potters invisibility cloak? EDIT: Just saw you already have limited invis nvm

Editedit: Maybe something that helps your mobility? Something like the grapple belts from Attack on Titan?

EDITEDITEDIT: Or the red pill from The Matrix, which when taken lets you fight like Neo and dodge bullets?

So are they basically hacking The Universe to alter their characters appearance? I'll be honest, I'm wary of any kind of "hacker" character that can start changing things in-game. It's just begging to be abused.

Changing her appearance is something that can just as easily be done via an item of some kind.

Speaking of which...

I'm going to assume a hierarchy of Common < Rare < Unique when it comes to things in this game unless stated otherwise.

You could have a "Mystique" skin that lets you copy any non-rare skin you've seen in the past.

Or, a Sombra ability that lets you instantly shut-down any non-unique technology-based item within a certain radius for a few seconds, with a long cooldown. Or just a Sombra glove that lets you shut down one tech-based item at a time for a few seconds with a small cooldown.
