(This is where current and previous monsters will be listed. This will make it easier to keep track of the current monsters in play and act as a sort of Hall of Fame when monsters are defeated.)
"I don't understand, it's just too strong! Did we come this far just to lose here!?" A girl in an outlandish costume that made her look like a multi-colored jester gritted her teeth in frustration as she looked at the monster in frustration. The large, metal-plated behemoth hissed out stream from between its plates making it whistle like a steam train engine. The monster's large, scaly eyes looked at the strange individuals arrayed before it with utter contempt.
A variety of individuals were scattered across the ground in a multitude of conditions. Some were sprawled on the ground as if mauled to death, others were lodged straight into the ground or into buildings, others were nursing broken limbs and trying desperately not to get in the monster's sight, while still more were breathing heavily but still in good enough condition to fight.
"I know, we've tried everything we can think of! Ice, fire, projectiles, metal, piercing, blunt force, heck even a strike at terminal velocity but nothing has even put a dent in this thing!" Another combatant, a young boy in what appeared be in some kind of light armor wielding a short sword complained as he glared at the monster. The monster glared back and opened up its gigantic Maw to gather energy for another blast to wipe out the remaining kids.
"No, no, no, NO NO NONONONONO!" The Jester girl started to scream and cry as she realized that the end was soon approaching.
"DANG YOUUUU!" The young boy charged straight at the monster, hoping maybe a strike into its mouth might damage the beast but as his sword went in, CLANG! His sword bounced off the metal interior. "Oh come on-" Were his last words as dark, purple energy erupted from the creature's bowls and torched him to a cinder. The Jester Girl tried to run but she was quickly caught up in the blast as well and collapsed to the ground.
The monster looked around to see if anyone was left but at this point everyone was knocked out. With a final snort the monster shrinked into a small ball of purple light and flew away. A black figure appeared and looked over the absolute carnage, a one-sided massacre with no survivors.
"SO LET'S SEE. HOW MANY WINS DID THEY GET BEFORE THIS GROUP BIT THE DUST. EH, 8 WINS HUH? I'VE SEEN BETTER, THEY REALLY WEREN'T THAT SMART WERE THEY AND THEY EVEN HAD SOME PRETTY COOL ABILITIES THIS TIME AROUND TOO. WELL JUST SHOWS GOOD POWERS ARE WASTED ON IDIOTS! STILL THEY'LL AT LEAST PROVIDE ME SOME ENERGY." The dark figure went around to each person and absorbed what appeared to be a stream of light from each of their bodies. As he completed each one the fancy outfits disappeared from the kids leaving them to lie on the ground. No matter what state their bodies were in, once the figure was done taking their powers the kids were returned back to their normal, whole states.
"WELL I'LL NEED TO FIND SOME NEW CHAMPIONS I SUPPOSE. I HOPE I CAN FIND SOME REAL TALENTED ONES THIS TIME SO I CAN HAVE A REALLY LARGE MEAL! HEHEHEHE, AH MAN THIS REALLY IS TOO MUCH FUN!" The dark figure chuckled as the destroyed area returned to normal as if nothing had transpired, no monster, no destruction, no magical boys and girls, just a bunch of kids sprawled out on the ground like drunks after a really long night. The figure vanished and the children started to wake up.
"What am I doing out here?" "Where am I?" "Hey! Don't look up my skirt!"
The confused kids tried to make sense of their situation but nothing really came to mind, all they knew was they needed to get home before it got any later or their families would be worried about them...
Game Set-Up
Normal Phase - This is your classic character interaction time. Everyone lives out their normal lives, going to school, making friends, etc. Character ages will be in the middle to high school range so around 14-18 years old. To make things easier for interaction everyone will be attending the same school though the middle and high school divisions will have their own campuses. This is your slice of life time, make friends, go to parties, find love, all that wonderful stuff you want to do.
To help with interaction I may add special events, perhaps a school festival or trip to spice things up. In general though you are free to do what you like. To help everyone be on the same page though I will implement a time system so you generally know what's up. Important information will be Day, Current Event, time of day[morning, afternoon, evening, etc] and weather. Still what your character does and who they interact with is ultimately up to you.
Monster Hour - The monster will appear, making the characters have to drop whatever they're doing and fight. Monsters care not for time or context so they often interrupt at the worst of times. You can fight however you want but these monsters are often invincible until you figure out their weakness or gimmick. The longer a fight goes on the harder it will get as the monsters start developing strategies to finish you off.
Monster Hour will only last so long, meaning it can be a viable option to stall out a fight until the creature is forced to retreat for a time. There are of course exceptions to this rule as some fights will last until the monster is defeated or other special rule sets. It is of course in one's best interest to finish a fight as soon as possible as monsters will 'evolve' the longer they are in play.
Magical Rule Set
Magic can only be used if one chooses to enter a 'magical' state, this severely limits everyday applications.
Using Magic is quite tiring, meaning if for some reason you are forced to use it outside of Monster Hour you could be severely weakened during the actual fight.
Magic should not be flaunted without reason. Normal people should not be made aware if possible.
Monsters and Magic are considered 'concepts' as concepts they are technically outside of our normal dimensions. They can still affect the real world but the lasting effects are limited in scope. For example, if someone were to be killed by a monster, for as long as the monster is still around they would stay dead, but once the monster leaves our dimension the entire concept of that monster is removed as well, causing that person to revert back to their previous state. Usually when a person is 'reset' all memories of anything related to that 'concept' vanish as well. The same thing applies to a magic user who enters their magic state, although since they merely 'dip' into an alternate dimension unlike the monsters their actions tend to have more lasting consequences in the world.
Monsters that manage to survive and are forced to retreat take their 'conceptual' damages with them, but when they return all that they have done returns with them. For example a mall was destroyed during a monster's rampage but its time runs out so it retreats, everything will go back to normal but when the monster returns for a second round everything reverts back to the state the monster had caused in the first place, meaning the mall is back in its destroyed state whenever the monster is present.
The more times a normal person or thing is affected by magic or monsters, the more attuned they become to such things, meaning consequences that would normally disappear when such magic is gone, could become permanent. A person who views a magical sight for too long may gain lasting memories for example or a wound could become an actual one if given enough time.
If a character is defeated by a monster and they are a magic user, they will lose all abilities and they will regress to a state before they gained powers. Essentially they lose all memories, abilities, and continue to live their normal lives afterward.
Angel City
Geography Angel City is a somewhat isolated location, with mountains to the North and West, plains to the east, and the star shaped Satin Lake to the South. Roads mostly travel east and west through the plains and mountains. The city has the typical four seasons and the city planners spent extra special care to keep nature along with the buildings so there are few areas that are completely concrete.
Seraphim High and Middle School The biggest school in the area where the next warriors are selected from. There are two separate campuses, one for the middle school and one for the high school right next to each other. While there is a school uniform students are not required to wear it except for special events and occasions.
The school is well known for having a variety of extra-curricular activities, ranging from sports, to music, to drama. The various teams are known for being highly competitive with those from other schools and are often highly ranked. While creativity is encouraged, high expectations are also put on the students.
Cherubim Park
A large park near the center of town known for its many trails, grass fields, flowers, and even a six-winged statue of a Cherubim in the center. The statue has a fountain around it and nearby playground equipment for the children. Lots of people come out here for quality time with friends and family.
Heaven's Wings Arcade
As the city is rather removed from other cities it actually has a somewhat decently run arcade despite home consoles and the like. You can expect the usual arcade experience with crane machines, arcade machines both old and new, drinks, snacks, and even air hockey and pool. A fun place to hang out when bored or just to meet new people.

THE ENTITY
The strange being that has decided to gift the teenagers with their powers. It is unknown exactly what this otherworldly thing is other than it seems to have at least some interest in Earth. What it is and why it has gotten involved is unknown, but it has decided to take on various forms for interaction with the new fighters.
When not taking on any form the being mostly just looks like an energy field in humanoid shape. This is what it usually looks like but does take on more human forms when it suits its purposes. In fact the creature actually seems to be growing a habit of taking on a human form for interaction.
Role Play Rules
1. I have final say for obvious reasons
2. Your characters are kids so you can do all that normal kid stuff including romance. Of course due to the age limitations please keep things PG-13. You can have darker elements if you so wish but let's keep anything that could potential need a fade-to-black censorship out of the role play.
3. You may PVP if your hearts so desire but make sure your partner is in on the fight so you can plan it out beforehand, makes things go a lot smoother. Course the majority of the roleplay is PvE.
4. Two paragraphs minimum, this is a Casual Roleplay so none of that cheap free talk here.
5. If you have an idea or a question feel free to OOC it or just PM me directly.
6. Have fun and don't take things too seriously even if you are getting your butt handed to you by the monster of the week.
Background: Caleb has only recently moved to Angel City, because of his father's new job as manager of a grocery store. At first he didn't like it there because of how isolated it was, but thanks to Seraphim School's extra-curricular activities, mainly the art and comic clubs he not only quickly made new friends but also had a chance to work on his passion.
Caleb had no idea what he was in for when he agreed to become a magical warrior and while he wishes he had known in advance, in which case he probably would have refused, he has no intention of quitting. Part of it is because he really wants his wish fulfilled and believes his adventures would make for an interesting comic series but he also genuinely wants to protect others. He hasn't told his parents yet because he doesn't want them to worry but since they are clearly getting suspicious of him Caleb believes he might have to in on it soon.
Monster Fighting Abilities: Caleb's main ability revolves around forcefields of some kind.
Armshield: Caleb creates a forcefield around one or both of his forearms, can be used to either block attack or increase the strength of his punches.
Cutting Edge: Caleb makes a forcefield that is incredibly thin and fragile but razor sharp.
Block: A small hollow square forcefield made in mid air that can either block attack or serve as a platform.
Name: Zhan Muyung (Chinese/Koren name scheme so first name is Muyung family name is Zhan) Age: 16 Appearance:
Secret Wish:
To Become The Absolute. Somebody so powerful they become a certainty in the universe.
Background: Muyung's uncle Zhan Zi was originally the heir to the broken sword martial arts sect, deep in the mountains of Tibet however Muyung's father, Zhan Yuan, displayed great talent towards the martial arts. Even though Yuan tried his best to support his brother, Zi always felt that he was living in his younger brother's shadow as they grew up. When the rumors spread that Yuan had fallen in love with a woman from a rival sect, Zi took advantage of the situation to have his brother banished. Yuan gladly gave up his position in their clan then immediately decided to elope with his lover to the US.
Muyung always grew up listening to his parent's love story but the more he listened to it, the more he became focused on the aspect of martial arts. His father trained him in the Ten Thousand Tibetan Sword style, honing his body to become a weapon per his request. The two bonded greatly using martial arts however the skills he learned from his father never felt enough. Yuan would enter tournament after tournament in an effort to prove his strength, gaining a long streak of wins in junior tournaments. He pushed himself to become even stronger while becoming drunk on stories of martial arts master who became immortal beings after years of cultivation, being able to bring down the heavens themselves if they so choose.
Yuan wanted to become like one of them but stories of immortals were only stories and even though he still hadn't reached his physical limit he knew that humans could only stay human. No amount of cultivation through meditation nor martial arts could turn him into an immortal, but regardless of that he trained and trained until the day he was chosen to become a magical warrior and fulfill his dream. Monster Fighting Abilities:
5*Physical Ability: Muyung's greatest power, an ability to enhance all his physical abilities by five times. Already having an obscene amount of strength, speed, and endurance even before he became a magical warrior, his magical powers have made him into a true monster. When powered up, Zhan's fists can turn concrete into dust and shatter steel beams while his body is able to withstand tank rounds with barely any damage what so ever. This power has the downside of not actually providing anything that could specifically harm a monster but by god can he keep up with even the most physically overpowering demons. He might not be able to kill a monster permanently with his strength but damned if he won't try.
The Ten Thousand Tibetan Sword Technique: A martial art passed down from the Zhan family for generations and used personally by Muyung's father, The Ten Thousand Tibetan Sword Technique is a series of sword moves that were designed for everything from killing, cutting and even dancing. Few very in history were able to master all ten thousand moves, even those interested in learning must start at a young age to be able to master even a fraction of the moves. Contrary to its name, The Ten Thousand Tibetan Sword Technique has many techniques that rely purely on the user's body. Even techniques that normally require a sword can be used in a weaker state once mastered, as the practitioner's body becomes a weapon in itself. At the moment, Zhan has to use the weakened techniques as no mundane weapon could properly handle his strength with magical enchantments.
Name: Lapis Brenda Age: 16 Appearance: Secret Wish:
To become a famous fencer
Background: Lapis Brenda was born and raised in Angel City in high class family, Lapis mother teach her skills that are lady-like like writing poetry, ballet and tennis but she wasn't good of with those skills but one skill she was good at however was fencing, her father taught her how to fence while she was growing up. The fencing training create a good bond between Lapis and her father but tragic strike when Lapis father die from a deadly illness

While I like the character there is a bit of a problem with the backstory and the monster mechanics. Obviously I only recently added the magic rules so you didn't know about it until now, but with how memory works with the monsters it would be pretty much impossible for your character to know what happened on his first viewing of a battle. Also the friends wouldn't actually be dead, they would just revert to a pre-magic state and completely forget about everything that would happen, though if the monster that killed them is still alive and decided to show back up...then they would be dead each time it appeared again. Rarely happens but could be used as an interesting plot point you could use.
Name: Max Age: 17 Appearance: Pretty darn average, nothing specifically bad, nothing specifically good. A bit tall, though. (6”5’) Secret Wish:
To get the prettiest girlfriend (inside and outside) and finally become popular
Background: Had an alcoholic, abusive dad in his early childhood, but the loveliest mother who protected him. He still fears people like his dad, and often trembles at the sight of mad alcoholics. His mother got a divorce and gained custody of Max, but every year he sees his dad for a week.
Max is plagued by nightmares and hallucinations of his dad often, forcing him to undergo help for three years (12-15) before being released back onto campus. He still sees his mom, and she makes cookies every time. His dad, however.. he dreads seeing him.
Monster Fighting Abilities: Greatly increased speed. Can teleport up to 10 meters in one direction. (Cannot curve, direction determined by thought) Can practically fly in short bursts, allowing him to climb massive towers. Can reflect all attacks to himself and his allies for one second by reciting a memorised command (O jekhij o ajgk is the phrase, and it’s a simple ten meter radius ‘shield splash’), but it practically puts him to sleep Can see weak spots at a high magic cost, making it tiring to keep active (Toggle ability pretty much)
@Kierankaos Alright so a few things need changes. First let's not have the entire sheet bold, makes it look kind of like a giant blob, leave the bold for just the categories themselves. Second, probably a good idea to put some spacing in there, especially having a space between the two paragraphs in the background but then no space afterward to separate the abilities section looks weird. Abilities section might look better too if you put them in a list format.
Now as for the abilities themselves. Just for clarification the speed enhancement is beyond the extra base stat boost the magic gives him in the first place correct? Just making sure you're not mistaking the base stat boosts that everyone gets regardless of their magic.
Now for the teleportation magic, while I think it is fine I do have some questions. It says he can do it in one direction, how exactly is that direction determined? For example is it the direction he's facing? Does he have to think of where he wants to do first? How does he determine the direction of the teleportation? Once that is figured out should be fine.
So the ability to reflect all damage even for one second is pretty strong, especially since you have made it a potentially entire party buff. You did give it a drawback, making it unlikely he could use it more than once which is good but I feel it's still too vague and needs adjustments. First, how does he go about putting on the effect? Is there a magic word involved? How does he put it on other people? Second, using the term damage implies that the attacks themselves are hitting the target but instead of hurting the intended target that damage is somehow transferred back to the attacker. This is kind of strange and a little too much of a rule breaker so instead it would be better if you changed it so it is merely a reflection ability, reflecting the attacks back on the attacker.
Then there is that last ability, which frankly seems less like an ability and more just like observation skills. So does he gain these observation skills only when he puts on the magic or has he already naturally been like this? Anyway just doesn't seem so much an ability as just using his heightened senses to notice things about the monsters.
Looks like a lot I'm sure but really it's not that hard to fix, look forward to a neater and reworked sheet!
@IceHeart Hey just a heads up I might not be able to participate in this, not due to a lack of interest or time, but because I really messed up my knee somehow and it hurts a lot to sit down. :(
Liam wants deep down to find that special girl that will truly love and accept him.
Background: When he was younger, Liam was just another average kid. He had two parents that loved him, lived in a nice condo, and had some friends. He was happy. But that all changed following the accident back when he was 14, where he lost both his parents and found himself alone. Luckily for him, his parents had sizable money saved up in investments and had life insurance policies on themselves. As such, the bills and condo have been paid over these years from those funds.
Even so, the loss of his family took a toll on him, shutting himself off from the world and others for some time. Most days after school was him going back home and locking himself in, where he would throw himself into either playing video games or read manga. He has come to terms (mostly) about his parents death in recent years, but his past having chained him down for so long has him stuck in a rut of trying to get back into society and connecting with others.
Monster Fighting Abilities: -Enchanted Chains: Seemingly coming from around his forearms, Liam can send out chains that he can manipulate to attack or hinder foes. He can manipulate them up to a range of 20 meters.
-Transforming Chain Ball: At the end of the chain is usually a round, steel weighted ball used for easily wrapping the chain or can be used for bludgeoning opponents. Liam, however, can have the ball change shape to fit his needs (I.E. sharp spear tip for piercing, grapple claw for climbing, etc.).
-Sapper: When Liam successfully wraps his chain(s) around an opponent, he can sap the strength/energy from the entrapped foe(s), and in turn weaken them. On top of that, he can even recover some of it back to himself if he retains a hold on the chain in the process.
@IceHeart Hey just a heads up I might not be able to participate in this, not due to a lack of interest or time, but because I really messed up my knee somehow and it hurts a lot to sit down. :(
Take care of yourself!
@Spectral Ball-and-chain is an interesting power set especially with the transformation bit. Wasn't sure about the sapper power at first when I read it, but since the draining power will depend on the type of monster it will be easy enough for me to decide which monsters the effect would actually be useful against. A lot of the strong monsters will just shrug such an effect off but the recovery bit will still be quite useful even against the big boys.
@Kierankaos For some reason thought I already talked about the reworked sheet, anyway it should work now so go ahead an put it up in the character tab.
@IceHeart Sorry was busy with the family during Easter, I'll finish the backstory today probably. Got powers and a picture already, just trying to figure out how to shoehorn in a martial artist/wuxia character.
Alright, made a backstory. Need confirmation on the powers and backstory.
