In 2075 the world’s reserves of fossil fuels would have played out. But well before that the world would face fresh water shortages. Food shortages will decimate populations. And financial and social upheavals threaten the stability of nearly every government on the planet.

It is now the year 2084. Martial law was declared in every remaining government on the planet. The population of the planet has dwindled a bit, now less than 2 billion (in the USA about 75 million). Most of the survivors have been rounded up and now dwell in city states. There are about 25 of them scattered across the USA. The metro cities of old are now largely abandoned.

Life is much like that seen in Judge Dredd - though the technology is far lower. 1% of the population are elite - with technical skills born of genetic tampering. 4% are military. 70% of the population is on welfare with little in the way of real skills. And 25% are drones, their minds ‘chipped.’

Living free are the Wildlings and Outlanders.

Seems interesting enough. Is there any other information regarding the world? I noticed you referenced the Judge Dredd movie... I myself am not familiar with the said movie. I watched a video on youtube of "Some of the Best Scenes from Dredd"... got enough of a gist of it, but for someone who hasn't watched it in its entirety, such as myself, would I be at much of a loss trying to join this RP?

Well the stuff in JD is way, way more advanced than in this RP. But basically it is a socialist state. If you ever read the rpg you'd know what mean. But I am NOT running Judge Dredd. Just that sort of society. You have abusive Law, ruling elite, and pretty much useless population - unless you want to count the chipped drones.

The RP will take place in the wastelands - unless someone gets caught and the group wants to go in and rescue them - which is a suicide errand.

If you ever watched old 80's movies like Solarbabies, Mad Max, Slipstream, and Brave New World (I think this one was the 70's), and such you'll have an idea of the sort of dystopia I mean.

Basically you will have patrols with the nice pretty armored vehicles and men in awesome body armor. The group will be the Wildlings who oppose them. Yes, with the right plans and ingenuity it IS possible to fight the patrol. But it takes planning and a cohesive group.

Oh . the world itself is Earth. I'll have to get some maps. Basically it is Earth after Global Warming did its damage.

Well, if you end up getting a few people interested, I’d be more than willing to join in on the fun. I’ll keep tabs and see what’s to come over the next week, or so. Been looking for a while for a role play and this one as well as one other in particular (and another one that only has half my interest) have caught my eye on both RPG and Iwaku.. so hopefully this idea takes. I think it’ll be great! Looks to have a lot of potential!

For my character I may do an Outlander contact ... and possibly a city state defector or outcast (ie on the run for some reason.) Basically something to give the group something to do. LOL, don't shoot?
